NOVA IORQUE (Maio 18, 2015) – Associação Mundial de Boxe (WBA) Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs e 2015 New York State Boxing Hal of Fame inductee Harold Weston será amanhã noite de (Terça-feira, Maio 19) special Ring 8 guest speakers at O’Neill’s Restaurant, localizado em 64-21 53rd Drive em Maspeth, Nova Iorque.

 

Jacobs (29-1, 26 KOs), fighting out Brooklyn, is an inspiration having overcome cancer to become world champion. An outstanding amateur boxer, Jacobs was a gold medal winner at the 2003 Junior Olympics National, 2004 & 2005 PAL Nacional, 2004 & 2005 National Golden Gloves tournaments.

 

Em agosto passado, Jacobs captured the vacant WBA 160-pound division world champion, paragem Jarrod Fletcher (18-1) na quinta rodada. In his first world title defense this past April, Jacobs registered a win by 12th round technical knockout over Caleb Truax (25-1-2) em Chicago.

 

Weston (26-9-5, 7 KOs) had an outstanding professional boxing career until he retired in 1979 after his fight with Thomas Hearns. Weston’s most notable victory was against world champion (and fellow NYSBHOF inductee) Vito Antuofermo em 1973, by way of a fifth-round technical knockout due to cuts. Weston fought draws with two other world champions, Saul Mamby, who was also inducted into the NYSBHOF Class of 2015, e Wilfredo Benitez.

CHICAGO (Abril 25, 2015) – Premier boxing Champions took Chicago by stormSexta-feira night with an exhilarating fight card featuring three captivating fights on Espigão from the UIC Pavilion.

 

The televised opener showcased Roberto “O Threat” Garcia (37-3, 23 KOs) getting an eight-round unanimous decision win over James Stevenson (22-2, 15 KOs). The first main event saw Daniel “The Miracle Man” Jacobs (29-2, 26 KOs) numa 12thround knockout win over the hard-nosed Caleb “Dourado” Truax (25-2-2, 15 KOs). The night’s second main event featured Badou Jack “The Ripper” (19-1-1, 12 KOs) earning a majority decision over Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (27-1-1, 22 KOs).

 

Below are comments offered by the televised fighters as they discussed their performances tonight:

 

ANTHONY Dirrell

 

“He fought a great fight tonight.

“I was in great shape for tonight and I believed in myself. All the talk from Dirrell and his camp never got to me.

“I was in tremendous shape for this fight. I knew I was ready to go 12 rounds. He’s a veteran when it comes to fighting down the stretch, so I had to be prepared.

 

“At the end of the sixth round I hit him with a right that caused him to stumble into the ropes. I wasn’t sure at that moment if he was really hurt, or if he was just playing opossum. My corner let me know when I really had him hurt though and I took advantage.

 

“He didn’t hold as much as I thought he might. I’m glad it turned out that way, but I was prepared for it if he did.

 

“He was physically stronger than I thought he’d be, but he never really hurt me tonight.

 

“PBC is an unbelievable outlet for us boxers. My hope is that I can continue to grow my brand and become a star inside and outside of the sport of boxing.

 

“I’m out to prove that I’m the best in this division. I want whoever Al (Haymon) says next.”

 

CALEB TRUAX

 

“I wanted to pressure him, but I couldn’t get my punches off the way I wanted to. His movement was great and it was just an off night for me.

 

“I couldn’t get him to engage me and I think that ended up winning him the fight.

 

“There were a couple good shots that buzzed me, but no shots that really hurt me all that much. There were no devastating blows or anything. A fighter always wants to continue on, but the ref did his job.

 

“PBC is fantastic for bringing in casual fans who wouldn’t have otherwise watched our fights. This is truly groundbreaking. After a fight like that I hope that more and more fans will continue tuning in.

 

“I’m heading back to the gym to put in hard work. Hopefully I’ll be back on another PBC card against whoever Warriors and Al (Haymon) say.”

 

ROBERTO GARCIA

 

“I felt like Stevenson was just trying to survive, whereas I was trying to win. I could tell that my punches were bothering him. I could hear him breathing very heavily.

 

“I was just trying to get back to it tonight. My last fight was almost nine months ago here in this same venue. I needed to get this fight under my belt to keep up my drive and continue working toward the goal.

 

“I usually have to chase the guys I’m fighting. Even with the punchers like (Anthony) Margarito I end up having to chase them down. I took all that previous experience and used it tonight. It basically felt like a sparring session for me.

 

“PBC is an incredible opportunity for fighters like myself and I plan on continuing to take advantage of it.

 

“I have a great team behind me and we’re just interested in moving forward. I’m ready for a big step though. I want Shawn Porter next. I made a commitment to fight him, and I plan on sticking to that.”

 

JAMES STEVENSON

 

“Nothing he was doing was really getting to me. O fato é, I took this fight on a week and a half notice. I honestly thought I pulled it off. Everyone knows who really won tonight.

