LAS VEGAS (September 10, 2016) – The heat was on last night at “Knockout Night at the D,” in en uit de ring, thoroughly entertaining another sold-out crowd at the outdoorDowntown Las Vegas Events Center.
On a stacked card that had fans on their feet all night, Canadian Steve “De draak” Claggett (24-4-1, 16 KO) van streek Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles (15-1-1, 5 KO) in het main event, promoted in association with Bobby D Presents, but it was NeecoThe RoosterMacias (13-0, 7 KO) who stole the show in the co-feature

JimJ.R.Ross en Al Bernstein called the action from ringside on CBS Sports Network in North America and internationally via ESPN.

Steve Claggett (L) upset Emmanuel Robles
Claggett, fighting out of Calgary, Canada, dropped down one weight class. Coming off a disputed 10-round decision loss to Chris van Heerden this past April, also at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center, Claggett won a 10-round majority decision (98-92, 98-92, 94-96)vanavond for the vacant North American Boxing Association (Ook) weltergewicht titel. His expert body work allowed him to dictate the pace of the boxing match.
This is a long time coming, Claggett admitted. “I took the loss (vs. van Heerden) in stride, vowing to go back to the gym and make changes. I went down to 140 (lbs.) and it was the right decision. I’m stronger. I I really worked hard.
I landed a couple of shots that hurt him noticeably. Hij is taai. Robles is a champion in the making. Ik heb veel respect voor hem. Dit is mijn leven. Zij (his loss to van Heerden) fueled me. The fire’s back in me. I love fighting in Las Vegas.
NeecoThe RoosterMacias (L) stole the show to became a rising star
The co-feature showcased a pair undefeated junior middleweights and from the opening bell it was a real firefight. Macias forced Rolando “RolaGarza (9-1, 6 KO), a 3-time Mexican National amateur champion, to fight his fight. Macia’s aggressive style, always coming forward, throwing punches from every conceivable angle, ruled the coop. Garza got caught up in the action and paid for it, although the score after was 39-37, 39-37 for Macias, 39-37 for Garza, entering the fifth and final round. Macia’s constant pressure controlled the action, wearing down Garza, and paid dividends as he dropped Garza in the fifth. Scheidsrechter Jay Nady had seen enough, halting the fight at that point as much due to the damage Garza had suffered in the first four rounds as the knockdown.
A rising star was born in Macia, who captured the vacant World Boxing Association (WBC) United States junior middleweight championship. “It’s conditioning, a lot of work,” Macias explained the reason for his non-stop action before crowing loudly in the ring. “I stuck to the game plan. I knew he’d come to fight with a lot of skill to out-box me and get points. My game plan was throw a lot of upper cuts and punches from every angle. It was all about throwing combinations.
He had a lot pf power, so I used defense to block punches. In the last round, I put punches together. I think the fight was stopped a little early and he could have kept going, but I didn’t see what he saw, and the referee was looking out for the fighters so we can fight another day.
Jeremy Nichols remained undefeated
In the television opener, flashy Las Vegas welterweight JeremyJ-FlashNichols (6-0, 2 KO) kept rolling, winning a 4-round unanimous decision over Steve Belmontes (2-1, O KOs). Nichols outworked his opponent, consistently beating Belmontes to the punch with his superior quickness.
I think it could have been a little flashier,” Nichols admitted. “But give it up to my opponent, he came to fight. Met meer dan 100 amateur gevechten, he could take a punch but he kept coming. My goal was to take everything from him and make him fight my fight. His hands were a little slower and he took a lot of good body shots and counters.
Marina Ramirez (R) was a crowd pleaser
Idaho junior flyweight Marina “Rotsachtig” Ramirez (40-36, 40-36, 40-36) pitched a 4-round shutout, verslaan Rachel “De zwarte weduwe” Sazoff (0-2) door scores van 40-36 over de hele linie. “I landed a lot of shots,” Ramirez noted. “I respect her, she was tough. The game plan worked and we got the win.
Randy Moreno (L) keeps improving
Twenty-year-old Randy Moreno (4-0, 3 KO) turned in the best performance of his young career, stopping Australian junior lightweight “12” Gaige Ireland (2-1-2, 2 KO) in de derde ronde. Moreno fights with the poise of a much older fighter, effectively counter punching from the opening bell. “Het voelt geweldig,” Moreno commented. “I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t forGil Martinez (hoofdtrainer). He is notorious for his training methods and it’s paid off. I’ve been with him 10 jaar. Fighting here at home means the world to me.
Ismail Muwendo (L) bleef ongeslagen
Ongeslagen lichtgewicht vooruitzicht IsmailSharp ShooterMuwendo, fighting out of Minneapolis by way of his native Uganda, verbeterd 18-0 (12 KO), taking a one-sided six-round unanimous decision from Eliseo Cruz (9-2-1, 6 KO). “I think I did well, I was out of the ring a long time,” Muwendo commented. He’s a tough guy who was ready.
Max Ornelas (R) opened the show in grand style
Las Vegas favorite Max “Baby Face Assassin” Ornelas (4-0, 2 KO) remained unbeaten by way of a 4-round unanimous decision over Jonathan “Johnny BoyQuiorz (6-5, 1 KO). “I was confident (of winning the decision,” the 18-year-old Ornelas said. “I was out-boxing him. I love fighting here. I have a lot of support from family and friends; I’m motivated when I hear them.

