Tyner and Chambliss Grudge Match Ready to Explode on October 26 in Detroit

in het boksen, there are “grudge” matches manufactured to sell fights, where the hostility is mostly acting. Bijvoorbeeld, there are indications of that in the buildup to Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s upcoming showdown.

And then sometimes, two fighters really, really don’t like each other. Think Terence Crawford taking out Jose Benavidez Jr., recently.

In Detroit, the latter type of grudge match, a real grudge match, has heated to a boil on social media. With insults and threats going back-and-forth daily, outspoken Detroit boxing staple Lanardo “Pain Server” Tyner (34-13-2, 21 KO) and upstart opponent Cortez Chambliss (4-0, 4 KO) have been escalating hostilities since the day their match-up was announced.

The two Detroit-based welterweights will finally settle their differences in the eight-round main event on Friday, Oktober 26, at the MotorCity Casino Hotel.

Tickets priced between $180-$25 and are available through Ticketmaster outlets.

“He’s trying to bunny hop over me, but he’s not ready,” said an animated Tyner. The 43-year-old is known as a fearless and iron-jawed spoiler. A 14-year veteran, Tyner has been the 12-round distance with elite superstar Canelo Alvarez and world champions such as Lamont Peterson and Antonio DeMarco. He’s also taken out a number of prospects who found out too late they were in too deep.

“I can’t believe he even called me out,” continued Tyner. “He’s going to get a beating. This isn’t the amateurs and there are no shortcuts. This is not the door to come through.”

A heavily decorated former amateur, 21-year-old Chambliss has been flawless, zo ver, als een professionele. With power in both hands and above-average speed, Chambliss looks like a new face in the resurgent Motown boxing scene.

“This fight is personal to me,"Hij zei. “Not for the same reasons as my opponent; anger and hostility have nothing to do with it. Voor mij, it’s all about the energy of the risk and challenge. That’s what life is about: ‘growth through challenge,’ so I’m excited for this opportunity.”

Het evenement, entitled “Night of Knockouts XIV” is presented by Carlos Llinas, in cooperation with Dmitriy Salita.

“Carlos Llinas has delivered a consistent, successful series, which has served as a development ground for many notable names in the sport,"Said Dmitriy Salita. “This match between Chambliss and Tyner is a classic crossroads fight, with a young, undefeated contender and a proven veteran. A ‘must win’ for both that I know will deliver for the fans. I am happy to be involved with the upcoming event and working together towards producing top contenders and champions in the championship city of Detroit.”

“This is the number one boxing and MMA series in the country that has been going on for nine years and I’m glad to be working with Salita Promotions on this event,” said Carlos Llinas. “It’s good for fighters and everyone involved when promoters can work with each other and provide a platform for fighters to reach the next level.”

Ook op de kaart, one of the most promising young fighters in Detroit’s resurgent boxing scene, undefeated bantamweight Ja’Rico “Great Lakes King” O’Quinn (9-0-1, 6 KO), will return to action six-round bout against former world-title challenger Christian “Italiano” Esquivel of Mexico (30-15-1, 23 KO).

The MotorCity Casino Hotel is located at 2901 Grand River in Detroit. Op Fight Night, deuren open 6:30 pm and the first bout begins at 7 pm. All guests must be at least 21 years of age with valid photo ID.

Johns (7-0) heads into this title fight looking to punctuate what has been a sterling career to this point. The Kansas native, who now calls Dallas home, will get the chance to win LFA gold and run his record to 8-0. That would position him as the undisputed top bantamweight prospect in the world. The powerhouse known asChapoearned his fearsome nickname for his ruthless demeanor inside the Octagon. The 24-year-old Fortis MMA standout has won his last three fights for LFA and Legacy FC (before the merger), which includes a statement submission win over fellow top undefeated prospect Eric Ellington at LFA 40. Johns will now up the ante looking for a title winning performance in his first headlining bout for the promotion at LFA 55.

Yanez (7-2) is a Houstonian and fellow LFA standout that will be looking to play spoiler in a long sporting rivalry between Dallas and Houston, which is known as the I-45 Rivalry. Yanez, like Johns, gew up in the promotion. After enjoying a fantastic amateur career for Legacy FC (before the merger), Yanez continued his success as a pro. That includes winning his last two fights for LFA in emphatic fashion. They were the types of fights that coaches, fans, and promoters recognize as special moments in a young fighter’s career. The moments where a fighter transforms from a once promising prospect into a legit title contender. The 24-year-old Metro Fight Club standout now looks to take the next obvious step by becoming champion at LFA 55.

