Erik Ruiz celebrates his upset victory

Ruiz (16-5-1, 6 KOs) replaced Emmanuel Quartey, who was unable to secure a visa, and he was rewarded with a 10-round majority decision victory over fellow Mexican fighter Hanzel Martinez (23-3, 19 KOs) um die vakante World Boxing Association (WBA) International super bantamweight title.

“El Trumpo,” fighting out of Oxnard, Kalifornien, put on a clinic, avoiding the lunging Martinez, who was frustrated throughout the fight by Ruiz’ slickness. Martiniz lunged, Ruiz countered and then he slightly moved to the side, avoiding any potential. Defensively, Ruiz was far superior, keeping Martinez off balance through out the majority of rounds.

Former Fighting Cab Driver David Emanuel Peralta Moving to Miami to Train with Herman Caicedo

The world’s most unexpected top contender, red-hot welterweight David Emanuel Peralta, has left his cab-driving job behind in his native Argentina and will now be training with well-known coach Herman Caicedo at Caicedo Sports Training Center in Miami, Florida.
Peralta (26-2-1, 14 KOs), who won a clear but surprising split-decision victory over multi-division world champion Robert Guerrero in August, will now find himself preparing for his upcoming fight in December beside several world-class names including Interim WBA World Heavyweight Champion Luis “King Kong” Ortiz, former WBA Super Bantamweight Champion Juan Carlos Payano, Claudio Marrero, Yenifel Vicente, Ramon Luis and many more top professionals.
33-year-old Peralta says he can’t believe the path his life has now taken.

“I am honored to be coming to the United States to train with a great trainer like Herman Caicedo and beside so many great names in the sport. I will train harder than ever to stay in boxing as a top fighter. Thank you to my promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, and to Herman for helping me do this.”

Caicedo, who has also trained several past champions including Shannon Briggs, Zur Schule, Yuriorkis Gamboa and more, says Peralta is a welcome addition to his gym.
“I am excited to have David as part of the family of champions we are creating here at Caicedo Sports,” said Caicedo. “His win over Robert Guerrero has put him on the map, and I look forward to helping David get to the next level, the championship level.”
Promoter Lewkowicz, known for finding hidden gems in foreign boxing markets including Manny Pacquiao and Sergio “Wunder” Martinez among many others, says Peralta is on the prowl for his next victim.
“He will fight anyone,” sagte Lewkowicz. “Any champion or top contender can say the word and we will fight them. David has great sparring partners available and the time to properly prepare. He is very, very dangerous to anyone in the world. He’s going to prove that.”

Live Coverage To Be Available Oktober. 1Exclusively To U.S. Boxing Fans Starting At12:45 p.m. UND
Austin, TX (Sieben. 27, 2016) – FloSports today announced it has agreed to terms with MP & Silva, an international sports marketing agency, for the live media rights in the United States to the WBA Light Heavyweight title fight Oktober. 1 between Juergen Braehmer (48-2) and Nathan Cleverly (29-3). The fight in Hamburg, Deutschland, wird am Beginn 12:45 p.m. UND between Braehmer, the current title holder, and the former champion Cleverly. The event will stream on FloBoxing.tv.

“We are thrilled to cover this marquee matchup with so much at stake,” FloSports co-founder and CEO Martin Floreani said. “FloBoxing is committed to featuring the best boxing content in the world, and title fights like these help us achieve that goal and grow the sport.”

The main event will be the seventh defense of Braehmer’s WBA regular light heavyweight world title. It is the first title opportunity for Cleverly since being defeated for the WBO title by Sergey Kovalev in August of 2013. The promotion is presented by Team Sauerland.

The German-born Braehmer has won 17 consecutive fights since his last loss in 2008, while British-born Cleverly is coming off a “Kampf des Jahres” performance in a narrow defeat to Andrzej Fonfara in October 2015. The two fighters were originally scheduled to meet in 2011, but Braehmer was forced to withdraw after suffering a cut in sparring.

A win for either fighter would put them in the conversation for potential unification fights with either WBC champion Adonis Stevenson or the winner of November’s Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev matchup.

Live coverage of the Braehmer vs. Cleverly fight will follow the undercard fight between WBA Intercontinental Light Heavyweight champion Enrico Koelling (21-1) and contender Ryno Liebenberg (17-3).

After the conclusion of the card in Germany, FloBoxing will be live streaming an eight-fight card from Grand Casino in Hinckley, Von., that is headlined by a fight between two of America’s top cruiserweights in Atlanta’s Brian Howard (11-1) and Minneapolis’ Phil Williams (15-8-2).

Bantamgewicht Stephon Junge; Super Federgewicht Antonio Williams und leicht Logan Yoon join the GH3 Promotions stable and will be featured in events throughout the United States

Yoon was a major amateur sensation who competed in 90 amateur bouts and was a 8-time state champion in Hawaii, who captured The Jr. Olympic Bronze medal, Adidas National Champion, Title National Champion, Jr. Nationaler Champion der Goldenen Handschuhe, and Ringside National Champion.
He is Korean and Puerto Rican, who calls Hawaii home.
Because of his amateur prowess, he was given a special dispensation to turn professional at the age of 17. He did just that as he registered a first round stoppage over Leonardo Cervantes on September 9th in Jalisco, Mexiko.

Cruiserweight Howard Ready for ‘The Drill’ This Saturday Night in Minnesota

Promoter Greg Cohen says his Atlanta-based cruiserweight Brian “The Bigg Risk” Howard will have to be extremely careful when he fights in the main event an diesem Samstag Nacht (Oktober 1) im Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota.
Howard (11-1, 9 KOs) will face dangerous local veteran Phil “The Drill” Williams (15-8-2, 14 KOs) in a potentially dangerous eight-round showdown.
Williams, a devastating puncher, has run hot and cold his entire career, but can be spectacular at times. He holds the distinction of scoring the fastest knockout in boxing history (10 Sekunden) over Brandon Burke of Iowa in 2007. video
Able to switch hit from his southpaw stance to orthodox several times during a fight, Williams has also fought to draws with well-known veterans Caleb Truax and Derrick Findley. In his next to last fight, he won the Minnesota State Cruiserweight Championship by stopping then 15-1 Al Sands in one round.
The capable Howard, jedoch, took the undefeated record of Maryland-based Alex Guerrero (15-1) in his last fight and has trained hard for this interesting challenge.
“He’s ready for another ‘Bigg Risk’,” sagte Cohen. “Don’t forget, Brian can punch too. He has prepared for this dangerous challenge and should be ready, even if the best version of Phil Williams shows up am Samstag. Brian is a talented fighter and we have all confidence he will prevail.”

Also of note is the return of Delorien Caraway (6-0 5 KOs) von Minneapolis, MN, one of the top prospects nationally in the 140-pound weight class. Caraway just spent time helping boxing’s top star, Canelo Alvarez, prepare for his upcoming fight.