Frank Galarza Camp Notes Once-Beaten Contender Battles Former World Champion Ishe Smith in Main Event of Premier Boxing Champions: De volgende ronde op Bounce TV

Vrijdag, Zeven. 16 From The Chelsea inside
The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas – 9 p.m. EN/6 p.m.PT
LAS VEGAS (Zeven. 6, 2016) – Brooklyn-born contender Openhartig “Berucht” Galarza has been the embodiment of a redemption story his whole life and he will look to keep that theme going when he returns from his first pro loss to take on former world champion Is Hij “Sugar Shay” Smid in het main event van Premier Boxing Champions: De volgende ronde op Bounce TV Vrijdag, Zeven. 16 uit De Chelsea binnen The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Televised coverage begins on Bounce TV at 9 p.m. EN/6 p.m. PT and features a super welterweight showdown between Domonique Dolton (17-0-1, 9 KO)en Justin DeLoach (15-1, 8 KO).
Tickets voor de live-evenement, die wordt gepromoot door Mayweather Promotions, beginnen $29 en zijn nu te koop. Tickets areavailable online at: www.cosmopolitanlasvegas.com or through Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 en www.ticketmaster.com.
After being defeated by unbeaten Jarret Hurd in November 2015, Galarza is determined to reclaim his spot as a contender in the 154-pound division. Training out of the Flatbush Cops and Kids Boxing Gym in Brooklyn with longtime trainer Nirmal Lorick, Galarza has his sights set on the top of the super welterweight division.
Here is what Galarza had to say about training camp, his main event showdown, the 154-pound division and more:
What kind of problems does Ishe Smith propose and what does a victory over him do for you?
FG: I don’t anticipate having any problems with Ishe. I spar the best guys in the world and with guys who have a lot more experience than I do. I’m going to go in, do my job and make adjustments as needed.
Beating Ishe puts me exactly where I need to be. I took my first loss in Las Vegas and I wasn’t on my A-game. Fighting Ishe puts me right back after the loss. I constantly put myself to the test with top guys. Ishe is someone in my path who at this point, is in my way.
What’s your mentality following the loss in your last fight?
FG:I have lost so much in my life, so I see this loss as just a number. Boxing has everyone fooled that we need to be undefeated to be a top contender or to be great. Some of the greatest fighters have suffered losses. I am looking to be legendary and continue to fight great guys. I’m going to put my record on the line and challenge myself.
I don’t have a deep boxing background, so I’m learning on the job. I am able to overcome every obstacle. This fight isn’t about the money, this fight and my career is for me. I want to challenge myself.
Who do you see as the top fighters in the 154-pound division?
FG: The Charlo Brothers, Demetrius Andrade, Julian Williams and Erislandy Lara are the top of the division in my mind. There are a lot of good fighters in this division. At this point now, the other guys need to go, and that’s where I come into play. Someone like Ishe is an older guy and he needs to give it up and get out of the way for hungry guys like me and the rest of us. People want to see guys like us.
Who would you like to matchup with, if you can defeat Ishe Smith?
FG: I’ll face anybody. I’m not trying to fluff my record. I come off a tough loss and I’m looking to beat a former world champion. Give me the best fight and the top guys. Give me one of the Charlo brothers and I’ll fight for one of their titles. Put me in with any of these guys and I will put them to the test, if not beat them.
It’s a drive I have in me, especially lately, where I feel like I’ve been overlooked. It upsets me to be underestimated. I never turn down a fight. I have to be fearless in order to make it where I need to go. I am not a mediocre fighter. There’s a reason they call me the ‘Brooklyn Rocky.I’ve been through adversity and Ishe is in for a rude awakening. The boxing industry has me completely underestimated and at the end of the day, may the best man win.
Talk about your work outside of the ring and how you strive to inspire kids who grew up in similar situations to yourself:
FG: I have a non-profit called Youth Fighting Forward. I teach them that no matter what you go through, you can be whoever you want to be I came from nothing and I lost my parents at a young age. I don’t use that as an excuse. I refuse to be a statistic. I want to give the kids back that inspiration.
Whatever it is you love to do; you are more than capable of doing it. It is in your hands to be a success story. You are not where you came from. We have the ability to change lives. My focus is to help kids growing up who are surrounded by negativity to see a positive. I put my body to the limits and when I don’t want to work out, I push through that. I want to show the kids that they have to have discipline to get through it and one day, I will be a world champion.

