BELFAST (Kolovoz 14, 2018) – Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and former two-time heavyweight title challenger Francesco Pianeta faced off on Tuesday in Belfast during the final press conference for their 10-round heavyweight bout this Saturday from Windsor Park. The second comeback fight of the former unified champion will stream live exclusively to U.S. audiences on the SHOWTIME Boxing Facebook page and SHOWTIME Sports YouTube channel beginning at 3:30 poslije podne. Fury vs. Pianeta will serve as the chief support of Carl Frampton’s interim featherweight title defense against undefeated contender Luke Jackson on the pitch at Windsor Park, where an expected 30,000 fans will witness the first boxing event at the home of Northern Irish football.

The former IBF, WBA and WBO champion Fury (26-0, 19 Kos) returned to the ring in June and will fight for the second time in less than 75 days following a nearly three-year layoff. Prior to his extended hiatus, the 6-foot-9 Fury established himself as the premier heavyweight boxer in the world by becoming the first man to defeat Wladimir Klitschko in more than 11 godina.

 

 

 

Pianeta (35-4-1, 21 Kos), a 6-foot-5 southpaw who fights out of Germany, has twice challenged for the heavyweight world title. Pianeta faced then-unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2013 and lost in a bid for a secondary title against Ruslan Chagaev in 2015.

“In heavyweight boxing, if you take your eye off the goal for ten seconds you’re out of there. “Southpaws are a lot more awkward because there’s less of them in the division. You don’t get too much work with southpaws other than when you’re fighting with them. It’s hard to get southpaws to spar in training because there aren’t many heavyweight southpaws around the world. But I do have one interesting fact, every southpaw amateur or professional I’ve ever faced I’ve knocked out. That’s not good for Francesco.

 

 

 

“To be a two-time heavyweight champion is all right. It’s not great because there’s been plenty. To be a three-time heavyweight champion, it’s been done before. So I think I want to set a precedent of being a five-time heavyweight champion without losing a fight. That’s my goal. I always aim for the stars and set big targets.

 

 

 

“If I can beat Francesco Pianeta on Saturday night, I’ve beaten another boxer. Big deal. But if he beats me, he’s going on to something very big. It would be life-changing for him. It I can’t beat Francesco, then I’m going nowhere.

 

 

 

“I think I’m the greatest heavyweight that’s ever been born, so I should handle Francesco Pianeta. And whoever else is out there, Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, all the bums out there.

The southpaw from Salinas, Kalif. battles well tested veteran Jose Santos Gonzalez (23-6, 13 Kos) of Mexico in the “Locked n’ Loaded” 8-round main event.

 

 

 

Vila, 21, has fought veterans before, specifically Ernesto Guerrero and German Meraz. The seasoned Gonzalez poses a threat in the sense that he’s been in the ring against current bantamweight title holder Zolani Tete, and unbeaten contender Duke Micah.

 

 

 

“These are the types of fights that help you grow into a better fighter,” said Villa, who is managed by Danny Zamora. “We have a smart game plan in place. I’m naturally bigger than him so we’ll use that to our advantage.”

 

 

 

Vila, a two-time national Golden Gloves champion, is coming off an impressive sixth round knockout of Ricardo Lopez in June. The talented featherweight showed off his finishing ability by out boxing Lopez until the knockout moment presented itself.

 

 

 

“I was landing solid punches in every round,” remarked Villa after the fight. “I knew I would be able to take him out. I wore him down and in the sixth, I just let me hands go and I caught him with a lot of heavy punches.”

The reigning WBO Oriental featherweight champion, Jackson (16-0, 7 Kos) represented his native Australia in the 2012 Olimpijske igre. The upset-minded Jackson believes Frampton is finished.

The reigning WBO Intercontinental flyweight champion, Barnes (5-0, 1 KO) will also be fighting at home in Belfast in front of his passionate fan base. One of the greatest Irish amateur boxers of all time, Barnes will be fighting for a world title in only his sixth professional fight. He won two bronze medals (2008 & 2012) in his three trips to the Olympics, as well as gold in the 2019 European Championships.

