Como dijiste, it’s going to be a big fight with a guy that’s undefeated. I’m sure he’s coming in looking to knock me out. I’m coming in to knock him out, seguro. Pero, amateur transition into the pros, I would say was a little bit easier for myself than it was for most amateurs. los aficionados, a lot of my wins came by way of knockouts, so I’ve been knocking guys out since day one.

 

It’s one of those things that I transitioned from putting punches in bunches to putting punches in bunches with power. I’m throwing a lot more punches now. I’m putting a lot more punches together with power. Every punch I throw has got devastating power. I not only punch with the right hand, but I can punch with the left. So long as I make contact, somebody’s going down for sure.

No, para nada. Coming off the last fight with a loss at the short end of the stick, it drives you to be hungry. Así, that’s why I wanted to get right back into the ring, stay active. That’s one of the biggest problems with being inactive and not having enough action throughout the year. It’s hard to come back and be 100 percent sharp, so the plan is to just stay sharp all year and get back on it.

Did that factor into your wanting to come back so soon? I know you said you want to stay sharp, pero, obviamente, staying in the public eye helps as well.

 

Robert Guerrero: Ay, definitivamente. Out of sight, out of mind. So you want to stay active, you want to stay busy; you want to stay sharp. You want to stay in the public eye to make that big run before time passes.

Aron, I just have one question for you. You’ve been out of the ring for over a year since your fight with Josesito. Was there any reason for that delay? Could you just not get fights or did you just want to take the time off to clear your head?
La. Martínez

It was just with my promoter, little here and there, they were not giving me the right fights. Anybody that knows me, I stayed in the gym, because that’s what makes it easy for me, making weight. I never have trouble making weight and that goes to show that I stay active. I stay active in the gym and that’s what it is.

 

Q

My question is for Robert Guerrero. I was a little disappointed to see that it took you quite a while to get into the fight with Keith Thurman. Do you feel like that’s going to be something you’re going to change for this fight with Aron, is taking off right off the bat, primera ronda?

 

R. Guerrero

Sí, it goes back to being active in the ring. Everybody says, bien, Me siento muy bien, there’s no ring rust, and this and that, but you truly don’t know until you get into that ring. Entonces, those long layoffs really kill me. You develop bad habits. You lay back a little bit too much, and you end up getting started a little bit late like I did in the Thurman fight. Can you talk about getting up for this fight, because you fought such top level opponents and championship fights, Thurman and Mayweather and higher profile fights, and I think in this fight, you’re going to come in as a favorite. Can you talk about making sure that you don’t overlook Aron Martinez and staying sharp and getting up mentally.

 

R. Guerrero

I found that out earlier in my career with a loss against Gamaliel Diaz. I was overlooking him, thought I was going to take him out and he ended up out-boxing me. He beat me by one point.

What do you think your advantages are over him coming into this fight?
R. Guerrero

Maybe the arm reach, the hand speed, the height. It’s a matter of not just having the advantages, but putting them to work and using them, and sticking to your game plan and being well prepared and being able to execute. Yes of course. It’s on national TV at StubHub Center, this is where I grew up. It’s my home base. Tengo 23 peleas. Out of these 23 peleas, I’ve never been the favorite; I’ve always been the underdog. Before escaping communist Cuba, where Lara had to swim in dangerous waters to reach freedom, he was a decorated international amateur champion, winning numerous titles against some of today’s champions. He has followed his dream of becoming a world champion and now looks to build on his legacy.

 

Having fought some of the top names in the super welterweight division, Lara is looking to keep the momentum roaring with a dominant performance against the always tough Delvin Rodriguez. “Mi objetivo desde que era un niño y me metí en este deporte iba a ser el mejor. Cumplí un sueño cuando llegué a los Juegos Olímpicos en 17 y trajo una medalla de plata. Más tarde me convertí en campeón del mundo y luego unificó la división de peso welter ligero. Mi objetivo ahora es luchar contra los mejores en 147 libras y hacer mi marca en esta división también.

 

“Yo estaba fuera en el campo de entrenamiento cuando mi hija se volvió de la semana pasada. Es difícil estar lejos de ella, sino como un luchador esos son los sacrificios que tienen que hacer. GILROY, TAL COMO (Mayo 26, 2015) – Durante el ingreso de los últimos días del campamento de entrenamiento, cuatro divisiones campeón del mundo, Robert “El Santo” Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs), da su opinión sobre su próxima PBC en NBC evento principal atracción en contra Aron Martínez. El combate a 10 asaltos tendrá lugar en StubHub Center en Carson, Calif., Junio 6, 2015 y se transmitirá en vivo por NBC a partir de las 3:00 p.m. Y/12:00 p.m. PT.

“Primero Realmente quiero agradecer a Al Haymon para traer el boxeo de regreso a la afición. “Cuando un luchador está constantemente mantenerse ocupado, hace un mundo de diferencia. Mi tiempo se ha reducido, mi cuerpo se utiliza para el entrenamiento riguroso. Cuando estoy en la rutina, Realizo en un nivel mucho más alto. Esta será la primera vez que he tenido espalda con espalda peleas en un tiempo muy largo. Viendo esta pelea todo el mundo verá la diferencia en mi estilo de lucha.

 

En la lucha contra en el Centro de StubHub

“El Centro de StubHub es probablemente mi lugar favorito para luchar en. Los aficionados son increíbles. Todo el mundo tiene un gran asiento y se puede sentir la energía de la multitud mientras estás luchando. Es como si hubiera justo encima de ti. Por alguna razón el Centro de StubHub pone de manifiesto el espíritu guerrero en todo el mundo. Es un gran lugar para luchar!”

 

En el campo de entrenamiento…

“El campo de entrenamiento ha ido genial. Como he mencionado antes, cuando te quedas activo, todo fluye mucho más suave. He tomado mis sesiones de entrenamiento a un nuevo nivel. Yo soy más rápido en mis pies y mi tiempo es en el clavo. Mi padre Rubén que me entrena, es muy feliz con mi progreso. Todo se ha unido realmente agradable. Es hora de ir a la guerra!”
