COURONNE, Californie. (Novembre. 4, 2016) - Tares "La vraie affaire Shelestyuk a maintenu un record invaincu et a poursuivi son ascension dans la division des poids welters avec un, décision unanime en 10 rounds sur son adversaire le plus coriace à ce jour, Jimmy "La vérité" Herrera en Vendredi de événement principal d'un ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération tripleheader en direct sur AFFICHER L'HEURE de l'extérieur Produits Oméga Centre d'événements à Corona, Californie.

 

Shelestyuk (15-0, 9 KOs), la 2012 Médaillé de bronze aux Jeux Olympiques pour l'Ukraine, a été victorieux par les scores de 96-93 deux fois et 95-94. Malgré un courage, performances granuleuses, Herrera (15-4-1, 8 KOs), de Chicago, Illinois, a connu une séquence de trois victoires consécutives. Il n'y avait pas passes rabattues.

 

Dans un rugueux et dégringoler, collision sanglante de cruiserweights invaincus dans le co-métrage, gaucher Constantin Bejenaru (12-0, 4 KOs, 0-1-1 en World Series of Boxing), de Catskill, N. Y.. via la Moldavie, a survécu à un renversement et à plusieurs coups de tête involontaires pour enregistrer une décision unanime de 10 rounds sur Steve Bujaj (16-1-1, 11 KOs), de New York.

 

Fan favori local Manuel "La Tempête" Mendez (13-1-2, 9 KOs), Indio, Calif., enregistré un coup de poing impressionnant, 2:32 KO au premier tour sur invaincu auparavant Vitor Jones Freitas (12-1, 1 Dakota du Nord, 6 KOs), de Salvador, Bahia, Brésil, dans un combat prévu de huit rounds qui a ouvert la télédiffusion.

 

Le gaucher Shelestyuk, qui est entré dans le ring classé Non. 9 dans la WBO et non. 13 dans la WBA, a repoussé une offre déterminée de Herrera pour gagner malgré l'obtention d'un point pour détention excessive au cinquième tour.

 

« Ce fut un combat difficile,'' Shelestyuk. "C'est un combattant coriace, il est lent mais il a bien travaillé. Dans le premier tour, J'ai bien fait mais mes jambes sont allées sur moi. Je pense que c'est parce que je n'ai pas bien dormi.

 

"Après cinq rounds, j'ai commencé à trouver mon rythme. j'ai commencé à le boxer. J'ai fait des erreurs là-dedans comme tirer directement en arrière. Ce combat me rendra meilleur. Comme je le disais, il était dur mais rien de spécial. Quand mes jambes sont allées, J'ai commencé à travailler à l'intérieur. Je l'ai bien battu au dernier tour et s'il y avait 30 secondes de plus, j'aurais pu l'arrêter.

 

« J'ai hâte d'être plus actif dans 2017. Je vais prendre deux ou trois semaines de congé et je serai de retour au gymnase.

 

"The Truth" fait mal et Herrera a eu plus que sa juste part de moments dans un combat serré. Herrera, un pro depuis décembre 2009, considéré comme un test légitime pour Shelestyuk et il était. Mais Taras était plus actif (atterrissage 169 de 689 poinçons, par rapport à Herrera 130 de 460). Chaque connecté 28 pour cent du temps.

 

Herrera, qui avait battu des espoirs invaincus dans quatre des neuf combats précédents, n'était pas content du verdict. «C'était un bon combat. Il n'y a pas grand chose que je puisse dire. Je pensais que c'était plus proche que les scores indiqués. Je me suis amusé là-dedans et je lui donne du crédit. Il était tout ce que j'attendais. C’est un combattant intelligent.’’

 

"Je vivrais pour être un mannequin de test pour tous ces jeunes espoirs. Je pensais que ça aurait pu être un match nul, mais les gens qui l’ont vu à la télé peuvent avoir leur avis.’’

