ORENBURG CITY, Russia (May 28, 2016) – Last night’s M-I provocare 66 event had its share of upsets, leading with a main event split decision victory by Rashid Yusopov over defending M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion Nemkov Viktor, in Orenburg City, Russia.
Priores M-I Challenge light heavyweight champion Stephan “T-DCCC” Puetz took a unanimous 3-round decision from Andrey Seledtsov in co-pluma.
Russian challenger Yusopov (7-2-0, M, I: 4-1-0) won a hard fought 5-round split decision over defending champion Nemkov (23-6-0, M, I: 14-5-0), fighting out of Russia by way of Kazakhstan, who was making his initial title defense.
Nemkov had captured the coveted M-1 Challenge light heavyweight title this past December, taking a 5-round decision from defending champion Puetz, who had won a 5-round split decision April, 2014 against Nemkov for the title. Buchinger (30-4-0, M, I: 5-0-0), the 29-year-old from Slovakia, captured the vacant M-1 Challenge featherweight title in 2014, via a fourth-round knockout of Tural Raginov at M-I provocare 52. In his last fight this past October, Buchinger successfully defended his title with a unanimous decision over current M-1 Challenge lightweight champion Mansour “Tarzan” Barnaoui at M-I provocare 62.
Puetz (13-2-0, M, I: 4-1-0), fighting out of Germany, is an electrifying fighter who won the M-1 Challenge light heavyweight champion in 2014, accipiens decisionemNemkov Viktor at M-I provocare 46.
