NEF RETURNS TO LEWISTON ON SUPER BOWL WEEKEND WITH AN MMA SUPER CARD

Lewiston, Maine (Janvier 19, 2018) – The night before the National Football League (NFL) delivers its 2017-2018 season finale, Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) will return to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston for the first time in eight months as the fight promotion presents “NEF 32: Super Samedi.” And while New England football fans will have to wait until this Sunday’s AFC championship game to find out whether their beloved Patriots will play in the Super Bowl, area mixed-martial-arts fans learned today which of their favorites will compete at “NEF 32” as promotion executives released the full fight card for the February 3rd événement.

Dans l'événement principal de la soirée, Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (14-11) prend Taylor Trahan (7-8) at a catchweight of 150-pounds. One of the biggest MMA stars ever to come out of Maine, Boyington will make his return to the NEF cage after a two-year absence that saw him compete on the global stage in places like Russia and New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden. Trahan makes his third trip to Maine to compete. He is coming off a win over Connor Barry (3-2) l'automne dernier.

Aaron “Implacable” Lacey (4-1) faces off avec Josh Parker (6-9) dans un combat de poids plume. Lacey suffered the first loss of his pro career in November when a fight he was arguably on the way to winning was stopped by a doctor due to a cut on Lacey’s head. Parker will look to continue his recent success in the MMA cage after recent victories over Andre Belcarris (0-2) et Derek Shorey (4-9).

CJ Aiguière (3-0) is out to make history by becoming the first competitor to hold NEF championships simultaneously in multiple weight divisions. Ewer is the reigning NEF Pro Middleweight Champion. À “NEF 32,” he has the opportunity to capture the NEF Pro Welterweight Title when he meets Kemran Lachinov (5-2) for the vacant strap.

Also in professional welterweight action will be Micro “La Moustache” Hansen (5-8) et Jesse “Le Viking” Erickson (9-7) in a fight billed asThe Berserker vs. The Viking.Hansen and Erickson have developed a rivalry as coaches of local gyms Berserkers MMA and Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ), respectivement.

Speaking of which, Nate Boucher (2-1), a product of CMBJJ, et Ryan Burgess (2-2) of Berserkers MMA will headline the amateur portion of the fight card. The flyweights, former teammates on the Mountain Valley High School wrestling squad, have engaged in a recent war of words heading into the bout. The winner will be in line for a shot at the amateur flyweight title later this spring.

2017 NEF “Recrue de l'année” jayda “Lil Killah” Mur d'enceinte (1-0) returns to the cage on February 3rd to meet Florida’s Amanda Gallo (0-1). Bailey made history in November atNEF 31by becoming the youngest competitor ever to compete, (and win), dans la cage NEF. She turned 18, the legal age for competing in MMA in Maine, just a week prior to the event.

TWO MAINE MMA FAN-FAVORITES WILL SQUARE OFF AT NEF 32

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, NEF announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the card. Aaron “Implacable” Lacey (4-1) a signé à face Josh Parker (6-9) à un poids de combat de 145 livres-.

After making his professional debut in the spring of 2016, Aaron Lacey rose quickly through the ranks of the NEF featherweight division. With wins over veterans like Derek Shorey (4-9) and Taylor Trahan (8-9), the year belonged to Lacey. 2017, cependant, was filled with frustration. Lacey lost two scheduled opponents to injuries and had to pull out of one fight with an injury of his own. Late in the year, he took a fight in New Hampshire against Vovka Clay (8-2). Many felt Lacey was winning a close fight, but a deep cut on his head forced the doctor to stop the fight in the second round and the bout was awarded to Clay. It was the first loss of Lacey’s professional career. The product of Young’s MMA is looking to rebound from that loss and get back on track towards the major leagues of the sport beginning with “NEF 32.”

“I’m excited to be returning to the NEF cage,” écria Lacey. “Last year was not my year, but it’s over and I’m looking to start 2018 off with a bang! This fight is going to be fun and I love that I get to come home and perform in front of the NEF fans! The best ones around! I’m coming in prepared and looking for the finish!"

