BELLATOR MMA EXTENDS CONTRACT OF STANDOUT BANTAMWEIGHT SUPERSTAR DARRION ‘THE WOLF’ CALDWELL

Growing up in New Jersey, Caldwell was a talented, multi-sport athlete who shined the brightest on the wrestling mats. After becoming a three-time high school state champion in New Jersey, “The Wolf” naturally joined “The Wolfpack,” earning a spot on the North Carolina State University wrestling squad. With the Wolfpack, he continued dominate his opponents, winning the NCAA national wrestling championship in 2009.

Caldwell is nothing if not confident in himself, continuing with host Ariel Helwani: “I’ve always been a star, but it’s just been about getting on that platform and Bellator is giving me that opportunity… I don’t think any 135-pounder can see me, ya feel me? Hughie Fury rated #6 by WBO; Eager to conquer challenges in and out of the ring

Fury captured the WBO’s Intercontinental belt April 30 דורך 7טהround technical decision over awkward Fred Kassi. At 21years old, Fury has a perfect 20-0 professional ledger and stopped ten of his opponents. During the last fifteen months, Fury’s passed multiple tough tests having outpointed noteworthy fighters in Andriy Rudenko, George Arias, Dominick Guinn and Kassi.
דעםn July 9, Fury looks to shine on his biggest stage yet when he faces an opponent to be named in a ten or twelve round fight. The fight will appear on the undercard of the world heavyweight championship showdown between champion Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko at the Manchester Arena.
Hungry but humble, Fury is very pleased with his world ranking and plans to win the WBO world championship.
“I’m overwhelmed that the WBO has me listed in the top six in the world,” said Fury. “I’m a loyal person and will repay the WBO by winning their world title just like my cousin Tyson.”
Even with his notable success and high praise throughout the boxing world, Fury’s been battling a grueling opponent out of the ring that has prevented him from being 100 פּראָצענט.
According to Dr. Ian R. White, Fury’s suffering from acne conglobata which could result in malaise, fluctuating fevers and joint pain. The condition has to be treated aggressively with medications in order to keep his career progressing.
Thankfully, he’s responding well and things are looking up.
“I’ve been dealing with fatigue and a skin problem that caused my body to breakdown. I know people in the boxing world have taken note of this and I appreciate their concern. “Edwin was inducted into the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2016,” רינג 8 פּרעזידענט באָב דאַפי האט. “He was unable to attend the induction ceremony, so we will present him with his Hall of Fame belt at our meeting. Edwin embodies what the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (ניסבהאָף) is all about in terms of his overall achievements and accomplishments as a New York State fighter. We’re very happy that Edwin will have this opportunity to be honored and we’re all interested in hearing him speak about his boxing career.”
Viruet (32-6-2) was a standout amateur boxer, albeit brief, registering a perfect 18-0 רעקאָרד, highlighted by his winning two New York Golden Gloves Championship in 1968 as a 118-pound sub-novice and the following year in the 126-pound division, Edwin and his brother,Adolpho Viruet, were declared co-champions.
אין 1969, Viruet turned pro and two years later, he fought a draw with future world championשאול מאַמבי and he won a decision over another future world champion, Alfredo Escalara. Three years later, Viruet scored a decision victory against fellow 2016 NYSBHOF inductee ווילאָמאַר Fernandez בייַ מאַדיסאָן קוואדראט גאַרדאַן.
Viruet went the distance twice with world lightweight champion ראָבערטאָ דעראַן, losing a decision both times, the first in a non-title fight in 1975 and the second as a world title challenger in Philadelphia two years later.

FORMER STATE CHAMPION RETURNS TO BATTLE THE KEN DOLL
לעוויסטאָן, מיין (מייַ 16, 2016) - ניו ענגלאַנד פייץ (נעף) returns to Lewiston, Maine on June 18, 2016 with the fight promotion’s next mixed-martial-arts (ממאַ) and professional boxing extravaganza, “נעף 24: PROMISED LAND.” NEF executives have announced the signing of a professional featherweight MMA bout to the card featuring מאַט “קען ליאַלקע” דענינג (3-2) און Brandon Bushaw (1-2).
Denning is coming off a huge submission victory over Derek Shorey (3-7) this past weekend at “NEF 23” in Hyannis, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ. The first time the pair met in 2014, it took Denning a mere 2:28 to submit Shorey. Denning topped that performance in the rematch by finishing Shorey in just 37-seconds. The win was a rebound for Denning after back-to-back losses in the NEF MMA cage. Just last month in Lewiston, he was stopped in the first round by Josh Harvey (1-0). איצט, he will look to make it two wins in a row when he takes on Bushaw on June18.