LAS VEGAS (Augustus 22, 2016) – Undefeated San Diego prospect Emmanuel “Renegade” Robles takes on Canadian welterweight champion Steve “De draak” Claggett in a crossroads fight for both op vrijdag nacht, September 9, in the return of “Knockout Night at the D,” luchten (11 p.m. EN / 8 p.m. PT) live op CBS Sports Networkfrom the outdoor Centrum van Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC).
De “Knockout Night at the D” serie, gepresenteerd door het D Las Vegas en DLVEC, wordt gepromoot door Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boksen Promotions. Hall Of Fame announcers JimJ.R.Ross en Al Bernstein will call all of the action from ringside on CBS Sports Network.
Robles vs. Claggett, promoted in association with Bobby D Presents, is the 10-round main event for the vacant North American Boxing Association (Ook) – United States junior welterweight championship.
Zeven. 9th has the potential to be the most explosive top-to-bottom card in the already praised 2016 “Knockout Night at the D” serie, which consistently showcases morgenstars in highly competitive, compelling match-ups.
“Knockout Night at the D’ is truly establishing itself in Downtown Las Vegas as a premier event for boxing fans in the community and beyond,” zei Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas and DLVEC. “From hometown heavy-hitters to up-and-coming amateur fighters, the second half of this series will bring unforgettable, action-packed shows that can’t be missed.
Een voormalige World Boxing Council (WBC) Latino super lightweight champion, as well as a 2008 National PAL gold medalist. I am excited to showcase my skills once again as the main event on a Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions card,” Robles zei. “Both of my promoters, RJJ & Bobby D, are presenting me with such an incredible opportunity to fight for the Regional NABA Title belt. My opponent is in for the boxing lesson of his life. I know Claggett will be a strong contender and brings a power punch to the table. He is going to be challenging, the toughest opponent I’ve had to face thus far in my boxing career, but I am ready to show my opponent and his team the skills that will help me capture the title and bring it home to RJJ and my team.
It’s an honor to display my superior boxing skills for Roy Jones Jr. on CBS Sports Network and I am humbled that Las Vegas has accepted me with such open arms. Defeating Claggett will put me on the map as a contender for the top 140-pounders in the world such as (Adrien) Broner, (Terence)Crawford & (Victor) Postal.
The 27-year-old Claggett (23-4-1, 16 KO) needs to bounce back from a disputed 10-round loss by majority decision the Chris van Heerden in his last fight this past April, also at the DLVEC, to revitalize his career. Claggett is taking a risk by dropping down one weight class in order to challenge junior welterweight Robles.