Josh Parker has been a mainstay of both the NEF MMA cage and boxing ring since his debut with the promotion back atNEF I” en Février 2012. Since turning his focus back to MMA from boxing in late 2016, Parker has had two solid victories in Lewiston. À “NEF 26” en Novembre 2016, Parker submitted Derek Shorey. L'été dernier, à “NEF 29,Parker was again successful, this time taking a unanimous decision victory over Andre Belcarris (0-2). He will look to make it back-to-back wins for the first time in his career since 2011 when he steps into the cage against Lacey. Parker is the head of Ruthless MMA & Boxing based in Benton, Maine.

“I want to thank NEF for the opportunity, and thank Aaron for taking the fight,” a déclaré Parker. “Je suis excité pour la lutte. I missed out on the last show, so I’m itching to get back in there . Aaron has had an awesome career so far, and I’m looking forward to the challenges he presents, but I think I match-up well against him. Ne manquez pas celui- – it’s gonna be one to remember.

NEF SELLS-OUT AGAIN IN BANGOR AS LOCAL FIGHTERS SHINE IN THE CAGE

Bangor, Maine (Août 6, 2017) –There was no place like home Samedi night for C.J. Aiguière, Ryan Sanders and Fred Lear of Young’s MMA in Bangor.

Fighting in front of a sold-out ballroom a stone’s throw from their training headquarters, the three fighters atop the card at “NEF 30” Rumble in Bangor” all posted impressive victories at Cross Insurance Center.

Ewer defeated Mike “The Mustache” Hansen by submission at 1:46 of the first round to capture the vacant NEF pro middleweight title. Lear landed the NEF amateur bantamweight belt, while Sanders tightened his grip on New England’s pro lightweight scene in a non-title triumph.

It was the second consecutive August sellout in the Queen City, a tradition that began with “NEF Presents Dana White: Regarder dans’ For a Fight” last summer.

After his hard-fought win over the much-traveled Jay Ellis, NEF pro lightweight champion Sanders, Non classé. 1 dans la région, kept his comments short and sweet while calling out the aforementioned Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) président.

“You took the wrong guy last year,”A dit Sanders. “Come get me now.”

Ponceuses (15-8) didn’t have an easy road against Ellis, a veteran of more than 80 combats professionnels. Ellis had Sanders under control for most of the fight but left himself vulnerable to a triangle choke at 2:34 de la première ronde.

Ewer dispatched Hansen with a similarly swift maneuver.

“It’s a great feeling to win it in front of the home crowd,” Ewer said. “As hard as we worked (in training camp), I didn’t think anything could stop me.”

The sudden ending spoiled Hansen’s hopes of winning a title for the first time in his 13-year mixed martial arts career.

“This was by far the best training camp I ever had. We were just getting warmed up,” Hansen said. “I had a lot more to give, and I’m sure C.J. had a lot of more to give. But hey, we could do it again.”

Lear highlighted the amateur portion of the card with an authoritative second-round knockout of Walt Shea.

Only the bell saved Shea from Lear’s onslaught at the end of the opening chapter. Lear gained the advantage with a kick to the head midway through that round. After nearly locking in an arm bar that could have ended the fight, Lear bloodied the previously unbeaten Shea with a series of strikes.

The end appeared inevitable when Shea needed Lear’s help to find his corner between rounds, and another interrupted attack hastened the finish only 14 secondes plus tard.

An emotional Lear lauded his coach, Chris Young of Young’s MMA, before fastening the belt around the teacher’s waist.

“A lot of people around here know his name, but they don’t know the man,” Lear said. “He’s the first guy in the gym in the morning and the last one to leave at night. He’s the reason we’re all here. He’s the reason we’re successful. He’s the reason some of us aren’t in jail.”

In the first two fights of Josh Jonesamateur MMA career, Jones dispatched his opponents by one-punch knockout in a total of 24 secondes. It took Carlton Charles one fewer tick of the clock to take out Jones in the stunning conclusion to a touted tangle of former star collegiate athletes.

Charles, a product of the University of Maine football program taking his initial walk to the NEF cage, turned the tables on Jones (2-1) in a middleweight scrap. Jones again went for the early stoppage with a pair of looping shots, but Charles calmly ducked them before landing one of his own and taking the issue to the mat.

“I just love the competition,” Charles said. “You don’t get hit in the face like this on the football field.”