 

Faire son deuxième ShoBox Démarrer, Bejenaru a triomphé par les scores de 97-91 sur les tableaux de bord des trois juges. Le gaucher est descendu d'un clean, contre le crochet gauche au menton dans le cinquième et a eu le pire des coups de tête involontaires, mais a semblé surpasser et combattre un Bujaj réticent la plupart du temps.

 

Un cruiserweight court avec un maladroit, style saccadé Bejenaru a insisté sur le problème tout au long et était beaucoup plus actif, jeter plus de 100 plus de coups que Bujaj (454-336) et moyenné 45 coups de poing lancés par tour par rapport à 38 pour Bujaj.

 

"C'est un sale combattant,'' a déclaré Bejenaru après un match au cours duquel il a subi une mauvaise coupure à l'œil gauche et une grosse zébrure au-dessus de sa tête.. "Tu regardes tous ses combats, tout ce qu'il fait c'est diriger avec sa tête. J'ai été touché par ses coups de tête mais il n'y avait aucune chance que j'arrête. il se plaint beaucoup, mais tout ce qu'il a fait était immonde. J'ai eu l'impression qu'il m'avait mordu à l'oreille gauche après… c'est comme ça qu'il se bat.

 

« Le sport c'est la boxe, ne nage pas et il agite ses coups comme un nageur, un combattant de rue, pas un combattant pro. Il m'a attrapé d'un tir net au knockdown mais je me suis relevé et je n'ai pas été blessé.

 

« Cette victoire est une étape importante dans ma carrière. Cela m’aidera à continuer à me hisser dans le classement sur la voie d’un tir au titre.’’

 

Bujaj, qui faisait ses débuts avec ShoBox, était livide après.

 

"L'enfer, ouais, Je suis en colère,"Il a dit. « Le score était mauvais. Je savais dans quoi je m'embarquais en me battant dans son jardin, mais je pensais vraiment que j'avais gagné. je l'ai renversé. Il ne m'a jamais fait de mal.

 

Mendez à l'esprit agressif est sorti patiemment et a permis à Freitas de lancer la majorité des premiers coups de poing. Le premier coup de poing significatif de Mendez du combat était un crochet gauche paralysant au corps qui a mis Freitas à terre et se tordait de douleur.

 

"J'ai été surpris qu'il n'ait pas bien pris cette photo du corps, dit Mendez, est qui est formé par Joel Diaz. "Je savais que je l'avais blessé, mais je pensais qu'il se lèverait. J'ai vu qu'il ne se couvrait pas très bien, alors je savais que j'allais finir par en décrocher un.”

 

"J'étais étonnamment nerveux avant de me battre. j'étais un peu timide pour commencer. Je sors généralement plus fort, mais cela n'avait pas d'importance car nous avons obtenu le résultat que nous voulions.”

 

"Je suis excité pour la victoire à élimination directe. Je sais que ça n'a pas duré longtemps, mais j'espère que les téléspectateurs l'ont apprécié.”

 

Freitas a contrôlé la majeure partie du tour avec son mouvement et ses coups de poing plus nets, mais un crochet sauvage au corps — sa troisième connexion au corps — laissé le Brésilien sur la toile longtemps après le 10 compter.

 

“j'ai foiré,'' a déclaré un Jones Freitas en larmes. "Je me suis arrêté au mauvais moment et il m'a frappé avec le bon coup de poing. Cela ne signifie rien pour moi. Je vais continuer à travailler dur et à m'entraîner dur. Je veux une revanche.”

COURONNE, Californie. (Novembre. 3, 2016) – Les six combattants qui s'affronteront ce vendredi sur ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération en poids jeudi pour le triple titre SHOWTIME en direct (10:30 p.m. ET/PT, retardés sur la côte ouest) du centre d'événements Omega Products à Corona.

