FLINT, MY. (November 18, 2017) – Tidligere verdensmester Anthony Dirrell (31-1-1, 24 KOS) had a successful return to the ring in his hometown as he won a technical decision over Denis Douglin (19-6, 12 KOS) in the main event of a special Friday night edition of Premier Boxing Champions TOE-til-tå tirsdage på FS1 og Boksning Champions on FOX Deportes from Dort Federal Credit Union Center in Flint, Michigan.

“I wanted to pressure him and test myself,” Said Dirrell. “He was wearing down and then the head butt came. I told the doctor that my vision was blurry and he decided not to let me continue.”

The fight was stopped in the sixth round after an accidental clash of heads left Dirrell’s left eye badly cut. The ringside physician deemed Dirrell unable to continue and the fight went to the scorecards where Dirrell won a technical decision by scores of 49-46 og 48-47 to gange.

Fighting in his hometown for the first time since 2011, Dirrell came out fast and appeared to have Douglin in trouble in round one with a flurry of hooks. Douglin was able to survive the round and had successful moments landing left hooks to Dirrell’s head.

Douglin was aggressive throughout but was unable to stop Dirrell from mounting his own offensive surges. Dirrell scored to the body often and was able to work through any difficult moments.

“I was going for the knockout,” Said Dirrell. “I wanted to get him out of there. I was getting hit and I got frustrated occasionally. I need to stick to the game plan a little better and make sure I’m doing what I want to do in the ring.”

Dirrell and Douglin continued to trade blows until the decisive clash of heads that led to a premature end of the fight and Dirrell taking home the decision victory.

“I’m right there with anyone in this division,” Said Dirrell. “I was getting ready for a title fight and I hurt my back but I’m ready now. I want to face anyone with a belt or whoever will step up to the challenge.”

I co-main event, unbeaten welterweight prospect Jamontay Clark (13-0, 7 KOS) boxed his way to a majority decision victory over Domonique Dolton (19-2-1, 10 KOS) in their eight round bout.

Clark used his significant reach advantage and pumped his jab early and often, establishing it in the first round and adding different combinations off of it throughout the contest. Dolton attempted to close down the distance but was unable to land anything that deterred Clark.

A clash of heads midway through the fourth round opened up a cut over Clark’s right eye and appeared to temporarily re-energize Dolton, who tried to take advantage of the wound. Clark showed toughness in never letting the cut slow him down as he stuck to the game plan and boxed effectively down the stretch.

Dolton stalked him throughout the final frames and landed occasionally but it was not enough as Clark took home the decision by scores of 78-74, 77-75 og 76-76.

The opening bout of the telecast saw Ryan Karl (15-1, 9 KOS) earn a unanimous decision victory over Kareem Martin (9-2-1, 3 KOS) in an eight round battle of junior welterweight prospects.

Martin had success early walking Karl down and landed a powerful looping right hand combined with a left hook midway through the first round that staggered his opponent. Karl set the tone for the fight and shook off the attack and continued to come forward in an exciting opening frame.

Karl increased his work rate after the first two rounds, consistently using the jab and throwing right hands mixed in with body shots. Martin stayed in the pocket throughout but was too easy to hit as Karl got the better of much of the action in the middle of the ring.

In the final round, Karl seemed to have more left in the tank as he buzzed Martin with a right hand that slowed his opponent and helped him on his way to a unanimous decision by scores of 78-74 to gange og 77-75.

Vargas (27-2, 10 KOS) is returning to the ring for the first time i 13 månederafter dropping a 12-round decision in a welterweight title defense against Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 5, 2016. The 28-year-old Vargas, who was born in Los Angeles and now lives in Las Vegas, won the welterweight title with a technical knockout victory over Sadam Ali on March 5, 2016. His only other loss came against former welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and he owns victories over the likes of Antonio DeMarco, Josesito Lopez, Aron Martinez and Wale Omotoso.

“Every fighter is dangerous and if I give Herrera the chance, he’ll knock my head off,” Said Vargas. “But I come into every fight with bad intentions and I’m in a position where I know exactly what it takes to get where I want to go. I have a lot of opportunities ahead of me, but first, I have to show the fans that I’m back and look exciting while doing that. Herrera is going to give me his best, but I feel that I have the speed, the experience and the game plan to overcome anything he brings to the table.”

Herrera (33-7-1, 22 KOS) has already fought four times in 2017 including his most recent outing, a stoppage of Israel Toala in July. The 28-year-old from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico lost to Brandon Rios via knockout on Juni 11 in a FS1 and FOX Deportes main event at Pioneer Events Center, where he will face Vargas.

