Undefeated prospect Pryce Taylor Working hard to join Brooklyn’s Elite list of top heavyweight boxers

(L-R) – Claressa Shields & Pryce Taylor

NEW YORK CITY (Julho 17, 2025) - Undefeated heavyweight prospect Pryce Taylor (8-0, 6 KOs) is set to return to the ring on July 26th em Detroit. After coming off his June 6th knockout win over E Fonte (14-8), h is aiming to join Brooklyn’s elite heavyweights in an exclusive club.

“I’m the next great heavyweight out of Brooklyn,” Taylor proclaimed. “And I’m a top American heavyweight prospect today.”

Achieving this rare distinction is notably challenging, as Brooklyn has produced world heavyweight champions such as Mike Tyson, Riddick Bowe, Floyd Patterson, Michael Moorer, e Shannon Briggs—all members of a special group within boxing’s premier division. With the exception of Briggs, each has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Taylor posted a 60-11 registro amador, won two New York Golden Gloves titles, and finished as heavyweight runner-up four times at the USA Boxing National Championships. As a professional prize fighter, the 28-year-old Taylor has put many of his opponents to sleep, much like his Brooklyn predecessors, Incluindo 6 paradas em seu 8 corresponde, the last four in a row.

The Pryce is Right” has been training at Brooklyn’s Cops & Kids Boxing Gym with head trainer Benny Roman. Taylor also trained for three weeks in Delray Beach, Florida, with trainer Sugar Hill, focusing on movement and sparring. “It definitely helped,” Taylor said. “There was good sparring there, and it was a good experience overall.”

Taylor values the exposure from fighting on a Salita Promotions card headlined by unbeaten, undisputed heavyweight champion Claressa Shields (16-0, 3 KOs), que enfrenta Lani Daniels (11-2-2, 1 KO) em Detroit. Anteriormente, Taylor stopped Jerell Nettles in round two on a Shields-headlined event.

“This time will be different,” Taylor pointed out. “My last fight on Claressa’s card, I was in the opening bout, off-TV, and nobody was there. I had a good seat to watch her fight, and I met her. But I’m on the main card and my fight will be streamed live on DAZN this time.”

In his first scheduled 8-round bout, Taylor will take on Robert Simms (12-4-1, 3 KOs) de Saginaw, Michigan. Two fights prior, Simms defeated previously unbeaten James McKenzie Morrison (20-1-2, 18 KOs), who is the son of the late world heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison.

“I’ve heard my opponent comes to fight,” Taylor concluded. “I really like fighting an opponent like that instead of the guys who don’t stand and fight. I also like fighting at this pace (7 weeks since his last fight) because I love boxing. Venho treinando para 8 rounds, but it’s not going the distance. I don’t see him lasting four rounds, if that.”

“I’ve kept Pryce very busy because to become a great from Brooklyn, you better be tough, talented and able to work for it,” Pryce’s manager Keith Sullivan estabelecido. “He has had eight fights in just nineteen months as a pro, and three fights fell out due to opponent injuries. That’s an old-school pace I am keeping him on. Not every fighter can handle that rate of fighting, Pryce eats it up. He can reach the upper echelon. It will take continued hard work.

“The last time he fought on Clarissa’s card, we walked into an empty arena. I leaned into him and said, ‘Enjoy the silence, soon enough you will be entering into jeering packed arenas.’ And on July 26th that will come true.”

Sullivan, a former New York State Athletic Commission Deputy Commissioner, also manages 3-time, 2-division World Champion Miyo Yoshida (18-5) and Bronx NYPD officer Nisa Rodriguez (3-1, 1 KO). Sullivan co-manages IBF Welterweight World title challenger Paddy “The Real Deal” Donovan (14-1, 11 KOs) and his cousin, pro-debuting middleweight Jim Donovan, alongside coach and ex-world champion Andy Lee.

BROOKLYN (Junho 6, 2019) – Undefeated Polish star and Brooklyn-nativeAdam Kownacki will look to thrill in front of a hometown crowd when he steps into the ring against veteran former title challengerChris “The Nightmare” Arreola for a 12-round heavyweight showdown that headlines FOX PBC Fight Night on FOX and FOX Deportes Saturday, Agosto 3 do Barclays Center, a casa de BROOKLYN BOXE ™.

The broadcast starts at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT and features former world champion Andre Berto assumindo Miguel Cruz in a 10-round welterweight clash and unbeaten interim WBA Light Heavyweight Champion “Senhor” Marcus Browne lutando contra o ex-campeão do mundo Jean Pascal in a 12-round bout

The heavyweight division is red hot and Kownacki is a top rising challenger who will look to continue his ascent up the rankings with a win over the all-action veteran Arreola. This will be Kownacki’s ninth fight at Barclays Center, and his first as the headlining attraction.

