LAS VEGAS – November 1, 2019 - Undefeated super featherweight prospect Xavier Martinez thrilled a sold-out crowd and boxing royalty at Sam’s Town Live with one of the quickest knockouts in ShoBox: An Giniúint Nua history in the main event Friday night in Las Vegas.

It took just 21 seconds for Sacramento’s Martinez (15-0, 11 Kos) to steal the show, connecting on a solid jab with his left hand before a glancing right hand finished the job and sent Filipino Jessie Cris Rosales (22-4-1, 10 Kos) down and out in a knockout of the year candidate. Rosales’ head hit hard on the canvas and his body was left sprawled on the floor. (Martinez KO video: https://twitter.com/

)

Martinez has now scored knockouts in seven consecutive fights, including a third-round stoppage of John Vicente Moralde in his ShoBox debut in April.

I wanted to steal the show,” said Martinez. "[Rolando Romero] did his thing and I knew I had to capitalize on that. I did it in half the time (45 soicind). Everyone did great tonight. Hitchins and Kevin [Newman] both did their thing and I had to follow.

“I’m going to get back in the gym and continue grinding. I want to be the best. I have the best team in boxing right now. As long as they keep lining them up, I’m going to keep knocking them down.”

22-year-old Brooklyn, N.Y.. native and 2016 Olympian Richardson Hitchins (10-0, 5 Kos) made his television and ShoBox debut in the co-featured bout, winning a unanimous decision over Kevin Johnson (7-2, 4 Kos). Na breithiúna scóráil an bout 96-94 agus 97-93 faoi dhó.

Hitchins, who represented his parents’ home country of Haiti in the 2016 Rio Games, used his skill, speed and defense to edge the 27-year-old Johnson. Hitchins was marginally better in every category round after round, allowing him to build small but decisive leads en route to the unanimous decision. Johnson was slightly more active (52.6 go 49.8 punches per round) but Hitchins was more accurate and the more robust body puncher. Hitchins landed on 30 faoin gcéad de chuid punches chumhacht, while Johnson landed just 19 faoin gcéad de chuid, and Hitchins connected on 46 body shots compared to 30 for Johnson.

“Johnson was a solid fighter,” said Hitchins. “I haven’t been in the ring since April, but I think I did great. It was the fight that I needed. I wanted the win and I got the unanimous decision. I don’t like to rate my performance without going back and re-watching the fight. I could have closed the gaps a little better. I should have capitalized on certain moments a little better.

I’m going to run the tape back and work with my coach so we can tighten up and come out the best I can possibly be. I’m excited to see what’s next and what my team has planned for me. They’ve guided me in a great direction and I just got to do what I got to do and that’s getting these guys out one at a time until I get that title shot.”

Johnson, who performed admirably, was gracious in defeat despite disagreeing with the judges’ scorecards.

He had a good jab,” Johnson said. “It was easy to download him. I put the pressure on him and kept listening to my corner, and moved to the right and kept landing. He’s a tough fighter. Feicfidh mé a thabhairt dó go, he definitely came to fight. We both had moments throughout the fight. He did a good job of holding as the ref called, he knew how to hold when he was getting hurt. I think I was the better fighter. Sé riamh Gortaítear dom. I give him props as a fighter.

“I really want the rematch, but I doubt that will happen. I know I won. I was the better fighter at the end of the day.

In a much-anticipated rematch between two fighters with history and bad blood, Kevin Newman II (11-1-1, 6 Kos) avenged the only loss of his career, dominating Marcos Hernandez (14-3-1, 3 Kos) with a near shutout unanimous decision. Na breithiúna scóráil leis an gcomhrac 80-72 agus 79-73 faoi dhó.

Completing the full eight-round distance for the first time in his career, Newman, who is trained by former world champion Bones Adams, dominated the second half of the fight. Thuirling sé 82 punches iomlán a 46 against in rounds five through eight and was able to establish a lethal body attack that wore down Sacramento’s Hernandez, nascadh ar 79 body shots compared to just 10 for Hernandez. Newman also led 152-97 i puinseanna foriomlána i dtír agus 114-57 in power shots, while nearly matching Hernandez in punches thrown (399 go 435).

“The revenge felt so great,” said Las Vegas’ Newman, who dropped a unanimous decision to Hernandez on the undercard of Mayweather vs. McGregor in August 2017. “Overall, I dominated. I went to the body every chance I saw an opportunity. A lot of people have never seen me box like that so it’s great to show that side of me. I was a lot more offensive and I kept the attacks to the body.

