SAMPSON BOXING SIGNS UNDEFEATED LIGHTWEIGHT BRYAN FIGUEROA TO A PROMOTIONAL CONTRACT

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the signing of explosive Mexican lightweight Bryan “Uşaq” Figueroa to a promotional contract.

Before turning professional in 2014, undefeated Figueroa (12-0, 5 Kos) had an accomplished amateur career in his hometown of Tijuana, Meksika. A highly skilled boxer with matinee-idol good looks, Figueroa is trained by Coach Joe Vargas at The Arena Gym in San Diego, California and managed by Gregorio Ambriz.
He joins an ever-growing stable of Sampson Boxing Mexican and Hispanic fighters that includes boxing’s hottest fighter, super middleweight top contender David Benavidez, former WBC World Super Bantamweight Champion Hugo Ruiz, top super featherweight contender Jorge Lara, former multiple-time world champion Javier Fortuna, and WBC Latino welterweight Champion Cesar Miguel Barrionuevo.
“I am honored by this opportunity to join the Sampson Boxing stable,” said Bryan Figueroa. “It is my dream to be world champion and he is the promoter who can get me there. We have seen what he’s done for other fighters like David Benavidez and this is the right move for me. I will work very hard to become another of his champions.”
Promoter Lewkowicz says he has high hopes for Figueroa.
“Bryan is a good-looking fighter with world-class skills. He can make a big splash in the lightweight division with his star potential. I am happy he and manager Gregorio Ambriz have chosen to work with me and my company. I look forward to plotting out his road to the title.”

Barrionuevo to Face Meza for WBC Latino Welterweight Championship

Lewkowicz, the only world-class promoter ever to come from Uruguay, says he’s excited about the Centro de Convenciones’ involvement in boxing and about the event itself.

FORTUNA RENEWS PROMOTIONAL AGREEMENT WITH SAMPSON BOXING

Former WBA Featherweight and Super Featherweight Champion Javier “Abejon” Bəxt (31-1-1, 22 Kos) has renewed his long-term promotional agreement with promoter Sampson Lewkowicz and Sampson Boxing.
From La Romana, Dominikan Respublikası, the 27-year-old Fortuna has won two straight since dropping his super featherweight belt in a shocker against Jason Sosa in June 2016. Sampson Boxing Congratulates Rodriguez for Winning Euro Welterweight Championship; Next Sets Sights on Paulie Malignaggi

Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing and his long-time promotional partner, Sergio Martinez of Maravillabox Promotions, congratulate the welterweight contender they co-promote, Ceferino “5 vəhşi” Rodriguez, for today’s (Dekabr 2) hard-fought EBU (Avropa) welterweight title-winning victory over France’s Ahmed El Mousaoui.
After a scintillating back-and-forth war, Rodriguez (24-1, 12 Kos), also the former WBC Latino Welterweight champion, won a split decision over the determined El Mousaoui (indi 24-3-1, 6 Kos) at the Las Palmas in Islas Canarias, İspaniya.
The victory sets up a potential showdown with former two-weight world champion Paulie Malignaggi for Rodriguez’s newly won European championship on American soil.
“I am happy to have won such a rough fight,” Səid Rodriguez. “Now I want to make history with a fight between a Spaniard and an Italian on American soil. Bring me Paulie Malignaggi.”
Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz says he hopes Malignaggi sees the historical implications of fighting for a Euro title on US soil.
“Paulie is a smart man as a fighter and commentator. I invite him to try and further his incredible career by going for this championship, which I know is important to his people back in Italy. Forget Connor McGregor and let’s make this world war happen.”
Lewkowicz says he’s very happy for his fighter’s success and for the ongoing relationship with Martinez, whom he also worked with when he was an active fighter and superstar in boxing.
“Sergio and I have enjoyed a long and successful time in boxing and I look forward to making even more boxing history, as we guide the career of Ceferino Rodriguez together, hopefully into a globally important fight against Paulie Malignaggi,” dedi.

Sergio Martinez’s Maravillabox and Sampson Boxing Sign Co-Promotional Agreement with Argentinean Amateur Star Alberto Palmetta

Former world champion Sergio Martinez of Maravillabox Promotions and Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announcing they have reached a co-promotional deal with Argentinean 2016 Summer Olympian Alberto Palmetta.

Lewkowicz, one of boxing’s great judges of talent dating back many years, says Palmetta will be an important part of his company’s plans in the coming years.

DOMINICAN KO ARTIST GUZMAN READY FOR FIRST WORLD TITLE SHOT

IBF #2 super bantamweight contender Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman (21-0, 21 Kos) is hard at work preparing for the “fight of his life” with trainer Hector Bermudez at Peter Welch’s Gym in Boston.

26-year-old Fortuna, La Romana, Dominikan Respublikası, has been a standout in boxing since his days as a decorated amateur who participated in the inaugural Pan American Junior Championships in 2003. Considered one of the most exciting fighters in the sport, Fortuna won his current title with a unanimous decision over Bryan Vasquez in May 2015. He defended it successfully in September of last year with a TKO 10 over Carlos Ivan Velasquez. Fortuna previously won the Interim WBA Featherweight Championship by beating formerly undefeated Patrick Hyland in December 2012. The powerful southpaw is also known for scoring highlight reel knockouts over formidable opponents including Yuandale Evans (ÜST 1) and Miguel Zamudio (KO 1). Fortuna is promoted by Sampson Boxing.
28-year-old Sosa, Camden, New Jersey, is of proud Puerto Rican descent. He earned his title shot and caught the eyes of the boxing world in December of last year by fighting to a surprise draw with one of the sport’s top fighters, two-time world champion Nicholas “Axe Man” Walters of Jamaica. The fight was televised on HBO Boxing After Dark. A powerful puncher, Sosa was riding a 13-fight knockout streak before facing Walters. Sosa is also known for his aggressive style and iron chin. He has been called the best fighter to come out of Camden since former world champion Dwight “Camden Buzzsaw” Muhammad Qawi. Sosa is promoted by Peltz Boxing.

Sosa just held his own and fought to a draw with one of the top junior lightweights in the world, Nicholas Walters, and it boosted his confidence level even higher.
Fortuna and Sosa are the same size, so I think that’s good. Sosa also has great sparring with another very good left hander, Tevin Farmer. They’re stablemates. Tevin is the perfect imitation, size wise, not style wise, of Fortuna.

Sosa is a great opponent that we’ll have to train hard for and be focused against. It won’t be easy but Fortuna is training hard and it should be a great fight.
Sosa is a pressure fighter and a big puncher with the left hand. He’s rugged and throws combinations.
