Garcia, Alexander and Ortiz are all seeking to return to the welterweight championship ranks and Rios wants to stay in contention for his first welterweight crown. The 21-year-old Benavidez, the youngest current world champion, looks to be spectacular in the rematch with Gavril and continue on his ultimate goal of unifying the titles at 168 pounds, while Plant, Medina and Gavril are seeking to get to where he is now.

Promoter Tuto Zabala Jr. of All Star Boxing, Inc. announced today that Olympians Antonio Vargas (5-0-3 KO s) of Kissimmee, I. and Jeyvier Cintron (2-0-1 KO) av Bayamon, Puerto Rico have been added to the undercard for the 2018 Boxeo Telemundo’s season premiere on February 23rd at the Osceola Heritage Park Events Center in Kissimmee, Florida.

There’s going to be a lot of action and we might steal the show. We’ll give the fans their money’s worth, either way.”
“I think this is a good fight where neither of us are the favorite,” said Commey. “After losing two close decisions there is natural pressure to go for the knockout. But I believe that the judges will be fair and reward me if it goes the distance so I can earn another shot at the title. This is my first fight with Andre Rozier and I’m inspired working in his gym with guys like Daniel Jacobs and Sadam Ali. NEW YORK (Februar. 12, 2018) – Undefeated 140-pound contender Regis Prograis will now face former unified world champion Julius Indongo for the vacant Interim WBC Super Lightweight World Championship on Fredag, Mars 9, in the 12-round main event of SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION live on SHOWTIME at 10 pm. OG/PT from Deadwood Mountain Grand in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Indongo replaces the previously announced Viktor Postol, who was forced to withdraw from the bout with a hand injury.

Born in Namibia and now fighting out of Omaha, NE, Indongo (22-1, 11 KOs) is a former unified champion who held the IBF and WBA 140-pound titles.

I 2016, Indongo traveled to Moscow, Russland, to dethrone IBF Junior Welterweight Champion Eduard Troyanovsky with a stunning first-round knockout. In his first defense as champion, Indongo traveled to Glasgow, Skottland, for a unification bout with WBA Champion Ricky Burns. The 35-year-old won a 12-round unanimous decision to become unified champion.

In his first bout as a unified titleholder, Indongo made his U.S. debut against fellow undefeated and unified champion Terence Crawford in a showdown to determine the undisputed champion of the 140-pound division. It was the first championship bout with all four major world titles at stake since Jermain Taylor dethroned Bernard Hopkins in 2005. Indongo lost to Crawford, suffering the only defeat of his professional career.

“I’m very excited to fight Regis Prograis on Mars 9,” said Indongo. “This is a great opportunity for me toward becoming a world champion again. I know how good Prograis is, but come March 9, I’ll be victorious.”

The hotly contested first match between Dirrell and Uzcategui, which was also for the IBF interim world title, ended in controversy after Uzcategui was disqualified for landing a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round. Dirrell was dropped and knocked out by the punch. The referee ruled that the punch was intentional and disqualified Uzcategui. In the IBF mandated rematch, Dirrell and Uzcategui will look to put themselves in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax recently earned via a majority decision over James DeGale.
Dirrell (26-2, 16 KOs), a bronze medal winner for the 2004 US-. Olympic boxing team, continues his quest for a world championship. The 34-year-old southpaw from Flint, Michigan lost a split decision to Carl Froch in his first attempt in 2009 and dropped a narrow unanimous decision to DeGale in his next attempt in 2015.
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of one of the most dynamic tripleheaders this year,” Dirrell said. “This time around I’ll be phenomenal and leave no doubt who the better fighter is. Jeg er 100 percent focused on dominating Uzcategui on March 3 and getting another shot at the title.”
The 27-year-old Uzcategui (26-2, 22 KOs), who is from Venezuela and now lives in Tijuana, Mexico, worked his way up to the match against Dirrell with a string of four straight stoppage victories, including a stunning upset of Julian Jackson in 2015. Uzcategui dropped Jackson four times on the way to a second round technical knockout victory.
“I’m very excited to go get what’s mine,” Said Uzcategui. “I feel I won the last fight. I didn’t feel I did anything wrong. What happened in the last fight is in the past. I’m going to get what belongs to me. The world will see what ‘Bolivita’ can do and they’ll want to see more of me.”

