BOXING’S TOP WOMEN TO HONOR KATHY DUVA WITH “RAGING BABE LUMINARY” AWARD AT RAGING BABE BRUNCH, NEW YORK, NEW YORK

NEW YORK – Mai 24, 2016 – The weekend of June 11th, boxing’s most influential women will gather for brunch in the Big Apple for the 7th Raging Babe event of its kind, dubbed New York, New York. Attendees will include promoters, network executives, public relations representatives, referees, fighters and others, and come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and levels of experience. Women who have attended Raging Babe events have networked, forged business and personal relationships and have been inspired by the stories of success and persistence shared by the hundreds of attendees over the past few years. There may be no woman that better personifies a story of success and persistence than Kathy Duva, who will be honored with the Raging Babe Luminary Award at the brunch.

Duva, the CEO of Main Events, and a mother of three, has been involved with boxing for nearly forty years, entering the business while in college with her then boyfriend Dan Duva. The Duvas teamed up to promote some of boxing’s top talent over the years under the Main Events banner, including Evander Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Pernell Whitacker, Arturo Gatti and Fernando Vargas, all while cultivating powerful relationships with HBO and other networks. Kathy continued her husband’s legacy after his passing in 1996, becoming one of the most recognized figures in boxing. Sist, Duva and Main Events have developed one of boxing’s most avoided superstars in Sergey Kovalev.

“Kathy Duva is the perfect honoree for our first New York City Brunch,” said Raging Babe founder and namesake Michelle Rosado. “Boksing, like the ‘Concrete Jungle,’ has so many hard edges, and can be tough to navigate…but like New York City, it is full of opportunity for the right type of person, and Kathy Duva is that kind of person. Past Raging Babe event honorees have included the “First Lady of Boxing” Jackie Kallen, PR ess Kelly Swanson, TV trailblazer Claudia Trejo, heart transplant recipient Kennedy Cunningham, Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame Chief Operating Officer Michelle Corrales-Lewis, and Golden Boy’s Monica Sears. “It’s a privilege to stand in a room with women of this caliber,” said Rosado. “The Raging Babe Brunch started as a concept…something we might try to do yearly, but it’s become such a powerful and valuable event for attendees, we’re growing and doing more than one event per year. We’re able to do this because of the women of boxing that continue to support the event, and of course, thanks to our event partners.

NEW YORK – Mai 11, 2016 – The Raging Babe Brunch continues to forge connections between women of diverse backgrounds, companies and areas of expertise, all sharing in common their connections to the Sweet Science. På June 11th, the heels of Raging Babes from across the East Coast and beyond, hit the pavement in the “Concrete Jungle,” New York, New York for the first New York eventi tre år.

An intimate, exclusive affair, this spring’s Raging Babe Brunch, dubbed New York, New York will once again bring together boxing’s most influential women to network, and honor the sport’s trailblazers: those women who have broken the glass ceiling and transcended traditional gender roles in business, and in particular, i boksing.

The brunch shares June 11th with a Puerto Rican double-header at New York City boxing mecca, Madison Square Garden, along with the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade. “I’m excited for the opportunity to celebrate both my heritage, and our seventh Raging Babe event,” said Raging Babe founder and namesake, Michelle Rosado, who is of Puerto Rican descent.

WBO Champion Amanda Serrano calls out IBF Champion Jennifer Han for a world title unification bout

På April 22, 2016, history was made in Puerto Rico’s professional boxing, when a female boxing match was the featured bout of the evening, held in the city of Trujillo Alto, where the four-time world champion in three divisions, Amanda ‘The Real Deal’ Serrano ( 28-1-1, 21 KO s ) defeated the number 6th ranked, Edina ‘DNA’ Kiss of Budapest, Hungary by TKO in the fourth round.
Just a week later, IBF featherweight world champion, Jennifer Han of El Paso, Texas, was also in a main event match in front of her people from El Paso, and defeated Colombian, Calixta Silgado via unanimous decision in a ten round fight.
“I think the timing is perfect!” Amanda Serrano said, “We both come from recent fights, both of us scored victories and are uninjured and in great condition. Women’s boxing and our fans deserve to see who is the best featherweight in a unification bout”.
Han ( 14-3-1, 1 KO s ) has fought her last four fights in her hometown of El Paso, Texas.
“It’s funny because a few weeks ago I had my first fight in Puerto Rico, and have fought in the United States, Sveits, Argentina and Dominican Republic. True Champions often leave their comfort zone to prove they are the real deal in boxing. Jeg er alltid klar,” Said Serrano, who is the current WBO featherweight World Champion.