“I’m going against a really good fighter, but he doesn’t punch very hard,” Said Herrera. “I will go bombs away from the first round. He can’t hurt me. I’m confident I will win this fight. James (21-1, 9 KOS) is on the comeback trail after suffering the first loss of his career to Yordenis Ugas via unanimous decision on Aug. 12, 2016. The 29-year-old James of Minneapolis, Minnesota bounced back from that loss with a unanimous decision victory over Jo Jo Dan on Juli 15. James has fought on FS1 and FOX Deportes his last four times in the ring and has recorded three wins in that stretch. Chaves represents a major challenge for James in his attempt to climb the welterweight ladder as he looks to add another name to his list of victories that includes Wale Omotoso, Javier Molina and Juan Carlo Abreu.

RedK (20-3-1, 16 KOS) and Molina (29-7, 23 KOS) are both coming off losses and will look to go through each other to regain top contender status. The 31-year-old Redkach, who was born in Ukraine and now lives in Los Angeles, is coming off a split decision loss in a FS1 and FOX Deportes main event to Argenis Mendez in his last fight on Maj 2. Molina, 34, had one of the best performance of his career in June 2016 when he defeated Ruslan Provodnikov by unanimous decision. The Covina, Calif. native earned a shot at Terrence Crawford in December that saw him lose by TKO in the eighth round.

A win over Najera and a 6th straight win will De Alba should facilitate big opportunities for De Alba in 2018.

“A win over him will have me on top and on my way. It will set me up for a big opportunity in 2018. Hopefully a win will get me a shot at one of those major regional titles and then eventually a world title. I just hope everyone comes out and support this show tirsdag. Everyone knows when a Puerto Rican fighter and a Mexican fighter get together, the fight usually produces fireworks and Tuesday night should be no different.”

Lightweight Prospect Thomas Mattice stops Orlando Rizo in 7

Nutley, NJ (November 17, 2017)–Denne sidste Lørdag nat, lightweight prospect Thomas Mattice remained undefeated by stopping grizzled veteran Orlando Rizo in round seven of their scheduled eight-round bout at the Atrium Arena in Stone Mountain, Georgien.

Mattice is promoted by GH3 Promotions.

Mattice of Cleveland, Ohio improved his mark to 10-0 med otte knockouts.

Den 27 year-old Mattice took out a veteran who has been in the ring with several world champions and contenders.

“Jeg har det godt. He was a tough veteran, but I caught him with some good shots, and as veterans do, he kept on coming, but I kept on landing and eventually got him out of their,”said Mattice.

Mattice is developing into a young veteran, as he went in there with a good idea of what he wanted to do.

“I learned a lot in that fight. I took my time, and worked off the jab. I picked my shots and was not in a rush. I started to work the body and eventually broke him.”

Even though there is only six weeks left in the year, Mattice would not mind getting in another fight before the calendar changes to 2018.

“I may try to sneak one more in before the end of the year. Hvis ikke, I will be back in there in January or early February. 2018 is going to be a big year for. I can see myself being ranked across the board by this time next year as I want to go from a prospect to a contender. This was a great fight for me, but expect to see me in bigger fights in 2018.”

His promoter Vito Mielncki of GH3 Promotions is on the same page as the three-year veteran, Mattice.

“That was a quality win over Rizo. Rizo is a guy who is a veteran who has faced everybody. That is 4 straight knockouts for Thomas and now he is coming into his power. He is really developing and I can see some great things for him as we look towards 2018.”

Atlantic City, NJ (November 15, 2017)–Super Bantamweight contender Adam Lopez is looking to getting back to the perch of being on a short list to fight for a world title.

Back on January 20th, Lopez was right there when he took on Daniel Roman in what was a WBA title elimination bout in Atlantic City.

EDMONTON, Canada (November 15, 2017) – Double-barrelled boxing action is on tap this week for Canadian boxing fans when Super Channel airs back-to-back Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) begivenheder denne fredag night and Lørdag aften, live from separate venues in the United States.

“Douglin has fought a lot of good fighters and I respect him, but he’s standing in the way of my title shot,” Dirrell said. “This is a chance for me to showcase my skills. I’m going for a stoppage, and I think I’m going to get it in the middle rounds. I want to put on a great performance and give the fans something to see. I’m going to get the job done.”

