Atlantic City, New Jersey (Februari 13, 2018)–Zwaargewicht Chazz “The Gentleman” Witherspoon will be featured in the main event on Zaterdag, 10 maart bij Het Claridgehotel in

Atlantic City.

The ten-round bout will headline a nine bout card dubbed Ring Redemption 1, promoted by Mis Downing Promotions in association with Silver Spoon Promotions.

Witherspoon van Paulsboro, New Jersey heeft een record van 36-3 met 28 knock-outs.

De 36 year-old Witherspoon is a 14 year-veteran who has wins over Yul Witherspoon (1-0), Michaël Alexander (11-0), Talmidge Giffiths (24-6-3), Jonathan Haggler (18-1), Adam Richards (21-1), Ty Cobb (14-2), Nick Guivas (11-2-2) & Michael Marrone (21-5.

Witherspoon is on a six-fight knockout streak, with the latest being a 4th round stoppage over Jonathan Sandoval on October 1, 2016 in Trenton, New Jersey.

Seeing action in the eight-round co-feature will be welterweight Anthony “Sap” Jong van Atlantic City, NJ.

De 29 year-old Atlantic City native and seven year veteran will be making his 11th start on the boardwalk.

Young has won seven fights in a row, which includes his last outing, when he took a six-round unanimous decision over Carlos Winston Velasquez on August 19, 2017 bij De Claridge. This will be Young’s fifth fight at The Claridge and fourth in a row.

Luna (22-0, 15 KO) and Commey (25-2, 22 KO) enter this fight ranked 11th en 3rd respectively by the IBF. The 26-year-old Luna, fighting out of Bellflower, Ca., most recently dominated Andrey Klimov on his way to a unanimous decision last April and faces his toughest competition to date on March 10. Commey rebounded from the narrow defeat to Easter and a subsequent close loss to Denis Shafikov with a unanimous decision victory last March in his native Ghana.
“Commey’s a tough competitor whose losses were very close, disputable fights that could have gone either way, so I’ll go in being smart, using my jab and sticking to our game plan,” said Luna. “We’re both boxer-punchers who like to mix it up, throw bombs and brawl if we have to. There’s going to be a lot of action and we might steal the show. We’ll give the fans their money’s worth, either way.”
“I think this is a good fight where neither of us are the favorite,” said Commey. “After losing two close decisions there is natural pressure to go for the knockout. But I believe that the judges will be fair and reward me if it goes the distance so I can earn another shot at the title. This is my first fight with Andre Rozier and I’m inspired working in his gym with guys like Daniel Jacobs and Sadam Ali. Ik ben 100 percent focused on clearly beating Luna and earning my rematch with Robert Easter Jr.”
Figueroa (14-0, 9 KO), the younger brother of former lightweight champion Omar Figueroa, zal zijn 2018 debut against the 24-year-old Aguilar (20-7, 17 KO), after picking up four wins in 2017.

NEW YORK (Februari. 12, 2018) – Undefeated 140-pound contender Regis Prograis will now face former unified world champion Julius Indongo for the vacant Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Championship on Vrijdag, Maart 9, in the 12-round main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION live on SHOWTIME at 10 p.m. EN/PT from Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Indongo replaces the previously announced Viktor Postol, who was forced to withdraw from the bout with a hand injury.

Born in Namibia and now fighting out of Omaha, NE, Indongo (22-1, 11 KO) is a former unified champion who held the IBF and WBA 140-pound titles.

In 2016, Indongo traveled to Moscow, Rusland, to dethrone IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Eduard Troyanovsky with a stunning first-round knockout. In his first defense as champion, Indongo traveled to Glasgow, Schotland, for a unification bout with WBA Champion Ricky Burns. The 35-year-old won a 12-round unanimous decision to become unified champion.

In his first bout as a unified titleholder, Indongo made his U.S. debut against fellow undefeated and unified champion Terence Crawford in a showdown to determine the undisputed champion of the 140-pound division. It was the first championship bout with all four major world titles at stake since Jermain Taylor dethroned Bernard Hopkins in 2005. Indongo lost to Crawford, suffering the only defeat of his professional career.

“I’m very excited to fight Regis Prograis on Maart 9,” said Indongo. “This is a great opportunity for me toward becoming a world champion again. I know how good Prograis is, but come March 9, I’ll be victorious.”

