CINCINNATI (Januar 24, 2017) -WBA-Champion im Weltergewicht David Avanesyan (22-1-1, 11 KOs) will defend his title against former two-time world champion Lamont Peterson (34-3-1, 17 KOs) in a 12-round matchup that serves as the co-main event of Showtime Championship Boxing Samstag, Februar 18 from the Cintas Center at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Televised coverage on SHOWTIME begins at 9 p.m. UND/6 p.m. PT with unbeaten light heavyweight contender “Herr” Marcus Browne (18-0, 13 KOs) meeting hard-hitting former title challenger Thomas “Platzhirsch” Williams Jr. (20-2, 14 KOs) in einem 10-Runden Showdown. New York, NY, Januar 24, 2017 - 1.85 million viewers tuned in for the final fight in Tito Ortiz’s storied career, a first round submission victory over Chael Sonnen. This marks the most watched Bellator fight on Spike since last February and the most watched MMA fight on television in 2017.
*these are preliminary numbers as the more accurate viewership total factoring in DVR +3 will be released Donnerstag.

Warrior’s Boxing’s revived “Kampfnacht in der windigen Stadt” continued its growth am Samstag night in Chicago, as the largest crowd yet watched a seven-bout card at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
In the thrilling main event, Chicago junior middleweight Achour Esho (13-0, 8 KOs) had to survive a nearly disastrous first round to stop crosstown rival Anthony Abbruzzese (4-6, 3 KOs) in three.
Abbruzzese came out blazing in the first, culminating in a sustained barrage of punches that could have easily led to a stoppage. To Esho’s credit, he survived and walked wearily to his stool.
The fight changed, jedoch, in Runde zwei, as a miraculously revived Esho bit down on his mouthpiece and started throwing hard shots. One of them dropped a surprised Abbruzzese, who arose on shaky legs, only to be dropped again before round’s end.

Bellator 173: McGeary vs. Felder

Hailing from Andover, England, the 34-year-old Liam McGeary (11-1) will make the short trek up to Northern Ireland’s capital for the first time in his career, where he will once again compete in a main event. The former Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion will enter the cage for the 10thtime under the Scott Coker-led promotion, where he has posted an 8-1 record with seven finishes. Following an 11-fight winning streak to begin his professional career, McGeary finally experienced the sour taste of defeat, wann Phil Davis wrestled the title away from him at Bellator 163. McGeary has consistently proven to be one of the most dangerous strikers and submission artists in the 205-pound division, finishing his victim in 10 von 11 Karriere gewinnt, including eight in the opening frame. Fields has tallied finishes in each of his 11 Karriere gewinnt, making him one of the most menacing opponents for anyone standing in his way. Now the SBG Ireland product will look to make a splash in his first fight with Bellator MMA, as he prepares for the former division kingpin.

 

Hailing from nearby Straban, Irland, der 20-Jährige James Gallagher (5-0) is one of the brightest stars in all “The Emerald Island.” At age 15, “The Strabanimal” moved away from home to join Coach John Kavanagh at Straight Blast Gym (SBG), where he now trains alongside the best fighters in the country including Connor McGregor. Having made his Bellator debut in London this past July in London, Gallagher followed up in December with a submission victory over Anthony Taylor in front of a raucous home crowd at the 3Arena in Dublin. Gallagher now takes on Kirill Medvedovsky (7-3) in the co-main event of the evening.

 

Another top prospect from the famed SBG powerhouse, Sinead Kavanagh (4-0) returns to the Bellator cage against 32-year-old Parisian Iona Razafiarison (1-1, 1 NC) in a 140-pound catchweight matchup “KO” Kavanagh, who fights out of nearby Dublin Ireland will no doubt be looking to collect her third knockout on Februar 24.

