San José, California. (Mayo 14, 2016) — In the main event of Bellator MMA’s return home to San Jose, Phil Davis y King Mo showcased why their widely regarded as two of the top light heavyweights on the planet. Al final, it was Davis who emerged victorious, taking home a unanimous decision with scores of 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.

The first ten minutes of action were razor thin, with both men using their strengths to gain the upper hand. For Lawal, the American Top Team standout relied heavily upon his power punching, throwing overhand rights with frequency. Davis used his lower limbs, keeping Mo at distance with leg kicks and short jabs. The tides really began to shift in the final frame though, as Davis clipped his opponent with a shot that he parlayed into a single-leg takedown, nearly finishing the bout with a kimura.

After his hand was raised, Davis was joined inside the cage by current Bellator 205-pound kingpin Liam McGeary who will likely face Davis in “Sr. Wonderful’s” next action. The two traded words and passed the eye test when it comes to a future Bellator MMA main event matchup.

Welterweight Bloodbath Ends in TKO Victory for Saad Awad

In the co-main event of “Bellator 154: Davis vs. King Mo,” Usted Awad (19-7) provided one of the most entertaining performances of the night with a first round TKO win over “Cyborg” Santos (21-17). The knockout came just 4:31 into the bout, when Awad unleashed a flurry of hammer fists that left forced referee Jason Herzog to call a stop to the action. “Assassin” fought off a brutal toe hold earlier in the round and countered with relentless blows to the sides of Santos’ head, eventually opening a large cut that spilled blood onto the canvas. With victories in four of his last five bouts and now a victory at 170-pounds to boot, the options for Awad’s future with the promotion remain endless.

San Diego-Labiano Give it All in Swing Bout on SPIKE

With two quick stoppages to start the card, Bellator aired a swing bout between Josh San Diego (7-1) y Jeremías Monaghan (9-5). A native of San Jose, “JSD” took full advantage of his opportunity on the big stage, and capped off the fight with a rapid flurry of attacks to end the final frame, earning himself a unanimous decision (29-28) victory over Labiano in front of a loud, hometown crowd. The win is “JSD’s” second with the promotion, both of which ended via unanimous decision.

In a highly emotional bout, Adam Piccolot (8-0) thoroughly dominated Ray Madera (7-2) over the course of their lightweight bout, sealing the deal after 3:17 with a standing rear-naked choke submission. The win was Adam “Bomb’s” second first-round finish and the quickest of his budding career. SANTA MONICA, CALIF. (Mayo 14, 2016) – The Bellator MMA Lightweight Championship will be up for grabs “Iron” Michael Chandler (14-3) reunirse Patricky "Pitbull" Freire (16-7) en el evento co-estelar de "Bellator: Dinamita 2" inside the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on June 24.

Much like the first iteration of Scott Coker’s “Dinamita” series, both a mixed martial arts cage and kickboxing ring will be featured on the arena floor.

“Pitbull” has quickly strung together an impressive start to his 2016 campaña, with back-to-back wins over Ryan Couture y Kevin Souza. “Pitbull” most recently headlined the mixed martial arts portion of Bellator MMA’s inaugural event overseas, "Bellator 152: Pitbull vs. Souza” in Torino, Italia, defeating Souza via unanimous decision. The elder “Pitbull” brother will be making his 16º appearance under the Bellator MMA banner, a promotion that he has been loyal to since 2011. The Brazilian slugger eyes a third straight victory when he enters the cage with the hometown boy at Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Junio 24.

BELLATOR TO INSTATE THE ‘JORDAN PARSONS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND’

En mayo 4, the world lost an incredibly talented mixed martial artist and an even better human being with the passing of Jordan Parsons. Hoy, Bellator MMA has committed to ensuring that his legacy lives on in the form of a yearly scholarship to “Pretty Boy’s” favorite wrestling camp. With the newly-announced Jordan Parsons Scholarship Fund, Bellator will annually send a young wrestler to “The J Robinson Intensive Wrestling Camp” where Parsons honed his skills.

“Jordan Parsons was an integral part of the Bellator family and his devastating loss is one that we are all continuing to mourn,", Dijo el presidente de Bellator, Scott Coker. “In collaborating with Jordan’s family, we are very proud to announce this scholarship program in his name. We will work as hard as we can at helping that wrestler reach their goals and create a positive change in their life, while honoring Jordan’s memory.”

“I couldn’t be more grateful for all of the support that Scott Coker and Bellator are providing with this scholarship fund,” said Parson’s mother Anna Morsaw. “This camp really helped Jordan develop into a better wrestler, and more importantly a better young man. He came home with J Robinsons ‘Never Quit, Never Give up’ mentality engrained in him. he learned to set goals, reach his goals and then set new goals. Bellator is doing their part to make Jordan a legend, and that’s what he always wanted.”