The win gave Alpar two regional titles to go along with a marquee win over Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger earlier in her career. Jones-Lybarger went on to fight for the UFC after wining RFA gold. Alpar will now look to pave a similar path. That journey begins with a shot at the inaugural LFA women’s bantamweight title at LFA 55.

Edwards (8-1) is widely considered the top women’s bantamweight prospect in Latin America. “La Panterahas been unbeatable over the last three years, which includes seven consecutive wins. The 23-year-old has seven stoppage victories in her eight career wins, which includes a 57-second TKO win over Bellator vet Jessica Middleton in May and a second round armbar win over RFA vet Brenda Gonzales last month. The two wins also earned her a pair of regional titles. BANTAMWEIGHT BOUT ADDED TO ALREADY-STACKED PORTLAND FIGHT CARD

Portland, Maine (Mei 24, 2018) – Last week New England Fights (NEF) released the official card for its upcoming return to Aura in Portland, Maine. The mixed-martial-arts event, getiteld “NEF 34: Huis van de dapperen,” is scheduled to take place on Saturday night, Juni 16, 2018 met een bel-tijd van 7:00 pm EDT. NEF matchmakers, echter, were still hard at work on adding fights to the card, and earlier today they announced the addition of an amateur bantamweight bout to the event. Henry Clark (3-4) zal worden geconfronteerd met Dave Brown (1-3) bij een gevecht gewicht van 135-pond.

The lead-up toNEF 34has been somewhat of a wild ride for Henry Clark. He was originally scheduled to face Florida’s Krishna Scott (0-1) on the card. Just prior to the announcement of the full fight card, Scott’s camp informed NEF that he was pulling out of the fight. Clark remained in training camp at the Choi Institute in Portland in the hope that NEF matchmakers would find him a replacement opponent. When Dave Brown stepped up to the plate, Clark was quick to accept the opportunity to fight in front of his hometown fans and friends once more.

I’m so grateful that Dave Brown stepped up,” Said Clark. “It takes a lot of guts to take a short notice fight. I would have fought anyone on a week’s notice if it meant fighting in Portland. It’s great motivation for me to finish up my camp knowing who I’m fighting. I’m coming to showcase and steal the show.

Een inwoner van North Andover, Massachusetts, Dave Brown is a three-fight veteran of the NEF cage. Prior to his time competing in MMA, Brown wrestled for Plymouth State University in Plymouth, New Hampshire. He will return to NEF after a three-year absence following his loss to Norman Fox in the spring of 2015. Bruin, “‘Downtown’ Dave Brown” as he is known to his fans and friends, is looking forward to his return to action.

I’ve seen Henry Clark in action and I have a lot of respect for his abilities,” said Brown when reached for comment. “But come June 16, I’m gonna take him downall the way het centrum!”

NEF's volgende mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 34: Huis van de dapperen,” vindt plaats in Aura in Portland, Maine op zaterdag, Juni 16, 2018. Tickets zijn nu online te koop op www.AuraMaine.com.

LAS VEGAS, NV – LFA CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will return to Arizona at the end of June. Two of the promotion’s most feared knockout artists are set for a showdown in the Valley of the Sun when they clash at LFA 44.

The main event of LFA 44 will bring the fireworks five days early this summer. The headliner will see Australia’s aesthetic annihilator MatthewThunder From Down UnderFrincu battle southern California’s grim sleeper Christian “Het Beest” Aguilera in one of the most explosive showdowns of the year. LFA 44 – Frincu vs. Aguilera takes place Friday, June 29that the Comerica Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona. De hoofdkaart zal live en landelijk worden uitgezonden op AXS TV op 10 p.m. EN / 7 p.m. PT.

I am excited to bring LFA back to Arizona on June 29th,” Opgegeven Soares. “Matthew Frincu is a sensational striker. He will face fellow knock out artist Christian Aguilera in the main event of LFA 44. They are two of the most dangerous welterweight prospects in the world and will be looking to make a big statement at the top of one of our most competitive divisions.

