Allemagne, United States and Latvia Play Host to WBO Bouts

L'Organisation mondiale de boxe (WBO), présidé par Francisco « Paco » Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Mai 12.

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 KO), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 KO). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. ET.

We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. It’s going to be a classic fight of puncher against a boxer. If Munguía wins, he would be placed on a select list of great Mexican boxers who have been world champions at or before 21 years of age”, said Valcárcel.

In Augsburg, Allemagne, women’s boxing takes the stage when the popular former world champion Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 KO) of Germany and the world contender Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 KO) of Belgium, face each other for the vacant WBO world belt of the super middleweight division. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

We remain committed and supportive of women’s boxing. Germany is no exception. This great fight has the community looking on because there is a world title at stake and the fight will be liked by the public”, said Valcárcel.

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 KO) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 KO) of Miass, Russie.

Aussi, the WBO International Lightweight Champion and 5th ranked Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 KO) of Nazran, Russie, will defend his title against the strong Venezuelan puncher, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 KO).

For the vacant middleweight WBO International belt, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 KO) from Russia, will face against Argentina’s Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 KO).

We are making a presence in eastern Europe. Ce temps, it was Latvia’s turn to have boxers who are already ranked in the top positions of the WBO and for the rest of the year, could be fighting for world titles”, expressed Varcárcel.

HOUSTON, Texas – Héritage Fighting Alliance (LFA) CEO Ed Soares announced today that the promotion will feature a welterweight war at the top of LFA 42 when the promotion returns to The Ozarks in June.

L'événement principal de LFA 42 will feature a welterweight war between former LFA welterweight champion DerrickD-RockKrantz and knockout artist KassiusKillaKayne. LFA 42 – Krantz vs. Kayne takes place Friday, June 8th at the Branson Convention Center in Branson, Missouri. La totalité de la carte principale sera retransmis en direct et à l'échelle nationale sur la télévision au AXS 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT.

I am excited to bring the LFA back to Missouri in June,” A déclaré Soares. “RFA hosted four shows across the state and we returned last year as LFA. Missouri has some of the best fans and MMA talent in the country. Derrick Krantz won the inaugural LFA welterweight title. He is on a path to reclaim his crown. Standing in his way is Kassius Kayne, who is one of the most exciting fighters on our roster.

Les billets pour LFA 42 – Krantz vs. Kayne are available for purchase NOW at CageTix.com.

Krantz (21-10) captured the inaugural LFA welterweight championship twelve months ago with a performance that is considered the magnum opus of his impressive MMA career. The powerhouse from Texas is always itching for a good old-fashioned fist fight and unloaded his formidable fistolas on Ben Neumann in the main event of LFA 12 to capture his second world title. Deux ans plus tôt, Krantz accomplished a nearly identical feat against UFC vet Brock Larson to win the Legacy FC welterweight title. Krantz lost his LFA title via Split Decision in a closely contested bout with former University of Nebraska wrestling standout James Nakashima at LFA 23, but he bounced back with a dominant win over longtime Legacy FC vet Artenas Young in March. The 30-year-old former champ now has his sights set on another fighter who has made a name for himself in Nebraska. That would be the man known asKilla Kayne”.

Kayne (12-4) is one of the most exciting fighters to hail from the “Cornhusker État” du Nebraska. That is where the proud Nebraskan knocked out highly-touted Hawaiian prospect Maki Pitolo seventeen months ago to win a regional title in his hometown of Omaha. Since that notable night in his career, “Killa Kaynehas taken his talents to the LFA Octagon. The two-time RFA vet made his LFA debut in his home state this past October at LFA 25. He stopped fellow RFA vet Jordon Larson via TKO in a showdown between two of the Midwest’s most popular fighters. Kayne continued his winning ways just two weeks ago, when he scored a quick TKO win over Ivey Nixon in a local show. Now he returns to the LFA Octagon to battle a former LFA champion at a neutral location. Branson, Missouri is the midway point between Kayne’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska and Krantz’s hometown of Marshall, Texas.

