Quebec City, Kanada (November 2, 2018) –– The charismatic Marie-Eve Dicaire (13-0-0, 0 KO) will have the chance to make her dream come true on December 1 at the Videotron Center in Quebec, when she fights for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) World light middleweight title against champion Chris Namus (24-4-0, 8 KO), of Uruguay. Marie-Eve will fight in the first women’s world title bout in Quebec’s history.

 

 

 

The 31-year-old Namus, fighting out of South America, signed the contract this past Tuesday to defend her crown against Dicaire in the co-featured event on the card headlined by the World Boxing Council (WBC) and lineal light heavyweight world championship bout between Adonis Stevenson és kihívója Oleksandr Gvozdyk, adding some spice to an already red-hot card.

Women’s Superstar Claressa Shields to Defend IBF and WBA Middleweight Championships and Looks to Add WBC Belt Against Scotland’s Hannah Rankin, Live on DAZN on November 17

Shields was originally scheduled to face WBC and WBO World Middleweight Champion Christina Hammer on November 17, but the bout was postponed after Hammer withdrew due to medical reasons. Hammer has been named a champion in recess during her recovery. The two champions are now projected to do battle in the first quarter of 2019.

The Summer Youth Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 continues through Oct. 18 at Parque Polidesportivo Roca in Argentina.

 

 

 

The 18-year-old Martinez started boxing six years ago, when her step-father came into her life, taking her to a local boxing gym to help keep her out of potential trouble, as well to defend herself.

 

 

 

She is an online student at the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, planning to major in business, and Roma has been able to balance her busy schedule for a simple reason. “I don’t have much of a social life,” she admitted, “so it’s easy for me to train and study.”
 

 

Argentina is the second foreign country she’s traveled to having competed last November in India. Although she has a relatively limited amateur career, Martinez has managed to capture top honors at six national events: 2016 USA Boxing Nationals, 2014 & 2015 Batte lf the Universe, 20-15 Women’s Golden Glove, 2-15 Junior Olympics Nationals, és 2014 Brown Gloves.

 

 

 

Like many of her Team USA teammates, in addition to opponents from all over the world, Roma hopes she can parlay an impressive performance in Buenos Aires to improve her chances to eventually qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

 

 

 

“The Youth Olympics is the biggest thing in my career because I hope to compete in the 2020 Olimpia,” Martinez said. “The Youth Olympics is almost as big as the Olympics, only younger athletes compete. I take things one day at a time, but I do have goals to make the Olympics, win a gold medal, and then turn pro and win a world title.

 

 

“This is my last youth competition. This December I will move up to Elite Division. There will be a difference in age (of her opponents) and more international competition, but I need that experience to reach my goals.”

 

 

 

Roma, she says, is a technical boxer who occasionally brings pressure. Her favorite boxer is the great “Cukor” Ray Leonard and she looks up to Nicola Adams (2012 & 2016 Olympic gold medalist from Great Britain) és Mikaela Mayer (2016 USA Olympian). Roma has taken advantage of sparring sessions with Adams and Mayer, illetőleg, in Houston and Colorado Springs.

 

 

 

Martinez believes female boxing is on the upswing and she looks forward to its future. “The more top female boxers will mean bigger things for us,” Martinez added, “We’ll get more TV time and make more money.”

Martinez plans to travel a lot in the future and when she earns her business degree, Roma is determined to use it to her advantage, owning a restaurant and, possibly, a gym so that she can remain in boxing after she hangs up her gloves way down the road.

Selina Barrios Retains NABF Lightweight Title with Dominating Unanimous Decision Over Patricia Juarez

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Szeptember 22, 2018) – Tonight at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, TX, San Antonio’s female boxing sensation, Selina “Aztec királynő” Környező (5-0, 2 KO), remained undefeated with a dominating 10-round unanimous decision victory over Patricia Juarez (4-1), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Mariana “Barbie” Juarez (50-9-4, 13 KO). SAN ANTONIO, TX (Szeptember 13, 2018) – Undefeated NABF Lightweight champion, Selina “Aztec királynő” Környező (4-0, 2 KO) is getting ready for her Corpus Christi Showdown on September 22, 2018, against Patricia Juarez (4-0), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Mariana “Barbie” Juarez (50-9-4, 13 KO).

On the line will be Selina’s NABF Lightweight title. The 10-round bout will take place at Whataburger Field, home to the Corpus Christi Hooks, the double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.