Os ingressos para o evento, que é promovido pela TGB Promoções, go on sale on Friday, Junho 7 em 10 a.m. and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center starting Saturday, Junho 8 ao meio-dia.

This action-packed tripleheader is full of high stakes, toe-to-toe matchups with fighters highly-motivated to make a statement on the big stage,” disse Tom Brown, Presidente da TGB Promoções. “Brooklyn’s Polish star Adam Kownacki has become a fan-favorite in his hometown and is surely in for a challenge from the always exciting Chris Arreola, as he looks to make a heavyweight statement. Andre Berto is always in action fights and he’ll be looking to hold off the young challenger Miguel Cruz, while Marcus Browne returns off his career-best victory to face battle-tested former champion Jean Pascal.

All eyes are on boxing’s heavyweight division, and I am thrilled to welcome Brooklyn’s own contender Adam Kownacki back to our ring for his first time as the headliner,” disse Brett Yormark, CEO of BSE Global. “Adam has built an enthusiastic fan base in the borough, and I am confident they will be out in full force to support him as he takes on veteran Chris Arreola to earn a title shot in the near future. It will be yet another heavyweight night to remember in Brooklyn.

Kownacki (19-0, 15 KOs) is noted for his tenacity and has been progressing towards a world title shot with knockouts in five of his last six fights. A 30-year-old, who was born in Lomza, Poland and moved to Brooklyn when he was seven, was an accomplished amateur in New York City before turning pro. He scored an impressive unanimous decision victory over former world champion Charles Martin last year and is coming off of a devastating knockout victory against Gerald Washington in January on FOX. His last three fights and six of his last seven have taken place at Barclays Center, where he has routinely brought out the area’s passionate Polish sports fans.

I’m excited to be back in the ring and back at home in Barclays Center, live on FOX and FOX Deportes,” disse Kownacki. “Fighting Chris Arreola will be another step on my journey to become a world champion. It will be a Polish-Mexican War that will bring fireworks to Brooklyn. Make sure you’re there in Brooklyn or watching in primetime!”

Arreola (38-5-1, 33 KOs), a veteran of the heavyweight division, has contended for the world title three times, most recently against WBC champion Deontay Wilder in 2016. Since losing to Wilder, the 38-year-old Arreola from Los Angeles, California has put together back-to-back victories, including a stoppage of then unbeaten Jean Pierre Augustin on a PBC on FOX Sports pay-per-view undercard in March.

I can’t wait to step into the ring on August 3 and show everyone I’m still one of the best heavyweights in the world,” Disse Arreola. “I feel rejuvenated and ready to upset Adam Kownacki in front of his fans. É melhor ele estar pronto, because I’m going to bring it to him like he’s never seen before. This is going to be a war and I will leave with my hand raised.”

Berto (32-5, 24 KOs) has fought some of the top welterweight champions of this generation, including Floyd Mayweather. The 35-year-old won a welterweight world title with TKO victory over Miguel Angel Rodriguez in 2008 and successfully defended it five times before losing it to Victor Ortiz in 2011. He later avenged that loss to Ortiz with a knockout victory in 2016 on FOX. A native of Winter Haven Florida, Berto is coming off a split decision victory over former welterweight champion Devon Alexander in his last fight in August on FOX.

I’m looking forward to this fight on August 3,” Disse Berto. “My focus is different, my motivation is different and my hunger is different. I’ve had a lot happen in my life in a short period of time with the loss of my father and the birth of my new baby girl, Legaci. It’s definitely turned me in to a whole different type of animal. August 3 is going to be cinematic. Barclays Centersee you soon. I’ve got some payback.

Cruz (18-1, 12 KOs) is among a group of promising welterweights prepared to burst onto the scene in one of the most talent-rich division in boxing. The 28-year-old from Lake Mary, Florida will be stepping up a level with his bout against Berto. He scored a TKO victory over Luis Eduardo Florez in his last fight in January to bounce back from a decision loss to Josesito Lopez on FOX in April 2018.

I’m excited for all my Boricuas and NYC fight fans to come out and show love in August 3,Cruz said. “I want to thank everyone who made this opportunity possible, and I’m definitely going to make the most if it. This is a different era in boxing and I’m here to prove it to the world and to Andre Berto. Don’t miss this night of boxing.

