SAN ANTONIO, TX (Septembro 13, 2018) – Undefeated NABF Lightweight champion, Selina “asteka Reĝino” Barrios (4-0, 2 KOs) is getting ready for her Corpus Christi Showdown on September 22, 2018, against Patricia Juarez (4-0), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Mariana “Barbie” Juarez (50-9-4, 13 KOs).

On the line will be Selina’s NABF Lightweight title. The 10-round bout will take place at Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Training camp has begun and this is what Barrios has had to say:

On her recent training camp in San Antonio…

“Training camp has been very challenging but its going to be worth every minute. I feel very motivated for this camp. I truly believe I am the best in my division and for that to continue to be true, I must train harder than others, and that’s what I’m doing. I understand that Patricia Juarez is undefeated and a very tough opponent. That’s why I’m training extremely hard, because I respect her skill level. On defending her NABF Lightweight title..

“The NABF lightweight title means the world to me at this point in my career, and defending it is very important. I live for people to call me ‘champ’ and to not have a belt, would mean I didn’t work hard enough to keep it. I can’t let that happen, so I am working tremendously hard to keep this belt, because not just do I want to defend it, but I also want to fight for a world title as well, which means I cannot lose the NABF strap.

On the landscape of the lightweight division…

“This is the best division in all of women’s boxing in my opinion. We have Mikaela Mayer and Katie Taylor, who I think are two very talented fighters. I also think Amanda Serrano should be considered in this division, even though she went up multiple weight classes and made history by becoming a six-division world champ. Quite simply said, I want to fight all of them and I want to prove I am the best fighter in this division. I am training and working hard so that I can be the first female fighter to make a million dollars in the ring. I’m going to be a million-dollar baby, and my fighting style will be the reason.”

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Junio 6, 2018) – Two of boxing’s most exciting female fighters will meet in a battle of unbeaten lightweights on Saturday July 7, 2018, kiam Selina “asteka Reĝino” Barrios (3-0, 1 KO) Kaj Aida “Lady Sparta” Satybaldinova (3-0-1) square off at the American Bank Center Water Garden Room, in Corpus Christi, TX. “From what I heard, Aida Satybaldinova likes to bring the fight to her opponent,” said Selina Barrios, sister of undefeated super-lightweight Mario Barrios (21-0, 13 KOs). “I love fighters that come forward, so I know this is going to be an all out war. Satybaldinova, known as the female Triple GGG, is the current WBF International Lightweight champion. Satybaldinova, who originally hails from Astana, #Kaza?io, now lives in the United States where she trains out of Hollywood, CA.

 

“Selina Barrios has never been in the ring with a fighter like myself,” stated Aida Satybaldinova, who is managed by GM3 Promotions. “I’m true pressure fighter with power in both hands. I have confidence that I will keep my record undefeated. I’m proud fighter who fights from Kazakhstan and I like Mexican style fighter. They stand and fight, not run.”

 

A rematch clause has been negotiated between both fighter’s camps as both of their respective titles will not be on the line in this bout. If the rematch does indeed happen, both titles will be up for grabs.

 

“This is going to be a crowd-pleasing fight for the fans,” Dirita Kerry Daigle, Barrios’ advisor. “I know Aida is one hell of a fighter who is going to leave everything in the ring. Selina on the other hand is on another level. Barrios is the future of female boxing and I see her coming out victorious.”

 

“I glad we were able to come to an agreement to make this fight happen because I know Aida is going to win,” Rodney Hunt of GM3 Promotions, Dirita. “Barrios is good, but she’s never seen a fighter like Aida. She is strong, Fiera, and determined. One thing I know for sure, the fans are in for a great night of boxing. It’s great match-ups like this that helps keep female boxing on the forefront.”

Former world title challenger Jerry Belmontes officially retires

Corpus Chrusti, Teksaso (Januaro 4, 2017) –Former Lightweight world title contender, Jerry ‘Corpus Christi Kid’ Belmontes, 21-10(6kos) has decided to hang up his gloves and cross over to the business side of boxing.

The fighting pride of Corpus Christi, Belmontes began fighting at age 10. He learned to use his great footwork and slippery style to build himself into a decorated amateur; Gajnanta 117 de siaj atakoj. Jerry began his professional career under the Top Rank promotional arm. After a split with the company in 2010, Jerry later inked a deal with Main Events which was also short lived. Undefeated Super-featherweight Sensation Mario Barrios Returns Sept 6 in Corpus Christi

SAN ANTONIO, TX (#A?gusto 26, 2015) – Unbeaten rising star, Super-Featherweight Mario Barrios(10-0, 5 KOs), will make a quick return back to the ring on #Diman?o, Septembro 6, 2015 Kontraŭ Jonathan “Popeye” Perez (33-12, 27 KOs). This past July, Barrios went the distance in his first eight round bout, proving to himself that he can fight effectively in the later rounds if need be.
“My last night I went eight rounds for the first time, and to be honest, I felt I could’ve went twelve easily. That’s a testament to my team and everyone around me that’s helping me get better. I’m still have a lot to learn but I feel my jab is getting much better. I’m starting to set up my combinations with my jab and I can see why that punch is so important. I’m steadily working on using my height and reach advantage.”
Managed by Al Haymon, Barrios is staying busy as this will be his fourth fight of the year. As his career is ascending, Barrios is grateful for the great team around him.
