Venegas held his own but couldn’t get his punches off like he wanted too, and Castaneda started to take over the fight. In the later rounds, Castaneda was landing three punch combinations, while boxing from a distance, finishing the fight strong. The Kansas native, who now calls Dallas home, will get the chance to win LFA gold and run his record to 8-0. That would position him as the undisputed top bantamweight prospect in the world. The powerhouse known as “Chapo” earned his fearsome nickname for his ruthless demeanor inside the Octagon. The win gave Alpar two regional titles to go along with a marquee win over Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger earlier in her career. Jones-Lybarger went on to fight for the UFC after wining RFA gold. Alpar will now look to pave a similar path. That journey begins with a shot at the inaugural LFA women’s bantamweight title at LFA 55.

 

 

 

Edwards (8-1) is widely considered the top women’s bantamweight prospect in Latin America. “La Pantera” has been unbeatable over the last three years, which includes seven consecutive wins. The 23-year-old has seven stoppage victories in her eight career wins, which includes a 57-second TKO win over Bellator vet Jessica Middleton in May and a second round armbar win over RFA vet Brenda Gonzales last month. The two wins also earned her a pair of regional titles. Now that Edwards and Alpar are both champ-champs on the regional scene, they will look to go all-in with the inaugural LFA women’s title and #1 women’s bantamweight prospect status on the line.

Selina Barrios Retains NABF Lightweight Title with Dominating Unanimous Decision Over Patricia Juarez

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (Σεπτέμβριος 22, 2018) – Tonight at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, TX, San Antonio’s female boxing sensation, Selina “Αζτέκων Queen” Γειτονιές (5-0, 2 KOs), remained undefeated with a dominating 10-round unanimous decision victory over Patricia Juarez (4-1), sister of WBC Bantamweight champion, Μαριάνα “Μπάρμπι” Χουάρες (50-9-4, 13 KOs). In the early rounds, both fighters were very active, throwing a lot of punches, but Barrios was the one landing the cleaner shots. Although Juarez was doing her best to box from the outside using a one-two combo, her power wasn’t enough to keep Barrios off her as she kept coming forward, landing her signature overhand right. Barrios hurt Juarez in round five, knocking her mouthpiece out with right hook, forcing the referee to stop the action momentarily. Juarez recovered but never was able to stop Barrios from coming forward as she continued to land thumping power shots. A clash of head butts cut Barrios on the forehead during the middle rounds, but she was never bothered by them. In the later rounds, Barrios continued to apply pressure, forcing Juarez to fight on the inside. I am training and working hard so that I can be the first female fighter to make a million dollars in the ring. I’m going to be a million-dollar baby, and my fighting style will be the reason.”

Puga, who last fought in April of 2017, was recently released from Roc Nation Sports, after a short stint with Top Rank early in his career. The hard-hitting middleweight is looking to get back on the fast track to a world title with a spectacular performance on September 8ου.

 

 

 

“I’m very happy to be part of the Prince Ranch Boxing family,” said Rudy Puga, who will most likely fight above the middleweight limit of 160 lbs. in his first fight back. “I’m very excited to be making my return to the ring in September. I’m sure there will be some ring rust that I’ll need to shed, but everyone knows I’m always looking for the knockout. If I get my opponent hurt, I’m certainly going to try to take him out.”