The 28-year-old Browne (23-0, 16 KOs) won the interim title with a rousing unanimous decision victory over former two-division champion Badou Jack in January. A 2012 U.S. Olympian from Staten Island, Browne has fought at Barclays Center 12 times in his career as he made his steady climb up the light heavyweight ranks. Pascal will be the second straight former world champion that he has faced.

I’m honored and grateful to be able to display my skills on this huge platform on FOX and at Barclays Center, which is a second home for me and my boxing career,” Disse Browne, who will be fighting at Barclays Center for the 13th time.I anticipate Pascal bringing everything that he has into this fight because this is make or break for him. Unfortunately for him, he will break, as I plan to win this fight decisively and continue my quest for a long and successful championship reign. I expect him to come in as prepared as a championship-caliber fighter and I’m staying motivated to get the win on August 3.

Pascal (33-6-1, 20 KOs) has been in the ring with the top fighters of his era during his brilliant career, incluindo Bernard Hopkins, Sergey Kovalev, Carl Froch, Lucian Bute and Chad Dawson. A 36 anos de idade, who was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti and now lives in Laval, Quebec, Canadá, won the light heavyweight world title with a unanimous decision over Adrian Diaconu in 2009. He is coming off a loss to Dmitry Bivol in his last fight after putting together back-to-back TKO victories over Ahmed Elbiali and Steve Bosse.

Marcus Browne is one of the most talented fighters in the world and I will have to be at my best to beat him,” said Pascal. “I’ve been training and I will be ready. I’ve got some veteran tricks he’s never seen before. I plan on out boxing him just like every other southpaw I’ve ever fought. I’ve never lost to a lefty and it’s going to stay that way come August 3.

BROOKLYN (Março 3, 2019) – Former 154-pound world champion Erislandy Lara and WBA Super Welterweight Champion Brian Castaño fought to a highly competitive split-draw Saturday at Barclays Center, a casa de BROOKLYN BOXE ™, em um evento apresentado pela Premier Boxing Champions. With the draw, Castaño retains the WBA belt in what was the toughest test of his career against the longtime top 154-pounder in Lara. Os juízes marcou a luta 115-113 (Castaño), 115-113 (Lara) e 114-114.

Castaño (15-0-1, 11 KOs), who was fighting in his first U.S. evento principal, held a large advantage in power connects (181-103) while Lara (25-3-3, 14 KOs) found success landing his left hand down the middle on his way to a 34 percent to 27 percent advantage in power accuracy.

In the close, difficult-to-score fight, five of the rounds were separated by three or fewer connects and three of those rounds favored Lara. In the final two rounds, Castaño ramped up the pressure and connected on 44 socos, while Lara landed only 24 punches across the championship rounds. Castaño won the final three rounds on all three judges’ scorecards. Without doing so, the Argentine would have lost his belt.

After the hotly contested fight, both fighters have options, including a rematch, in the talent-rich super welterweight division.

“I know I won the fight. I feel I was robbed,” a disappointed Castaño told SHOWTIME’s Jim Gray. “If he wants the rematch, I’ll give him the rematch. I waited for him this time so I can wait for him again if he wants the rematch. I would give him the rematch if he wants. I can also go ahead and fight any other champion that wants to fight me. I’m ready for whoever they put in front of me. Hurd or anyone else.”

Lara, por outro lado, felt he did enough to claim the belt: “I thought I won the fight by landing the more accurate and effective punches. Castaño came to fight but he never hurt me and I hurt him. All I can do is give the fans great fights and that’s what I’ll continue to do. I have a lot of fight left in me and I’m not going anywhere.

“If we have to fight him again, I’ll fight him. Hurd or Castaño. Anybody, I’ll have the rematch with both.”

Na co-metragem, Cuban heavyweight slugger Luis Ortiz (31-1, 26 KOs) earned a unanimous decision victory over a game Martelo Christian (24-6, 14 KOs). Although the judges scored the fight 100-90 e 99-91 duas vezes, both men fought through bloody noses at different points in the fight and both were stunned in a back-and-forth second round.

Ortiz, who earned his third consecutive victory since dropping a thrilling slugfest with WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder one year ago, is now looking for another world title shot.

“The fight wasn’t what I was expecting,” said Ortiz. “It was a hard fight and my corner really had to work with me. After I got the rhythm, I heated up a little bit. Every heavyweight out there should know that I still have it at 40-years-old. Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, Estou pronto. "

Although Hammer fought with more energy and with more resolve than in previous fights with other top-tier heavyweights Tyson Fury and Alexander Povetkin, Ortiz used his superior technique and skills to eventually cruise to the lopsided decision. Ortiz averaged 45 jabs thrown per round and landed 61 jabs to just 20 para martelo, while also connecting on 49 por cento de seus golpes de energia. Ortiz made a conscious effort to attack Hammer’s body with 33.6% of his total connects (45 de 140) coming via body shots.