“Deze strijd betekent alles voor mij,” Claggett explained. It is a make or break fight for my career and I have a chance to re-enter the boxing world at 140 pond, which is a weight that I believe I should have been fighting at a little while ago. I have a new trainer for the first timea new teamand I am looking forward to showing fans a new fighter. A victory will stamp my name as a true world champion contender. I understand my position and I know that I am on the ‘Bside, but I have been in this position many times before. I have a lot of experience in the sport of boxing and it has finally all come together for me. This will be my best fight. My focus and training will show on fight night.

My opponent is a strong fighter. Robles is a sharp boxer and he has a good history in the sport as well. He is a southpaw and brings a good record to the table. All respect to the Robles team, but I am ready to fight for my life, and this is what this sport is all about. Expect me to bring everything I have and put on a ’10war for the fans.
A firefight is developing for the 8-round co-feature between unbeaten prospects Rolando “RolaGarza (9-0, 6 KO) en NeecoRosterMacias (12-0, 6 KO), who will throw-down for the vacant WBCUS junior middleweight championship.
The opening 4-round television fight pits two young welterweights, lokale favoriet JeremyJ-FlashNichols (5-0, 2 KO) and Texan Steve Belmonte (2-0), in another rare showdown between unbeaten prospects.
Also scheduled to fight on the undercards are undefeated Ugandan lightweight prospectIsmailSharp ShooterMuwendo (17-0, 11 KO), fighting out of Minneapolis, in an 8-rounder vs. TBA. Brock dominates Gutierrez in heated fight To retain WBC United States lightweight title OFFICIAL RESULTS

Team Brock Celebrates
(all pictures by MannyMittsMurillo / RJJ Boksen Promotions)
LAS VEGAS (Juni 10, 2016) – The heat was on in Las Vegas vanavond, temperature-wise as well as the action inside the ring, for the third installment of “Knockout Night at the D” serie, which aired live on CBS Sports Network from the outdoorCentrum van Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) in 90+ degree conditions before another capacity crowd.
An old-time Las Vegas grudge match turned into a highly entertaining boxing war as WBC United States (USNBC) lichtgewicht kampioen DemondBody Shot” Brock(12-3-1, 4 KO) won a hard fought 10-round decision over former USNBC 135-pound titlist and previously unbeaten challenger Chuy “Hurrican” Gutierrez (14-1-1, 4 KO).
(L-R) – Chuy Gutierrez and Demond Brock put on a real show
De “Knockout Night at the D” serie, gepresenteerd door het D Las Vegasen DLVEC, wordt gepromoot door Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boksen Promotions.
What a night we had downtown,” zei Derek Stevens, Owner and CEO of the D Las Vegas and DLVEC. “I want to thank the Nevada Athletic Commission for allowing us to do these fights outdoors. I want to shout out to Chuy and Brock,,,..what fighters! Let’s keep this going downtown.
Brock, fighting out of New Orleans, learned to box in Louisiana State Penitentiary, where he served nearly 15 jaar, sentenced as an adult at 15 for armed robbery. The determined lightweight controlled the pace and consistently beat hometown favorite Gutierrez to the punch all night. Gutierrez, a tough Mexican who lives in Las Vegas, showed the heart of a champion, albeit in a losing effort to a fresher Brock.
Brock (R) nails Gutierrez with right
I think I put on a great performance,” Brock commented after the fight. “I came out to give my best effort. We trained to fight inside to fight Chuy, not box, to make him uncomfortable in a fight he’s not used to. I won this fight on the inside. No backing up for 10 harde rondes. We prepared that way because we knew Chuy was going to come in throwing shots. But he’d never fought anybody of my caliber. I was looking to finish him but I didn’t want to get careless.
In a battle of unbeaten junior middleweight, Mexican invader Rolando “RolaGarza (9-0, 6 KO) en het Amerikaanse. Marine Corps veteran ErasmoThe Reckoning” Garcia (5-1-1, 3 KO) put on a show in the televised co-feature. All they really needed was a phone booth as the two warriors pounded each other from the opening bell, although Garza got the much better of the action for the first four rounds, buzzing Garcia at the end of the fourth. The game Garcia came back in the fifth, despite suffering a lot of damage from a relentless attack by Garza, who simply outclassed his overmatched opponent with his technical boxing skills. Garza, who was deducted a point for throwing a low blow in the fifth round, won a unanimous 6-round decision in a firefight.
We worked the body and, Godzijdank, won het gevecht,” Garza noted. “Hij is een taaie, unbeaten guy. We came here and did it. Viva Las Vegas!”
Garza (L) was too much for Garcia
In the television opener, Las Vegas welterweight prospect JeremyJ-FlashNichols (5-0. 2 KO) dominated previously unbeaten Adam Vasquez (5-1-1). The flashy Nichols dropped Vasquez twice in the final round to win a 4-round unanimous decision by scores of 40-34 drie keer.
Nichols decked Vasquez twice
Nichols won his third fight in the last three months, “I can go next week,” Nichols said after the fight. “He was tall fighter who was undefeated. He didn’t come here to lose. I take my hat off to him because I hit him with some great shots. He is a tough guy with a big heart. I had to do the Ali Shuffle in the first round because he was my favorite fighter.
Los Angeles heavyweight JohnathanJohnnieRice (4-1, 2 KO), een voormalig Winthrop College (NC) basketbalspeler, upset 4-time Mexican National amateur champion EdgarEl Chato” Ramirez (1-1, 1 KO), pitching a shutout for a unanimous 4-round decision.
Rice unloaded some haymakers on Ramirez
Las Vegas junior featherweight Max “Baby Face Assassin” Ornelas (1-0, 1 KO de an auspices pro debut, one day after his high school graduation ceremony, one day prior to his 18th verjaardag. Ornelas dropped Robert “Lil’ Beroven” Ledesma (1-5) midway through the first round. Ledesma rose but Ornelas hit him with a vicious left hook to the body, hurting Ledesma who turned his back and walked away in pain. Scheidsrechter Jay Nady stepped in and halted the fight.
17-year-old Ornelas (R) had an impressive pro debut
Zwaargewichten Tracey “De Titaan” Johnson (4-2-4), Boston, and Los AngelesCashtonFedia-Tone” Jong (2-1, 1 KO) set the stage in the opening fight of the evening. They stood toe-to-toe for most of the four rounds as Johnson, who has a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Emmanuel College, won a 4-round split decision.
Tracey Johnson (R) pulled off a win