LAS VEGAS (Mai 9, 2018) – Fight week events kicked off Wednesday with a media workout for the Premier Champions de boxe sur Bounce card headlined by former world champion Ishe Smith taking on super welterweight contender Tony Harrison ce vendredi, Mai 11 de Sam's Town à Las Vegas.

Coverage on Bounce begins at 9 p.m. HE / 6 h, heure. PT and also features unbeaten cruiserweight Andrew “La Bête” Tabiti, who participated in Wednesday’s workout, réunion Lateef Kayode pour 10 tours d'action.

Les billets pour l'événement, qui est promu par Mayweather Promotions, commencer à $25, sont en vente maintenant et seront disponibles à www.samstownlv.com/entertain.

Voici ce que les participants avaient à dire mercredi:

Étaient SMITH

I’ve been in there with some great fighters throughout the year. My mentality is that no fighter is going to beat me who’s been stopped every time he’s stepped up. I have to do whatever I can to make sure that happens.

This is the first time in my career that I’ve had a strength and conditioning coach for two fights in a row. Je me sens vraiment bien maintenant. I hate clichés and I hate saying this is the best camp of my life, but I really do feel like this is one of the best camps I’ve had. I felt like that last fight too, but I know I’ll sound like everybody else

What motivates me is watching guys like LeBron James who have been doing this nearly as long as I have, and they’re still at the top of their game. That kind of longevity is what I strive for and that’s because I live that life inside and outside of the gym.

I’ve been training for three months for this fight and I just want a fair shake on fight night. I thought the scorecards in the Julian Williams fight were terrible. I can’t control it but it’s definitely something I want to avoid on fight night.

Nobody has put on for Las Vegas like I have. I’ve done everything in my career the hard way. I took Cornelius Bundrage’s belt in his hometown. I’m not going to be beat on Friday night.

I’ve been in this game two decades and I’ve seen the highs and the lows. If everything works out, I’ll be victorious on Friday night. I’m ready to go on the road and take on anyone.

TONY HARRISON

Every time I step into the ring I’m extremely motivated. I’m fighting to feed my family. I’m from Detroit so we go through wars all the time. I was ready to jump on this fight as soon as they asked me about it.

This is a fight that will get me back to a world title fight. This can get me right back into a title eliminator. What better place to do it than the boxing capital of the world? Everybody who fights wants to be in the main event fighting in Las Vegas.

Ishe Smith has been in a lot of tough fights and he’s fought most of the top guys in the division. If I can get him into some danger, I want to see how his will is at that moment. I’m going to push him from round one and I think it makes for a good fight.

It’s part of my mental game to make him work round after round. If I see him slow down, it will make me push more. I appreciate what he’s done, but I don’t know how much more he has left. I want to be a champion like he was.

Being the first person to stop Ishe would be an opportunity I have to take. It would make a statement. But if I go the distance, it would answer all of the questions the critics have had about my motor. I’m going to be fresh until the end of this fight.

ANDREW Tabiti

I’m excited to put on a good show and take care of a solid durable opponent. I know that my time is coming and this another chance to show off my skills.

Once I fight the top tier cruiserweights, they’re going to see what I’m capable of. I basically used Steve Cunningham’s game plan against him. I’m very adaptable.

I’m focused on showing a versatile side of my boxing skills. I’m not going straight for the knockout. I want to show people that I have boxing IQ and the ability to knock anyone out in the ring. I want to show both sides of my skill set.

LEONARD Ellerbe, PDG de Promotions Mayweather

It’s always important to have great fights like this to Las Vegas. With Ishe Smith being a native it’s even better. This is a good fight that could put Ishe back into the thick of things. People don’t raise their hand to fight Ishe. I think Ishe has a second wind right now and he’s refreshed at this point in his career.

