COLORADO SPRINGS, Tour. En 1964, 16-ans Valdez bouleversé médaillé de bronze olympique Quincey Daniels au Championnat national AUA dans la division poids welter, et plus tard cette année-là, il qualitied pour l'U.S. L'équipe olympique en tant que suppléant. “Je voulais être un meilleur boxeur et que (Daniels encontre du but) m'a aussi aidé à devenir une meilleure personne. Je ne l'avais jamais voyagé à l'extérieur du Texas avant cette date. Je suis allé aux championnats régionaux et nationaux, puis on m'a demandé si je voulais aller en Afrique orientale. Tout ce que je savais sur l'Afrique était Tarzan, Jane et Cheetah. À l'école secondaire, On m'a offert des bourses d'études, mais mes notes étaient mauvaises parce que je passais plus de temps que dans l'école. Je n'ai pas eu une figure paternelle.”

 

 

 

Alors qu'il a servi dans l'U.S. Air Force, Valdez a remporté une médaille d'or au 1970 Championnat National AUA comme un poids moyen de lumière et deux ans plus tard, il est devenu le 1972 champion poids welter National Golden Gloves. Une autre équipe olympique Etats-Unis pour la deuxième fois 1968, la troisième fois était le charme de Valdez, qui se sont qualifiés pour la 1972 U.S.. “Mon rêve est devenu réalité en 1964,” Valdez a noté. “J'étais autre équipe olympique Etats-Unis en 1964 et encore en 1968. Mais en 1972, Je voulais gagner une médaille d'or, même si je me suis retrouvé avec le bronze.”

 

 

 

Valdez est devenu un nom familier en Amérique parce que son combat olympique à Munich, Allemagne, a été diffusé en direct sur ABC Wide World of Sports, le samedi après-midi spectacle primé au cours des années soixante-dix, quand légendaire annonceur Howard Cosell a pris un éclat à Valdez. “Je suis capitaine de l'équipe et tous les chefs de tous les sports demandait ce que les athlètes voulaient faire, Continuez (concurrence) ou rentrer à la maison. Nous avons décidé de continuer parce que, si nous avions arrêté, c'est ce qu'ils (les terroristes) voulait. The Olympics were halted one day for a memorial recognizing those who had died.”

 

 

TEAM USA vs. TEAM GERMANY, Octobre. 6 & 12 in CHATTANOOGA

 

 

 

Team USA and Team Germany, two of the world’s top amateur boxing programs, will meet in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for two separate duels taking place Saturday, Octobre 6 and Friday, Octobre. 12, at the Chattanooga Convention Center.

 

 

 

The duels will feature some of the top male and female elite boxers as they prepare for the lead up to the Olympics in 2020. The two events will take place alongside this year’s Eastern Elite Qualifier & Regional Open Championships, which is expected to have more than 650 boxeurs, vieilli 8-40, compete from Oct. 8-13.

 

 

 

 

After the 1972 Jeux olympiques, promoters lined-up to offer Valdez a pro contract, but he quickly turned down all offers having other options as well. He could have remained in the Air Force and been a coach. “Quand j'étais 14 ou 15 il y avait une formation de pros au gymnase, je suis allé à l'école après,” Valdez a expliqué, “Il y avait un boxeur professionnel, il m'a beaucoup plu et leva les yeux. Il était un champion du monde, qui nommerai, et je l'ai vu travailler sur. Je n'oublierai jamais, il m'a demandé s'il pouvait emprunter $1.00. Je ne même pas de nickel et qui a vraiment ouvert les yeux. Voici un champion du monde me demander de l'argent. Il coincé dans mon esprit. Je pris un emploi en tant que journaliste parce que je avais vraiment besoin (médical) avantages.

 

 

 

“J'essaie d'aller aux clubs et aux amateurs d'aide, mais je ne regarde pas les combats pro.”

Ontario, Californie. (Sept. 30) – In a marathon night of fights, Southern California fans were treated to performances in a variety of weight classes headlined by Brandon Figueroa (17-0-0, 12 KOs) de Weslaco, TX against Columbian Oscar Escandon (25-5-0, 17 KOs) in an action-packed 10-round super bantamweight bout that ended with a knockout by the young prospect Figueroa in the final round live on FS1 and FOX Deportes from Citizens Business Bank Arena.

 

 

 

Both Figueroa and Escandon picked up the pace early as they went toe-to-toe battling in an entertaining fight from the first bell. Figueroa, who typically fights at a distance, wanted to make a statement that he isn’t afraid to fight on the inside. An accidental head butt caused a large cut over the left eye of Figueroa, as blood poured the remainder of the fight. The combatants continued to throw high volumes of punches throughout the bout, but Figueroa remained more accurate and active as Escandon did his best to stay strong. In the tenth and final round, Figueroa sealed the win with a powerful combination that ended in a right upper cut to Escandon’s chin, sending him to the canvas rendering him unable to stand at minute 1:42.

 

 

 

“Escandon is tough. He is short and it was hard to get to the body,” a déclaré Figueroa. “I can fight both inside and outside, but his size did matter. I had to get in there and he wasn’t backing up. I was ready for this fight. Opportunities like this don’t come often so I had to take it and run with it. I have been training all summer and I am ready to take a few days off and get right back to it.”