Marston to Challenge Tshabalala for Her World Crown on July 2nd

Over the past week or so the World’s press have been focusing heavily on the recently announced 9th July Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko WBO-WBA-IBO Unified Heavyweight Championships rematch. Quite rightly so, it’s a huge fight, however just one week earlier, an equally World significant unification bout is also set to take place right here in the United Kingdom.

 

July 2nd, at the Arena UK in Grantham, Lincolnshire, Verden #15 and British #1 ranked Marianne Marston will not only be challenging South Africa’s World Boxing Federation (WBFed) Super Bantamweight World Champion Gabisile Tshabalala for her coveted crown, but will also be aiming to secure the World Boxing Union (WBU), Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) and Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) World accolades.

 

London based Marston, who was originally due to challenge Unathi Myekeni for the Bantamweight version of the WBFed strap back in December, that was until Myekeni was forced to withdraw following a hand injury, is cleary relishing the belated opportunity, som hun gjorde det klart da hun talte tidligere.

I’ve seen video of Gabisile, when she fought Shannon (O'Connell) i 2013, but would very much like to find any video of her when she won the World title last year. I know how much I have changed, fight wise, siden 2013 so really want to see if there are any changes to her style or tactics.

 

From what I have seen, she’s a classy fighter, very quick hands. When she fought Shannon, she was mainly counter punching, which would suit me, but for some reason I have a feeling she will have a very different approach as a defending Champion.

 

Uansett, this will be a great fight for the fans, there’s such a contrast in our styles and in my view it’s those differences in style and tactical approach that will make this such a great fight to watch.

 

British boxing is booming, we have so many World Champions at the moment, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, Kell Brook, Carl Frampton, Lee Selby, Liam Smith, Jamie McDonnell, Lee Haskins, Tony Moran, Craig Docherty, Terry Flanagan, Anthony Crolla, James DeGale and of course my old gym mate at the TKO, Billy Joe Saunders.

 

Obviously they’re all men, so I want to redress the deficit a little and join them, as well as be the first British Female boxer to be crowned World Champion since Jane Couch beat Jaime Clampitt for the IWBF title in 2004.”

Amanda Serrano Sends an Ultimatum to All World Champions in her Division

New York – To ganger verdensmester, Amanda ‘The Real Deal’ Serrano from Carolina, Puerto Rico, but now living in Brooklyn, will be fighting on Februar 17 in Manhatthan for the vacant WBO World female featherweight title against former world champion, Olivia Gerula of Canada.
The ambitious Puerto Rican lefty wants to become the undisputed world champion in the featherweight division, and has a message to the current title holders.
“Akkurat nå, I’m only focused on Olivia, but at the same time I’m very confident about bringing that belt to Brooklyn and Puerto Rico on Februar 17,” said Amanda Serrano, who is promoted by DiBella Entertainment.
“Once I get that beatiful belt, we will be looking to unify. There is Jennifer Han, who is the IBF world champion, Soledad Matthysse is the WBC and WBA champion, and she is fighting Jelena Mrdjenovich. I want the winner!”
“Unifying all four featherweight titles is the only thing we care about. If we fail to make that happen, I will go down to 122 to fight for another world title, and become a four division legitimate world champion just like Miguel Cotto”.
Serrano (26-1-1, 19 KO) vs. gerula (17-15-2, 3KO) showdown will take place at the famed B.B. King Blues Club and Grill marking the first world title fight in the club’s history.
August 15, 2014, Serrano reiste til Argentina for å møte WBO Lett verdensmester Maria 'Tily’ Maderna, som på den tiden, hadde tre vellykkede forsvar av titler, men kunne ikke håndtere aggressivitet puertoricanske makt puncher, and decided to give up in the sixth round.