 

Invaincu 2012 Jeux Olympiques médaillé de bronze Taras "Real Deal" Shelestyuk (14-0, 9 KOs), de Los Angeles, fera ses débuts dans le Main Event lorsqu'il affrontera Jimmy Herrera (15-3-1, 8 KOs), de Chicago, Illinois, dans l'attraction vedette de 10 rondes. Shelestyuk, un membre du célèbre 2012 équipe olympique d'Ukraine, est classé No. 9 par la WBO et n °. 13 dans la WBA. Herrera a battu des espoirs invaincus dans quatre des neuf derniers combats et est 8-1-1 globalement depuis juillet 2012.

"Je suis sûr que Herrera va probablement essayer de venir à moi; il n'y a aucune chance qu'il puisse me battre à la boxe. J'aime les gars qui s'avancent. Ils sont bons pour moi parce que je peux contrer et me déplacer d'un côté à l'autre. Et je suis prêt à me battre à l'intérieur si nécessaire.

 

« Je sais que je peux améliorer mon dernier ShoBox lutte. Je l'ai fait plus près qu'il n'aurait dû l'être. Si c'était à refaire, je pense que je l'arrêterais peut-être juste à cause de ce sur quoi nous travaillons dans le gymnase.

 

« Sparring avec Shane Mosley a été énorme pour moi. C'est un si grand combattant. Quand j'étais plus jeune, je regarderais ses combats. Maintenant on s'entraîne. JIMMY HERRERA:

"J'ai travaillé pendant deux mois complets pour ce combat donc je suis prêt. Cela va être un très bon test pour nous deux, un grand combat. C'est un bon boxeur européen, un autre invaincu pour moi. Mais je n'ai pas du tout l'impression d'être l'opprimé. Il a ses atouts, j'ai mes atouts.

 

"Il doit y avoir un but pour chaque coup de poing. Chacun doit compter. S'il s'ouvre et fait une erreur, je dois en profiter. Je dois le sortir de son rythme tôt, le forcer à sortir de sa zone de confort et lui faire combattre mon combat.

 

« Je serai l'agresseur. Mais j'aimerais s'il était l'agresseur. je pense simplement, bien que, le connaissant, il va essayer de boxer et gagner les rounds comme ça. Je travaille tout le temps en avançant et c'est ce que je ferai demain.

 

« Un gamin de Chicago, comme moi, il est difficile d'aller n'importe où dans la boxe sans connexions, donc finalement après s'être battu si longtemps sans manager, J'ai signé avec Cameron Dunkin. J'ai toujours su que je pouvais être un bon boxeur, mais je n'ai jamais pensé que je serais un boxeur. Mais regarde moi savoir, Je me bats sur SHOWTIME et ce combat ne pourrait pas arriver à un meilleur moment.

 

CONSTANTIN BEJENARU:

« Je pense que votre carrière d'amateur vous donne une bonne base, comme un débutant, mais une fois que vous devenez pro, c'est un jeu totalement différent. Peu importe qui a plus d'expérience en tant qu'amateur. En tant que professionnels, nous devons tous faire notre travail ici.

 

"Je ne connais pas Bujaj, mais j'ai vu son combat avec Junior Wright donc je sais qu'il est dur.

 

"Je pense que c'est un grand pas pour moi. Il est 16-0, un bon combattant qui peut frapper ou boxer, et c'est pour une ceinture. C'est un bon combat pour nous deux.

"Je travaille dur pour chaque combat et cela ne fait pas exception. Nous savons que nous devons faire attention aux détails. C'est un gars dangereux mais je suis très confiant.

 

"Je ne m'attends vraiment pas à un combat facile. Je dois appuyer sur l'action. Je dois le mettre aussi mal à l'aise que possible.

 

"Je n'ai pas beaucoup de KO professionnels mais la boxe n'est pas seulement une question de puissance. La boxe c'est l'intelligence et le mental; ce n'est pas juste un combat de rue pour moi.