“I’d rate my performance a B-, I think I could have been busier. I’m going to continue to developing and staying busy in the ring. I don’t think he expected me to come in like I did. We gave the fans a great performance that was TV worthy and I look forward to doing it again.”

Sa oscailteoir teileachraolta, undefeated knockout artist Rolando Romero (10-0, 9 Kos) extended his KO streak to five in a row and improved his knockout rate to 90 percent by dismantling previously once-beaten challenger Juan Carlos Cordones (14-2, 9 Kos) with a first-round knockout. (Romero KO: https://twitter.com/
ShowtimeBoxing/status/1190461550190120960
)

The 24-year-old Las Vegan floored Dominican Republic’s Cordones with a combination and finished the job shortly after with a flush right to the jaw. Cordones was unable to get up off the mat, and the fight was stopped just 2:14 after it started. Looking for the knockout from the opening bell, the aggressive Romero threw twice as many punches (35-17), led nine to three in overall punches landed and connected on eight of his 18 punches chumhacht.

“There’s not much to say. I promised a knockout and I saw the opportunity so I went for it,” said the exuberant Romero, who has previously stated he is the hardest puncher in the world under 147 punt. “I made him pay for coming in overweight yesterday. Ag féachaint chun cinn, I just plan on dominating whoever they put in front of me.

“I’m growing as a fighter and all I want to do is continue to put on a great performance for my fans and get to that next step in my career. I want anyone whoever wants next!"

I’m going to train hard for him, he’ll train hard for me and we’ll give the fans what they want to see.

After back-to-back KO performances this year, Newman returns with a vengeance to face the man who owns the only blemish on his record in a rematch with Hernandez. I 2017, with eight professional bouts on his record, Newman appeared on the Mayweather vs. McGregor undercard where he took on Hernandez, a tough rising prospect. After six rounds of what Newman calls, “the worst performance of my professional career,” judges ruled the bout a unanimous decision in favor of Hernandez. Newman took the loss in stride and bounced back with three consecutive wins and looks ahead to the rematch, while Hernandez is focused on repeating history.

Here is what the fighters had to say ahead of the November 1 rematch:

On training camp:

Newman: “Tá campa traenála ag dul go hiontach. We’ve been working hard day in and day out, making sure we leave no stone unturned and working on a solid game plan come fight night.

“My runs and workouts have been a little longer and harder. We’re just focusing on getting better every day and pushing as hard as we can to ensure we get the W in the rematch.

“People are going to see a slightly different version of me this time around. I won’t give away any specifics, but I’m going to shock a lot of people come fight night and they will get the best Kevin Newman.

Hernandez: “Camp has been great. Tá mé foireann iontach i mo dhiaidh. I expect him to come harder for this fight so we’re preparing for anything this time around. But we will remain smart at all times. There are things I’m taking with me this time around that I’ve learned and practiced in the gym. I’ve improved since our last fight so he better be ready.”

On what the importance of a win and the rivalry between the fighters:

Newman: “A win in this fight does a lot for my career, but it’s not just the win itself, it’s how I win that will do the most for me. Fans can expect an explosive fight. It will put me in a great place to further my career and get tougher fights, which will lead to the end goal of a title shot.

“There is definitely some animosity between us. A lot has been said, more so on his end than mine, but I just let him and his camp talk. I expect him to fight to win and I’m just going to continue to work hard like I have these past two years since the first fight. We don’t like each other, Is féidir liom a insint duit go, so this fight will bring fireworks and I’m just going to let me hands do the talking and get the W.”

Hernandez: “A second win will just prove that I am the better fighter.

“I always come to win; I train to win. My family will be in attendance supporting me and I know his will too, so this will be a fight with both of us having a lot to prove.

“There’s been a lot of talk going into this rematch, but none of that affects me. I’m just working hard and I’m going to come even stronger than the first fight. None of the stuff outside the ring really matters to me. I out boxed him and outfought him in 2017, and I plan to do the same again this time around, mixed with a few other tactics.”

How does it feel to fight on national television?

Newman: “It feels great to return and fight on national television, especially getting to fight on SHOWTIME for the first time in my career. I’m very thankful to Leonard Ellerbe and Floyd Mayweather as well as SHOWTIME for giving me this opportunity. The last time I fought on national television I put on a great display of my talent and skills, so I look forward to doing the same this time around.”