 

“I was getting in a groove, but then my back started hurting me and that took me out of it a little bit.

CHICAGO (Abril 21, 2015) – International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Joe “Pride of Whales” Calzaghe has been added to the broadcast team as a special analyst for the Premier Boxe dos Campeões (PBC) em Spike TV Abril 24 fight card taking place at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion.

Before retiring in 2009, Calzaghe set the record as the longest continuously reigning world champion in the history of boxing, making more than 21 defenses of his super middleweight title along the way. When Calzaghe finally hung up the gloves he had amassed an astonishing unblemished record of 46-0, 32 KOs that featured notable wins over Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.

A young undefeated prospect and just 22-years-old, Ramirez makes his fourth straight start at UIC Pavilion on Abril 24. He was a Chicago Golden Gloves champion and a National Golden Gloves runner-up. Born in Aurora, Illinois, Ramirez will face the 28-year-old Hermosillo out of Tijuana, Baja California, México.

 

Another young, invicto perspectiva, Edwards fights for the first time outside of his home state of New Jersey for the first time on Abril 24. The 24-year-old from Paterson will take on the 32-year-old Garcia out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

 

Another staple of UIC Pavilion, all five of Quezada‘s pro victories have come at UIC Pavilion. A 25-year-old out of Alsip, Illinois, he will look to remain undefeated when he takes on the 28-year-old Torres from Vineland, New Jersey.

 

Making his fourth consecutive start at UIC Pavilion in his hometown of Chicago, the highly regarded Thomas will look to start 2015 with his sixth professional win. The 22-year-old was an accomplished amateur who was the 2011 USA Boxing National Champion. His next challenge is Santiago out of Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Antes de sair para uma carreira profissional invicto, 24-year-old Carrillo era um amador decorado pesadamente, ida 215-14. Ele era um quatro-tempo Chicago Golden Gloves campeão e foi duas vezes Campeão Nacional Luvas de Prata. Ele ganhou o azul e ouro Torneio Nacional e foi o vice-campeão nas Olimpíadas do México.

 

Apelidado “El Lobito”, significando pouco lobo, Carrillo é um boxer / brawler agressivo que gosta de ir para o corpo. Tanto é assim que uma alta porcentagem de seus nocautes profissionais vieram de tiros do corpo.

Dirrell tem visto mais adversidade do que a maioria ao longo de sua carreira como o seu tempo no boxe foi seriamente ameaçado duas vezes. Primeiro em dezembro 2006 quando ele foi diagnosticado com linfoma não-Hodgkin e foi afastado por 20 meses e novamente em maio 2012 quando ele quebrou a perna esquerda e pulso esquerdo num acidente de moto. O Flint, Michigan nativo nunca deixe que mantê-lo para baixo, porém, como ele continuou ganhando lutas e trabalhar seu caminho até as fileiras profissionais. Em 2014 ele ganhou seu primeiro campeonato, quando derrotou Sakio Bika em uma revanche de seu 2013 desenhar. Agora, os 30 anos de idade, olha para colocar em outro show na Abril 24 em Chicago.

 

A 31-year-old Jack tem sido em curso para uma disputa de título mundial desde que assinou com Mayweather Promoções 2013. O lutador contundente fora de Las Vegas por meio de Estocolmo, Suécia, perdido pela primeira vez em 2014 mas se recuperou em sua próxima luta com um 10-redonda decisão unânime vitória sobre Jason Escalera em agosto e continuou a impressionar em dezembro, quando ele parou de Francisco Sierra na sexta-round. Agora, o 2008 Gambiano olímpico vai receber um tiro no grande palco, quando ele assume Dirrell em Abril 24.

 

Outra figura inspiradora que será entrar no ringue, Do Brooklyn Jacobs completou sua estrada do sobrevivente de câncer de campeão agosto do ano passado, quando ele derrotou Jarrod Fletcher para seu título dos médios. Em 2011, ele estava em busca de um campeonato quando o câncer de sua vida ameaçada e manteve-o fora do ringue para 19 meses. Mas quando ele voltou, ele pegou onde parou, não tendo perdido desde. Agora, ele olha para construir em sua força contra um adversário difícil em Abril 24.

 

Nascido em Osseo, Minnesota, Truax is an experienced veteran who has fought professionally since 2007. Lutando principalmente em seu estado natal, a 31-year-old ganhou seu primeiro 14 lutas antes de seu primeiro defeito em seu registro, um empate com Phil Williams em 2010. Truax ganharia mais quatro lutas, incluindo uma vitória sobre a Williams, que lhe rendeu uma 2012 lutar com Jermain Taylor. Truax caiu uma decisão difícil de Taylor, mas passou invicto em oito lutas desde. Agora, ele entra a maior luta de sua carreira na Abril 24 em Chicago.
