ORENBURG, Russland (Mai 27, 2017) – A new M-1 Challenge lightweight champion was crowned last night as Damir Ismagulov knocked out former champion Maxim Divnich at the end of the fifth and final championship round in the M-en utfordring 78 main event at Orenburg, Russland.
M-en utfordring 78 was a true international event with fighters representing eight different countries: Russland, Brasil, Hviterussland, USA, UK, Sverige, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan.
Ismagulov (11-2-0, M-1: 7-1-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Kazakhstan, fought Divnich (13-3-0, M-1: 7-3-0) hjemme, i Orenburg, for the vacant M-1 Challenge lightweight title, where Divnich had lost his title belt in 2015.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russland (Januar 27, 2017) – American MMA veteran Paul “The Gentleman” Bradley has stepped up to meet the awesome challenge presented by 2016 M-1 Grand Prix middleweight champion Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko in the March 3rd M-en utfordring 75 hovedarrangement i Moskva.

A three-time Bellator champion, Shlemenko (54-9-0. 1 NC, M-1: 4-0-0) beseiret tidligere M-1 Challenge mester Vyacheslav Vasilevsky last year in the M-1 Grand Prix Middleweight Championship semifinals and championship final, henholdsvis, by three-round majority decision and third-round submission (choke). Shlemenko vs. Vasilevsky I & II were also the M-en utfordring 68 & 64 Fights of the Night.
Former Ring of Combat champion Bradley (23-7-0, M-1: 0-0-0) will be making his M-1 Challenge debut, men, he’s a seasoned MMA veteran having fought in the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator og World Series of Fighting.
The 33-year-old Bradley, fighting out of San Diego (California), was a standout wrestler at the powerhouse University of Iowa. He is known for his physical strength, tremendous endurance, and balanced stand-up and ground skills.
Undefeated M-1 Challenge welterweight champion Alexey Kunchenko (15-0-0, M-1: 7-0-0), av Russland, will defend his title in the co-feature against Maksin Grabovich (5-2-0, M-1: 4-0-0), av Russland, who replaced injured Kazakh challenger Shaukat Rakhmonov (7-0-0, M-1: 4-0-0).

It has also been announced that American lightweight KeonThe Black Assassin” Caldwell will make his M-1 Global debut versus former M-1 Challenge lightweight champion Maxim Divnich.

In a much-anticipated All-Russian middleweight showdown, Shlemenko was supposed to fight reigning M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Ramadan Emeev, who was unfortunately injured during training camp, forcing him out of that match. Vasilevsky replaced Emeev against Shlemenko in the championship final.

He has had several fights in World Series of Fighting.
A Ukrainian fighting out of Moscow, Divnich captured the vacant M-1 Challenge lightweight title in 2014 ved M-en utfordring 54, stoppe Dzhambulat KURBANOV in the third round on punches in the Fight of the Night. I 2015, Divnich lost his first title defense by third-round knockout to Mansour Barnaoui ved M-en utfordring 57. I sin siste kamp, Artiom Damkovsky knocked out Divnich with a kick in the second-round of their fight this past September at M-en utfordring 70.

Memphis (Oktober. 21, 2016) – The most decorated middleweight in Bellator history, Alexander Shlemenko (54-9, 1NC) returned to the cagei kveld in a big way against Kendall Grove (23-16). The first round saw aggressive back and forth action with each fighter getting rocked. Shlemenko successfully utilized powerful spinning backfists and heelkicks to close the distance on the 6’6 Hawaiian. “The Storm” stalked Grove throughout the cage before ultimately connecting with a nasty combo that saw a left hand to the liver, followed by a right hand to the chin, sending his towering opponent to the mat. Shlemenko followed up with a barrage of strikes to “Da Spyda” before “Big John” McCarthy waved the fight off at 1:43 av den andre ramme.

 

 

Lashley sinks in a rear-naked choke to end Appelt’s night in round two

 

Bobby Lashley (15-2) continued to live up to his nickname of “The Dominator” as he tossed his opponent, Josh Appelt (12-6) to the mat at will. Yamauchi finishes Couture with armbar submission just one minute into bout

The 23-year-old submission specialist Yamauchi opp (20-3) beseiret Ryan Couture (10-5) via arm bar submission just 1:01 i åpningsrunden. Making his lightweight debut, Yamauchi becomes the first opponent to submit Couture over his 15-fight career. The win gives the Brazilian-Japanese prospect 20 total over his career, including five since joining the Scott Coker-led promotion back in 2013. The slick arm bar marks the 16th submission victory for Yamauchi, 13 of which have come in the first frame.

 

 

Kato scores TKO victory over Matthews

 

The first televised fight of the evening featured two highly gifted strikers in A.J. Matthews (8-6), a muay-Thai practitioner and Hisaki Kato(7-2), who holds a black belt in Kyokushin Karate. Both fighters exchanged great combinations throughout the entirety of the first round, with Matthews even wobbling Kato halfway through the frame. but was unable to capitalize, allowing Kato to regain his composure. A break in the action because of an accidental eye poke to Matthews allowed Kato to completely recover, and when the fight continued, Kato utilized his right kick to the body-left hand to the dome combination to send Matthews to the canvas, pouncing with a flurry of punches forcing the referee to call a stop to the action at 4:58 av den første ramme.
