MONTRÉAL (Mai 30, 2017) – Les champions du monde WBC Light Heavyweight Adonis Stevenson et Andrzej Fonfara se sont exprimés lors de la conférence de presse finale mardi au Casino de Montréal pour leur match revanche à 175 livres ce samedi en direct sur SHOWTIME du Centre Bell.

 

WBC Poids mi-lourd Non. 1 Le concurrent Eleider Alvarez et l'ancien champion des 175 livres Jean Pascal se sont également affrontés pour leur combat co-présenté qui ouvre la télédiffusion SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING en direct sur 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

 

Les deux Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) et Fonfara (29-4, 17 KOs) a marqué des renversements lors de leur réunion d'action en 2014, la seule fois où Stevenson a perdu lors de ses huit combats pour le titre mondial depuis qu'il a remporté la ceinture WBC en 2013. Alors que le favori local de Montréal a été repoussé lors de son premier combat contre Fonfara, il a marqué par KO dans cinq de ses sept défenses de titre et a déclaré mardi qu'il s'attend à un KO lors du match revanche.

 

Depuis la défaite serrée contre Stevenson en 2014, Fonfara a remporté des victoires contre Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., Nathan Cleverly et Chad Dawson, et entre dans le match revanche avec un nouvel entraîneur, le célèbre Virgil Hunter.

 

Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) est invaincu et le challenger obligatoire pour la ceinture WBC de Stevenson, mais il fera face à l'épreuve la plus dure de sa carrière avec Pascal (31-4-1, 18 KOs), un ancien champion WBC des 175 livres qui a affronté certains des meilleurs poids mi-lourds du monde au cours de la dernière décennie.

« Je suis prêt car je sais que Fonfara est dangereux. Nous ne le sous-estimons pas. Je me suis préparé à tout, tout ce qu'il apporte sur le ring, je serai prêt pour ça.

 

"Je m'entraîne pour les huitièmes de finale. Emanuel Steward m'a toujours dit "les KO se vendent". Quand je monte sur le ring, je vise un KO.. Ce n'est pas une option pour moi d'y aller 12 tours.

 

«Je m'entraîne pour 12 tours, et si ça va 12 il va être puni tout le temps, mais je vais définitivement vers le KO.

 

« Je vois certaines choses que je peux exploiter sur le ring.

 

«J'ai gagné le premier combat, et je le connais très bien. Je sais ce qu'il peut faire. Je sais qu'il a changé de baskets. Virgil Hunter apporte beaucoup d'expérience, Je sais qu'il entraîne Andre Ward, et je sais qu'il est très intelligent.

 

« Je connais Andrzej Fonfara de 12 tours dans le ring. Il ne peut pas changer de style pour le moment. Il peut montrer une défense améliorée, mais après quelques tours ce sera le vieux Fonfara.

 

« Ce combat sera différent. je m'attends à un KO. Je me suis blessé à la main lors de notre premier combat, mais maintenant je suis en parfaite santé et j'espère l'assommer.

 

« Je sais que Fonfara s'entraîne dur pour prendre ma ceinture. Je sais que c'est un combattant coriace, et je sais que ça ne va pas être facile pour moi.

 

« Mon objectif est d'unifier les titres avec le vainqueur de (Sergey) Kovalev et (Autre) Quartier. Je veux l'unification, mais sinon je rendrai mon obligatoire. Si Ward gagne, je veux le combattre, si Kovalev gagne, je veux le combattre. Je suis prêt. "

 

Andrzej Fonfara

"Je suis un combattant beaucoup plus intelligent maintenant. Mentalement, Je suis beaucoup plus fort et plus intelligent.

 

«Je me suis amélioré. Virgil (Chasseur) m'a appris beaucoup de nouvelles choses. Certaines choses ont fonctionné lors de mon dernier combat avec Chad Dawson, certaines choses n'ont pas fonctionné. Mais c'était notre premier combat ensemble. Maintenant je suis prêt à tout montrer dans ce combat.

 

« J’ai eu beaucoup de succès contre les gauchers. J'aime les combattre. Chad Dawson était un gaucher, donc les deux derniers combats, les quatre derniers mois, nous nous sommes préparés uniquement pour les gauchers.

 

« Je suis prêt pour le meilleur Stevenson.

 

«Mon camp s'est bien passé. Le combat était génial. C’est mon deuxième camp complet avec Virgil Hunter et nous nous sommes beaucoup améliorés depuis le premier combat.

 

«Je ne peux pas commettre les mêmes erreurs que lors de notre premier combat. Je dois me battre beaucoup plus intelligemment.