Old-time Las Vegas grudge match headlines June 10th “Knockout Night at the D” Demond Brock vs. Chuy Gutierrez

Live on CBS Sports Network
LAS VEGAS (Mei 31, 2016) – An old-time grudge match between lightweights DemondBody Shot” Brock en Chuy “Hurrican” Gutierrez will headline the third installment of the “Knockout Night at the D” serie, Vrijdag nacht, Juni 10, luchten (11 p.m. EN / 8 p.m. PT) live op CBS Sports Network from the outdoor Centrum van Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC).
De “Knockout Night at the D” serie, gepresenteerd door het D Las Vegas en DLVEC, wordt gepromoot door Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boksen Promotions.
Brock versus Chuy has been a fight in the making for years and now the dream is a reality,” zei Keith Veltre, CEO / Medeoprichter van Roy Jones Jr. Boksen Promotions. “As Brock defends his title, Chuy will fight to the end to regain the title that he let lapse. This fight promises to be an all-out war and the winner will move into a national spotlight. Thanks to the ‘Knock out Night at the D’ serie, Derek Stevenson is giving Las Vegas prospects an opportunity to make a national presence.
Brock (11-3-1, 4 KO) will defend his USNBC title against former USNBC lightweight champ Gutierrez (14-0-1, 4 KO), who never lost his belt in the ring, which has set the stage for this Las Vegas showdown to determine who the USNBC belt truly belongs to. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact both fighters train in Las Vegas and have growing fan-bases.
The 35-year-old Brock, who fights out of Kenner, Louisiana, learned to box in the Louisiana State Penitentiary, while serving his 14 ½-year sentence there for armed robbery. In prison, he won 39 van 40 fights with 17 knock-outs, eventually finishing his amateur career with an outstanding 54-3 record.
Last November in El Paso, Texas, the RJJ-promoted Brock upset 9-1-1 Oscar Valenzuela, capturing the vacant WBC United States (USNBC) lightweight title by way of a unanimous 8-round decision.
Gutierrez is from Sinaloa, Mexico, the home of Hall-of-Famer Julio Cesar Chavez among many other top fighters born there. A love of baseball kept Gutierrez occupied, totdat, as he says, “boxing found me.Gutierrez was attending college at South Nevada and working, still dreaming of becoming a major league baseball player, when he walked into the famed Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Boxing gym at the age of 21.
Bitten by the boxing bug, Gutierrez turned pro in in 2010 and he’s rapidly developed into a fan-friendly fighter, largely due to his aggressive, entertaining style. In 2014, Gutierrez won an 8-round majority decision over Rashad Ganaway(14-4-1) for the vacant USNBC lightweight crown.
The unbeaten Gutierrez wants his belt back and he’s determined to take it from Brock, die, natuurlijk, believes otherwise. They will settle the score Juni 10th in the 10-round main event that promises fireworks.