Tickets for LFA 44 – Frincu vs. Aguilera are available for purchase NOW at Ticketmaster.com

Frincu (12-3) came to LFA last year as one of the most exciting exports hailing from The Land Down Under. He wasted no time in making a huge splash in his promotional debut at LFA 5. The native of Gold Coast, Australia assaulted Kris Hocum with a diverse and brilliant display of striking. “Thunder From Down Undertaught a masterclass on how to effectively utilize range and Muay Thai technique to dismantle a high-level grappler. He offered a crash course on the same subject ten weeks later, when he knocked out Brazilian prospect Maycon Mendonça in 96-seconds at LFA 11. Meest recent, Frincu stopped previously undefeated Mexican prospect Roman Alcantar via TKO in January at LFA 31. Now the awesome Aussie looks to derail one of the heaviest hitters in the division.

Aguilera (11-4) has earned a reputation for possessing some of the scariest one-punch knockout power in all of MMA. LFA officials caught a glimpse of his gift of putting people to sleep early in his career when he gave Timothy Quiroga a canvas nap in just 52-seconds at RFA 23. A lot has happened in the three years since that prophetic night in Orange County. To start, “Het Beest” got older, he got bigger, and inconceivable to many, he became even more powerful. Not surprising to anyone, echter, is his propensity to wield his gift like a young super-hero discovering his ability for the first time. This has left a path of destruction in 2018 trailing 83 miles in California from Costa Mesa (LFA 30) to Cabazon (LFA 36). Aguilera looks to extend that path to Phoenix, Arizona on June 29th.

Het co-main event van LFA 44 will feature an intrastate superfight when two-time LFA standout Casey Kenney (8-1-1) battles three-time UFC veteran Roman Salazar (12-6). Vorig jaar, Casey won a regional flyweight title before signing with LFA. After making his LFA debut last May, he competed twice in front of UFC President Dana White on the UFC bossTuesday Night Contender Series. Casey returned to LFA in January with a dominant Unanimous Decision victory over Kendrick Latchman at LFA 31. He now looks to make a bigger statement by moving up a weight class to face one of Arizona’s most seasoned bantamweight forces.

That would be the man known asEl Gallito”. Salazar was signed by the UFC in 2014 after winning multiple regional titles in Arizona in multiple weight classes. He competed three times for the industry leader, which includes a bout at UFC 184 against Japanese MMA legend Kid Yamamoto in Yamamoto’s final fight. Meest recent, Salazar has reasserted his dominance in his home state with a pair of TKO victories. Salazar now looks to continue his resurgence with a marquee win over one of MMA’s most highly-touted prospects. Salazar hails from Mammoth, Arizona and will face Kenney of Tucson, Arizona in one the state’s biggest showdowns of the year.

Undefeated Puerto Rican Bantamweight Manny Rodriguez Ready for Former World Champion Paul Butler This Saturday at 02 Arena

Bantamweight contender Emmanuel “Manny” Rodriguez and his team have landed safely and ready to face former world champion Paul “Baby Faced Assassin” Butler for the vacant IBF World Championship, deze zaterdag, Mei 5, at the O2 Arena in London.

Presented by Matchroom Boxing, Rodriguez (17-0, 12 KO), Puerto Rico, and Butler (26-1, 14 KO), 29, van Engeland, will meet in a 12-round supporting bout to the all-British rematch between former World Heavyweight Champions Tony Bellew (29-2-1, 19 KO) and David Haye (28-3, 26 KO).

Rodriguez almost had his very promising boxing career derailed for a time by an unfortunate car accident in which he burned 66% of his body. After a long rehab, he returned, and went on a, zo ver, 17-fight tear through the professional ranks.

The 25-year-old was the mandatory contender to face former champion Ryan Burnett, who chose to relinquish his belts. This allowed for Butler to slide into the fight for the unclaimed belt.

29-year-old Butler previously held the IBF belt, but before defending it, elected to drop down in weight to face then-champion Zolani Tete… and was stopped in the eighth round. He has won nine fights since.

“It has been a long road to this fight, but I am ready to win my first world championship,' zei Rodriguez. “Paul Butler is a good fighter, maar niets kan me tegenhouden. I have worked too hard to get here. It doesn’t matter that we’re in his backyard. I’ve done everything right getting ready for this and I look forward to bringing the belt back to my beloved country of Puerto Rico.”