 

« Stevenson n'a qu'une bonne main gauche. C'est le champion et c'est un bon combattant, mais sa boxe n'est pas incroyable. Il n'est pas facile, mais il n'a que des compétences de base en boxe. Il faut lui couper la main gauche et être prêt à lui lancer la droite. Nous devons le contrôler.

 

« Je dois bien commencer le premier tour et lui faire savoir que je suis là pour gagner le combat. Et je serai le nouveau champion.

 

"Je suis toujours un combattant qui va de l'avant et repousse les gars, mais je suis maintenant prêt à me battre à reculons si j'en ai besoin. Je vais montrer le meilleur d'Andrzej Fonfara cette fois.

 

"Je vais gagner le combat. Un titre mondial est la seule chose que je n'ai jamais eu. J’ai imaginé lever la main après le combat et devenir le nouveau champion WBC.

 

« Je suis prêt à remporter le titre. Mon temps est venu.

 

"Je suis prêt à être le nouveau champion du monde et je le ferai Samedi nuit. Il veut le KO, et je veux le KO, trop.

 

"Je le respecte parce que c'est le champion. Je suis venu ici pour montrer ça, ce temps, Je suis le meilleur combattant.

 

Eleider ALVAREZ

« Il a beaucoup d’expérience, mais l'expérience peut parfois être négative. Il est connu, mais il a des expériences négatives et des pertes, trop. Je ne pense pas que ce sera un facteur Samedi nuit.

 

« Mon style sera un avantage. je suis plus grand, J'ai une portée plus longue, et un meilleur coup. Mon jeu de jambes est meilleur, trop. Donc je pense que mon style est mon avantage.

 

"Je suis tout à fait prêt pour ma chance au titre. J'étais prêt pour 18 mois, mais pour une raison quelconque, cela ne s'est pas produit. Je suis prêt à affronter tout le monde. Je suis probablement dans la division la plus difficile de la boxe en ce moment, mais une fois que Stevenson arrivera, je serai prêt.

 

"Je n'ai pas attendu 18 mois pour devenir champion du monde pour rien. Je ne donnerai pas de victoire à Pascal. j'ai attendu 18 des mois pour ma chance et je ne la donnerai pas à Pascal.

 

"S'entraîner avec lui (Pascal) est un avantage, mais c'était il y a longtemps et maintenant il a changé d'équipe. Donc je ne sais pas ce qu'il a fait dans son camp d'entraînement cette fois.

 

« Marc (Ramsay) m'a appris quelques trucs, mais je connais déjà Jean Pascal car je me suis entraîné avec lui et j'ai s'entrainé avec lui pendant un moment. C'est un avantage d'avoir Marc, mais ça peut être différent et on ne sait jamais ce qu’il apportera sur le ring cette fois-ci.

 

JEAN PASCAL

"Gagner est la seule option pour moi.

 

"J'ai participé à certaines batailles, mais mon réservoir est toujours plein.

 

« J’ai fait face à une bien meilleure opposition que lui. Je ai été là, je l'ai fait sur la grande scène. C'est un gros, grand combat, et je suis déjà venu ici. C’est le problème de l’expérience : on ne peut pas acheter d’expérience. Tu dois le vivre, et je l'ai vécu plusieurs fois. Je suis prêt à être à nouveau sur la grande scène.

 

« Le camp d’entraînement s’est très bien passé. J'étais avec Roy Jones Jr. et Stéphane Larouche et nous sommes restés à Montréal pendant tout le camp. Nous n'avons eu aucun blessé et nous sommes prêts à partir Samedi.

 

« S'entraîner avec Alvarez n'est pas vraiment un avantage pour moi. La dernière fois qu'on s'est battu, c'était il y a deux ou trois ans. Je le connais, mais il me connaît aussi. En fait, j'ai deux reproches contre moi – il me connaît bien, mais son coach me connait par coeur car c'est mon ancien coach. Mais rien de tout cela n'a d'importance. J'ai fait mes devoirs et je sais quoi faire sur le ring.

 

"Pour le moment, je me concentre sur Alvarez. Après que l’arbitre lève la main et nous verrons la suite.

The undercard has been announced for promoter Dmitriy Salita blockbuster “La bagarre de Détroit” sur Vendredi, Juin 16, 2017, at the Masonic Temple in Detroit and it features an impressive mix of local and international prospects in high-stakes match-ups.
Jusque là, five exciting bouts are scheduled in support of the eight-round main event featuring two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Claressa “T-Rex” Shields (2-0, 1 KO) of Flint, Michigan, taking on Mery Rancier (7-8-3, 5 KOs) de Saint-Domingue, République Dominicaine, for the WBC Silver Super Middleweight Championship and the 10-round co-main event between undefeated Detroit cruiserweight Demetrius Banks (9-0, 4 KOs) and Detroit via Russia’s Alexey Zubov (14-1, 9 KOs).

