MASHANTUCKET, CT (Ġunju 4, 2017)The amazing comeback of Matt “Sharp ShooterRemillard continued last night as the popular Connecticut lightweight stopped Fatiou Fassinou fil- Broadway Boxing headliner held in Fox Theater, at Foxwoods Resort Casino, in Mashantucket, CT.
Il Broadway Boxing series is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and presented by Nissan of Queens, Azad Watches, OPTYX, and Christos Steak House.
Remillard, 30, was the No. 2-ranked featherweight in the world in 2011, when he lost to future world champion Mikey Garcia (LRTD11). Fighting out of Manchester, CT, tonight’s fight was Remillard’s first in his home state in six-and-a-half years, due to him serving a five-year prison sentence. He returned to the ring this past April, taking an eight-round decision from Agustine Mauras, Worcester, MA.
Fir-rawnd ftuħ, Remillard (25-1, 14 Kos) and the slick Benin-native, former WBC International Silver champion Fassinou (27-6-3, 14 Kos) got to know each other as both fighters were cautious. Remillard opened up in the second round, using his left to the body, dropping Fassinou in his corner during the final seconds. Remillard pressed the action in the third, peppering Fassinou around the ring in his familiar punishing style, putting Fassinou in hisSharp Shootersights for target practice in the fourth. Fassinou failed to answer the bell for the fifth round.
Against a southpaw, the left hook to the liver is there, a punch I’m known for,” Remillard commented after the fight. “He was a little sloppier than I expected. I felt tajba; Jien 24/7 in the gym. Maybe I’ll have one more fight this year to get in some rounds, and then get ready for a big 2018. I want a rematch with Garcia, fi 135 jew 140 liri, 100-mija. He owes me a rematch. The guy he beat wasn’t me.
Ruslan Shamalov (L) & George Arias turned in the Fight of the Night
Fil-ko-karatteristika, two New York City-based heavyweights, 6’5″ Russu Ruslan Shamalov (4-1, 3 Kos) and Dominican GentlemanGeorge Arias (7-0, 3 Kos), fighting out of Brooklyn and the Bronx, rispettivament, put their undefeated records on the line. Shamalov’s power punches rocked the much shorter 5’11Arias in the first round, but Arias stayed off the ropes and boxed much better in the second. The two fighters exchanged bombs throughout a terrific third round and, somehow, the fourth was even better with back-and-forth, non-stop action. The pace subsided slightly in the fifth round, setting the stage for a bombs-away sixth and final frame that didn’t disappoint.
Shamalov and Arias fought a furious pace, especially for heavyweights, in a legitimate six-round “Ġlieda tas-Sena” kandidat. Arias, the leader of Team Wash EmUp in the Bronx, won a six-round unanimous decision by scores of 60-54, 59-55, u 58-56.
This win was humungous for me,” said an overjoyed Arias, after his first six-round fight. “I had a game plan, but once he hurt me in the first round, my heart took over and I just fought. I like to fight for the people, so I held on in the first instead of taking a knee.
Mykquan Williams (R) celebrated his high school graduation a little early
Crowd favorite “Marvellous” Mykquan Williams (7-0, 4 Kos) gave himself an early high school graduation present as the East Hartford fighter defeated Nicaraguan welterweight ArielLa Guerra” Vasquez (13-18-2, 9 Kos) in the former’s first six-round bout. The 19-year-old Williams, a five-time national amateur champion, is a budding star with tremendous upside. Poised beyond his years, Williams controlled the pace against his battle-tested southpaw opponent, min hu 11 years Williamssenior, displaying his vast arsenal of punches, especially his left-right combination that landed consistently. Williams’ fast hands exploded for the first time at the end of the second round, then he picked up his assault in the third, as he cruised to a six-round shutout decision, with three tallies of 60-54.
Williams graduates on Ġunju 20 from Prince Tech. “That was a good graduation present,” Williams qal. “My hand speed played a big factor. He was a tough guy, especially for my first six-rounder.