Ishe doesn’t fight like he’s 39. There isn’t going to be anything that Tony Harrison can bring that Ishe hasn’t seen. Ishe has picked it up and I think the rest of the division knows that. It’s a deep weight class with a lot of possibilities out there. He has the ability to beat anyone out there.

The future is very bright for Andrew Tabiti. It’s all in his hands. He has all the attributes that you need. He has a good team around him and it’s just a matter of finding ways to help him get to the next level. This is a great opportunity for him to showcase his skills against a very durable, tough guy in Kayode. Tabiti is looking to make a statement to all the other cruiserweights out there. He’s a guy they’re going to have to deal with in the very near future.

Adam Lopez Reunites With Former Trainer For Must-Win Fight This Friday On ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération

Lopez Battles Undefeated Arnold Khegai Live on SHOWTIME® At 10 p.m. ET/PT From 2300 Arena In Philadelphia

Nutley, N.J. (Mai 9, 2018) – Super Bantamweight prospect Adam Lopez has reunited with his former trainer for his eight-round matchup with undefeated Arnold khegai ce vendredi sur ShoBox: The New Generation in the opening bout of a four-fight SHOWTIME telecast (10 p.m. ET/PT) à partir de 2300 Arène en Philadelphie.

Lopez (16-2-2, 8 KOs) is back under the tutelage of former world champion Carlos “Célèbre” Hernandez, returning to his hometown of San Antonio after completing his previous two camps in New Jersey.

This fight is do or die,” Lopez a dit. “In the situation I am in now, this could make or break my career. Everything is really good and I’m happy to be back with Carlos Hernandez. Once I got back with him, a lot of what we worked on before is coming back. The sport is repetitive, and I have been sparring with aggressive guys.

In Khegai (11-0-1, 8 KOs), Lopez is facing a tough and hard-nosed fighter from Ukraine. Lopez has done extensive scouting on his adversary, who will be making his American debut.

I have seen just about all of his fights, and he is definitely aggressive,” Lopez a dit. “I know he is a former kickboxer. He is a rugged guy, but I am a veteran, who has faced many styles, so I am ready for whatever he will bring on Friday.

Lopez has become a favorite on ShoBox and Friday is his record seventh appearance on the prospect developmental series. He is committed and ready to seize this opportunity against an undefeated prospect.

I need to take advantage of this opportunity,” Lopez a dit. “I think I have always performed well on ShoBox, and I have gained a lot of fans because I have been on a handful of times.Friday, Je veux faire un super show, and then get in the mix with all of the top 122-pound fighters. I am recently married, and on Friday night, it will prove to be my time.

Adam knows that this is a big opportunity,” said GH3 Promotions CEO, Vito Mielnicki. “Adam has shown his willingness to take on all comers, and Friday will be no different. For him to be making his seventh ShoBox appearance, shows what kind of fighter he is.

Lopez is promoted by GH3 Promotions.

THE FAMILY THAT BLEEDS TOGETHER

Portland, Maine (Mai 9, 2018) – The family that bleeds together, stays together.

It isn’t exactly warm, fuzzy, wall-hanging material that you’ll find overlooking somebody’s mantle, but the statement applies to Tampa, Florida-based domestic partners Amanda Gallo and Michael Vizza.

They’ll travel to Maine for their second New England Fights card in four months – and the first featuring both their names on the docket – for “NEF 34: Home of the Brave.”

Fight night is Saturday, Juin 16 à Aura à Portland.

Gallo (1-1), who stunned the crowd with her victory over Jayda Bailey in February, is scheduled to face Brianne Genschell (0-1) in a bantamweight clash. Vizza (1-2) will be paired with NEF newcomer Christian Barrett.

“It was supposed to happen one time, but then I got injured in training. So we’ve had fight camp together before,” Gallo said. “It’s interesting when you’re both training for a fight at the same time. When you put two hungry, angry people together, it can get difficult.”

The two fought one week apart in their most recent trips to the cage.