In another of the chief supporting bouts, Detroit’s rising talent and “Roi des Grands Lacs” Ja’Rico O’Quinn (6-0, 5 KOs) returns to action in a six-round bantamweight brawl against David Martino (2-2, 2 KOs) of San Felipe, Mexique.
Also scheduled is an all-action six-round super welterweight battle between Antonio Urista (7-2, 2 KOs) de Lansing, Michigan, and highly decorated former amateur star Serdar Hudayberdiyev (3-0, 2 KOs) of Turkmenabat, dinde.

Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Women’s NABF Middleweight Champion, Claressa “T-Rex” Shields had a very special visitor at her gym yesterday, none other than all-time Michigan great Thomas “Hitman” Hearns.
Hearns, depuis Detroit, is the 1980 et 1984 Le Ring Magazine “Fighter de l'année” and the first boxer in history to win world titles in five weight divisions: welters, light middleweight, moyens, super middleweight and light heavyweight.

“I came out to see her because I want her to do well. I think it’s wonderful that a female fighter is the best from Michigan right now,” said Hearns. “The world is all about change and this is change for the better. I feel good about it. The champions from the past from Michigan are passing the torch to the next great fighter from here and that’s Claressa. The fans in Michigan should come out and help support her because she is the future.”
Shields said she was humbled to have such an all-time great supporting her.
“To have Tommy Hearns come out to my gym means a lot to me, I feel like I’m moving my career in the right direction and getting the right attention. I’m not just some girl putting on some gloves. It means a lot to be the latest big-name fighter to come from Michigan. I’m glad Tommy Hearns chose to come here and it does feel like a passing of the torch. He is very supportive and it feels great to be respected by such a great world champion.”
Shields says her training is going extremely well for her third professional and second championship fight.
“Training so far has been going really good. Nous sommes 29 days out of the fight and I’m in the best shape of my life. I trained hard for my six-rounder and that only went four rounds and I feel like I’m still in shape from that. Now I’m getting ready for eight rounds and I feel great. I’m fighting at 168 pounds and I’m at 168 maintenant. I haven’t been having weight problems and I’m eating right and running every day.”
Shields promoter, Dmitriy Salita, says Hearns indicated he was very impressed with Shields’ gym work.
“Claressa is the next boxing superstar from the state of Michigan,” il dit. “It’s a very special passing of the torch from such a living legend who lives in Detroit as Tommy Hearns. M. Hearns, who is a Detroit boxing icon and a great ambassador of the sport, was very impressed with Claressa’s skills and training regimen.”
Salita says he sees Shields’ potential for superstardom and her ability to revive the energy in Michigan boxing.

Shields (2-0, 1 KO) will face tough veteran Mery Rancier (7-8-3, 5 KOs) de Saint-Domingue, Dominican Republic for the WBC Silver Super Middleweight Championship. 22-year-old Shields went 77-1 as an amateur and won her first Olympic Gold at the inaugural women’s Olympic boxing championships, held in London in 2012. She then successfully defended her title at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
Shields turned professional in late 2016 and made history again in her last fight, when she appeared live on SHOWTIME’s popular ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération sur Mars 10 de cette année. By knocking out Hungary’s Szilvia Szabados in four impressive rounds, Shields became the first woman to ever headline a boxing event on premium cable.