Training camp has begun and this is what Barrios has had to say:

On her recent training camp in San Antonio…

“Training camp has been very challenging but its going to be worth every minute. I feel very motivated for this camp. I truly believe I am the best in my division and for that to continue to be true, I must train harder than others, and that’s what I’m doing. I understand that Patricia Juarez is undefeated and a very tough opponent. That’s why I’m training extremely hard, because I respect her skill level. It’s going to be a great fight for the fans.

On fighting Patricia Juarez…

“Patricia Juarez is a deserving and tough challenger. I am training as though I am going to be in a tough and grueling fight that will go the distance, but my mindset like my last fight is to also go for a knockout. I am training very hard for this fight and I want the fans to know that I am not taking my opponent lightly.

On fighting in Corpus Christi on the Baseball field for the Houston Astros organization…

“It is a dream come true when you work so hard at something, in my case boxing, and a major organization lets you fight in their facility. The Houston Astros organization is a staple of the city of Corpus Christi, and the entire state of Texas for all that matter. I love fighting in Texas, its where I’m from, and it is a major honor to entertain so many people, especially those who will be in attendance at Whataburger field on September 22nd. Everyone watching my fight, is going to see something special.

On defending her NABF Lightweight title..

“The NABF lightweight title means the world to me at this point in my career, and defending it is very important. I live for people to call me ‘champ’ and to not have a belt, would mean I didn’t work hard enough to keep it. I can’t let that happen, so I am working tremendously hard to keep this belt, because not just do I want to defend it, but I also want to fight for a world title as well, which means I cannot lose the NABF strap.

“This is the best division in all of women’s boxing in my opinion. We have Mikaela Mayer and Katie Taylor, who I think are two very talented fighters. I also think Amanda Serrano should be considered in this division, even though she went up multiple weight classes and made history by becoming a six-division world champ. Quite simply said, I want to fight all of them and I want to prove I am the best fighter in this division. I am training and working hard so that I can be the first female fighter to make a million dollars in the ring. I’m going to be a million-dollar baby, and my fighting style will be the reason.”

BUDAPEST, Magyarország (Augusztus 31, 2018) — A. Utolsó napja 2018 Ifjúsági világbajnokság Budapesten, Magyarország újabb aranysapka volt az USA csapat számára, mint mindketten Mennyország Garcia (A hegy, Kalifornia.) és Asa Stevens (Waianae, Hawaii) női és férfi légsúlyú címet nyert..

 

 

 

Stevens a boksz utolsó napját az első mérkőzésen kezdte 2018 Az európai bajnok Ivan Price, Anglia. Vezetés ehhez a leszámoláshoz, Stevens és az USA Boxing edzői stábja egy olyan tervet dolgozott ki, amely győzelmet eredményez.

 

 

 

„Az elmúlt három napban játéktervet készítettünk a távolságtartásról és a sok ájulásról,”- mondta Stevens aranyérmes teljesítménye után. "Úgy érzem, hogy nagyon jól kihasználtuk, és ezzel megszereztem a győzelmet."

„Ez sokat jelent, egyetlen szó sem tudja igazán megmagyarázni, hogyan érzem magam,”- jelentette ki Stevens. "Ez a legjobb érzés a világon."

 

 

 

Garcia megszerezte második világbajnoki címét, hogy növelje 2015 Junior világbajnoki cím vele 4-1 megosztott döntési győzelem az indiai Anamika felett.

Garcia mai győzelme felkeresi a női amatőr ökölvívók listájára, akik több amatőr világbajnoki címet nyertek, beleértve JaJaira Gonzalezt és Claressa Shields-t.. Garcia az első amerikai, aki junior és ifjúsági világbajnoki címet is nyert, mióta Gonzalez ezt tette 2013 és 2014/2015. Garcia arra is törekszik, hogy az októberi ifjúsági olimpián győzelemmel csatlakozzon Gonzalezhez a rekordkönyvekben.

Az USA csapat tíz intenzív boksznap után, összesen három aranyéremmel és egy bronzzal kezdi holnap hazatérését. Az idei torna hozta 350 ökölvívók felülről 50 országok a világ minden tájáról. A tornán segédedzőként Sanchez csatlakozott a bokszoló kanyarokhoz Timothy Back (Cincinnati, Ohio), Eliza Olson (Vörösfenyő, Kalifornia.) és Rosario Solis (Irving, Texas).
