The event featured a full slate of professional boxing, amateur mixed-martial-arts (ММА) and professional MMA bouts. A special video tribute was presented honoring Ali prior to the beginning of the event.

Левистон, Мејн (Јун 3, 2016) – It will be a celebration of all things Americana when New England Fights (НЕФ) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisée on Saturday, Јун 18, 2016. The wildly popular fight promotion will once again give fans a full night of mixed-martial-arts (ММА) and professional boxing action.

 

In the main event of the boxing portion of the fight card, Брендон “Тхе Цаннон” Бобица (11-1-1) will defend the Northeast Junior Welterweight Title against challenger Џејмс “The Motor City Bad Boy” Lester (10-9-1). The two fought to a draw on the judges’ scorecards this past April in Lewiston. They agreed to rematch with Berry’s title on the line. The draw against Lester halted a three-fight win streak Berry had been on since returning from a shoulder injury last year.

I think those are some key ingredients to a great matchup. I have a lot of respect for James , his boxing ability, and what he brings to the table. I was impressed with his speed, his all around toughness, and his ring generalship. I’m excited to headline another card in Lewiston, and can’t wait for the crowd to enjoy my fight, along with a few other boxing matches that include some talented Maine boxers. I hope that we can draw a big crowd and have a quality night of fights. See you all on the 18th!”

 

“I’m most definitely looking forward to fighting in Maine again,” said Lester, a former top-ranked national amateur boxer. “The fans there are awesome. I even gained a few fans from my last fight who’s been messaging me on a regular like a young guy by the name of Hunter Moore who messages me every week making sure I’m training hard for the rematch.”

NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 22 Левистон

The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw Калеб Хала (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). Neither athlete can afford to overlook the other, but a win for either could very well mean a call from one of the national promotions. Erickson has been there before with Bellator. Powell is an all-around talent with some slick finishes to his credit.

Бобица, the pride of small-town West Forks, Мејн, has shined since returning from a shoulder injury last year. He has won his last three in a row, including a technical knockout (ТКО) stoppage of Tollison Lewis (2-1, 1 КО) earlier this month in Lewiston. The upcoming fight with Lester will see Berry return to his native 140-pound junior welterweight division for the first time since his injury. All three of his recent wins have come in the heavier welterweight and super welterweight divisions.

As Berry noted, James Lester is a product of the world-famous Kronk Gym of Detroit, Мичиген. Fight fans were treated to a marathon evening of nonstop action featuring 26 bouts in total.

 

In the MMA main event of the evening, in what can only be described as a “thriller,” Брус “Претти Бои” Боиингтон (13-8) defeated Jon Lemke (5-4) via split decision to retain the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title. Boyington and Lemke battled back-and-forth for five brutal rounds in what many in attendance were calling one of the best fights in NEF history.

 

In the boxing headliner, Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “Тхе Цаннон” Бобица (11-1) handed Tollison Lewis the first loss of his professional boxing career (2-1) with a second-round stoppage via technical knockout (ТКО).

A pair of professional boxing bouts will be featured on the main card of the evening. Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Брендон “Тхе Цаннон” Бобица (10-1) will attempt to make it three wins in a row when he steps in the ring to face undefeated Толлисон Луис (2-0) in a six-round, non-title, super-welterweight contest. Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) last November at “НЕФ КСКС.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.

 

“It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. I’m glad to be sharing this main event fight with him, and may the best man win!”

 

Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned.