Jennifer Salinas (R) had too much for Marquita Lee
featherweight champion JenniferThe Bolivian QueenSalinas (20-4, 5 Kos) defeated Marquita Lee (3-5) by way of a hard-fought six-round unanimous decision. Salinas, ġlieda kontra minn Providence, was the aggressor throughout, but Lee never took a backward step. Skorecards 59-55 darbtejn, u 58-56, all for Salinas.
Fighting a much more experienced and taller opponent from Africa, promising Lynn, MA prospect Khiry “TNT” Todd (5-0, 5 Kos) won his fifth pro fight, kollha mill eliminatorja. A 2016 New England Golden Ingwanti ċampjin, Todd gained invaluable experience against cagey super welterweight Nicolas Sarouna (12-9-1, 9 Kos), of Togo, who took a knee after getting hit by a sneaky uppercut in the third round. Sarouna failed to beat the 10-count as Todd improved his perfect record, with a TKO stoppage at the 1:32 marka.
Radzhab Butaev left Abraham Alvarez on the mat in serious pain
Unbeaten Russian middleweight prospect RadzhabThe PythonButaev (6-0, 4 Kos) was too much for Mexican Abraham “The Swift” Alvarez (20-11-1, 11 Kos). Butaev dropped Alvarez early with a vicious left hook, from which Alvarez never fully recovered. A brutal right to the liver put the Mexican on mat once again, in obvious pain, as referee Joey Lupino immediately waved off the fight at 1:05 ta round wieħed.
Cuban cruiserweight Luis “El Leon” Garcia (15-0, 12 Kos) kept his perfect pro record intact with a first-round knockout of his outclassed Mexican opponent Felipe Romero (19-14-1, 13 Kos), fighting out of San Diego. Now living in Peekskill, NY, Garcia dropped Romero with an overhand right in the opening seconds and he never let up, consistently hurting Romero with a series of devastating rights. Garcia closed the show with a powerhouse uppercut, leading referee Johnny Callas to halt the action at the 1:48 marka.
Three-time Puerto Rican National Boxing team member Jose Roman (4-0, 3 Kos) went the distance for the first time against a game William Hill (2-3), ta 'Detroit. The skilled Puerto Rican super welterweight applied pressure from the opening bell, using a fierce body attack on Hill, who was trapped on the ropes for most of the fight. The judges tallied 40-36 darbtejn, u 39-37, all for Roman via unanimous decision.
##
DiBella Entertainment’s unbeaten featherweight contender Luis Rosa also fought nhar is-Sibt, headlining a card at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in his hometown of New Haven, CT, facing Carlos Osorio, ta Managua, Nikaragwa. Rosa pressured his adversary throughout the contest, wearing him down with a steady attack to the body. Osorio was game and had a stiff jab, though the hometown favorite’s combinations on the inside helped to diminish the Nicaraguan’s punch output. Believing that Osorio had taken a great deal of punishment, the referee halted the contest at the 1:25 marka ta 'round sitt, awarding Rosa the TKO victory. Bl-rebħa, Rosa improved to 23-0 (11 Kos), while Osorio’s record dropped to 13-7 (5 Kos).

RAHMAN JR. READY TO BEGIN HIS OWN HEAVYWEIGHT LEGACY AT SKYLANDS ECC ON THURSDAY, MARZU 23

Having grown up the son of a former undisputed and two-time World Heavyweight Champion, Hasim Rahman Jr., doesn’t mind that the world will be watching from the beginning of his professional boxing career.
This isn’t new,” explained Rahman. “I’m so used to being who I am and having eyes on me that it would be awkward to not have them. It hasn’t mattered who I was my whole life, or what I did. The world was watching because of who my father is.