 

 

 

“This is the fight that defines my boxing career,” Barnes claimed. “There were great achievements as an amateur including Olympic bronze medals, but that is only third place in the world, što je super. Uncasville, Conn. (Kolovoz 13, 2018) – The Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame (CBHOF) has announced its six-member Class of 2018 to be inducted during the 14TH annual CBHOF Gala Induction Dinner on Saturday night, Listopad 13, u Unkas dvorani na Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

The new CBHOF inductees are boxers Cocoa Kid a Angel Vazquez, judge Don Trella, and trainers John Harris, Bill Gore a Brian Clark.

Cocoa Kid (56-20-2, 48 Kos) came to prominence in 1933, when as an 18-year-old he registered a shocking upset of former world featherweight champion Louis “Dijete” Kaplan, who was inducted into the CBHOF charter class in 2005. A resident of Noank, Trella is highly regarded as one of boxing’s best judges. Garcia dictated the action, but the judges did not see it that way as two of the voters saw the fight even at 76-76 and a 3rd judge had it 79-73 for Garcia.

Garcia, 140.7 lbs of Dominican Republic is 14-3-1. Crawley, Jr., 138.5 lbs of Philadelphia, PA 7-1-1.

Eric Moon won an eight-round unanimous decision over Christopher Brooker in a super middleweight bout.

Moon used quick combination that scored well over the second half of the fight that swelled the left eye of Brooker.

Moon, 167.9 lbs of Marieta, GA won by scores of 78-74 a 77-75 twice to raise his record to 8-1. Brooker, 169 lbs of Philadelphia is now 13-6.

Poindexter vitez remained undefeated by winning a six-round unanimous decision over Gregory Averil Young in a welterweight bout.
Knight was in control of the bout and then in round five with a powerful right hook. Knight landed several more hard shots, but was unable to finish him,.

Vitez, 149.9 lbs of Philadelphia won on all cards by 60-53 tali, i sada 5-0. Mladi, 147.4 lbs of Hoover, AL is 4-1.

Joshafat Ortiz stopped Javier Oquendo in round three of their scheduled six-round super featherweight bout featuring undefeated fighters.

Rasheed Johnson won a six-round unanimous decision over Tony Morris in a welterweight bout.

Morris was cut badly over his left eye in round three from a clash of heads, while Johnson was also cut but not as much.

NEW YORK (Kolovoz 10, 2018)–Undefeated Junior Middleweight prospect, Fred Wilson, Jr. (6-0, 2 Kos) returns to action when he takes on James Robinson in a six-round bout at The Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh.

 

The 23 year-old Wilson will be making his 1st start of the year, and the Cleveland native is taking on the 20 fight-veteran in Robinson. This will be the 8th undefeated opponent that Robinson has faced.

Rakhimov of Ekaterinburg, Russia will be fighting in front of his hometown fans.

The 23-year-old Rakhimov is a three-year professional who already has great victories over Visita Gairabekov (1-0), Mirzhan Zhaxylykov (9-0), Rogelio Jun Doliguez (21-3-2), Jimmy Paypa (19-3-1), and Emanuel Lopez (27-6-1). In his last bout he won the IBO Super Featherweight title with an 8th round stoppage over former world champion Malcolm Klassen on February 10th.

Castellanos of Celaya, Mexico has a deceiving record of 24-13 s 14 miševa.

The 36-year-old Castellanos is a 16-year professional, who started out slowly by only going 7-9 in his first 16 krajevi. The 22-year-old has most recently campaigned at welterweight, where she held the Argentina 147-pound title, and will be moving back down in weight for her third shot at a world title. reynoso, who will make her U.S. debut on September 8, has recorded all eight of her knockouts inside of five rounds.