He has made the trip back home to the Pine Tree State to compete for NEF on four separate occasions. Bushaw’s last appearance on an NEF card was in the fall of 2014 against Elias Leland (2-1). It was Bushaw’s only loss to date in his home state of Maine. The upcoming fight with Denning will see Bushaw move up in weight from the 135-pound bantamweight division to the 145-pound featherweight division.
“I am beyond excited to return to my home state of Maine and fight under the NEF banner for the fifth time,” exclaimed Bushaw. “I am making the move up to 145, where I intend to stay for the rest of my career. JUNIKO SWEEPS; BATTLES VICTORIOUS IN PRO DEBUT; WOMEN’S FIGHT STEALS THE SHOW

The HYCC was at capacity for the first sanctioned mixed-martial-arts (ממאַ) show ever held on Cape Cod. The venue opened the upstairs walking track to give standing-room-only fans more elbow room. The crowd was electric all night for the eight-fight card presented by NEF.
Team Juniko, based out of Hyannis and Hanover, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ, was a perfect 5-0 on the night. Fabian Miranda (3-0), Thomas Lee Davis, דזשוניער. (2-0), Ed Forlenza (1-0), און Kylie O’Hearn (1-0) all picked up wins for the team on the amateur portion of the card.
It was O’Hearn’s bout with אַנגעלאַ יונגע (1-2) of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine that will be remembered for years to come by all in attendance. The two women battled back and forth for three grueling rounds before O’Hearn was declared the winner by unanimous decision on the judges’ סקאָרעקאַרדס. The fight will be a serious contender for “פייט פון די יאר” in the northeast by the time 2016 comes to an end.
Team Juniko member Brendan Battles (1-0) was victorious in the main event of the evening via technical knockout over מייק האַנסען (4-4). The bout was the pro debut for the native of Eastham, Massachusetts and standout wrestler from Nauset Regional High School. Battles rebounded from an early flurry by Hansen to get the referee stoppage aה 1:46 פון דער ערשטער קייַלעכיק.

DEONTAY WILDER STATEMENT ON HIS TITLE DEFENSE FIGHT AGAINST ALEXANDER POVETKIN
קען 15, 2016 – In the wake of the news on Friday that Alexander Povetkin tested positive for the banned substance meldonium, WBC Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder and his representatives have been made aware of the WBC’s decision on Sunday that the fight will not occur in Moscow on May 21.
“I’m very disappointed that due to Povetkin’s failed drug test the fight is not going to happen on May 21 אין מאָסקווע,” said Deontay Wilder. “I had worked very hard to prepare myself for this important title defense, spending the last two weeks training in England to get accustomed to fighting in Europe. I wanted to give the fans a great show, but we understand the WBC’s position that the fight occur on an even playing field.”
Povetkin, the WBC No. 1 heavyweight championship contender, tested positive for the substance in a urine test conducted by the Las Vegas-based Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) אויף אפריל 27.
“Based upon Povetkin’s positive test for meldonium, and with the health and safety of Deontay Wilder the paramount consideration, this fight could not take place next Saturday,” said DiBella. “As a result of Povetkin’s use of a banned substance and breach of contract, Deontay Wilder was deprived of an opportunity to defend his title as he was prepared to – on an even playing field. He and his team have suffered substantial damages as a result. Any talk of rescheduling by Mr. Ryabinskiy at this point is unfounded and premature. Team Wilder will await further communications from the WBC and will weigh all our options given what has transpired.”
The 30-year-old Wilder (36-0, 35 קאָס) and his team were supposed to fly to Moscow on Sunday for a week of preparation and promotion leading up to the fight. איצט, Wilder will return home to Tuscaloosa, Alabama and await further information from the WBC.
“This is a huge disappointment and a setback to my goals in boxing. I want to be an active heavyweight champion and it is still my goal to collect all the belts and become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world,” Wilder said.