“I’ve taken a lot of fights on short notice and that’s hurt me in the past, but I’ve had ample time and a great training camp to prepare for this fight,” Douglin commented. “I think Dirrell has a problem with guys who aren’t afraid of him and who will actually give him a fight. With my style and determination, I’m going to bring a lot more than he’s expecting. I’m going to bring it for 10 rounds and I know I’ll have my arm raised at the end of the day.”

Two exciting matches are on the “Dirrell vs. Douglin” kort, presented by Salita Promotions and TGB Promotion, will air in Canada exclusively on Super Channel.

The eight-round co-featured event is a rematch between two talented welterweight prospects,Jamontay “The Quiet” Clark (12-0, 7 KOS), Cincinnati, og ukrainsk John “The Volk” Golub (13-1, 11 KOS), now fighting out of Brooklyn (NY). I 10-round co-feature, veteran light heavyweight Lionell Thompson (18-4, 11 KOS) takes on unbeaten prospect Earl Newman (10-0-1, 7 KOS).

Thompson is on the trail of a 175-pound world championship and he hasn’t taken the easy road, having challenged the likes of Sergey Kovalev og Radivoje Kalajdzic during his pro career. The 32-year-old out of Buffalo, N.Y.. is coming off a knockout victory over Steve Lovett in his last fight Februar 24. The last time he fought at the Cosmopolitan, he defeated Donovan George by unanimous decision on Sept. 16, 2016.

Newman will be taking a big step forward in taking on his toughest competition to date in Thompson. The 26-year-old Brooklyn-native is coming off a split draw against Paul Parker påSyv. 19 after winning his first 10 pro slagsmål.

Because a large crowd is expected, only Ring 8 members will be allowed to attend this meeting, but membership may be obtained at the door for those interested in joining Ring 8.

“Evander Holyfield is one of the few living legends in our sport,” Ring 8 præsident Jack Hirsch sagde. “Så, you can imagine how thrilled we are to have him as a guest speaker. We had planned to present Holyfield with the Ring 8 Legends Award at our holiday banquet, but a lucrative business opportunity will prohibit him from being there that afternoon. I stedet, we will present him with that award at O’Neil’s. It says a lot about Evander that he adjusted his schedule to remain in New York to attend our meeting.

“Luis Collazo is a terrific fighter in his own right, having been a former world champion. His career seems to be on an upswing once again and we are anxious to hear about his future plans.”

Holyfield has retired as a boxer with an outstanding 44-10-2 (29 KOS), but this past year he has operated a New York City-based promotional company, Real Deal Boxing. A U.S. Olympian, Holyfield is the only unified world cruiserweight champion, as well as a four-time heavyweight champion of the world.

He had a 16-7-2 record in world title fights and won 19 af 30 fights with two draws against past or present world champions, defeating a Who’s Who list of all-time greats such as Dwight Muhammad Qawi, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Riddick Bowe og Mike Tyson (to gange), blandt flere notabiliteter.

Atlantic City, NJ (November 14, 2017)–The stakes have grown for the exciting co-feature bout between Raymond Serrano og ubesejret Enver Halili at the Claridge Hotel in Atlantic City.

Serrano of Philadelphia has been training at the famed Wildcard Gym, and has had a terrific camp.

“Camp has been very good, I am just dropping the last couple pounds. I have been sparring with Miguel Cotto and some of the top MMA fighters as well. I have one of the top trainer’s in the gym Ernie Zavala working my corner,” Said Serrano.

Serrano has trained in Philadelphia and Puerto Rico all over the world and has noticed a difference working out at one of the most famous gyms world.

“The difference in training at Wild Card is that there are so many good fighters there and everywhere you look there is a top level fighter who si working hard.”

In Halili he knows he is in with a fighter who is coming to win and bring the best out of Serrano.

“I really don’t know too much about him. I saw some old footage of him, and I can see that he is a boxer. He is undefeated, so he is coming to win and that should make for a good fight.”

It was five years ago when Serrano was a prize prospect with an 18-0 rekord, and he was on the brink of major fights, before a stretch where Serrano was able to go just 5-4, yet Serrano believes that he is just a win or two away from a major fight.

“I feel like with a win, I am just a phone call away from a big fight. Even thought I am not ranked, I know I can compete with the big names of the division. This win should get me the belt and also the rankings. I just want to continue to climb the ladder. People forget that I am just 28 years-old and I am in my prime. Little by little with my manager Mark Cipparone. I just want to let everyone know that this Saturday, November 18th there will be a new WBC Fecarbox champion, and that will be me, Raymond “Tito” Serrano.”