Washington, Corriente continua (Mayo 14, 2016) - 122 pound contender Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle (22-2, 16 Nocáuts) de Bayamón, Puerto Rico marcó un claro, decisión unánime en ocho asaltos sobre el zurdo local Thomas "KO" Snow (18-3, 12 Nocáuts) el viernes, Mayo 13 en el Armory en Washington DC, D.C.
Luchando en Roc Nation Sports’ Boxeo del trono en APUESTA, Del Valle buscó marcar la pauta presionando a Snow, con base en DC, en la primera ronda.. En el segundo, el ex campeón de peso pluma de la NABA conectó una serie de derechas directas, incluyendo uno que envió a Snow con fuerza. Bristol, Pensilvania (Mayo 13, 2016) – On Saturday night June 4th, a brand new boxing series will be launched as D and D Promotions presents its inaugural “Rumble at the Rink” Boxing series that will take place at The Grundy Arena in Bristol, Papá.
Scheduled to appear in the six-round main event will be super middleweight Derrick Webster.

Cruiserweight Emilio Salas Ready to Represent New York vs. Detroit in ‘Detroit Brawl’ Main Event this Saturday

After getting knocked out a minute and a half into his professional boxing debut, cruiserweight Emilio Salas had to be wondering if a career change was in order.
But Salas shook off the embarrassment, and when he and now-fiancé Krystal Velez moved to Yonkers, Nueva York, and he hooked up with trainer Jose Guzman, fortunes began to change.
Salas (5-1-1, 3 KOs) hasn’t lost a fight since and is now appearing in his first main event, a six-round cruiserweight main event against Detroit’s Demetrius Banks (6-0, 4 KOs) on Saturday May 14, in Banks’ backyard of the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit.
The pair will be headlining promoter Dmitriy Salita’s “Pelea de Detroit” event that also features a six-round co-main event between undefeated bantamweight James Gordon Smith (9-0, 6 KOs) and Mexico’s Pablo Cupul (8-19, 5 KOs).

“I have gotten a lot better with the trainers over here and I’ve had a lot more success,” admitted Salas. “I’m a southpaw with fast hands and I move around well and I punch hard with both hands. But one of my biggest things I have is heart. You have to want to fight and have heart and I do.”
Although he says he doesn’t know much about Banks, Salas says it’s ok because he prefers to figure an opponent out in the ring. “Normally once I get in there, I can tell what a fighter’s weaknesses are. He’s undefeated and I’ll be fighting in his hometown, but the people I have fought have almost all been undefeated and I’ve beaten them, so this is nothing different and I am not scared to fight him in Detroit. Most of my fights are in my opponent’s backyard. Yo realmente no sabía qué esperar. I’m training hard for it and I hope for the best.”
Salas’s nickname in the ring is “El Jibaro,” which is slang for a country hick. “They call me that because I was born and raised in area of Puerto Rico where there is lots of forest and not many houses and people are sort of poor. It means I’m from the jungle. I like to do real Puerto Rican things like working with animals and riding horses. I love Puerto Rico and I dedicate all my; fights to my family and to the people of Puerto Rico. My goal is to win a world title so that I can take it back to my hometown in PR and show that my first fight wasn’t the last one. I want to show them that whatever you want to do in life you can make it happen if you work hard enough.”
Salas caught promoter Dmitriy Salita’s eye early last year, fighting to a draw against one of Salita’s fighters, Ytalo Perea, a former Olympian.
“Emilio is very naturally talented,” Said Palabra. “He only had about 20 amateur fights and seven as a pro and he’s already a very good fighter. If he continues to develop and improve, he will soon become a force in the division.”

Santa Monica, California. (Mayo 13, 2016) - Bellator MMA is pleased to announce an extension with one of its major sponsors, Energía monstruosa. The new deal with the world’s leading energy drink company ensures that fans will see the iconic green “M” Monster logo in the Bellator cage for years to come.

 

 

Monster will continue to own highly visible inventory inside the Bellator cage and sponsor concourse activations during events as well as additional off-site promotional activations. To complement the live event experience, Monster and Bellator will look to engage in a multi-faceted activation plan intended to build customer loyalty and drive tune-in of the Bellator broadcasts on Spike. The sponsorship extension will also see Bellator MMA continue to put on fights during the “Monster Energy Cup” – an event that showcases the world’s top supercross riders in a head to-head battle for the coveted “Monster Energy Cup” award and the chance to win one million dollars.
