SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 13, 2018) – Undefeated NABF Lightweight champion, Selina “Aztec Queen” Buurten (4-0, 2 KO) is getting ready for her Corpus Christi Showdown on September 22, 2018, against Patricia Juarez (4-0), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Mariana “Barbie” Juarez (50-9-4, 13 KO).

On the line will be Selina’s NABF Lightweight title. The 10-round bout will take place at Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Training camp has begun and this is what Barrios has had to say:

On her recent training camp in San Antonio…

“Training camp has been very challenging but its going to be worth every minute. I feel very motivated for this camp. I truly believe I am the best in my division and for that to continue to be true, I must train harder than others, and that’s what I’m doing. I understand that Patricia Juarez is undefeated and a very tough opponent. That’s why I’m training extremely hard, because I respect her skill level. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans.

On fighting Patricia Juarez…

“Patricia Juarez is a deserving and tough challenger. I am training as though I am going to be in a tough and grueling fight that will go the distance, but my mindset like my last fight is to also go for a knockout. I am training very hard for this fight and I want the fans to know that I am not taking my opponent lightly.

On fighting in Corpus Christi on the Baseball field for the Houston Astros organization…

“It is a dream come true when you work so hard at something, in my case boxing, and a major organization lets you fight in their facility. The Houston Astros organization is a staple of the city of Corpus Christi, and the entire state of Texas for all that matter. I love fighting in Texas, its where I’m from, and it is a major honor to entertain so many people, especially those who will be in attendance at Whataburger field on September 22nd. Everyone watching my fight, is going to see something special.

On defending her NABF Lightweight title..

“The NABF lightweight title means the world to me at this point in my career, and defending it is very important. I live for people to call me ‘champ’ and to not have a belt, would mean I didn’t work hard enough to keep it. I can’t let that happen, so I am working tremendously hard to keep this belt, because not just do I want to defend it, but I also want to fight for a world title as well, which means I cannot lose the NABF strap.

On the landscape of the lightweight division…

“This is the best division in all of women’s boxing in my opinion. We have Mikaela Mayer and Katie Taylor, who I think are two very talented fighters. I also think Amanda Serrano should be considered in this division, even though she went up multiple weight classes and made history by becoming a six-division world champ. Quite simply said, I want to fight all of them and I want to prove I am the best fighter in this division. I am training and working hard so that I can be the first female fighter to make a million dollars in the ring. I’m going to be a million-dollar baby, and my fighting style will be the reason.”

TWO UNDEFEATED FEMALE WARRIORS COLLIDE ON JULY 7, 2018; BARRIOS vs. SATYBALDINOVA

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Juni 6, 2018) – Two of boxing’s most exciting female fighters will meet in a battle of unbeaten lightweights on Saturday July 7, 2018, wanneer Selina “Aztec Queen” Buurten (3-0, 1 KO) en Aida “Lady Sparta” Satybaldinova (3-0-1) square off at the American Bank Center Water Garden Room, in Corpus Christi, TX. De 8-ronde main event bout will take place on the “Battle By The Bay 3” kaart, gepromoot door Reyna Promotions.

 

Buurten, recognized by her people as the female Roberto Duran, is the current NABF Lightweight champion. Barrios fights out of San Antonio, TX, and is coming off an impressive victory against Lisa Porter. Selina is looking to make a statement against Satybaldinova.

 

“From what I heard, Aida Satybaldinova likes to bring the fight to her opponent,” said Selina Barrios, sister of undefeated super-lightweight Mario Barrios (21-0, 13 KO). “I love fighters that come forward, so I know this is going to be an all out war. Met dat gezegd zijnde, I feel my power is going to be too much for her. I’ll be looking to take her out before the final bell rings. Everyone watching this fight is going to see non-stop action from both sides.”

 

Satybaldinova, known as the female Triple GGG, is the current WBF International Lightweight champion. Satybaldinova, who originally hails from Astana, Kazachstan, now lives in the United States where she trains out of Hollywood, ZOALS.

 

“Selina Barrios has never been in the ring with a fighter like myself,” stated Aida Satybaldinova, who is managed by GM3 Promotions. “I’m true pressure fighter with power in both hands. I have confidence that I will keep my record undefeated. I’m proud fighter who fights from Kazakhstan and I like Mexican style fighter. They stand and fight, not run.”

 

A rematch clause has been negotiated between both fighter’s camps as both of their respective titles will not be on the line in this bout. If the rematch does indeed happen, both titles will be up for grabs.

 

“This is going to be a crowd-pleasing fight for the fans,” zei Kerry Daigle, Buurten’ advisor. “I know Aida is one hell of a fighter who is going to leave everything in the ring. Selina on the other hand is on another level. Barrios is the future of female boxing and I see her coming out victorious.”