Rodriguez’ co-promoter, Leon Margules van Warriors Boksen, says a star will be born Saturday night.

“Manny has always been a superstar in the making. I am happy he is finally getting the chance to shine in front of a large audience, wereldwijd. I have no doubt he will win impressively and set himself up for several big showdowns in the near future.”

BUTLER MEETS RODRIGUEZ FOR IBF WORLD TITLE ON MAY 5

AWE to Air Live Bellew v. Haye II, op zaterdag, May 5th

The Highly Anticipated Rematch between Tony Bellew and David Haye to air Live and Exclusively on AWE

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – April 12, 2018 -Paul Butler gets the chance to become two-time IBF World Bantamweight champion when he tackles undefeated Emmanuel Rodriguez at The O2 in London on May 5, live on AWE-A Wealth of Entertainment.

Butler’s clash with Rodriguez is part of a huge night of action in Greenwich as Heavyweight rivals Tony Bellew and David Haye clash in a hotly-anticipated rematch.

Butler landed the IBF strap in April 2014 by taking it from Stuart Hall in Newcastle before vacating the strap to move down to Super-Flyweight in March 2015 to challenge IBF champion Zolani Tete.

The ‘Baby Faced Assassinreturned to 118lbs and back into title contention when he comfortably saw off Hall in a rematch in Liverpool in September, and is rated at four in the IBF, one spot behind top-rated Rodriguez.

The unbeaten 25 year old visitor is hotly-rated having raced to 17-0 in the paid ranks with 12 wins inside the distance, a rise all the more impressive following an amateur background that was stunted by a car accident.

Rodriguez’s trip to London is his first outside the Americas since turning pro and his first over the championship distance, and Butler intends to make the trip a miserable one for the Puerto Rican and reclaim his title.

I’m very excited for this,” said Butler. “It’s the reason we came over to Eddie in the first place, I knew he would deliver the big fights for me. We’re just four weeks away. It’s a big test but I’m confident.

It’s an honor to contest the IBF title again. I want to win it back then hopefully defend which I didn’t have the chance to do last time.

It sounded a good idea at the time to vacate but looking back now I should have kept hold of the belt. I should have worked on my strength and conditioning, filled out and defended my title. I’ve definitely got some unfinished business with thisit would be brilliant to go out there and win it again.

It’s a tougher test the last time I won the title, but I’m up for the challenge. I’ve improved myself. He’s touted to be this next big superstar, but how many of them come over here and get turned on their heads?

I never used to look at my opponents, but since I’ve linked up with Joe he’s always sending me little clips. He looks a good kid, he likes to work at midrange but in truth I don’t want to say too much about what he does and doesn’t do well.

I don’t care how big and tough he iswe both have two arms, two legs, he’s from Puerto Rico and I’m from Ellesmere Port so let’s get it on. I can see this being a very good fight, we both like to go body to head, head to body but I’ll come out being the two-time IBF World Bantamweight champion.