“I’m very excited for this opportunity to redeem myself. I knew this day would come, Ní raibh a fhios agam ach nuair. I’ve won fights since the first fight and had dominant performances in the process, but nothing has filled that void. This is my opportunity to do that, so come November 1, when it’s all said and done, Beidh mé a bheith victorious.”

Hernandez: “It’s my first time onShoBox and I’m thankful for this experience. Fans can expect a great fight. He’s a really good fighter and I won’t take anything from him. Moving up again will be a challenge, but I think I can beat him again.”

Xavier Martinez is one to watch for as he headlines his first ShoBox cárta. We have a very exciting line-up of fighters, both on and off-television, making for a card that you don’t want to miss.”

Martinez (14-0, 10 Kos), de Sacramento, Calif., has scored six straight knockouts, including a third-round stoppage of John Vicente Moralde in his ShoBox debut in April (Watch KO anseo). The 21-year-old turned professional in 2017 in Mexico following an amateur career where he amassed an 85-10 record while competing in the 2012 agus 2013 National Championships and earning a ranking as the No. 3 amateur in the country. Best known for his crafty and powerful fighting style, Martinez joined the Mayweather Promotions team in late 2016 with a unanimous decision win over Wilfredo Garriga at Sam’s Town Live.

“I am really excited to get back into the ring,” said the 21-year-old Martinez. “Sam’s Town has become my home away from home and I’ve had a lot of great performances there. I’m really just looking forward to putting on a great performance again on national television and reaching a larger audience. Soon enough everyone will know who Xavier Martinez is.

“Tá campa traenála ag dul go hiontach. I’ve added a strength and conditioning coach and a nutritionist. Having someone help me prep my meals and educate me on what’s going into my body has really helped me train better and get my body in the right shape. My energy level for training is different and I feel stronger.

Rosales (22-3-1, 10 Kos), 27, iompaigh gairmiúla i 2008 and started his professional career unbeaten in his first 22 bouts while competing mostly in his native Philippines. Rosales stepped up his level of opposition in 2017, losing to former two-division world champion Jhonny Gonzalez in 2017 agus 2016 Olympic Silver Medalist and undefeated prospect Shakur Stevenson in 2019. Ina bout déanaí, he lost a close split-decision to undefeated prospect Tyler McCeary. Experienced against top opposition, Rosales’ three losses have come against opponents with a combined record of 96-11-1.

“He’s undefeated, but I have far more experience with better guys so I have that advantage coming into this fight,” Rosales said. “I’m coming off two tough fights and this one is going to be another great fight to test myself as a fighter as well as a good show for the fans. I’m back in the gym working on a couple of things, and I’m coming into this fight stronger and sharper.”

Hitchins (9-0, 5 Kos), as Brooklyn, N.Y., is a former two-time Golden Gloves champion who represented his parents’ home country of Haiti in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, where he lost to team USA’s Gary Russell Jr. One of boxing’s top young prospects, Hitchins has sparred and trained with several world champions including Terence Crawford and stablemate Gervonta Davis. Just 21-years-old, Hitchins boasts incredible hand and foot speed and the boxing IQ of a veteran contender. Having fought eight out of his nine pro fights in his hometown, Hitchins will travel to Las Vegas looking for a statement win in his television debut.

I’m ready to pick back up where I left off,” said Hitchins. “I’ve remained in great shape since my last opponent fell through back in July, but it worked out because now I get an opportunity to show my talents on national television. My brother Tank [Gervonta Davis] showed me a lot of things this summer and great techniques to sharpen my skills. I’m working hard and getting work in multiple gyms across different weight classes to help me with my speed and power. I’m going to give it my all and deliver with a dominating win.”

Johnson, a Las Vegas resident, started his professional career with four consecutive TKO wins. His past four fights have all come against undefeated opposition including a split decision win over Larry Gomez, a bhí 8-0 entering the fight, in his last outing in April. Johnson’s lone loss came against 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist Fazliddin Gaibnazarov.

This is going to be an entertaining fight for the fans,” said Johnson. “I predict a fourth or fifth round knockout – that isn’t me being cocky, just me understanding what’s on the line. This is a huge fight for me and I’m going to rise to the occasion. I’m here to expose everyone I step in the ring with. I’ll fight anybody I feel is a good challenge. I’ve seen Hitchins spar Devin Haney and I’ve watched a few of his fights. He did really good, but I was able to identify some opportunities and I feel confident I can beat this kid.”

