SAMMY VASQUEZ JR.
On his opponent change from Luis Collazo to Felix Diaz …
“It’s unfortunate that Collazo got hurt, but Diaz is a very good fighter and I know he’s going to bring it. I’ve been sparring with nothing but lefties, and since both Diaz and Collazo are southpaws, it’s business as usual. Diaz is coming off a close majority decision loss…his first defeat, so I know he’s hungry to get back in that win column. This is a dangerous fight and I’m not taking it lightly. Como siempre, I’m willing and ready to fight anyone they put in front of me.”
On his recent training camp at the Triple Threat Boxing Gym in Colorado Springs…
“It’s been a grueling camp with a lot of hard work being put out. Sparring has been fantastic and I’m feeling really sharp right now. My weight is good and I’m feeling strong. We have a few more days left and then it’s on to fight week.”
On fighting on FOX with a global audience expected to be tuning in…
“This is what it’s all about, fighting on the big stage with millions of fans looking to see a great fight. FOX is an incredible network to be showcased on and I want to let the world know I’m here to take over the welterweight division. The fans can expect to see a lot of power punches. “I have an unbelievable team behind me. First off my dad Sammy Sr. is there watching my every move, so I’m very comfortable with him by my side. Charles Leverette is the head coach, with Ryan Rimsek working the mitts. Jason Barber is my strength and conditioning coach. Everyone is doing a great job. We have a great game plan that we feel we can execute against Diaz. I’m very happy with my team.”
On when he thinks he’ll be ready to challenge for a world title…
“I feel I’m ready now. I’m ranked in the top ten in three of the major sanctioning organizations, so I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know a victory against Diaz will get me closer to a title shot. I have to keep winning to fulfil the goal I set for myself when I first started boxing, and that’s to become a world champion.”
On the current landscape of the welterweight division….
“The division is loaded with great fighters. With the exception of Jesse Vargas, all the champions are undefeated. The road to get to the top is very tough because everyone in the top ten is an exceptional fighter. I think it’s the toughest division in boxing.”

On fighting Sammy Vasquez on short notice…
“I stay ready in the gym. I had a fight scheduled with Miguel Vasquez that fell through so now it’s on to another Vasquez. I had to switch to southpaw sparring but that is nothing new to me. I fought a lot of southpaws on short notice in the amateurs. I’m grateful for this opportunity and I’m going to make the best of it.”

When you’re undefeated and loss for the first time, you want nothing more than to get back in the ring and prove to everyone that you belong with the elite fighters in the division. Topps announces plans for the UFC Fan Expo, including the launch of TOPPS NOW UFC; exclusive promo cards

Topps is bringing its popular TOPPS NOW™ program to the UFC beginning with UFC 200. The Topps.com-exclusive product will showcase amazing bouts and top moments. The physical trading cards will be available for a pre-sale for UFC 200 starting today.

The cards will feature the winners of the big fights, including two championship bouts. UFC 200 is the ideal time to launch TOPPS NOW UFC with the caliber of fights on the docket, including Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones, Meisha Tate vs Amanda Nunes and Brock Lesnar vs Mark Hunt.

“UFC is the perfect fit to incorporate into the TOPPS NOW program immediately,” said Jeff Heckman, Director, New Product Development and eCommerce Marketplace. “Every weekend there are great fights happening; we have seen a number of title changes over the last several months. TOPPS NOW is the best way to capture these moments and give UFC fans a collectible they will treasure.”

Ruiz has made four successful defenses of his NABF Championship. SIGNS WORLD-RANKED BANTAMWEIGHT

LAS VEGAS (Julio 5, 2016) -World Series of Fighting (WSOF.com) announced today that it has inked world-ranked bantamweight (135 libra) estrella Jesse Brock (22-8) a un exclusivo, acuerdo de lucha múltiple.

NEIL GROVE STEPS UP ON SHORT NOTICE TO FIGHT JAMES MULHERON

LONDRES — (Julio 5, 2016) – An injury to Linton Vassell (16-5, 1 NC) has derailed “The Swarm’s” summer plans of competing in front of his fellow Englishmen against Francis Carmont (24-11) during the main card of “Bellator 158: Londres," que tendrá lugar enJulio 16 inside one of the world’s most popular venues, The O2 in London, Inglaterra. Rounding out the televised action, Matt Mitrione (10-5) will return after his emphatic win last month to face “Britain’s Strongest Man” Oli Thompson (17-8) in a heavyweight beater, yJames Gallagher (3-0) adquiere Mike Cutting (6-5).

A native of Przemysl, Polonia, Klinger has been competing professionally since 2013 and taken fights almost exclusively in the United Kingdom. The 32-year-old went nearly three years without suffering his first loss as a pro, amassing finishes in all seven of his victories. “Hitman” has laced up the gloves once already in 2016, and now looks to impress in his Bellator MMA debut when he faces Carmont on Julio 16 at The O2 in London.

Perrella to throw out first pitch July 9

Fort Myers, Florida (Julio 5, 2016) – Rising star Bryant “Goodfella” Perrella will throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the Fort Myers Miracle’s 6:05 pm showdown against the Dunedin Blue Jays Sábado, Julio 9 at Hammond Stadium.

Living and fighting out of Fort Myers, Florida, Perrella burst onto the national scene by scoring a second round stoppage of previously unbeaten David Grayton Junio 4 en ESPN. Perrella, 14-0 (13 Nocáuts), followed his victory with a memorable post fight interview where he emphatically stated he’s ready to fight the best in the welterweight division.

Outside of the ring Perrella is literally a good fella, living a clean lifestyle while giving back to the community by participating in different charitable causes.

“I’m excited to be able to come out and support a great local organization,” said Perrella. “I am really looking forward to having the opportunity to meet and greet the fans too.”

A Minnesota Twins affiliate, the Miracle are excited about having Perrella and recognize him as a local rising star.

“It’s nice to honor one of the community’s up and comers,” Miracle GM Andrew Seymour said of Perrella.

After throwing the ceremonial first pitch, Perrella will be available to take photos, sign autographs and chat with those in attendance.

Protect Yourself at All Times: A Guide for Professional Boxers

Dallas, Texas………. Forbes 30 Under 30 (Deportes) entrepreneur, author, and professional athlete representative Adrian Clark has announced the second book of his guide series, titulado, Protect Yourself at All Times: A Guide for Professional Boxers.

In unprecedented fashion, Clark delivers this blueprint for professional boxers with 12 rondas (chapters) of concise recommendations to help boxers empower themselves and protect their careers. Also included are testimonials from more than 40 current and retired fighters about their experiences in the business.

“The book is just the beginning of what will become a movement to protect professional boxers outside the ring,” dijo Clark, who began representing fighters at 23 años. “It is well overdue for someone to lead the charge and educate the fighters on the business side of things.