Rahman Jr., li missierha, Hasim “Il Rock” Rahman famously knocked out Lennox Lewis in April 2001 to win the WBC and IBF Heavyweight Championships, will make his professional debut against Kansas City’s Brian Imes (1-4, 1 KO) fuq Il-Ħamis, Marzu 23, 2017, at Greg Cohen PromotionsSUPER BRAWL® III, boxing event at the Skylands Event & Conference Center (ECC) in Randolph, New Jersey.
Presented in association with Rising Promotions and GH3 Promotions (sponsored by David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions), SUPER BRAWL® III will also feature the Bronx, New York’s Halili brothers: power-punching super-welterweight action hero Skender Halili (13-1, 13 Kos) taking on Ecuadorian veteran EduardoEl Cheíto” Fjuri (25-25-3, 15 Kos) in the eight-round main event, and undefeated Enver Halili (8-0, 2 Kos) facing Nicaragua’s Ariel Vasquez (13-16-2, 9 Kos) in the six-round welterweight co-main.
Tickets for SUPER BRAWL® III are priced at Golden Ringside $150, Ringside $100 u Ammissjoni Ġenerali $50 and can be purchased by calling the GCP office: 212.851.6425 jew online fuq gcpboxing.com.
My dad is like an advisor,” he continued. “My dad is the only person I know that truly has my best interests at heart. Anybody else I ever dealt with, it always came down to money at the end of the day. My dad never asks me for anything. I know he knows the game and I know that with him on my team, the sky is the limit.
25-year-old Rahman is getting a later-than-expected start at his highly-anticipated boxing career. Coming off his successful 100-fight run as an amateur, the buzz was all around the 6′ 3″ 250-lb. fighter, but a fatal car accident in 2012 saw him serving a 2- to 5-year sentence with the Department of Corrections.
Recently released and now ready to go on with life, Rahman says the entire experience changed him for the good. “It was an eye-opener for me. Going through that really changed my career and how I felt as a person, and a son, missier, and a husband. It changed me. I am grateful god blessed me to be in this position today.
Rahman says he doesn’t know much about first opponent Imes, but he and trainer Kenny Ellis are hard at work at Upton Boxing Center in Baltimore.
“Inħoss kbir. I’m really anxious, but the nervousness hasn’t kicked in. It will around fight time. My team says it’s a good fight for me. Being off for two and a half years, I’m looking to get in some rounds.
Despite the delayed start, Team Rahman has no plan on rushing things.
I just want to stay busy as I can and learn as much as I can and fight for a world title when I’m ready. I’m not going to rush. There’s no rush. It’s not like I’m going to wait forever. I will fight for the title when I’m ready and I know if it put in the work, I’ll be ready in a about two years. That’s the goal for me. If it takes three or four years, it does. Whatever the case may be. I’ll keep racking up the knockouts until it happens.
For Rahman, the decision to follow in his famous father’s footsteps was a rational one.
I’ve always been taught to plan ahead. When I was in middle school, I was really into football. I played tight end, running back and wide receiver. I had dreams. But it dawned on me how many people have the same dream that I do. For instance, there are a million young African American men wanting to go to the NBA every year. 400,000 of them will play high school basketball. 4000 of those will play college. 35 will be drafted. Out of the that 35, biss 7 will start. That means there are a million people trying to get 7 impjiegi. And the average career in the NBA is four years. That’s a problem. People have to look at their odds. I did. Allura, I said ‘know what? Instead of being in this giant pool of people trying to be the next Ray Lewis. I rarely run across someone who wants to be heavyweight champion of the world,’ so that’s what I decided to do. No father and son duo have ever become heavyweight champions. It’s never been done. For me to be in the position to cement our family name in heavyweight championship history is very motivating and I’m ready to take full advantage of it.
Signing with Greg Cohen Promotions was an easy decision, according to Rahman, who has known the Jersey-based promoter for most of his life.

