New M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Rashid Yusopov
ORENBURG CITY, Русија (Мај 28, 2016) – Last night’s М-1 Цхалленге 66 event had its share of upsets, leading with a main event split decision victory by Rashid Yusopov over defending M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Виктор Немков, in Orenburg City, Русија.

Russian challenger Yusopov (7-2-0, М-1: 4-1-0) won a hard fought 5-round split decision over defending champion Nemkov (23-6-0, М-1: 14-5-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Kazakhstan, who was making his initial title defense.
Nemkov had captured the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title this past December, taking a 5-round decision from defending champion Puetz, who had won a 5-round split decision April, 2014 against Nemkov for the title. Nemkov is a two-time M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion having defeated Василиј Бабич (ВСУБ3 – рука-лоцк) for the vacant title that he then lost in his first title defense to Puetz.
The 23-year-old Yusupov was riding a 4-fight win streak going into his fight with Nemkov. A former Russian, European and World Amateur MMA champion, Yusupov is known as a dangerous striker whose signature moves are powerful kicks.

Емеев (14-3-0, М-1: 8-1-0) suffered a torn ligament in his elbow during training camp. In a M-1 Challenge Grand Prix Middleweight Tournament semifinals match last February, Vasilevsky lost a majority decision to Shlemenko in the М-1 Цхалленге 64 Борба оф тхе Нигхт.
“We were in a very difficult situation after Ramazan Иmeev got injured,” М-1 Глобал председник Вадим Финкелхтејн explained. “The whole event was in jeopardy. Korobkov (9-0-1, М-1: 0-0-1) is coming off of a hard-fought draw with Родриго Магалхаес(see above picture) last December at М-1 Цхалленге 63, in which he had his 9-fight win streak snapped that started with his pro debut.

Емеев (14-3-0, М-1: 8-1-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Дагестан, is the reigning M-1 Challenge middleweight champion, although his title belt will not be at stake against Shlemenko. The 28-year-old Emeev, ко је био 2015 M-1 Global Fighter of the Year, is a two-time M-1 Challenge middleweight champion. M-1 Global also announced that former M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Степхан “Т-800” Пуетз will also return to action against M-1 Global-debuting Andrej Seledcov.
Немков (23-5-0, М-1: 14-4-0) captured the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title this past December, taking a hard-fought 5-round decision from defending champion Пуетз, who had won a 5-round split decision April, 2014 against Nemkov for the title. Ramazan (14-3-0, М-1: 810), the 2015 M-1 Global Fighter of the Year, used a choke hold on his Brazilian opponent, Maiquel “Big Rig” Facao (35-9-0, М-1: 0-1-0), in their M-1 Grand Prix middleweight semifinals match. The main event ended at the 2:50 mark of the opening round as Ramazan advances to face three-time Bellator champion Александар “Олуја” Шлеменко (51-9-0, М-1: 2-0-0) in the upcoming M-1 Grand Prix Middleweight Championship showdown.