When the combatants regained their feet, Charles backed Jones against the cage and landed two right hands to the jaw. Jones dropped to one knee and absorbed a sharp left to the head. That persuaded the referee to step in and stop the fight, a verdict that left Jones and his First Class MMA camp visibly puzzled.

It was Charlessecond one-sided combat sports victory in a week’s time. He previously delivered a first-round TKO in the amateur boxing ring. Jones suffered his first defeat since making the transition from basketball, which he played professionally in Europe after starring at Bangor’s Husson University.

One look at Vendredi de official weigh-in suggested that the bout between Roger Ewer (251 livres) and Dustin Freeman (220) might be the typical stand-up, slug-it-out heavyweight affair. Plutôt, it turned into a ground-and-pound showcase that was right in Ewer’s wheelhouse. C.J.’s older brother, making his debut in the NEF hexagon at 44 ans, hammered out the advantage throughout and earned a TKO via unanswered strikes at 2:31 of the second stanza.

Nate Boucher improved to 2-0 with a first-round stoppage of Jeremiah Barkac, who was making his cage debut. Barkac gained an early advantage in the bantamweight bout with a barrage of strikes, but Boucher cleverly gained leverage with his legs and locked in a triangle choke.

Gagner ou perdre, Bangor’s Angela Young announced that her battle with Jessica “The Black Widow” Borga would be the final fight of her career. Borga (6-3) erased any hopes of a Hollywood ending with a decisive TKO at 2:16 de la manche d'ouverture. Jeune (2-3), wife of Chris, had never gone less than the distance in any of her prior wins or losses.

In a mutual NEF and MMA debut, Zach Faulkner delighted his home crowd with a second-round victory over David Hart via rear naked choke. La fin est venue au 1:42.

Jesse Hutchinson also enjoyed a triumphant debut in the amateur ranks. He stopped Anthony LaPointe at 2:43 of the first round in a welterweight skirmish.

NEF also announced that the promotion’s next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 31: The Old Port,” will see the company make its long-awaited debut in Portland, Maine at the brand new, state-of-the-art venue Aura. The event is scheduled to take place on Vendredi, Novembre 3, 2017. Tickets will go on sale this Wednesday, Août 9 à www.auramaine.com.

The co-main event of the evening will see Ewer’s Young’s teammate, undefeated Bangor prospect Aaron Lacey (4-0) take on Bellator veteran Bryan Goldsby (17-16). Goldsby will represent Lacey’s most-seasoned challenge to date. Lacey has been nothing short of “Implacable” – his nickname – depuis le tournant pro. He has submitted three of his four opponents in the first round. Only John Santos (3-5) was able to survive three full rounds with Lacey last summer in Bangor. Lacey won that fight via split decision in a rugged, back-and-forth, “combat de la nuit” performance.

Rounding out the pro card will be another Young’s cornerstone, “Le” Ryan Sanders (14-8), who will meet Milwaukee, Wisconsin veteran Jay Ellis (14-68) à un concours de poids welter. Sanders is the reigning NEF MMA Pro Lightweight Champion, having defeated Jon Lemke (6-8) in a tournament final last April to claim the title. The bout with Ellis will be a non-title affair. Fred Lear (5-2) of Bangor will do battle with Jefferson, Du Maine Walt Shea (2-0) for the vacant 135-pound championship. BELLATOR VET REPRESENTS BIG TEST FOR LACEY AT RUMBLE IN BANGOR

Goldsby will be the most experienced fighter Bangor-area prospect Aaron Lacey has ever faced in the cage. He has four Bellator bouts under his belt and has faced national stars such as Will Campuzano (14-6) and Jeff Curran (36-17-1). Goldsby made his NEF debut earlier this month, not in the MMA cage but in the boxing ring. Le August 5th bout will represent his return to the cage after more than a three year absence.

Lacey put on a “combat de la nuit” performance last year in Bangor in a brutal back-and-forth war against John Santos (3-5). It was the only fight of Lacey’s pro career thus far to make it to the judges’ tableaux de bord. He has finished all three of his other opponents via first-round submission. The fight with Goldsby will be Lacey’s first since last November.