London promoter Mark Lyons har gått sammen med Championship valgkamp Marianne Marston å co-fremme et stort pre-Christmas event, treffende navnet LET BATTLE starte, på York Hall i Bethnal Green, London, på søndag, den 6th desember.

 

Overskriften opp femten-bout kortet er ikke mindre enn tre VM-kamper;

 

Bradford Tasif Khan gjør sitt inntog på verdensscenen, når han utfordrer Ghanas Isaac Quaye for World Boxing Union Super fluevekt Championship.

 

Regjerende verdensmester Boxing Union Super mellomvekt International Champion, Jeezy, Essex George 'Hithard' Hillyard har som mål å legge til den ledige WBU Verden krone i samlingen, når han står overfor en ennå ikke navngitt motstander.

I tillegg til den øverste klassen boksing fayre, arrangementet vil også inneholde den første live-opptreden av lokale sangstjerne Stephan Dante, hvem som skal utføre sin viral smash 'Nails Did', samt ytterligere spor fra henne snart å bli utgitt debutalbum.

 

Å stappe all denne handlingen i dørene åpnes på 2:30pm, med den første bout som starter på 3pm.

ASHLEY TOPS ILAGT FIGHT KORT PÅ AVIATOR i Brooklyn
BROOKLYN, N.Y.. (Oktober. 28, 2015) – She is a dean at the Bernard Hopkins School of Pugilism.
Alicia Ashley, 48 år, vil forsøke å vinne en VM-tittel, WBC verden kvinnelige super bantamvekt krone, torsdag kveld i Brooklyn, og hvis hun er vellykket, hun vil bli hedret med en annen utrolig tillegg til hennes CV. Hun vil få en annen oppføring i Guinness Book of World Records som den eldste kvinnelige å vinne en VM-tittel, sette et enda høyere bar med henne utrolig lang levetid og holdbarhet.
Forsøket vil finne sted på en annen “Brooklyn slagsmål” kort fremmet av Dmitriy Salita, og Ashley vil bli koblet sammen med Christina McMahon, på en skifer kjører på Aviator kompleks i sør Brooklyn.
Ashley sports a 22-10-1 (4 KOs) rekord, og delte noen av det som gjør tick henne, og fortsette å holde ut forbi et punkt hvor selv de sturdiest pugilists henge opp votter.

“Jeg føler jeg har hatt en strålende karriere i boksing som dessverre ikke gjenspeiles monetarily,” Ashley sa. “Jeg er en fire ganger verdensmester og har vært i Guinness Book of World Records som den eldste kvinnelige boksing mester. Jeg har kjempet over hele verden og har fått respekt uansett hvor og når jeg kjempe. For meg, boksing er en forestilling, og jeg gjør alltid mitt beste for å underholde.”

Salita sa at han forventer hun vil gjøre nettopp det. “Vi er beæret over å ha en så overlegen atlet og rollemodell topping denne fine kortet,” han sa. “Alicia er noens menn, kvinner og barn kan se opp til, noen som har så mange gode kvaliteter, som en idrettsutøver og en person.”

Ashley kjemper for kjærligheten til håndverket, og arbeider på hennes ferdigheter etter å sette i en dags arbeid. “Min viktigste jobb er en personlig og boksing trener på Gleason Gym,” fortsatte hun. “Jeg bor i Bed Stuy, Brooklyn med min mann Matthieu, som jeg møtte på treningsstudio for seks år siden.”

“Christina McMahon er en ubeseiret fighter som har gått i andres bakgård og vant en tittel. Hun vil være en formidabel motstander som kommer til å kjempe, og det er perfekt for min glatt stil. Jeg er en lang avstand fighter og spår at jeg vil komme unna med en enstemmig avgjørelse seier.”