 

BAMMA 28: Parke Vs. Redmond

“Stormin” Norman Parke (22-5-1) from Bushmills, Antrim is no stranger to BAMMA events, as he has been spotted numerous times cornering team mates as part of the Next Gen Northern Ireland fight team. One of Europe’s most sought after free agents prior to putting pen to paper with BAMMA, Parke now goes in pursuit of the coveted BAMMA World Lightweight title.

Paul “Redser” Redmond (11-6) landed a victorious homecoming of his own at BAMMA 26, as Redser took out the double tough Chris “The Menace” Stringer to claim the adulation of his hometown support. Redmond now steps into one of the biggest fights ever announced in Ireland, as he takes on Parke in this hugely anticipated match up.

NEW YORK (Jan. 24, 2017) – SHOWTIME will televise the eagerly anticipated rematch between WBA Lightweight World Champion Jorge Linares and former champ Anthony Crolla auf Samstag, März 25 weiterleben SHOW TIME von Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

He became a three-division titlist when he captured the vacant WBC Lightweight World Championship in 2014 with a knockout of Javier Prieto. The 31-year-old defended the belt twice in 2015 with knockouts of Kevin Mitchell and Ivan Cano before being named “Champion in Recess” by the WBC because of inactivity due to injuries. Linares returned following an 11-month layoff to face Crolla in his hometown of Manchester, outpointing the champion 115-114, 117-111 und 115-113 in a back-and-forth and bloody battle. NEW YORK (Januar 23, 2017) – Boxing journalist Steve Farhood was the special guest speaker at last Tuesday night’s Ring 8 monthly meeting held at O’Neill’s Restaurant in Maspeth, New York.
Farhood is being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame this June. The popular Brooklynite, is the former editor-and-chief of The Ring and KO Magazine, in addition to being a veteran television commentator, including his current role for Showtime’s ShoBox: Die neue Generation seit seiner Gründung in 2001. In 2002, he received the prestigious Sam Taub Award from the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) for Excellence in Broadcasting Journalism.

Farhood and Duffy are inductees in the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame (NYSBHOF), which is sponsored by Ring 8, while Hirsch is past president of the BWAA.

ST. PETERSBURG, Russland (Januar 23, 2017) – Ungeschlagene M-1 Challenge-Weltergewicht Champion Alexey Kunchenko wird jetzt von anderen Russen herausgefordert Maksim Grabovich, der den verletzten Shavkat Rakhmonov ersetzt hat, März 3, bei M-1-Herausforderung 75 in Moskau.
M-1-Grand-Prix-Champion im Mittel Alexander “Sturm” Shlemenko (54-9-0. 1 NC, M-1: 4-0-0),der dreimalige Bellator-Champion, Headliner M-1-Herausforderung 75 gegen einen Gegner wird in Kürze bekannt gegeben.
Kunchenko (15-0-0, M-1: 7-0), aus Tyumen kämpfen, Russland, ist ein Muay Thai-Spezialist, der im vergangenen April seinen Titelgürtel im Weltergewicht der M-1 Challenge gewonnen hat M-1-Herausforderung 65, bei der Verteidigung der Titelliste Murad Abdulaev während der vierten Runde zurückgezogen.
In einem Kampf ohne Titel, Kunchenko gewann eine einstimmige Entscheidung in drei Runden Eduardo Ramon bei M-1 Challenge bei M-1-Herausforderung 70 letzten September. Seine erste Titelverteidigung war Dezember 5 bei M-1-Herausforderung 72, in dem Kunchenko eine 5-Runden einstimmige Entscheidung über Abdulaev in einem Rückkampf gewann.
Grabovich (5-2-0, M-1: 4-0-0), Kampf gegen den berühmten Stary Oskol in Russland, hat seine letzten drei Kämpfe gewonnen und war in vier M-1 Global-Spielen ungeschlagen. Sein bisheriger Signatursieg war im vergangenen Juni um M-1-Herausforderung 68, in dem Grabovich eine dreistündige einstimmige Entscheidung im Kampf der Nacht gewann.