“I fought a fight that I hadn’t for years, which is box and work,” said Ortiz. “So I’m not disappointed I didn’t knock him out because I showed some of my boxing skills tonight.”

Ortiz is a very good and experienced fighter,” said the 31-year-old Hammer, who was making his American debut. “He’s technical and smart but he’s not as intimidating as people say he is. I respect Ortiz but I don’t think he’s the best fighter I’ve ever faced.

“I’m very confident going forward. I know that I can go the distance with anyone and I’m willing to fight anyone. People thought I’d get knocked out but I proved them wrong.

Na abertura da cerimônia, Eduardo Ramirez (22-1-3, 9 KOs) caught Bryan de Gracia (24-2-1, 20 KOs) with a vicious right uppercut in the ninth, stunning his opponent and suddenly breaking open a close fight. Ramirez pounced on the dazed De Gracia and unleashed a wave of punches which forced referee Benjy Esteves to call the fight at 2:10 of round nine.

The southpaw Ramirez, de Los Mochis, Sinaloa, México, was trailing on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage according to two out of three judges (the third had it even). Ramirez, known to grow stronger in the later rounds, connected on 36 punches in round number nine, by far his highest connect total on the night. Although De Gracia was the more aggressive fighter, the Panamanian failed to consistently land punches. De Gracia was accurate on just 27 por cento de seus golpes de energia, while Ramirez landed 38 por cento do seu.

“I definitely knew it was close but my corner kept telling me to keep going and going, and that’s when I caught him,”Disse Ramirez, who was fighting with a heavy heart following the passing of his grandfather. “I didn’t just come here to fight. I came here to do something and I did it.”

Com a vitória, Ramirez is now in line to face WBA (Regular) Featherweight World Champion Can Xu and will be looking to challenge for a world title fight in the deep featherweight division.

In SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING COUNTDOWN action that streamed live on theSHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel and SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page, Edwin Rodriguez (31-2, 20 KOs) won a 10-round cruiserweight fight via unanimous decision overMitch Williams (16-7-3, 11 KOs) por dezenas de 96-94 duas vezes e 98-92. Coverage on social media also saw Antonio Russell (13-0, 11 KOs), younger brother of WBC Featherweight Champion Gary Russell Jr., stop Jose Maria Cardenas (16-4, 13 KOs) 22 seconds into the sixth round of their bantamweight fight. In the opening bout of the digital presentation, Leduan Barthelemy (14-0-1, 7 KOs) permaneceu invicto com uma decisão unânime sobre Miguel Angel Aispuro (11-7-2, 7 KOs) por dezenas de 80-72 duas vezes e 79-73 in their eight-round super featherweight attraction.

HOUSTON (Fevereiro 20, 2019) – Former super welterweight world champion Erislandy “O sonho americano” Lara will look to reclaim a piece of the 154-pound crown when he challenges WBA champion Brian Castaño no sábado, Março 2 viver no canal Showtime do Barclays Center, a casa de BROOKLYN BOXE ™, e apresentado pela Premier Boxe Campeões.

Brian Castaño is coming into this fight with an undefeated record, mas não é nada que eu não tenha visto antes,” Disse Lara. “This will be my third fight in a row versus an undefeated fighter. Estou levando isso muito a sério. Stylistically, I feel I’m the superior fighter, but he’s a very strong champion. I will be prepared to take back a title in this great division, then look to the biggest fights that are out there.

One of the big fights that could be out there for Lara is a rematch with unified 154-pound champion Jarrett Hurd. Lara dropped a split-decision to Hurd in a unification showdown on SHOWTIME that was the consensus 2018 “Luta do Ano”, having been recognized by the BWAA, ESPN and Sporting News, entre outros.

The fight against Hurd was a great fight for the fans, but I felt I won seven or eight rounds that night,” Disse Lara. “To be on the wrong end of another close decision left a bad taste in my mouth. That fight being recognized as ‘Fight of the Yearshows my versatility as a fighter. I was on the ballot before with Alfredo Angulo, so it was good to get recognized for being a warrior, not only a craftsman. I will always give the fans my all and come March 2, it will be no different.

Lara is continuing to to work with longtime trainer Ronnie Shields in Houston, where Lara has prepared for his matchup with sparring that includes going up against top prospects in 18-year-old Joey Spencer and 24-year-old Eimantas Stanionis.