Nutley, NJ (Februar. 12, 2018)–GH3 Promotions has signed Heavyweight prospect Ronald Hines.
Hines, 22 av Cleveland, Ohio is managed by former NFL Defensive End, Ray Edwards.
The 6’6″ Hines, began boxing at at the age of nine, as he was already involved in Karate, his dad took him to the boxing gym where he met his eventual trainer Push Davis.
Hines had an amateur career that saw him go 67-7, and he won the National Silver Gloves and the National Junior Olympics.
“I feel great signing with GH3 Promotions, they are a promotional outfit that can open doors for me,” said Hines. “I met Vito Mielnicki and GH3 is more of a family atmosphere, and I like that.”
“I am fortunate to have Ray Edwards on my team. He has been there and done that in football. He has been through all situations, and he can help mentor me through whatever comes my way.”
Hines ran into some trouble as he was preparing for the U.S. National Tournament, and he will be returning to the ring after a brief absence.
“That was a minor setback for a major comeback. I have learned not to let petty things get in the way. I am extremely focused, and I am where I need to be.”
GH3 Kampanjer, Vito Mielncki is enthusiastic about his new heavyweight prospect.
“Ronald is a pure puncher who has good boxing ability. Han er 235 pounds, and he is just a kid at 22 år. I am going to get him with strength and conditioning coach Freddy Caruso and turn him pro in May. I am looking to get him 7-10 fights over the next 12 måneder, and seven more fights in the 2nd year. He will be learning on the job.”
In Edwards, Hines has a mentor who has taken great interest in his 22 år gamle fighter.
“I am excited to be involved in Ronald’s career,” said Edwards. “He has crazy upside. He hit some stumbling blocks, but he has a 2nd chance, and I am happy to see him through this journey. He has dedication to take him to the top of the world. I know he will grow from his experience, and I can help guide him and give him the info that will help him be successful. I want to help him keep focused which will not deter him from the path that was set for him.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Lap. (Februar 12, 2018) – “Fightin’ Irish” and Boston boxing has been synonymous for more than a century, since the Irish first started emigrating to the United States in general, Boston in particular, etter Great Potato Famine.
Many Irish and Irish-American boxers have fought in the Greater Boston area, some born and others resettling there. This rich tradition continues next month in a different way when the three-city 2018 USA vs. Ireland Northeast Boxing Tour kicks-off Mandag, Mars 12, at the newly renovated Royale Entertainment Complex in Boston’s famed theater district. The Boston stop, which is being presented by Budweiser, will have general admission tickets for $20.00 and a limited amount of $30.00 reserved tickets go on sale today (Mandag, Februar. 12) ved 12 pm. The USA vs. Ireland Northeast Boxing Tour will continue Mars 15 på MassMutual Center i Springfield, Mass., concluding Mars 21 at The Manchester Downtown Hotel in New Hampshire.

The tradition started back in the 19th century with “The Boston Strongboy,” John. L. Sullivan (Roxbury, MA), the first millionaire American athlete, as well as the first “gloves” world heavyweight champion and final “bare knuckles” heavyweight champion of the world. An International Boxing Hall of Famer, Sullivan won 38 av 38 pro kamper, 30 coming by knockout, with only one loss and two draws.

Irish boxers from Greater Boston continued this rich tradition through the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries with world champions and top contenders such as welterweight Paddy Duffy (31-3,16, 18 KOs), Lawrence welterweight Mike Glover(Cavanaugh – 30-5-5, 16 KOs), and Charlestown welterweight Mike “Twin” Sullivan(28-6-16, 17 KOs), and Newton bantamweight Jimmy Walsh (33-10-20, 14 KOs)
In the 1950’s, Woburn lightweight “Irish” Tommy Collins (61-12, 44 KOs) was dropped 10 times at the Boston Garden by world champion Jimmy Carter, until he finally succumbed in the fourth round. His gutsy performance, men, earned him an appearance on the popular Ed Sullivan Show.
Arlington heavyweight Tom McNeeley (37-14, 28 KOs), unsuccessfully fought for the world title in 1961, stopped in the fourth round of his Toronto fight versus defending champion Floyd Patterson, and McNeeley’s son, Boston-native and later Medfield resident Peter “Orkan” McNeeley (47-7, 30 KOs) famously was stopped in the opening round by “Iron” Mike Tyson in the latter’s first fight after his release from prison.
In the 1980’s, Irish boxers made their way to Boston to fight; some returned home after their careers, others relocated in the area. I 1984, Ireland-native Sean Mannion (42-14, 13 KOs), who had moved to the Dorchester section of Boston, lost a 15-round decision in Madison Square Garden to Mike McCallum for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight World Championship.
Steve “Celtic Warrior” Collins (25-2-1, 18 KOs) moved to Everett, later to Brockton, to work with Goody og Pat Petronelli, who handled Marvelous Marvin Hagler throughout is Hall of Fame career. Collins captured the World Boxing Organization (WBO) middleweight and super middleweight world titles before moving back to Ireland.
Collins’ younger brother, Packie Collins, also moved to Brockton to fight. He later worked with Irish heavyweight champion Kevin “The Clones Colossus” McBride (35-10-1, 29 KOs), who went on to knock Tyson out and into retirement. McBride, who still lives in Dorchester, was a stablemate of former Team Ireland head coach and current Team USA head coach, Billy Walsh, at the European Games. Both were also Ireland Olympians, henholdsvis, i 1988 og 1992.
Another Ireland Olympian, Wayne “Pocket Rocket” McCullough (27-7, 18 KOs), moved to Las Vegas from Northern Ireland. The luck of the Irish wasn’t with him in Boston in 1997, when he lost his World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight title at Hynes Convention Center, by way of a 12-round split decision to Daniel Zaragoza.
Arguably the most famous and popular Irish-American boxer, outside of Sullivan and Jack Dempsey, is Lowell junior welterweight “Irish” Micky Ward (38-13, 27 KOs), who was involved in three Fight of the Year award winners, two from his epic trilogy with Arturo Gatti, and the first boxer with more than 10 career losses to earn a $1-million purse. Ward’s life was portrayed by another Boston icon, actor Mark Wahlberg, in the award-winning movie, “The Fighter.”
Irish boxers are still coming to Boston to fight. Locally-based Murphys Boxing has promoted numerous shows in Boston featuring world-class boxers such as Gary “Spike” O'Sullivan and undefeated super bantamweight TJ “Makt” Doheny (18-0, 13 KOs), as well as undefeated rising stars such as “Sting” Ray Mayotte and New England & Massachusetts heavyweight champion Niall Kennedy (10-0, 6 KOs).
The Irish team will announce its boxers later this month after the conclusion of its National Championships.
Headlining Team USA’s roster is 2017 VM bronse medalist Troy Isley(Alexandria, VA).
