BRISCOE AWARDS SET FOR THIS SUNDAY

It’s always great to see the mix of people that come to the Briscoe Awards. The highlight however, is throwing the spotlight on the fighters who worked so hard to entertain all of us fans. “This is the second year we’ve shined a spotlight on the many ring photographers who cover our local fight scene,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “I really appreciate what the photographers do and the contribution they make to our boxing scene. Their photos capture the highs and lows of the sport we love, and it is important to acknowledge that.”
The Briscoe Awards commemorate the biggest and best accomplishments of the Philly-area boxing scene. ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ – After ten years of celebrating the biggest and best achievements of the Philadelphia-area boxing scene, the Briscoe Awards will change the timing of their annual event, from October to March.
“For a few years now, I’ve considered moving the awards up to the first part of the year,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “The original Fall time slot caused a lot of confusion, because by the time we gave out the awards, the fights were old news. Moving to March will allow us to give out the awards shortly after the fight year ends. I’m a little nervous about making a change, but in the long run, the move will only make the Briscoe Awards better.”
The Briscoe Awards honor the key fights and fighters of the Philly area every year. A total of eleven awards will be give out ΑΥΤΟ SUNDAY MARCH 25TH AT 1 Μ.μ. Undefeated Super Flyweight Dylan “The Real Dyl” Price reflects on Briscoe Award and upcoming April 21st fight

ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ (Μάρτιος 15, 2018)–It will be a busy few weeks for undefeated super flyweight prospect Dylan “The Real Dyl” Price.
Ο 19 year-old native of Sicklerville, New Jersey who has a perfect mark of 5-0 with all of his wins coming via knockout (Including 4 στον 1ο γύρο) will be on-hand at the 11th annual Briscoe Awards to accept the prestigious Rookie of the Year award.

JARON ENNIS IS THE ONE TO WATCH IN PHILLY

BRUNSON SETS RECORD WITH THREE BRISCOE AWARDS

ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ – PA State junior middleweight champion Tyrone Brunson will be honored with three Briscoe Awards for the eventful year he had in 2017. During the year, Brunson’s efforts won him three bouts, two belts, and kept his career on track for a big fight in 2018. For these accomplishments, Brunson will take home three Briscoe Βραβεία επί March 25th– “Philly Fighter of the Year”, “Philly Καταπολέμηση της Χρονιάς”, και “Performance of the Year”. This will be the first time a fighter has won three Briscoes in a single year.

MARCEL RIVERS TO BE HONORED FOR BIGGEST KO OF THE YEAR

SPARROW BREAKS THROUGH WITH TWO BRISCOE AWARDS

The junior lightweight won four bouts during the year, including two main events, and two national TV appearances. He started 2017 as a promising young local, but by the end of the year, Sparrow had broken into the world rankings.

JASON SOSA NAMED “2016 PHILLY FIGHTER OF THE YEAR”

ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ – Camden, NJ junior lightweight Jason Sosa, takes home the Briscoe Award as the “2016 Philly Fighter of the Year”, την Κυριακή at the annual awards event presented by Philly Boxing History Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the Philadelphia fight scene – past and present.
Sosa upended the boxing world in 2016 by raising his game to the championship level and pulling off two upsets that few experts gave him the slightest chance of winning.
Πρώτα, Sosa traveled to China to face WBA champion and heavy betting favorite Javier Fortuna for the WBA belt. Fortuna was skilled and carried a points lead into round eleven. In the 11th, Sosa shocked Fortuna, and everyone watching, with a TKO victory that made the Camden fighter a world champ.

TANEAL GOYCO TO WIN “UPSET OF THE YEAR” AT BRISCOE AWARDS

ΦΙΛΑΔΕΛΦΕΙΑ – Philly super middleweight Taneal Goyco, returns to the Briscoe Awards for his second-ever trophy for the “Upset of the Year”. Goyco won the same award two years ago and repeats for 2016, with his shocker over rising Maryland prospect Jerry Odom.
The pair met on November 11, 2016, κατά το 2300 Arena στη Νότια Φιλαδέλφεια, and after a rocky start, Goyco punched his way back into the fight was declared the upset winner by TKO after five rounds.
Often taken lightly for his modest ring record, Goyco, 9-10-1, 4 KOs, has made pulling upsets his specialty. He’s recorded the “Upset of the Year” in two of the last three years.
“We’ve only given this award three times over the past ten years,” said John DiSanto of Philly Boxing History Inc. “And Taneal Goyco has won it twice. If you sleep on this guy, he makes you pay for it.”