Las Vegas’ Newman started boxing when he was 9 years old and built up an amateur record of 25-5 before turning pro in 2014. Impressed by Newman’s skills and technique in the ring as an amateur, Floyd Mayweather signed the rising middleweight to his growing stable of fighters in the summer of 2014. Newman made his professional debut on the Mayweather vs. Maidana II undercard, where he fought to a draw with Azamat Umarzoda. He won his next seven contests before dropping a decision to his November 1 comhraic, Mark Anthony Hernandez, on the undercard of Mayweather vs. McGregor in August 2017. He has since rebounded with three consecutive KO wins at Sam’s Town.

“I’m thankful to my team for another fight,” said Newman. “This is my third fight this year, and I’m looking forward to putting on a show and really ending this year with a bang. Training camp has consisted of great sparring with A-level guys, including Anthony Dirrell for his fight with David Benavidez. I was able to get a lot of quality rounds in already, and this is just the beginning of my training camp. I’m extremely sharp now so we’re just maintaining that and getting my body into fight shape.”

Hernandez, 26, de Fresno, Calif., is no stranger to fighting under the spotlight. After dropping a split decision to Kyrone Davis in 2017, Hernandez bounced back with the biggest win of his career over Newman on the undercard of the blockbuster Mayweather vs. McGregor event. Hernandez was among 16 professional fighters selected to compete at 160 pounds on the 2018 reboot of An contender sraith. He earned a split decision over Danny Valdivia and a unanimous verdict over Quantavious Cash to finish behind champion Brandon Adams and runner-up Shane Mosley Jr. In February of this year, he suffered a setback in a rematch to Jeison Rosario, who he fought to a draw with in 2018, but rebounded with a unanimous decision win over Francisco Castro in his last bout.

I expect Kevin to come better than he did the first time we fought,” said Hernandez. “The first fight was a clear unanimous decision for me. I didn’t think there was any controversy. He has his reasons as to why he didn’t perform, but that doesn’t matter to me. I went up in weight to take that fight from 154 go 165 pounds so I was also coming in with a slight disadvantage, and now I’m moving up again to fight him again. I out-boxed him and out-fought him the first time and fans can expect a great fight again. He’s a really good fighter, I won’t take anything from him. Moving up again will be a challenge, but I think I can beat him again.

Rising lightweight prospect Romero, born and raised in North Las Vegas, started his boxing career at age 18 after spending much of his youth competing in Judo. Despite a limited amateur career consisting of just 45 troideanna, Romero gained the attention of Floyd Mayweather and was signed to his promotional company in November of 2016. He made his professional debut the next month and scored a TKO just over a minute into the fight. With eight stoppages in nine professional fights, Romero packs a heavy punch and will be looking for his fifth straight knockout on November 1.

It’s been a great year for me professionally,” said Romero. “I’ve been able to gain an even larger fan base since my last performance earlier this year and I’m excited to do what I do best and that’s knocking out the competition and continuing to grow as a fighter. A lot of people have doubted me for my lack of amateur experience, but my power and boxing IQ are undeniable. I’m taking the experience from my last fight and working to correct a few things. My goal is to become the most versatile fighter backed by power.”

Hall of Famer Barry Tompkins will call the ShoBox action from ringside with fellow Hall of Famer Steve Farhood and former world champion Raul Marquez serving as expert analysts. Is é an léiritheoir feidhmiúcháin Gordon Hall le Richard Gaughan tháirgeadh agus Rick Phillips stiúradh.