Vizza was still training for a bout in Florida when they paid a four-day visit to Maine in the dead of winter for Gallo’s showdown with then-undefeated Bailey.

“Like any relationship it has ups and downs,” Vizza said. “I think we have more ups than downs because we get to spend a lot of time together.”

Since relocating from Tallahassee to Tampa, the couple has trained at RMNU South Tampa. One of their coaches is NEF mainstay John Ortolani.

“We’re basically gym partners. It’s good to have the same interests,” Gallo said. “It’s cool at the gym, because when it’s time partner up with someone to drill or whatever, you know the person.”

After fighting in Georgia and Florida, Gallo wound up taking her first fight in Maine through her connection with Ortolani.

The former lacrosse player, un vétéran de 20 combats pro MMA, spoke highly of his own experience with NEF. Gallo felt the same welcoming atmosphere from both the promotion and its fans in her first go-round.

“John had so many good things to say about the organization,” Gallo said. “And I did have an awesome experience. It’s very well organized. They treat the fighters really well.”

It took a while for her to win over the crowd, bien sûr. Many of them were responsible for selecting Bailey as NEF’s 2017 rookie of the year.

Menant à la lutte, Gallo saw an internet poll in which 97 percent of the fans picked her opponent to win.

“It can mess with your head a little bit when you feel like you’re considered that big an underdog, but I also used it as motivation to prove them wrong,” Gallo said. “You feel like there’s nothing to lose.”

Gallo had to laugh at the crowd response during fighter introductions, which was similarly slanted.

“They announced her name and everybody screamed,” Gallo said. “When they announced mine you could hear crickets.”

After losing her debut in Thomasville, Géorgie, by split decision to a veteran opponent, Gallo balanced the books with a unanimous decision victory at Bailey’s expense.

She will take on another local favorite in Genschell (0-1), who fights out of Farmington and First Class MMA of Topsham.

“I know she’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu, so that will be an interesting challenge,” Gallo said of Genschell.

Challenges and surprises are part of the attraction of fighting in Maine, added Vizza, who also will take on a foe from the First Class stable in Barrett.

Vizza has a TKO win and losses by split decision and submission in his home region.

“It’s just good to get a different perspective. We kind of know most of the people who fight around here,” Vizza said of the southeast. “It’s fun to train to fight someone you’ve never really seen or heard of, and to do it about as far away as you can go.”

Both fighters were impressed by the passion and loyalty of NEF fans. Vizza noted that seeing thousands of casual spectators at a local MMA promotion is unheard of in Florida.

“The energy is definitely crazy. I’ve never seen so many people so excited to watch people fight that they haven’t even heard of,"Il a dit. “Down here you’re pretty much fighting in front of your family and friends. Up there people are excited to go see people they don’t even know. It’s for the genuine appreciation of the sport.”

In Gallo’s case, women’s opponents are hard to find in her corner of the country. The sudden spike of competitiveness in NEF’s female ranks could make Maine a semi-regular destination for years to come.

“When I lived in Tallahassee it was extremely difficult to find women’s fights, or fights in general. MMA is just not very big there,” Gallo said. “Down in Tampa there is a lot more promotion of the sport, but it’s still hard. All the fighters kind of know each other.”

At this rate, Gallo and Vizza may become a well-known power couple – some 1,450 miles from home – in no time.

prochain événement mixte arts martiaux de NEF, “NEF 34: Home of the Brave,” aura lieu à Aura à Portland, Maine samedi, Juin 16, 2018. Les billets sont en vente en ligne à www.AuraMaine.com.

Here is what the participants had to say Tuesday at Palm Restaurant Downtown Los Angeles:

Jermell Charlo

Me and my brother talk the talk and we walk the walk. From this point on in our careers, we’re going full force and it’s going to be nothing but knockouts.