Ronnie and I are working great together, and we have an excellent game plan in place.,” Disse Lara. “This is one of the better camps I’ve had the last few years. Having young fighters like Spencer and Stanionis in camp with me is refreshing because I know they are hungry. Quando treinar, I feed off their energy, because I know they are trying to take take their game to the next level, which makes me better. This is a demanding sport and they are definitely pushing me.

Março 2 also gives Lara a chance to share the stage with another one of Cuba’s best fighters, as Luis Ortiz is set to take on Christian Hammer in the co-main event, making the night a celebration of Cuban boxing.

Luis Ortiz and I go way back and I’m happy that my brother is fighting on the same card as me,” Disse Lara. “We’ve gone through a lot since leaving Cuba to pursue our dreams of becoming world champions here in the U.S. Like myself, I know he’s going to be ready to entertain the fans on fight night and make this a memorable night for Cuban boxing!”

Os ingressos para o evento, que é promovido por promoções TGB em associação com a Dibella Entertainment, já estão à venda e podem ser comprados em ticketmaster.com, barclayscenter.com, ou pelo telefone 800-745-3000. BRIAN CASTAÑO TALKS TRAINING CAMP, Erislandy Lara, ARGENTINE LEGENDS & MORE AHEAD OF MAIN EVENT TITLE DEFENSE LIVE ON SHOWTIME®

WBA Super Welterweight Champion Takes on Former World Champion Lara Saturday, Março 2 do Barclays Center, em Brooklyn& Presented by Premier Boxing Champions

BROOKLYN(Fevereiro 7, 2019) – WBA super welterweight titlistBrian Castañois nearing his first U.S. main event and talked about how training camp has gone so far as he prepares to face former world championErislandy Larano sábado, Março 2 live on SHOWTIME from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, a casa de BROOKLYN BOXE ™, and presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

Castaño is trained by his former pro boxer father Carlos in the bustling city of Isidro Casanova in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a long and successful amateur career leading into his pro debut in 2012, Castaño has a chance on March 2 to make a lasting impact with an impressive performance against Lara.

I’ve been boxing since I was a small child and now this is my opportunity to prove myself on the biggest stage,” said Castaño. “This fight is the moment I’ve been waiting for and the kind of tough challenge that I love. I want to make a statement to the American audience against one of the best fighters in the world.

In recent years, Argentine fighters such as Marcos Maidana, Jesus Cuellar and Lucas Matthysse have become champions and stars in the U.S. with their relentless styles they bring into the ring fight after fight. Castaño specifically has spoken to another Argentine great in Sergio Martinez for inspiration as he continues his journey.

I have a great admiration for the Argentine champions that have made statements and become big names in the U.S. in recent years and I know how difficult that is to achieve,” said Castaño. “I’ve sat and had great conversations with Sergio Martinez not long ago and I was able to learn a lot from a fighter like that.

The 29-year-old first won an interim title with a knockout of Emmanuel de Jesus in 2016, before winning tough 12-round battles against Michel Soro, and most recently a final round stoppage win over Cedric Vitu to capture the belt he will defend on March 2. These were the first two times Castaño fought into the 12th round as a pro.

I learn new things each time I fight,” said Castaño. “When you are a world champion, there are no easy foes. The opponents come stronger and stronger each time. I’ve learned that I have to double my effort every time I get into the ring.

In LaraCastaño faces a challenging former amateur world champion who was the longest-reigning titleholder in the 154-pound division before he lost to fellow champion Jarrett Hurd last April on SHOWTIME in 2018’s Fight of the Year. Castaño is aware of what Lara brings to the fight and is preparing to negate it.

On paper we know that Lara is a slick fighter that can be difficult to catch, while I’m more like a demolisher that goes after you all fight,” said Castaño. “Lara moves around the ring very wisely and has great timing on the counterpunch. No anel, you never know how it can play out though. I probably haven’t faced someone like him before, so I have to cut off the ring in an even smarter manner.

On March 2, Castaño will be looking to take his career to the next level with his performance, knowing that chances at the highest level are hard to come by.

I’ve taken my career quietly to this point, but I know that I have to make myself known by putting up a great performance in this tough fight,” said Castaño. “I’m prepared to do just that. This is the opportunity that I’ve dreamed of ever since I was a little kid and I have to be ready to rise to the occasion.

Tickets for the event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions in association with DiBella Entertainment, já estão à venda e podem ser comprados emticketmaster.com,barclayscenter.com, ou pelo telefone 800-745-3000. Tickets can also be purchased at the American Express Box Office at Barclays Center. Grupo descontos estão disponíveis pelo telefone 844-BKLYN-GP.
