SALEM NH- (Ottobre 19, 2016)- Combat Zone MMA, the longest running mixed martial arts promotion in New England and one the most successful in the Northeast, is relocating its exhilarating events stacked with professional and amateur MMA and kickboxing fights to Manchester, NH and returning to its roots, co-owners Calvin Kattar and Jamison Kattar announced today.

 

After calling the recently shuttered Rockingham Park in Salem, NH home for the past eight years, Combat Zone is coming to the Armory Room on-site at the Radisson Hotel in Downtown Manchester.

 

The Armory Room is an exceptional venue that is perfectly suited to host the fights and it can accommodate comfortably up to 800 combattere i fan. Finished with exposed brick throughout the room it’s a perfect fit for CZ Events!

 

The first event that will be at the Aromory Room at the Radisson will be Combat Zone 60 su Sabato, Novembre 19.

 

“I’m very excited about bringing the promotion back home to where it all first started at the Radisson. We feel the new location will allow us to make the necessary changes to appeal to a wider audience while continuing to provide action-packed fights for our loyal fan base,” said Calvin Kattar, who recently returned to action inside the cage and improved his record to 16-2 and his rank to #2 among pro featherweights in New England.

 

The Kattar brothers and matchmaker Ryan Fennelly are still putting the Combat Zone 60 card together, but fight fans can expect to be treated to the MMA Lightweight Amateur Title defense when challenger Gerald Meuse (4-1) from Boston tries to tale the belt from undefeated champion Dave Brown (3-0). Marrone, who hails from Laconia, NH, earned the belt in his last fight when he beat the previously unblemished Shawn Melanson.

 

What shapes up as another terrific and intense match-up on what will be a full card of action includes the pro kickboxing fight between Ray Shawdee, who coaches at New England Top Team in Windham, NH and hails rom Lowell, MA, and Maine’s always fearsome Crowsneck Boutin. This fight has potential title implications for the winner.

 

Other expected and competitive, tough fights are MMA pros Jay Perrin 2-2 vs. Chad Kelley 4-2 matching up at 135 lbs. and Salem’s Nick Fiore (1-0) vs. Taylor Costatino (2-2) competing as amateurs at catch weight of 150 lbs.

Hurd fights out of Accokeek, Md., just south of Washington, D.C. and is perfect since entering the pro ranks in 2012. The 26-year-old has faced three straight undefeated fighters including a sixth-round stoppage of Frank Galarza in 2015 and a 10th-round TKO over Oscar Molina in the co-main event of the Keith Thurman vs. Shawn Porter card in June. The exciting boxer-puncher will look to continue his climb to a world title on November 12.
Born in Romania, Dan fights out of Quebec, Canada and hopes to stay perfect in his U.S. uscite, having already won twice stateside. He owns two impressive victories over Canadian rival Kevin Bizier and challenged Kell Brook for his welterweight title last year. Ed Williams, Nephew of Former World Champion Duane Thomas, Will Appear on Salita Promotions’ ‘Detroit Brawl’

Come un bambino, watching his uncle, former WBC World Super Welterweight Champion Duane Thomas fight on TV, Detroit’s Ed Williams used to dream of becoming a boxer.
That’s where he and his mother disagreed.
“I always wanted to box,” laughs Williams, “but my mother wouldn’t let me fight until I was older. My uncle even came and tried to sneak me to the gym a few times, but my mom would never let me. She just wouldn’t let me train.”
When Williams turned 17, he was finally able to box and made the most of it, andando 57-9 as an amateur and winning two State Championships, the Ringside Nationals and two Detroit Golden Gloves before turning professional in 2007.
Williams won his first two fights before leaving boxing to obtain a B.Sc degree in Industrial Engineering at Eastern Michigan University. But after working in the field a few years, Williams felt the pull once again that he’d felt since childhood.
He wanted to be a boxer, full-time and give it a shot.

“My mom now says she wishes she would have let me do it sooner. But I understand. She didn’t want me to get hurt and was just being protective. Now she’s my biggest fan.”

Lee Baxter Promotions Card Postponed; McGuinness and Miljas to fight October 28

Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Ottobre 25, 2016) – Due to unforeseen circumstances, Lee Baxter Promotions’ card scheduled for Giovedi evening at the Powerade Center in Brampton, Ontario has been postponed until further notice.

Two of Baxter’s fighters scheduled to appear on that card, 130 pound contender Logan “Cotton” McGuinness and heavyweight prospect Mladen “Monster” Miljas, will now fight Ottobre 28 at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

A former NABA champion at 126, 130 e 135 libbre, McGuinness signed with Lee Baxter Promotions in July. McGuinness, 23-0-1 (10 KO), is fighting for the first since May 2015 and meets Noel Rincon, 18-9-1 (10 KO), of Mexico over eight rounds. With a victory, the 29-year-old Ontario native hopes to get back in the mix.

Known as “Monster” due to his crushing power and impressive physical stature, Miljas looks to go 2-0 as a pro when he challenges Mexican Adrian Garcia, 1-1 (1 KO), in a four rounder.

“”I’m glad I was able to keep Logan and Mladen fighting even after our card was postponed,” said Lee Baxter. “The card will be rescheduled in the near future but in the meantime it’s important to keep my fighters busy. Logan’s been very sharp in training and Mladen has the look of a good heavyweight prospect based on what we saw in his pro debut.”

Baxter, who is growing his stable of talented boxers, also looks forward to the career changing opportunity his fighter Samuel Vargas has when he faces unbeaten Danny GarciaNovembre 12.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (Ottobre 25, 2016) - Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s Sportswoman of the Year Claressa Shields will be making her much anticipated professional debut during the lead-off freeview telecast of Kovalev-Ward “Pound For Pound” on Sabato, Novembre. 19 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shields is set to face an opponent to be announced in a four-round middleweight bout, with each round timed at two-minutes. The pay-per-view telecast will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. E/6:00 p.m. PT. The freeview telecast which includes the live Claressa Shields bout will begin at 7:00 p.m. E/4:00 p.m. PT and will be available on cable, satellitare, and telco channels.

Claressa Shields is a talented 21-year-old boxer from Flint, Michigan. Inspired by former boxing star Laila Ali, Shields developed a passion for the sport and began boxing at the age of 11. It was soon after beginning her journey she realized her family was apprehensive towards the contact sports. After weeks of family discussions, Shields was granted her family’s permission to pursue her passion – a decision they will likely never regret.

 

Shields burst onto the boxing scene, developing a name for herself as one of the most talented female boxers in the country. Her reputation continued to build through her middle and high school years leading her to become the first ever U.S. women’s boxer to qualify for the 2012 London Games.