Every fight in my life is important because the man standing across from me is there to beat me. Kobe Bryant used to talk about how he knew everyone was going to come at him extra hard whether it was practice or a game, because of who he was and the status he had. I know that I can’t take anyone lightly.

I’m an animal. I love to train. I’m right on weight and really happy about how I feel. I’m in dog shape. I’m going to show everyone on June 9 what’s supposed to happen. You all know what to expect.

Our careers and our records are growing and you’re getting to see more of the Charlos. We’re jolts of lightning for this sport. We’re giving people real problems. We just get in there and do what we do.

We’re ready to keep putting on shows for everyone. My brother just did his thing in Brooklyn and now we’re taking it to the West Coast. I love Los Angeles. I live here and I love training here. Me and Jermall both have knockouts at STAPLES Center and we’re going to turn it out on June 9.

I know that I have to get in there, put my mind to it and do what I have to do. It’s his job to beat me and I’m preparing to stop him. The ‘Charlo Showis going to keep going. I’m not worried about Trout’s fight with my brother. Every fight we’ve been growing and changing.

I didn’t have to go through what Trout had to in his last big fight against Hurd. I’m the fresher younger fighter. I don’t take away anything from what he’s done in his career, but I have my own career and legacy and he’s standing in my way.

Me and my brother are a force to be reckoned with. We train super hard. I’m not leaving that hard work in camp, I’m taking it to the fight.

AUSTIN TROUT

We’re going out there to steal the show. Which will be hard to do because the main event is a barnburner. But I just hope they’re not sleeping on me, because they’ve awoken a sleeping giant. I’ve been busy and active so I feel like I’m very dangerous right now.

I respect Charlo because he didn’t have to take this fight. Now it’s time to get it on. When I fought his brother, I remember people counted me out and said history had been made before I even stepped into the ring. I’m here again to try to stop the ‘Charlo Showand start the ‘Trout Show.'

“Je suis très excité à propos de cette lutte. I love fighting in Los Angeles. I’m undefeated here and I plan to remain undefeated here. Being at STAPLES Center is a great honor. I’m a big basketball fan so I know what that building means.

The Charlos act similar, but they’re not the same and they definitely don’t fight the same. I think the difference in this fight is that I’ve been busier leading up to it. I just fought in February so my skills were more refined coming into this camp.

We started camp already 50 percent of the way there because of my recent activity and it’s allowed me to work even more on game plan. We’re going to be prepared for everything he has. It’s going to add up to my victory.

My skills are going to be sharper than fans are used to seeing in recent years. The dog in me is fully ready to go. I’m starving. I feel like I’m young and this is my opportunity to prove I’m still the king of this division.

I’m just using the past disappoints as motivation. Including the fight against Jermall. That’s all the fuel that I need.

“Sur Juin 9 you can expect to see my hand raised. It’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be a dog fight. It’s going to be a great fight and I’m going to come out on top. That belt is going to look on me.

RICHARD SCHAEFER, Président & PDG de Sport Ringstar

The only way to make a card like this bigger than it already was with Santa Cruz vs. Mères 2, was to add a world title fight like this with two incredibly talented fighters. Austin Trout is a true champion outside of the ring and inside the ring and he knows what a win over Jermell Charlo would do for his career. He’ll be aided by having a man in his corner in Barry Hunter who always seems to come up with the right game plan.

There are a lot of great fighters with talent and skill, but you can’t tell me five fighters who can combine those skills with the charisma and personality that the Charlo twins have. The last time I saw crowds of reporters engaged with fighters like this was with Floyd Mayweather. But these guys aren’t following in anyone’s footsteps, they’re doing it their way and they’re doing an absolutely amazing job.

The Charlo twins are pound-for-pound one and two as having the overall package of skill and charisma. You can’t teach that. You either have it or you don’t.

The Charlos go into every fight with a target on their back. They know their opponent will be in their best shape possible. That is exactly the personality of Austin Trout and what makes him such a dangerous opponent who has years of experience in big fights to fall back on. Jermell knows that and he will be ready. I know these guys can’t wait to face each other on June 9.