 

"C'est mon deuxième combat sur ShoBox. Je suis tellement heureux d'être de retour après cette dernière victoire contre Zubov. Le but est de s'occuper, revenez au début de l'année prochaine, puis d'ici l'année prochaine, soyez prêt à vous battre pour un titre majeur d'un certain type.

 

STEVE BUJAJ:

 

"J'attends ce combat avec impatience, mon premier à la télévision en réseau, pour voir où j'en suis. La façon dont je me sens, j'ai tout a gagner, tout à perdre. Cela me pousse au prochain niveau, ou je reste où je suis.

 

"Je suis prêt pour tout type de combat. Je suis un combattant polyvalent et j'aurai l'avantage de la hauteur.

 

"Je me sens prêt maintenant pour les plus gros combats, l'exposition supplémentaire sur SHOWTIME, les cotes, les titres, tout. Mais je le serai certainement encore plus après Vendredi.

 

"Je ne sens pas que ça va 10 tours. Je sens que je vais le briser et éventuellement l'arrêter. Je sens que j'ai les compétences et certainement le cœur. Je suis en bonne santé et prêt à partir.

 

"J'ai vu son dernier combat le ShoBox, et je pensais que c'était assez décent. Il est assez petit pour un cruiserweight. Bien que nous soyons tous les deux de New York, Je n'avais jamais entendu parler de lui avant.

 

"Le camp s'est super bien passé avec beaucoup de sparring. À Las Vegas. Je me suis entraîné avec des combattants de Mayweather comme Ronald Gavril, Badou Jack et l'usine de Caleb. Cela fait quatre ans que je n'ai pas combattu un gaucher mais je ne le considère pas comme un facteur.''

 

VITOR JONES FREITAS:

"Je remercie Dieu et mes deux oncles de m'avoir aidé à arriver là où je suis, pour m'avoir appris et guidé à chaque étape de ma vie et en boxe. Sans leur influence et ce qu'ils ont fait pour moi depuis que je suis 11, Je sens que je serais mort aujourd'hui.

 

"Je suis très excité à propos de ce combat et de l'opportunité de combattre de meilleurs gars. Pour moi, il s'agit de profiter de l'opportunité.

 

"Je gagne de plus en plus d'expérience. Mon objectif est de travailler dur et, comme mon oncle Acelino, faire de bons combats et devenir champion du monde“

 

"Nous avons étudié le style de combat de Mendez et avons beaucoup de respect pour son entraîneur, Joel Diaz. Je sais que Mendez est très fort et s'avance. Je ne sais pas s'il aime quand ses adversaires attaquent sur les côtés mais je suis prêt à le combattre sur les côtés, de la tête aux pieds et des pieds à la tête.

 

MANUEL MENDEZ:

 

"C'est mon neuvième combat avec Joel et nous nous connaissons très bien. A travers le mal et le bien, il a été là pour moi.

 

«Je suis sûr que Freitas a confiance en ses capacités, mais comme tout autre combattant invaincu, il se débrouille bien jusqu'à ce qu'il heurte le mur., c'est ce que Joël veut que je lui fasse faire. Il veut que je le punisse, prendre mon temps.

 

« Je sens que j'ai un pouvoir naturel, peut prendre un coup de poing et avoir du cœur. Frappe moi autant que tu veux, mais attention une fois que je me connecte et que je change les choses. Mon objectif est toujours de les briser, en commençant par le corps.

 

"Je n'ai peut-être pas le pedigree de certains de ces gars, mais j'apprends la défense, comment me rythmer, rester calme et surtout, juste comment se battre. Plus d'expérience, plus tu deviens mature.

 

"Demain Je veux juste être moi et écouter Joel dans le coin. Je ne voudrais pas être à ma place. S'il veut se lever et bang, Faisons le. Je vous garantis que c'est lui qui revient après les premiers instants.