The hotly contested first match between Dirrell and Uzcategui, which was also for the IBF interim world title, ended in controversy after Uzcategui was disqualified for landing a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round. Dirrell was dropped and knocked out by the punch. The referee ruled that the punch was intentional and disqualified Uzcategui. In the IBF mandated rematch, Dirrell and Uzcategui will look to put themselves in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax recently earned via a majority decision over James DeGale.
Dirrell (26-2, 16 KO), a bronze medal winner for the 2004 U.S. Olympisch boksteam, continues his quest for a world championship. The 34-year-old southpaw from Flint, Michigan lost a split decision to Carl Froch in his first attempt in 2009 and dropped a narrow unanimous decision to DeGale in his next attempt in 2015.
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of one of the most dynamic tripleheaders this year,” Dirrell said. “This time around I’ll be phenomenal and leave no doubt who the better fighter is. Ik ben 100 percent focused on dominating Uzcategui on March 3 and getting another shot at the title.”
The 27-year-old Uzcategui (26-2, 22 KO), who is from Venezuela and now lives in Tijuana, Mexico, worked his way up to the match against Dirrell with a string of four straight stoppage victories, including a stunning upset of Julian Jackson in 2015. Uzcategui dropped Jackson four times on the way to a second round technical knockout victory.
“I’m very excited to go get what’s mine,” Said Uzcategui. “I feel I won the last fight. I didn’t feel I did anything wrong. What happened in the last fight is in the past. I’m going to get what belongs to me. The world will see what ‘Bolivita’ can do and they’ll want to see more of me.”

GH3 Promotions tekent zwaargewicht prospect Ronald Hines

Nutley, NJ (Februari. 12, 2018)–GH3 Promotions heeft Heavyweight prospect getekend Ronald Hines.
Hines, 22 Cleveland, Ohio wordt beheerd door voormalig NFL Defensive End, Ray Edwards.
de 6'6″ Hines, begon op negenjarige leeftijd met boksen, aangezien hij al bij Karate betrokken was, zijn vader nam hem mee naar de boksschool waar hij zijn uiteindelijke trainer Push Davis ontmoette.
Hines had een amateurcarrière die hem zag vertrekken 67-7, en hij won de Nationale Zilveren Handschoenen en de Nationale Junior Olympische Spelen.
“Ik vind het geweldig om bij GH3 Promotions te tekenen, ze zijn een promotie-outfit die deuren voor mij kan openen,” zei Hines. “Ik ontmoette Vito Mielnicki en GH3 is meer een familiale sfeer, en ik vind dat leuk.”
“Ik heb het geluk dat Ray Edwards in mijn team zit. Hij is er geweest en heeft dat gedaan in het voetbal. Hij heeft alle situaties meegemaakt, en hij kan me helpen bij alles wat op mijn pad komt.”
Hines kwam in de problemen toen hij zich voorbereidde op de VS.. Nationaal toernooi, en hij zal na een korte afwezigheid terugkeren naar de ring.
“Dat was een kleine tegenvaller voor een grote comeback. Ik heb geleerd om kleine dingen niet in de weg te laten zitten. Ik ben extreem gefocust, en ik ben waar ik moet zijn.”
GH3 Promoties, Vito Mielncki is enthousiast over zijn nieuwe zwaargewicht prospect.
“Ronald is een pure puncher die goed kan boksen. Hij is 235 pond, en hij is nog maar een kind 22 jaar oud. Ik ga hem halen met kracht- en conditioneringscoach Freddy Caruso en hem in mei prof maken. Ik ben op zoek naar hem 7-10 vecht over de volgende 12 maanden, en nog zeven gevechten in het 2e jaar. Hij zal leren tijdens het werk.”
In Edwards, Hines heeft een mentor die veel belangstelling voor hem heeft getoond 22 jarige vechter.
“Ik ben verheugd betrokken te zijn bij de carrière van Ronald,” zei Edwards. “Hij heeft gekke voordelen. Wilfredo ‘Bimbito’ Méndez will fight for the WBA Fedelatin title

After winning the Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) vacant Las Americas title last December, Wilfredo ‘Bimbito’ Méndez (9-0, 4 KO's) from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, will seek a top ranking spot in the World Boxing Association (WBA ) when he faces Nicaraguan Leyman Benavides (13-6-1, 2 KO's) for the vacant WBA Minimumweight Fedelatin title.

 

 

 

 

The Méndez-Benavides duel will take place on Zaterdag, Maart 17 at the Fiesta Hall of the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo, Dominicaanse Republiek.

 

 

 

 

“The Fedelatin title is of upmost importance because it places the boxer in the top 15 of the WBA rankings and in a matter of two or three additional fights, the opportunity to go for the world title is very possible. We trust in ‘Bimbito’s’ skills so that on Maart 17, Puerto Rico will have another boxer close to a world title opportunity” said Raúl Pastrana, President of management company ‘Spartan Boxing Club’.

PARK CITY, Mei. (Februari 11, 2018) – U.S. Olympiër en favoriet in de geboorteplaats Nico Hernandez veroverde de vacante International Boxing Association (IBA) Amerika's vlieggewichttitel in zijn vierde professionele gevecht, headliner van gisteravond “KO Night Boksen” Goud & Glorie” kaart, bij Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas.