I really want to thank Greg Cohen for the chance he’s given me,” huwa qal. “I’ve known Greg since I was a kid and he has always believed in me. He has always supported me and kept in contact and followed me. He has a real genuine interest in me. Greg already knows he has the best new heavyweight in the world. I’m really dedicated to making him and my father and the City of Baltimore proud.
SUPER BRAWL® III will be broadcast, tape-delayed, on Sportsnet New York (SNY). Fuq lejl ġlieda, bibien miftuħa fil 6:00 pm u l-azzjoni tibda fi 7:00 pm. The Skylands ECC is located at 792 Rotta 10 West in Randolph, NJ. Phone: 973.328.8600.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Lulju 20, 2016)–Dan il-ġimgħa lejl fil- Claridge fil Belt Atlantiku, welterweight, Thomas ” Cornflake” LAMANNA se tieħu fuq Engleberto Valenzuela in a six-round bout in a card promoted by Rising Promotions.
With a win, l- 24 year-old of Millville, New Jersey is staring a big opportunity in the face against an undefeated opponent that is already penciled in for a September 16th date in Atlantic City.
Għalkemm, LaManna can not and will not get into specifics of that fight until he comes through the fight with Valenzuela as he is not taking the native of Sonora, Mexico lightly.
Valenzuela is a guy from Mexico, who will come to fight. I will try to invest in body work early and see where that goes,” said Lamanna.
LaManna stepped up his training as he started his camp out west and worked with a high class of fighters in an effort to up his skill level.
Everything went well in camp. I started out in Las Vegas and worked with 2012 Olympic Gold medal winner Ryota Murata. Originally I was not going to fight because of the fight in September, But I was feeling good, so we are ready to put on a great performance.
This is the fourth fight card for Rising Promotions at The Claridge. The Promotional company headed by Thomas and his mother Debbie. Putting on a show where LaManna is promoting is a daunting task as he must find time to take care of all aspects in putting a show together, but also train properly for a high-class professional boxing match.
At times it is difficult to train and work on the promotional aspects of the show. But I am intelligent enough to oversee that everyone is doing their job. We have had three shows and I have fought on two of them, and everything has gone well for us and me in the ring as well. If there is a problem, I fix it, but I am a fighter first. The training is most important. That get’s taken care of first, and then I take care of the promotional end of things.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Lulju 19, 2016)–Dan il-ġimgħa lejl fil-Claridge fil-Belt Atlantiku, welterweight, Anthony “Meraq” Young will be in the headlining bout for the first time, and he gets to do it in front of his hometown fans as he takes on Eduardo Flores in six-round bout in a card promoted by Rising Promotions.
Il 28 year-old former college football player will look for his 2nd straight win and in the process look to put on a dominant performance against a man who has more than three-times the amount of fights then the Atlantic City native.
Camp has gone well. I have been sparring with a fighters such as Anthony Burgin, Tevin Farmer, Thomas LaManna and Arturo Padilla,” qal Young.
In Flores, he is facing a guy who has faced a litany of prospects and contenders and is by far the most experienced foe that Young has faced.
I know he is a veteran and has been stopped five times in 47 tissielet. I know he is coming to fight and I hope to execute the game plan and then I can be the 6th guy to stop him.
This will be Young’s 7th fight on the boardwalk and fourth in a row, yet unlike some fighters who do not like fighting at home due to outside demands for tickets, Young embraces the opportunity to perform in front of familiar faces.
It is always a big deal to fight in front of the home crowd. I feed off of them and it urges me on to put on a great performance. Even though this is my first headliner, I always feel like I am the headliner no matter where I fight, but especially here.
Young knows that a few good wins can put him in position to get in line for a great opportunity, but he is not looking past Flores.
I plan on getting the win nhar il-Ġimgħa. I am taking this one fight at a time. I am looking to get back in the ring in September and hopefully fight for a regional title next year. I just want everyone to come out nhar il-Ġimgħa and put on a spectacular performance.