BROOKLYN (Márta 4, 2018) – Undefeated heavyweight world champion Deontay “An Bomber Chré-” Wilder retained his WBC title in his seventh defense with a tenth round knockout over unbeaten challenger Luis “An Real King Kong” Ortiz in a thrilling back-and-forth SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING main event Saturday night from Barclays Center, an baile BROOKLYN Dornálaíocht®.
Wilder (40-0, 39 Kos) not only survived the toughest test of his career but also finished the job in spectacular fashion by unleashing a ferocious 10ú round assault on Ortiz (28-1, 24 Kos). Wilder floored the Cuban challenger twice in the round, forcing referee David Fields to stop the fight at2:05 an bhabhta. Watch the knockout video ANSEO.
Bhí cuma ar Oritz go ndéanfadh sé dethrone Wilder sa seachtú babhta, ag troid le lámh dheas láidir a ghortaigh curadh trommheáchain an WBC. Scaoil Ortiz barrage punches i gcoinne Wilder stunned, a d'éirigh ar bhealach éigin fanacht ar a chosa chun an babhta a dhúnadh sular shábháil an clog é. Lean Ortiz dá ionsaí ar Wilder isteach san ochtú babhta, a d'éirigh leo é a dhéanamh tríd an mbabhta arís.
Sa naoú babhta, Thosaigh Wilder ag cúlú agus é ag bualadh Ortiz as cothromaíocht le lámh dheas díreach. Bhí an t-aon curaidh trommheáchain i Meiriceá ar ais go daingean sa troid agus é ag teacht i dtír ar Ortiz chun an babhta a dhúnadh., athrú go hiomlán ar an móiminteam an troid.
Tháinig an dá throdaithe amach go láidir ag tús an deichiú babhta, tuirlingthe blows comhuaineach a rinne gach Trodaire go sealadach wobbly. Ach ba é Wilder a bhain leas as an am, mar a phreab an bundúchasach Alabama ar Ortiz, a chéile comhraic a sheoladh chuig an chanbhás don dara huair den oíche le flurry na lámha ar dheis ró-láimhe. D'fhill Ortiz dazed ar a chosa, ach ní raibh sé in ann ionsaí leantach ó Wilder muiníneach a sheasamh, a thug i dtír gearrtha uachtarach a sheol Ortiz chuig an chanbhás don tríú uair agus an uair dheireanach.
Tar éis a thríú teidil rathúil a chosaint ag Ionad Barclays, labhair Wilder mhothúchánach le tuairisceoir Spóirt SHOWTIME Jim Gray faoin troid is deacra dá shaol.
“Faigheann fíor-churadh bealach le teacht ar ais i gcónaí agus sin a rinne mé anocht,” Said Wilder. “Is fear cearrbhach é Luis Ortiz cinnte. Chuir sé troid mhór ar bun. We knew we had to wear him down. I showed everyone I can take a punch.
He was hitting me with those furious punches but they didn’t have sting on them. He was throwing combos that knocked me off balance. I just had to get my range back and my fundamentals back. And I was able to do that. I showed I was a true champion anocht.”
A proud but disappointed Ortiz, who was on the brink of a sensational seventh round stoppage of Wilder before the bell rang, also spoke to Gray following the fight.
It was a great fight and I performed well,” Ortiz said. “I thought I was up on the scorecard going into the tenth round, but it’s heavyweight boxing and you never know what’s going to happen.
“Bhí sé beagnach agam agus sílim go mbeadh sé agam dá mbeadh cúpla soicind eile sa bhabhta.”
Tháinig Wilder amach Ortiz 98-87, cé go raibh buntáiste beag ag Ortiz maidir le punches cumhachta i dtír, 63-60.
I gcás comh-feiceáil de SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BoxING, Jose Uzcategui (27-2, 23 Kos) defeated Andre Dirrell (26-3, 16 Kos) via TKO dhá soicind isteach i mbabhta a naoi, ar iarratas ó thraenálaí Dirrell, Virgil Hunter. An bua, rud a fhágann gurb é Uzcategui an Curadh Domhanda Sár-mheánmheáchain IBF eatramhach, cuireann sé an Veiniséalach crua in ann troid ar son an teideal sármheáchain a thuill Caleb Truax trí chinneadh tromlaigh ar James DeGale i mí na Nollag.
Athmheaitseáil a bhí i troid oíche Shathairn den chonspóid mhór i mí Bealtaine 2017 deireadh, inar dícháilíodh Uzcategui chun pionta a thabhairt i dtír tar éis don chlog a chlos chun deireadh a chur leis an ochtú babhta. Sa rematch, Uzcategui dominated the action from start to finish, using his powerful right hand to set the stage for the withering assault which led to Dirrell’s corner stopping the fight two seconds into round nine. Uzcategui out landed Dirrell 169-141 in total punches, including a huge 112-51 discrepancy in power punches landed.
I was a little surprised they stopped it in the ninth,” Said Uzcategui. “I had said it would be the third round that I would knock him out. It took a little longer, but it finally came.
I think it was very clear in the first fight that I did my job. In the second fight I showed even more, so there’s going to be a lot of Uzcategui from now on.
Dirrell, a native of Flint, Michigan, found Uzcategui’s length and aggression difficult to deal with.
I’ve been in there with long fighters before, but he was especially long,” Said Dirrell. “I think I was a little heavier than I wanted to be anocht, but that’s no excuse. Uzcategui did a great job.
We knew we needed a knockout. The way it was going I needed to at least pick it up. I felt a little sluggish and he hit all the right shots. None of them really hurt, but he hit me where he was supposed to.
In a world title fight featured on the undercard, Long Island ar Alicia Napoleon (9-1, 5 Kos) won the Vacant Women’s WBA Super Middleweight world title with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 Kos).
It’s hard to find words to describe this right now,” said Napoleon. “It’s so surreal it’s almost like a dream. I’m just glad I did it. This is one down, but there’s many more to go. The goal is to get all the belts.
Napoleon controlled the action with her power and superior athletic prowess and wobbled Hermans in the final round before earning the decision by scores of 99-91 agus 98-92 faoi dhó.
I think this means a lot for women’s boxing, not just that I won the belt, but where I was placed on this great card,” said Napoleon. “People are going to continue to see and hear more and more from women boxers.