 

 

 

“I knew Figueroa was good, but I was surprised at how tough he was,” said Escandon. “Everyone can get caught with a punch. I wasn’t tired. Je viens de me attrapé. I am okay. I am going to keep going.”

 

 

 

The co-main event saw British Silver Medalist Joe Joyce (6-0, 6 KOs) make his U.S. debut in a heavyweight fight domnation against Iago Kiladze (26-4-0, 18 KOs) de la Géorgie. “It is great to be here,” a déclaré Joyce. “I started training in the United States because it was the best way to start my career here,” a déclaré Joyce. “It is great to have my sixth win here and I look forward to getting in the ring again soon. I think I made a great impression here tonight and I just want to continue that streak.”

 

 

 

Also featured on the card was fast-rising star Joey Spencer (5-0, 5 KOs) of Union City, Californie. Against Cory Macon (0-3-0) of Durham, NC in a four-round middleweight bout. The 18-year-old Spencer, with dreams to become the youngest American with a world title, went to work immediately, going to the body of Macon. He continued to attack the body, but with a hard left hook, he sent Macon to the canvas, ending the fight just inside round number one at minute 2:36.

 

 

 

“I stay active and stay in the gym. It keeps me focused and ready,” dit Spencer. “My goal is to become a world champion by age 20. Fans need to keep an eye on me and my career because I am here to stay.”

Fulton, who took this fight with 72 heures’ avis, used his jab throughout the and dominated every round. In the first minute of the eighth and final round, Fulton knocked Meraz down, setting up the win. À la fin, the judges ruled the bout a unanimous decision.

 

 

 

“I wasn’t worried about taking the fight on such short notice,” said Fulton. “I knew I was going to dominate. I might have prepared for someone else, but that didn’t matter. I have the experience to be able to adjust. He could have had 100 fights or five fights and I would have bene ready. I want Brandon Figueroa next.”

British light heavyweight Kody Davies (7-0-0, 6 KOs) defeated Jerhed Fenderson (4-7-0, 2 KOs) of Las Vegas via unanimous decision.

 

 

 

In his professional debut, Oscar Juarez of Brownsville TX, defeated Matt Gaver (0-2-0) de Bakersfield, Californie. via unanimous decision in a six-round super lightweight bout.

New York (Septembre 28, 2018) – Two undefeated fighters from Felipe Gomez’s El Matador Management will be on display on Saturday night at The King’s Theatre in Brooklyn, New York.

 

 

 

Super Welterweight Mathew Gonzalez (6-0, 4 KOs) will take on Jordan Morales (3-4, 1 KO) dans un combat de quatre rondes, while super welterweight Justin Biggs (4-0, 4 KOs) will take on Noe Lozano (2-3) in a six-round tilt.

“The most important thing is to win. I don’t go in there looking for a knockdown, but I feel I will eventually get him out of there by breaking my opponents down. It is important to get knockouts because that is what people pay to see.”

 

 

 

Four fights into his career, Biggs continues to see himself evolve as a fighter.

 

 

 

“I see myself from old fights in the amateurs, and I see that I am more disciplined. I am more defensively responsible, and I am moving more fluidly. I feel that I am efficient and exciting. I am happy with my progress.”

 

 

 

Biggs, 26 years-old has a very ambitious schedule, and within a year, he sees himself as a legitimate contender.

 

 

 

“In the next year, I would like to be 14 ou 15 et 0. Maybe even higher. I feel good that more that I fight, the more that I learn. I want to be fighters on the networks and being called a future world champion. Samedi, i will do my best, and hope people will be inspired by watching me fight.”

The 22-year-old Dallas-native looks for his third victory of the year when he goes up against 25-year-old Francisco Camacho (7-8-1, 3 KOs) out of Tamaulipas, Mexique.

 

 

 

Representing his native Wales in the United Kingdom, Davies (7-0, 3 KOs) has been busy in 2018, racking up five wins including his first six-round victory. The 24-year-old will make his U.S. debut on Sunday as he faces the 31-year-old Rankin (12-5-2, 9 KOs) who fights out of Charlotte, Caroline du Nord.

After winning bronze at the 2008 Jeux Olympiques, Wilder knocked out his first 32 professional opponents inside of four rounds to earn a shot at WBC Heavyweight Champion Bermane Stiverne on Jan. 17, 2015. le Tuscaloosa, Ala., native defeated Stiverne via near-shutout decision, going the distance for the first time in his career to become America’s first heavyweight world champion since Shannon Briggs in 2007.

 

 

 

As WBC champion, Wilder has knocked out all seven of his world title challengers, including a devastating first-round knockout of Stiverne in a 2017 rematch. Subsequent battles with drugs, mental health and weight gain, along with a failure to face his mandatory challengers, cost Fury his belts and led to a nearly three-year hiatus from the sport.

 

 

 

Fury was triumphant in his long-awaited return on June 9 against Sefer Seferi, leading to a second comeback fight less than 75 days later against former world title challenger Francesco Pianeta. Weighing within 11 pounds of his fighting weight when he dethroned Klitschko, Fury displayed prime movement, hand speed and footwork in a shutout decision to earn the opportunity to become a two-time heavyweight world champion on December 1.

Retour en Avril de cette année Emily Pugh a fait ses débuts professionnels, et le garçon oh boy qu'elle a fait dans le style. Emily et son adversaire Jelizaveta Cerkasova, qui a également fait ses débuts pro, mettre sur une classe de maître.