Y., intervient avant son important combat de 10 rounds avec un autre invaincu Constantin Bejenaru (11-0, 3 KOs, 0-1-1 dans les World Series of Boxing), de Brooklyn, N. Y., au milieu du match d'une ShoBox: Le triple en-tête de la nouvelle génération ce Vendredi, Novembre. 4, du centre d'événements Omega Products à Corona, Californie.
Bujaj (prononcé “Boo-ha”), 26, a gagné quatre fois de suite, y compris ses deux derniers par KO, depuis qu'il a boxé un match nul en 10 rounds dans un slugfest avec Junior Wright, triple champion des Golden Gloves de Chicago, alors invaincu (10-0) en Mai 2014. Un double champion des Golden Gloves de New York, Bujah, qui se battra sur ShoBox la première fois, vient de remporter un TKO au premier tour contre Sergio Ramirez, invaincu auparavant (11-0) sur Juin 11

Bejenaru (prononcé “bay-zhin-nah-ROO”) fait son deuxième départ ShoBox. Que savez-vous de Bejenaru et quelles sont vos pensées?

“Je sais qu'il est invaincu, 11-0 et un gaucher, but I don’t believe he’s on my level. I think I’m a different class fighter and will be able to show it vendredi.”

What kind of fight do you expect?

“I don’t really have any expectations. When I get in there, I make my adjustments, and then I start breaking him down.”

What is the key to winning? What are your advantages?

“My best advantage is my experience. I’ve fought 10 tours avant. This is his first time. I believe that I’m more skilled than he is, and I believe that I have more heart and just think I have the edge all around.”

On fighting on ShoBox the first time?

“I’m very excited and grateful for the opportunity that has been given me. I’m ready to go out and perform and show the world what I’m all about — et c'est l'un des meilleurs gars de la division cruiserweight.”

Votre avis sur la division cruiserweight?

“La division cruiserweight est une bonne division avec beaucoup de bons combattants. J'ai l'impression qu'il y aura plus d'exposition à l'avenir car il y a tellement de combattants talentueux et de bons combats qui peuvent arriver. J'ai hâte de faire partie de certains des grands combats et de faire du bruit.”

Que signifierait pour vous une victoire sur ShoBox?

“Une victoire sur SHOWTIME serait vraiment énorme, mais surtout ça me ferait continuer.”

Font-ils une erreur en te combattant?

“je ne pense pas qu'il s'est trompé, mais je refuse de perdre ce combat. je vais tout donner. Il n'est pas à mon niveau et je vais le prouver. Je vais me battre.”

Sur son slugfest avec l'ancien challenger du titre mondial Wright?
“Je gagnais le combat mais je me suis cassé la mâchoire au quatrième round. j'ai eu un mauvais embout buccal, un pas cher. Je ne savais pas que les embouchures devaient être ajustées. Le chirurgien m'a dit si j'avais eu un bec pro, je n'aurais pas eu de problème.
“Je crois toujours que n'importe qui d'autre aurait abandonné ce combat. j'avais très mal, Je ne pouvais pas fermer ma bouche parce que la mâchoire était cassée, je crachais du sang. Mais je me suis accroché malgré la mâchoire.

“Je l'ai sorti debout dans la dernière demi-minute environ, mais l'arbitre a arrêté le combat pour lui laisser le temps de scotcher un des lacets de son gant.. Cela lui a donné le temps de récupérer. Si l'arbitre ne l'avait pas arrêté quand il l'a fait, J'ai l'impression que je l'aurais assommé.”

Sur sa carrière?

“J'ai dû travailler dur pour ma carrière. Je n'ai pas de dossier rembourré. Je ne l'ai pas aussi facile que la plupart dans leur carrière. Je n'ai pas de grand promoteur, et je ne suis pas choyé. Russian cruiserweight is back in action on Novembre 12 at the latest ‘Detroit Brawl’ at the Masonic Temple

Last April at the Turning Stone in Verona, New York, and with the ShoBox: The New Generation cameras rolling, Alexey Zubov admits he choked.