Fighting in Bangor last year was a dream come true, but it also showed me I have a lot to work on,” dit Lacey. “I have been nonstop since then and have made giant improvements. Goldsby is a seasoned opponent who has fought at some of the highest levels the sport has to offer. This will be a big test for me and I’m looking forward to showing everyone just how dangerous I can be!”

LACEY TO TAKE ON BELLATOR VETERAN AT NEF 28

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE: Lewiston, Maine (Mars 7, 2017) – Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF) présente son prochain événement d'arts martiaux mixtes “NEF 28: INVINCIBLE” Samedi, Avril 29, 2017 au Colisée Androscoggin Bank à Lewiston, Maine. Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight bout to the card. Aaron “Implacable” Lacey (4-0) a signé à face Walter “All-DaySmith-Cotito (4-5) à un poids de combat de 145 livres-.

Aaron Lacey, undefeated as a professional, has won seven in a row going back to his amateur career. He was prepared to compete at “NEF 27” mois dernier, but Mother Nature had other plans when a snowstorm prevented his opponent from making the trip to Lewiston from Florida. The setback has made Lacey even hungrier to return to action, but the Young’s MMA standout knows that he has his toughest test to date in front of him in the form of Cotito.

This is going to be an amazing fight,” dit Lacey. “Walter is a skilled and dangerous opponent, and he is realistically one of the most dangerous people I have fought to date. That’s alright with me thoughthe tougher the opponent, plus je travaille. After what went down in February, I’m chomping at the bit to get back in there.

The fight for Cotito will represent a rubber match of sorts with Young’s opponents. In the spring of 2013, Cotito took Ray Wood (8-3) deep into the third round before Wood, then Young’s standout featherweight prospect, was able to finish the fight. Cotito would gain a measure of revenge against the Bangor gym when he submitted Bruce Boyington (14-10) à “NEF X” later that year. Between a pair of recent appearances for global fight promotion Bellator, Cotito scored a second-round submission of Elias Leland (3-2) à “NEF 25” Septembre dernier.

I’m super excited to fight this kid that they’re all talking about,” exclaimed Cotito. “He has a lot of potential, they keep sayinggood, this just makes it more exciting for me! Nobody has seen the real Walter Cotito in the cage yet. Don’t miss this fight because ‘All-Dayis coming for you!”

2016 FIGHTER OF THE YEAR LOOKS TO CARRY MOMENTUM INTO NEW YEAR

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the fight promotion announced the addition of a professional featherweight fight to the card. Aaron “Implacable” Lacey (4-0) va prendre Chris “Game Bred” Jacobs (1-0) à un poids de combat de 145 livres-.

Voted “Fighter de l'année” earlier this week by NEF fans, it would take a Herculean effort to argue that 2016 was not Aaron Lacey’s year. He made his professional debut in April at “NEF 22” defeating veteran Derek Shorey (4-8) and remained undefeated the rest of the year. Including his amateur career, Lacey is riding a seven-fight win streak. He has not lost a fight since the spring of 2014 (his only loss) – close to three years ago.

Plus récemment,, Lacey struck down seasoned pro Taylor Trahan (6-7) with a vicious liver kick that made the entire crowd at the Colisee cringe. A win over Jacobs on Février 11 would move Lacey that much closer to signing a contract with a major, national MMA promotiona fate long predicted by many insiders for the product of Bangor’s Young’s MMA gym.

I’m looking forward to 2017,said Lacey when reached for comment. “2016 was a big year for me and I am looking forward to carrying that momentum into the new year on 11 février. Chris Jacobs is a seasoned opponent who is making the trip up from Florida, so he will be prepared. I live in the gym and have been making huge gains, et 2017 will be the year I get to showcase those gains!”

Jacobs is based out of DeLand, Floride. “NEF 27” will see him make his first trip to compete in Maine, but Jacobs is no stranger to the MMA cage. He put together an impressive record of 8-3 en tant qu'amateur, including capturing a regional title on a fight card in nearby Daytona Beach. Jacobs won his pro debut earlier this year in Tampa. He is looking forward to facing tough competition in the form of Lacey.

I must give thanks and praise to the most high for putting me in this position to fight in Maine,” Saïd Jacobs. “Il est une bénédiction. It’s an honor to fight someone of a high caliber and stature like Aaron Lacey. I look forward to coming up there and competing with a top level athlete.