Couverture télévisée commence à 9 p.m. HE / 6 h, heure. PT and will also feature former title challenger Oscar Escandon rencontre invaincu 2012 Médaillé d'argent olympique Tugstsogt Nyambayar dans un poids plume combat de 10 rounds.

Les billets pour l'événement en direct, qui est promu par Promotions TGB, commence à $20 and are on sale now at the Beau Rivage Theatre box office, à www.ticketmaster.com ou en appelant Ticketmaster au (800) 745-3000.

This is a fantastic card for true boxing fans, because it has all the elements that make the sport great,” a déclaré Tom Brown, Président de TGB Promotions. “You have a young contender in Eddie Ramirez looking to rebound from the first loss of his career facing a battle-tested former world champion in Argenis Mendez. You also have a young hungry contender in Nyambayar taking a major step forward by facing a strong contender in Escandon who wants to get back in the title mix. No one wants to take a step backwards.

Ramirez (17-1, 11 KOs) is looking to bounce back from suffering the first loss of his career in his last outing. Ramirez was knocked out by former world champion Antonio DeMarco last October on FOX, although Ramirez believed the ref acted too hastily in ending the fight. The 25-year-old from Aurora, Illinois was rapidly moving up the ranks before the loss, having scored impressive stoppage victories over then unbeaten prospects Kevin Watts and Ryan Karl and a split decision victory over Erick Bone in fights that aired on FS1 and FOX Deportes.

I really wanted the rematch with Antonio DeMarco, but I’m excited to be back in the ring,” said Ramirez. “Mendez is a good fighter, but I’m going to win by knockout. I’m confident that I’m going to make a big statement that I’m back and better than I’ve ever been.

The 31-year-old Mendez (24-5-1, 12 KOs) is coming off a split decision victory over Ivan Redkach last May on FS1 and FOX Deportes. Avec la victoire, the fighter out of the Dominican Republic rebounded from back-to-back losses to lightweight champion Robert Easter, Jr. and Luke Campbell. Un membre de la 2004 Dominican Olympic team, Mendez won a 130-pound world title with a knockout victory over Juan Carlos Salgado in 2013. He fought Rances Barthelemy twice to defend the title, with the first fight being declared a no decision before Mendez dropped the rematch.

I lost two fights and people started to wonder if I was done, but I’m a former world champion and came back strong to win my last fight,” dit Mendez. “Eddie Ramirez is a good fighter, but when I show him my speed power, and skills, everyone is going to see what I’m still capable of. This is a great opportunity to show that I can beat this guy badly and get back to the world championship level.

Escandon (25-3, 17 KOs) is trying to climb back into the featherweight title picture after losing by TKO to world champion Gary Russell, Jr. dans son dernier combat en mai 20. The 33-year-old from Ibague, Colombia scored a knockout victory over Robinson Castellanos in a 2016 interim featherweight title fight and lost a split decision to Moises Flores in a 2015 interim super bantamweight title bout.

With the level of competition that I’ve fought and beat, I know I’m the toughest and most experienced guy Nyambayar will have ever fought,” said Escandon. “Knockouts are what I do, and that’s what I’m preparing to accomplish. But no matter what he tries to do, box or fight, I’m going to win this fight and climb back to the top.

Nyambayar (9-0, 8 KOs) went the distance for the first time as a pro last time in the ring as he earned an eight round unanimous decision over then unbeaten Harmonito Dela Torre last November. The 25-year-old from Ulan-Bator, Mongolia won a silver medal at flyweight at the 2012 London Games and has trained in California since turning pro in 2015.

I feel very prepared for this fight,” said Nyambayar. “I’ve gained a lot of experience in my last few fights and have started to prove that I am tough and dangerous. This is another step up and I expect him to be toughest opponent I’ve faced. I’m determined to win this fight by any means,”