“I was nervous. I never fought on a big show,” explained Zubov of the unanimous decision loss he suffered to Moldova’s Constantin Bejenaru. “It was such a huge step in my career and I felt frozen by nerves.”
Fighters often make excuses when they lose, but with Zubov, there may be some validity. Normally a very active fighter with a high work rate, Zubov appeared listless and sluggish for eight uneventful rounds.
“Life doesn’t always go the way you want. Losing that fight made me stronger. It was a good lesson for me and it was good for my experience to fight on that level. And now I know what it’s like. That will never happen again.”
Zubov will continue his quest for another shot at the big time on Samedi, Novembre 12, at Salita Promotions’ “La bagarre de Détroit” event at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit.

Originally from Magnitogorsk, Russie, Zubov says he’s enjoyed his last eight months living in Detroit and working with the late Emanuel Steward’s nephew Javan “Sucre” Hill at the resurgent Kronk Gym.
“I came to Detroit to become a champion. I want to show everyone that I’m a world-class cruiserweight and I want to show everyone all the things Javan has been teaching me. He is a great trainer and I have a very good relationship him.”
When not in training, Zubov says he loves the challenge of adapting to a new culture, virtually alone.
“I only miss my parents, but we talk everyday on Skype or Facetime and they support me all the way. I don’t have many Russian-speaking friends in Detroit. Most of the time, I practice my English to try and learn it well. Chaque jour, I challenge myself to learn new words. I’ve always been like that. Just like my boxing skills. Every day I push myself to be better.”
Zubov says in near-perfect English that he’d love the chance to settle some unfinished business.

“I want a rematch with Bejenaru so bad. I can do so much better than that. I know I can. I will prove I can. I will not stop until I do.”

TARAS SHELESTYUK VS. JAIME HERRERA – 10-Round Welterweight Main Event

Taras Shelestyuk (pronounced “TARE-as SHELL-es-took) moyenne 85 punches per round in his ShoBox debut last November, winning an impressive 10-round unanimous decision over Aslanbek Kozak. In his most recent start and lone outing this year last Mai 20, the 5-foot-10, 30-year-old Shelestyuk knocked out Erick Martinez in the third round at Ontario, Californie.

 

“My training is going great, I am more powerful and my speed is better,” said the former international standout. “Herrera is a rough fighter, but it doesn’t matter to me because I am looking to step up and get into championship level fights.’’

CONSTANTIN BEJENARU VS. STIVENS BUJAJ – 10-Round Cruiserweight Bout

Bejenaru (pronounced “bay-zhin-nah-ROO”) was an accomplished amateur. The southpaw boxed on the Romanian national team for 10 ans et a été neuf fois champion national.

This is Bujaj’s third scheduled 10-round start, while Bejenaru will be making his 10-round debut.

Two outings ago, Freitas captured the Brazilian lightweight crown with a 10-round decision over Sidney Siquiera. This will Freitas’ sixth U.S. Démarrer; his last five fights were in Brazil.

 

“My uncle had many great fights on SHOWTIME and on Novembre. 4, I am looking to carry on his legacy,” Freitas said. “This will be another step in following in his footsteps to become a world champion.’’

 

Mendez, who is trained by the respected Joel Diaz, is coming off a fourth-round knockout over Erick Martinez this past Sept. 23 en Ontario. Mendez used a strong, bruising style in which he mixed his punches well to punish Martinez. Le 5-foot-8, 26-year-old Mendez has gone 12-0-2 since getting stopped in his pro debut in October 2010.

VERONA, N. Y.. (Avril 15, 2016) – Undefeated bantamweight prospects Nikolay Potapov et Stephon Jeune fought to a majority draw in theShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération événement principal Vendredi on SHOWTIME from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, N. Y..