 

“I glad we were able to come to an agreement to make this fight happen because I know Aida is going to win,” Rodney Hunt of GM3 Promotions, zei. “Barrios is good, but she’s never seen a fighter like Aida. She is strong, trots, and determined. Eén ding weet ik zeker, the fans are in for a great night of boxing. It’s great match-ups like this that helps keep female boxing on the forefront.”

Former world title challenger Jerry Belmontes officially retires

Corpus Chrusti, Texas (Januari 4, 2017) –Former Lightweight world title contender, Jerry ‘Corpus Christi Kid’ Belmontes, 21-10(6kos) has decided to hang up his gloves and cross over to the business side of boxing.

The fighting pride of Corpus Christi, Belmontes began fighting at age 10. He learned to use his great footwork and slippery style to build himself into a decorated amateur; winnend 117 van zijn aanvallen. Jerry began his professional career under the Top Rank promotional arm. After a split with the company in 2010, Jerry later inked a deal with Main Events which was also short lived. His final pact with a promotional company came from Golden Boy which presented big opportunities against big names. In controversial fashion, Belmontes was handed a split decision loss in which many thought he had beaten Figueroa.
The second half of Belmontes career was a downward spiral, losing 6 of his final 8 gevechten. He was stopped for the first time in his career by current WBA Lightweight champion Jason Sosa. In his final bout, Belmontes was defeated by Julian Rodriguez in Florida.
Belmontes faced 5 wereldkampioenen, and had wins over 4 undefeated foes.

“It is weird retiring at 28 {jaar oud} but I had a great career. I fought on TV, represented my city {Lichaam van Christus} and family name. I got to make a little money and was able to provide a different life for my wife and kids. Most importantly, I walk away in one piece and not in bad health.”

Jerry believes his career was indeed an education for him to guide fighters and help them on the business side of the sport.

“I learned a lot about the business of boxing in my 9 jaar. Although my time retired will be mostly spent with my wife and kids, I will be announcing the start of a new company with my manager {Adrian Clark} that will help educate and protect fighters.”

Belmontes is holding a press conference at the American Bank Center on Januari 11, 2017in Corpus Christi, Texas to officially announce his retirement.

SAN ANTONIO, TX (Augustus 26, 2015) – Ongeslagen rijzende ster, Super-vedergewicht Mario Barrios(10-0, 5 KO), zal een snelle terugkeer terug te brengen in de ring op Zondag, September 6, 2015 tegen Jonathan “Popeye” Perez (33-12, 27 KO). Het gevecht van 8 ronden vindt plaats in het American Bank Center, in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Afgelopen juli, Barrios gooide het in zijn eerste acht ronde Bout, bewijst zichzelf dat hij effectief kan bestrijden in de latere rondes desnoods.
“Mijn laatste nacht ging ik acht rondes voor de eerste keer, en om eerlijk te zijn, Ik voelde dat ik kon gemakkelijk heb gingen twaalf. Dat is een bewijs van mijn team en iedereen om me heen, dat is het helpen van me beter. Ik heb nog veel te leren, maar ik voel mijn prik wordt steeds beter. Ik ben beginnen om mijn combinaties met mijn jab en ik kan zien waarom dat zo belangrijk is punch. Ik ben steeds bezig met het gebruik van mijn lengte en diepte voordeel.”
Beheerd door Al HAYMON, Barrios blijft druk, want dit wordt zijn vierde gevecht van het jaar. Zoals zijn carrière stijgt, Barrios is dankbaar voor het geweldige team om hem heen.

GH3 Promotions tekenen ongeslagen Super Lichtgewicht Steve Belmontes

Nutley, NJ(April 6, 2015)— Hard-hitting slugger / boxer, Steve Belmontes, 1-0 van Corpus Christi, TX heeft een meerjarige deal met GH3 Promotions ondertekend.
Belmontes maakte zijn professionele debuut augustus 7, 2014 in zijn woonplaats Corpus Christi tegen gladde boksen James Burns. Steve domineerde de strijd; winnen met eenparigheid van stemmen. “Ik ben altijd op zoek naar de knock-out. Burns was lastig, want hij bewoog en gebruikte de ring goed, maar ik weet hoe af te snijden van de ring en maak jongens doen wat ze niet willen doen, dat is uitwisseling met mij”.
Steve, net als zijn broer wordt beheerd door 28 jarige manager, Adrian Clark van Dallas, TX die de deal met Vito Mielnicki afgerond vorige week. “Ik heb iedereen te vertellen dat Steve is een koopje. Hij heeft 100 amateur gevechten, goede boksen stamboom en een stijl die zal verkopen indien correct geduwd. Na een telefoongesprek met Vito en het doen van mijn onderzoek heb ik wist GH3 was de beste manier om te gaan. Dit is een spannende tijd voor iedereen die betrokken is.”