Las Vegas (Avril 26, 2017) – 2 Champion du Monde temps Marcos Maidana a confirmé qu'il semble répondre & Accueillir ses fans au Las Vegas Convention Center pour la 3ème édition du Expo Fan Box qui aura lieu samedi mai 6, 2017 10 heures-17 heures, Pendant le week-end Cinco De Mayo. La boxe Expo coïncidera également avec la méga lutte entre Canelo Alvarez vs Julio Cesar Chavez jr, qui aura lieu plus tard ce soir.
Maidana apparaîtra pour la première fois à cette année’ Expo à l'Association mondiale de boxe “WBA” stand et sera gants signer, des photos et des marchandises. Les amateurs de boxe auront également une excellente occasion de prendre des photos avec “Le Chinois” la star de la boxe argentine. Les fans seront également accueillis avec surprise par Maidana et la WBA à cette année’ Expo.
Maidana est un ancien boxeur professionnel argentin qui a participé de 2004 à 2014. Il est un champion du monde de deux poids, ayant occupé la WBA (Ordinaire) super titre des poids légers de 2011 à 2012, et le titre WBA mi-moyens de 2013 à 2014. MONTRÉAL (Avril 21, 2017) – WBC Light Heavyweight Champion du monde Adonis “Superman” Stevenson will take-on hard-hitting Polish contender Andrzej Fonfara dans un match revanche de leur 2014 slugfest on Samedi, Juin 3 dans l'événement principal de Showtime Championship Boxing, présenté par Premier Champions de boxe, live on SHOWTIME from the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Televised coverage will also include a matchup of top light heavyweights as WBC number-one contender Eleider Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) faces former world champion Jean Pascal (31-4-1, 18 KOs) with both men looking to get a shot at the winner of the main event next.
Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) et Fonfara (29-4, 17 KOs) battled at Bell Centre on May 24, 2014 as Stevenson was able to survive a knockdown late in the fight to win a decision and defend his belt for the third time. Both men threw huge shots all the way until the final bell and will look to pick up where they left off on June 3.
“I’m very excited for this rematch with Fonfara, but it is going to be a short night for him because they don’t pay me for overtime,” Ledit Stevenson. “I’m very happy to be back in the ring for my first fight of 2017. I can’t wait to fight in front of my hometown fans at the Bell Centre. The first time I fought Fonfara was at the Bell Centre in 2014 and now we’re back doing it for a second time. I will put on a great, exciting show for the fans in my hometown, and for the fans on SHOWTIME.”
“I feel good that I’m back here after three years,” dit Fonfara. “I’m ready for revenge. I’m a different fighter physically and mentally. I’ve shown in a couple of fights that I’m a better fighter. It’s a great opportunity to get the rematch and be a world champion. The last fight against Chad Dawson gave me experience because it was very technical. But really all the fights since then – Julio Chavez, Jr., Nathan Cleverly and even Joe Smith – have helped me prepare for Stevenson again. I changed my team, got a new coach and a trainer, which makes me physically and mentally where I need to be for this fight. I don’t have a problem fighting in Montreal. I love Montreal. It’s a beautiful city with beautiful people. It will be a great night of boxing and I’m sure that I will be victorious on the night of Juin 3.”

Stevenson won the world light heavyweight title in June of 2013 à Montréal, via un sensationnel de 76 secondes, first-round knockout over the then-undisputed king of the division Chad Dawson. The fighter out of Warsaw, Poland bounced back from his defeat to Stevenson with a TKO victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and a decision over Nathan Cleverly in a 2015 Fight of the Year contender. Le 29-ans a remporté son premier 13 fights after moving up to light heavyweight in 2010 including wins over Gabriel Campillo, Glen Johnson and Tommy Karpency.

Originally from Haiti, Pascal and his family moved to Canada when he was a child and began boxing at the age of 13. He would eventually become one of the most accomplished fighters from Montreal. Pascal became a world champion in 2009 when he defeated previously unbeaten Adrian Diaconu. He would go on to defend the title three times, including a victory over Chad Dawson. After losing his title to Bernard Hopkins, Pascal has picked up victories over Lucian Bute, Yuniesky Gonzalez and most recently Ricardo Ramallo in addition to two challenges of former unified world champion Sergey Kovalev.

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD. (Avril 7, 2017) – WBC Champion du monde poids plume Gary Russell Jr. will make the second defense of his title when he faces top challenger Oscar Escandon Samedi, Mai 20 in themain event of Showtime Championship Boxing from the recently opened MGM National Harbor in Maryland live on SHOWTIME.
The Maryland-native Russell Jr. (27-1, 16 KOs) and the WBC Interim Featherweight Champion Escandon (25-2, 17 KOs) will battle in one of boxing’s most talented divisions that continues to deliver exciting action fight after fight. A lineup of exciting co-featured attractions will be announced next week.
“I’m a gladiator getting ready for a tough battle,” a déclaré Russell Jr. “This is going to be a huge night for my family and I’m glad that the time is here. This will be the first time as pros that I get to fight on the same card as both of my little brothers, (poids coq invaincu) Gary Antonio and (2016 U.S.. Olympien) Gary Antuanne, plus my brother Gary Allan will work all of our corners. We’re excited to get in the ring and show the fans what we’re capable of doing in the ring.”
“I’ve had to wait for this opportunity to face Gary Russell Jr. and I’m going to take full advantage of it,” said Escandon. “It’s going to be a great fight and I know the fans are going to get their money’s worth. Escandon won an interim world title at super bantamweight in 2014 when he defeated Tyson Cave in his U.S. début. He earned his shot at Russell Jr. last March when he survived an early knockdown to score a knockout victory over Robinson Castellanos in the seventh round of their showdown in Washington, D.C.