De 22-jarige Hernandez (4-0, 3 KO) last-minute vervanging gestopt, spel Victor “De Stier” Torres, in de vijfde ronde.
Hernandez’ oorspronkelijke tegenstander, Hongaars kampioen Joseph Ajtai (19-9, 12 KO), heeft Wichita nooit bereikt vanwege een reeks ongelukkige omstandigheden. Ajtai verloor een dag in Frankfurt, Duitsland, nadat hij zijn paspoort had achtergelaten in het vliegtuig dat hij vanuit Boedapest nam. Toen hij eenmaal in Chicago landde op woensdag, hij was vastgebonden door een visumprobleem bij U.S. Douane. Hij miste zijn aansluitende vlucht naar Wichita en door sneeuwstormen die talloze vluchten aan de grond hielden, inclusief die naar Wichita, Ajtai is nooit uit O'Hare Airport gekomen, daar een aantal dagen gestrand.
De IBA verleende een speciale uitzondering voor Hernandez om tegen Torres . te vechten, door deze onvoorziene problemen, met de afspraak dat Hernandez vervolgens tegen Ajtai zou vechten voor een IBA-titel.
“Het was een elektrische nacht,” promotor John Andersen zei. “Nogmaals, Nico maakte de juiste aanpassing die kan worden toegeschreven aan zijn amateur-stamboom. Bij de amateurs, tegenstanders wisselen vaak op het laatste moment en Nico heeft veel obstakels overwonnen tijdens zijn bokscarrière. We geven Josef nog een titelkans tegen Nico in april of mei. Ze hebben samen onafgemaakte zaken!
“Ik was erg blij met het optreden van Nico. Het is de beste die ik hem heb gezien. Hij was ongelooflijk in elk opzicht, op punt tijdens het gevecht. We willen Torres ook de eer geven dat hij het gevecht zo laat heeft geaccepteerd.”
Hernandez kwam vanaf het begin snel naar buiten, Torres mishandelen’ lichaam met geweldige combinaties, en hij liet nooit op. Torres nam de straf op maar bleef rechtop, maar IBA scheidsrechter Steve Smoger stopte de actie in de vijfde ronde voor Torres’ veiligheid.
“Ik verlaat deze riem niet,” Hernandez gaf commentaar op de persconferentie na het gevecht terwijl hij zijn IBA Americas-riem hanteerde. “Het gaat overal met mij mee. Ik keek uit naar dit gevecht en ik ben klaar om mijn succes voort te zetten. Dit is de eerste (titel riem) van vele. Ik heb gekregen waar ik hard voor heb gewerkt. WORCESTER, Massa. In only his sixth pro fight, the key question going into the bout was whether Rivera was ready to effectively step up in class to face a more experienced Cobbs. Right from the opening bell, the answer was a resounding, ja, as Rivera pounded Cobbs with powerful shots to the body and head.

Cobbs was dropped three times in the third round, one was ruled a push, and the end came when referee Jackie Morrell halted the action at the 2:51 as a reeling Cobbs was blasted backwards from the Rivera’s previously mentioned uppercut.

Springfield, MA junior middengewicht Boortoren “Bad Boy” Whitley (3-0) cruised to a dominating four-round unanimous decision over Cleveland’s Roger Blankenship (1-3), pitching a complete shutout in the process.

Bridgeport, CT welterweight Joe Goss (1-0) turned in an impressive pro debut, dropping Montreal’s Samuel Vasquez (1-3, 1 KO) in the second round on his way to a four-round unanimous decision.

Puerto Rican junior lightweight Luis “Lobito” Rivera (4-3, 1 KO) overcame a nasty cut over his eye to win a hard-fought four-round majority decision over Carlos Marrero, III (0-2), van Bridgeport, CT, in a non-stop action fight to the finish.

Unbeaten Springfield, MA licht zwaargewicht Straal “antitankgeweer” Graceski (5-0-1, 3 KO) and International Muay Thai fighter, Harford’s pro boxing debuting Pawel Banasiak (0-1-0), fought to a four-round draw in an entertaining brawl.

Deerfield Beach, Fla. (Februari. 9, 2018) – Boxing promoter Don King has been trying to finalize a fight with WBA super featherweight champion Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado for more than two months with his number two contender, Rafael Mensah.

“I’ve been dealing with Robert Diaz of Golden Boy Promotions and he seems to be a forthright person,” said King. “Since the beginning of December they have been telling me we would have an agreement to fight on January 27th after they arranged a meeting with HBO’s Peter Nelson. It has been one story after another story.”

King continued: “I had the one call with Robert Diaz and he never called me back. We kept calling him. We were supposed to go in together to meet with Peter Nelson and they said we would have a 50-50 deal, and I’ve never heard from him. Mensah has been waiting three years for a title opportunity.

“My fighter was set to fight on Jan. 27, which is what we agreed upon. But I never heard back from anyone. They are playing the con game in trying to avoid this fight with Mensah. They are trying to get under the rules and not fight my future champion. The making of the Machado-Mensah fight has become convoluted and full of intrigue and machination. This whole thing has been mysterious. We are ready to fight!"

Mensah, who hails from Ghana, is 31-0 met 23 KO.