LAS VEGAS (Mei 21, 2016) – Determined Phoenix middleweight Andrew “Orkaan” Hernandez shocked heavy favorite Arif “The Pedator” Magomedov in tonight’s main event on the “Knockout Night at the D” kaart, which aired live on CBS Sports Network from under the neon lights at the Centrum van Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) buiten locatie.
De “Knockout Night at the D” serie, gepresenteerd door het D Las Vegasen DLVEC, wordt bevorderd door Roy Jones Jr. (RJJ) Boksen Promotions. Tonight’s event was promoted in association with Main Events and Shamo Boxing Promotions.
Before a sold-out crowd, Hernandez (12-4-1, 4 KO) pounded world-rated middleweight Magomedov (17-1, 10 KO), winning a unanimous 10-round decision (100-89 tweemaal, 98-91) for the vacant USNBC middleweight title. Hernandez hurt Magomedov in the third and seventh rounds, finally dropping the tough Russian (WBA #2, WB) #3, WBA #5 en IBF #14) in de 10th.
This fight changes everything for me,” Hernandez proclaimed. “He’s very good and deserves all of the accolades he’s received but I now have my head on straight and I’m focused. My jab was very important tonight. He’s very strong but I wanted to fight him inside because I knew he couldn’t take it from me. Ik was zeer bereid. I think I may have broken my ankle in the fourth round but I kept going. I wanted to finish him, get the knockout, but he’s a very tough fighter. He has heart and showed why he has all of those accolades.
Four weeks ago, Hernandez was preparing to fight as a cruiserweight. He lost 40 pounds to make weight for this middleweight fight in what turned out to be one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Southpaw super welterweights John “The Phenom” Vera (14-0, 9 KO), of Fort Worth, and PhoenixJoey “Bokser” Ruelas (10-2-1, 4 KO) went toe-to-toe from the opening bell and they never let up in the co-feature. Vera exploded in the round of this firestorm, battering the game Ruelas around, until referee Jay Nady halted the action in the sixth round. Vera remained undefeated and retained his NABA-USA title.
I knew eventually he’d put his hands down and I’d catch him,” Vera explained. “I thank him for the opportunity to fight. He’s helluva fighter, I give him that, but I know I’m a warrior. I took some shots but gave ’em, ook. I broke him down and just kept throwing those lefts.
(L-R) – John Vera & Joey Ruelas

Nady stopped the fight without counting when a badly hurt Vargas (4-1, 3 KO) hit the deck hard.
I happy that I put on a good performance for my fans,” Haney commented after the fight. “My team put together the strategy to use my jab and breakdown his body. I picked up my combinations did what I was told to do.

Two mores seconds and I would have finished him off in the first,” Lopez remarked. “My corner told me that, after the lefts, come back with a right. They gave me the game plan and I executed.

In de opening aanval, Las Vegas favorite Jeremy J-FlashNichols (4-0, 2 KO) dominated Puerto Rican welterweight Juli “El Indio” Santos (2-3, 1 KO) on his way to a win by unanimous 4-round decision.
