Melson to speak to Veterans Leadership Council in February at Johnson & Johnson Town Hall Meeting

New York, NY (Januar 22, 2016) – WBC USNBC 154 pound champion Boyd “Rainmaker” Melson will serve as a special guest speaker for Johnson & Johnson during their Veterans Leadership Council Town Hall Meeting Torsdag, 18 februar in Raritan, New Jersey.

 

A 2003 West Point graduate, Melson was personally invited to speak by retired Army Colonel and current J&J employee Irving Smith, who was Melson’s Minority Admissions Representative and mentor when he applied to West Point as a teenager. På 18th, Melson will present to J&J employees who are part of J&J’s Veterans Leadership Council with respect to the topics of Traumatic Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury. A former standout salesman for J&J’s Ethicon Division, Melson’s success in and out of the ring is still closely monitored by J&J’s CEO and fellow West Point graduate Alex Gorsky.

 

“Johnson and Johnson will always exist within an independent aspect of my heart. I am overwhelmed with pride that the honor of speaking to J&J’s Veterans Leadership Council is now extended to me as I was once myself a Veteran working for J&J” said Melson.

 

Forrige uke, Melson was honored at Johns Hopkins University as a military superstar. He was their guest of honor for their Men’s and Women’s basketball game, and upon personal request from the women’s basketball team’s coach, he delivered a pre-game inspirational talk to the ladies on that team.

 

In regard to J&J, Melson said it “it was a great place to work. They were extremely supportive of my boxing career and the mission of Team Fight to Walk. Many of J&J employees are loyal supporters that purchased tickets to see me fight. I am personally asking J&J CEO Alex Gorsky to attend this lecture on the 18th. It is very important to me that he learns how close we are towards receiving FDA Approval to conduct the clinical trial in the United States that Team Fight To Walk has worked the past 5.5 years to raise money for.”

LOS ANGELES (Januar 21, 2016) – “Fight Week on FOX in L.A.” heated up Thursday afternoon as fighters hosted a final press conference before LørdagensPremier Boxing Champions (PBC) på FOX og FOX Sports showdowns taking place at STAPLES Center in downtown Los Angeles.
The press conference culminated with choice words between the main event fighters’ fathers Ruben Guerrero and Angel Garcia. Both fathers, known to be more outspoken than their sons, did not back down and caused quite the scene and security was forced to break up the scuffle.
Televised fights begin at 4 pm. PT inside of the arena with the FOX and FOX Deportes broadcast beginning at 5 pm. PT. The main event of the evening pits undefeated Danny “Swift” Garcia mot tidligere verdensmester Robert “The Ghost’ Warrior in a welterweight world title battle. The late Herschel Jacobs’ familie & venner

NEW YORK (Januar 21, 2016) – Ring 8’s first monthly meeting of 2016 was held this past Tuesday evening at O’Neil’s Restaurant in Maspeth, New York.
International boxing judge John McKaie (venstre) was the guest speaker. McKaie has judged nearly 800 profesjonelle kamper, Inkludert 23 verdensmesterskap.
Ring 8 historian Henry Hascup (rett) eulogized and made a historical tribute to the late Herschel Jacobs, who passed away this past December at the age of 75 (bildet til høyre). Jacobs (27-20-2, 11 KOs) fought professionally between 1960 og 1978. His most notable win was a 10-round decision in 1971 against three-time world light heavyweight champion and Hall-of-Famer, Harold Johnson, at the famed Sunnyside Garden in Queens. Jacobs also gave Rubin “Orkan” Carter (4-0) his first pro loss in 1962 by way of a six-round decision.

“I’ve got the age on him and I’ve got some height and weight. I have a great pedigree and he has the pro experience. He’s been in a lot more rounds than I have but I’ve been in a lot of tough fights.
“My heart is definitely set on Charles Martin after this fight. After pulling out of the fight and everything that happened there, that’s on my mind after this fight.
“Mansour is a big, aggressive guy so we’re ready for anything he can bring. My athletic background will help me as will my mind because it’s all about making adjustment in the ring.
“You’re not going to see me hanging out on the ropes because I’m going to move around the ring. My skills will be the difference.

The popular Mexican-American Santa Cruz (31-0-1, 17 KOs), fighting out of Los Angeles, won the 126-pound title in a “Fight of the Year” candidate against former three-division champ Abner Mares last August at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. It was just the second fight in the featherweight division for Santa Cruz, who has won belts at 118 og 122 pounds while earning a reputation as one of boxing’s most active and exciting fighters. Sampson Boxing Signs ‘Bad Boy’ Rosas to a Promotional Agreement

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing is proud to announce the signing of formidable super bantamweight contender Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas to a promotional agreement.
Roser (20-2-1, 12 KOs), av Mexico by, is a two-time world title challenger and former WBO Youth Super Flyweight and WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) Super Flyweight Champion.
A tough, toe-to-toe slugger with fast hands and a penchant for body punching, 26-year-old Rosas says he’s happy to be joining the Sampson Boxing stable.

I am planning to take things up another level and get a shot at the world championship. I think Daniel Rosas is a future world champion and this deal will be the final piece of the puzzle to getting him there.”
Sampson Lewkowicz says he looks forward to seeing what Rosas can do with proper representation.
“He is a very talented fighter,” said Lewkowicz of Rosas, “very tough and determined. He has the guts and the fearlessness to become a champion.”
Lewkowicz adds that the addition of Rosas is part of his bigger plan for the future.
“I am building an army of world-class super bantamweights,” he continued. “This is one of the most exciting divisions in boxing and several of my fighters are right in the mix. I look forward to putting together several of the next few years’ best match-ups at the weight.”

Laguna Beach, Jan. 20, 2016 – NextVR, the leader in live-action virtual reality broadcast technology, and FOX Sports will offer the Lørdag, Januar 23 Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) fyrstikker, airing on FOX (8:00 PM ET), live in virtual reality.

Campas of Navojoa, Mexico and now residing in Montana has a record of 105-17-3 with an astronomical 81 knockouts.
To say he has faced everybody in the Welterweight through Middleweight divisions is an understatement.
Campas won the IBF Junior Middleweight title with a 8th round stoppage over previously undefeated and former U.S. Olympian Marquez on December 6, 1997. He made 3 successful defenses of the title before being stopped by Fernando Vargas.
On four more occasions, Campas challenged for a world championship but came up short against Felix Trinidad, Oscar De La Hoya, Jose Luis Lopez and Daniel Santos.
Campas is undefeated since 2012 and will look to close out his storied career against the veteran Bonsante.