 

The bout was scored 96-94 Potapov and 95-95 deux fois.

 

Potapov and Young were facing their toughest opponents in each other. Potapov (14-0-1, 6 KOs) controlled the pace early with his jab and was the more active fighter, throwing nearly double the punches that Young threw. Young picked up steam and gained confidence in the middle rounds and was at his best when he pressed the action and let his hands go. But the Russian Potapov, who had gone at least 10 rounds in his last six fights, was clearly more comfortable as the fight progressed.

 

After slowing in the seventh and eighth, Jeune (14-0-3, 6 KOs) found another gear in an impressive ninth, winning the penultimate round on all the judges’ scorecards. Mais, even after urgent instructions from his corner, Young couldn’t carry the momentum into the 10e and lost the final round on all three scorecards.

“He was a good classical boxer, but he’s too straight up and he couldn’t adjust,” Bejenaru said. “It wasn’t as easy as it looked to beat him. I adjusted my style to do that because I knew it would make him hesitate. I knew if I just constantly attacked him he wouldn’t know what to do.”

 

Zubov and Bernardo are now the 146e et 147e boxers to suffer their first pro loss on the prospect developmental series.

“I’ve been in Detroit for the last two months and I am so happy; I want to stay here, train here and live here,” said Zubov. “Every Russian fighter knows about Kronk Gym and Emanuel Steward.”
Zubov is currently winding down camp with his trainer and Steward’s nephew Javan “Sucre” Hill at the resurgent Kronk Gym. “I like Javan’s style,” said Zubov, “and I’ve learned so much about hand speed and footwork and about using intelligence in the ring – how you need to think when you’re in a fight.”
“Alexey is able to learn a lot and absorb boxing knowledge easily,” M. Hill. “He barely speaks English and yet he soaks it in. C'est incroyable. I brought him in to spar with Banks and when we were training, Alexey just sat on the side and watched. Plus tard, he was sparring with Johnathon and I told him to stop. I said ‘listen here. I’m training Jonathon Banks and you’re doing everything I told him to do. What’s wrong with you?’ Then I laughed and said ‘I like that. Keep watching. I’ll teach you everything you want to know.’ “
Hill says this camp with Zubov was a transition for the fighter. “We are moving into the championship level where you train for a specific fighter. A lot of it is strategy and planning. The only thing I worry about is him being too excited. He’s very high-strung and wants to prove things. I have to control him and keep him from getting over-excited. That’s what we’ve been working on. He gets antsy when he’s excited.”

The 29-year-old Bernardo (21-0, 15 KOs) de Saint-Domingue, is hard at work at Hank’s Gym in Houston, with his trainer, former IBF World Middleweight Champion Frank Tate.

Bernardo says he still doesn’t know much about opponent Menard, but isn’t worried about it. “I watched a few of his fights on YouTube, but I’m training for anything that comes my way. Everything is going to go great for me that night. It’s my ring that night and I will have my way. I will win.”
This is opportunity is a long-time coming for the 29-year-old and he says he plans on making the most of it. “I’m very excited about fighting on ShoBox and I look forward to putting on a show. I’ve been waiting for long time for this opportunity and want to thank Dmitriy Salita for making it happen.”
The 27-year-old Menard (30-1-0, 22 KOs), de Rayne, Le., is rated No. 15 par la WBA à 135 livres. He’s training at Red Lerille’s Health & Racquet Club in Lafayette with trainer and former fighter “Mal” Tchad Broussard.

Menard says despite the usual aches and pain experienced in camp he is 100 percent and training is going well. The only adjustments he’s made is to bring in taller sparring partners.
“This is huge for me,” il a continué. “This is the ‘get up or lay down’ type of fight. If I get up, then the sky is the limit. If I fall, then maybe it’s time to look for a job. I’m going to get in there and do what I have to do. Hopefully I get the KO, but if it goes to the scorecards, I just want the win. No matter which way it goes.”