LAS VEGAS (Maart 22, 2018) — Unbeaten bantamweight prospect “De moordenaar met een babygezicht” Max Ornelas (10-0-1, 4 KO) goes from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas classroom into an on-campus ring at Cox Pavilion on April 20th to take on his Roy Jones Jr, (RJJ) Boxing Promotions stablemate, Dallas challenger Tony Lopez (12-3, 4 KO), in the 10-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) North American Boxing Association (Ook) bantamweight title.
Ornelas vs.. Lopez, presented RJJ Boxing Promotions, wordt live uitgezonden op beIN Sports, vanaf 10 p.m. EN / 7 p.m. PT.
I’ve watched Max come up in the rankings and as his confidence and power have grown,” co-promoter Roy Jones, Jr. zei. “The way he has represented his hometown and my stable is remarkable. Nu, to witness him fight in front of his fellow UNLV student body, I know he will exude humbleness for RJJ, UNLV and Las Vegas.
The Las Vegas-born Ornelas was 38-5 als amateur, highlighted by a bronze-medal winning performance at the National PAL Championships, ranked as high as No 2 in the United States in the 123-pound division.
RJJ Boxing Promotions immediately put Ornelas on the fast track from the start. He was late for the official weigh in of his June 10, 2016 pro debut because of his high school graduation, turned 18 the day after his first fight, and later signed an exclusive promotional contract with RJJ on the following Maandag.
The lone blemish on his otherwise perfect pro record is a two-round technical draw against 6-0 Leopoldo Martinez, which Ornelas avenged three months later in een rematch, stopping Martinez in the fifth round. In his most recent fight last November, Ornelas was in his fist 10-round bout, headlining on beIN Sports from Sloan, Iowa, in which Ornelas won a 10-round unanimous decision over veteran Nick Otieno (31-11).
I love what RJJ Boxing Promotions has done for me,” WBA N0. 14-rated Ornelas spoke about his accelerated pace. “Ik ben alleen 19 but they’ve shown that they trust me. They gave me seven fights in six months, making it much quicker for a world title fight. The rest is up to me.
Ornelas (afgebeeld naar links) is familiar with Mexico-born Lopez, die een 2012 Ft. Worth Golden Gloves champion, having fought on the same card twice in Las Vegas and Arizona. “He’s a southpaw with a cocky style that’s hard to defend,” Ornelas remarked, “but my speed and smarts in the ring will beat him. I think we’ll box a few rounds, like a chess match to open the fight, but I’ll open-up in the middle rounds and take him out in the sixth, seventh or eighth round.
This will be my toughest fight yet. He’s more experienced. This is going to be a good fight with a title on the line. An impressive win is going to open up more doors for me.
Ornelas’ parents insisted that Max would have to attend college if he turned pro. He balances his life as a UNLV sophomore, majoring in criminal justice, with that of a prize fighter. Fighting at home, on the UNLV campus in front of family, friends and fellow students, pumps up the affable Ornelas.
When I’m not training, I’m in school or studying,” Ornelas explained. “I’ve handled things well. I’m disciplined and like to stay busy. I’ll stay in school and keep fighting until I graduate. I’ll probably cut back my workload, hoewel, when I’m training for a world title fight.
I’m really excited about fighting at home. I’ll have a lot of people there supporting me. I like pressure and my adrenalin will be pumping. Because of my weight class, I realize that I will need to travel to other countries to fight for titles, but it’s always exciting for me to fight at home in Las Vegas (this will be his sixth pro fight in Las Vegas).”
Former WBA junior featherweight Rico “Suavacito” Ramos (28-5, 13 KO) squares off against Mexican featherweight Daniel “El ChatoNoreiga (30-11, 15 KO), a former WBA Fedecentro super flyweight titlist, in de acht-ronde, co-featured event on beIN Sports.
Opening the televised portion of this loaded card is the much-anticipated professional debut of Uzbekistan-native Elnur Abduraimov, now fighting out of Las Vegas, who was a bronze medalist at the 2015 World Amateur Championships, as well as a 2015 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships winner. The gifted Uzbek will be in a six-round bout versus an opponent to soon be determined.
In a pair of eight-round fights, Australian junior middleweight and past world title challenger, Tommy “De Titaan” Browne (35-7-2, 13 KO), voldoet aan Carlos Hernandez (15-17, 12 KO), Puerto Rico, while unbeaten World Boxing Council (WBC) Kampioen weltergewicht van de Verenigde Staten Jimmy “Stille storm” Williams (14-0-1, 5 KO) faces TBA. Williams is a former college football player from New Haven, Connecticut.
Fighting on the undercard in six-rounders are Las Vegas welterweights Kevin Johnson (4-0, 4 KO) vs. TBA, and undefeated Roy Jones protégé Schaduwrijke Gamhour (6-0, 5 KO), een Zweedse middengewicht die nu in Jones woont’ geboorteplaats Pensacola, Florida.
In four-round action are Russian middleweight Pete Khamukov (1-0, 1 KO) vs. TBA, Russische licht zwaargewicht Vyacheslav Barsukov (4-0, 3 KO) vs. TBA and pro-debuting Las Vegas junior lightweight Jaime Gomez vs. Ivan Ortiz (1-0-1, 1 KO), Los Angeles.
Alle gevechten en vechters zijn aan verandering.
With Ornelas vs Lopez,” co-promoter Keith Veltre toegevoegd, “fans are going to watch a great battle in every sense of the word. They’re two aggressive fighters who will surely entertain fans on April 20th.
This card is filled with heavy hitters, power punchers and body shot artists. People are going to walk away feeling the pain of each loss and ready to celebrate all of the victories.