FLASH QUOTES

DEONTAY WILDER:

“I’m going to let the world know that the weight don’t mean a thing; it’s all mental at the end of the day. Like I’ve said, I’d rather be the part than look the part. I’ve said many a time that I put these guys on their ass, and that’s what I come to do Dé Sathairn oíche. Over and over again all my guys have out-weighed me. So that’s nothing compared to where I came from, and nothing compared to where I’m going come Dé Sathairn oíche. You’re all in for a treat and I can’t wait.

“On paper he’s looked good against the opposition he’s faced, but he’s never faced a Bronze Bomber; he’s never faced a guy who has more killer instinct than him. He’s never faced a guy who wants to just rip his head off, and I do mean rip his head off!

“I am the best and I’m ready to show ar an Satharn night that I’m the best in the world.”

LUIS ORTIZ:

“Our training camp was prepared for whatever Deontay Wilder was going to bring into the ring, whether it was a runner, or a puncher – whatever he wants to do we have trained for it so there’s no problem.

“You have to adapt and make changes come fight night, and I’m prepared to do that and I’m experienced to do that. Tá mé ag fanacht le mo ghairm bheatha ar fad chun é seo a dhéanamh mar pro agus mar amaitéarach is rud é seo nár shamhlaigh mé a dhéanfainn, agus nílim amú amárach."

DIRRELL EILE:

“Ní fhaca mé ach píosa feola, agus tá ocras orm.

“D’éiligh an IBF é seo. Bhí dhá éagóir ann ón troid dheireanach agus buaileadh mé i ndiaidh an chlog, agus bhí sé buailte tar éis an clog. Bhí an IBF ag iarraidh é sin a cheartú agus is é seo an t-aon bhealach chun é sin a dhéanamh. Tá an urchar seo tuillte aige agus tá an urchar seo tuillte agam. Is troid níos fearr a bheidh ann an uair seo.

“Tá sé ar fad faoi cad [traenálaí nua] Veirgil [Hunter] déanta le m'intinn. Tá an cumas ann, mar is eol dúinn go léir. Tá sé sin foirfe againn. Agus táimid tar éis an meon a athrú an uair seo, chomh maith.

“Tá a fhios againn go léir gur trodaire iomlán é Jose Uzcategui; is féidir leis an mbuachaill sin a chaitheamh, ach ní leor sin ach oíche na troda.”

JOSE UZCATEGUI:

“Ní bheidh ar an tag idirghabháil a dhéanamh; Bainfidh mé amach níos tapúla é an uair seo."

“B’fhéidir má fhaigheann Virgil Hunter san fháinne freisin mar sin é an t-aon bhealach a mbeidh an bua acu ná má thagann an cúinne sna fáinní. Mar sin é an t-aon bhealach a gheobhaidh siad an bua.”

Seo an méid a bhí na rannpháirtithe a rá Déardaoin:
DEONTAY WILDER
The reason I wanted this fight is not only do I think Ortiz is one of the best technical fighters in the division, ach sé an boogeyman a bhfuil gach duine ag rith uaidh. Sheachain na Seaimpíní é agus dúirt mé i gcónaí gurbh mise an ceann is fearr agus seo mo sheans é a chruthú.
“Níl an toradh seo suas ag aon duine ach mé féin. Gach uair a théim faoi na soilse geala, Tugaim don lucht leanúna cad ba mhaith leo a fheiceáil. Seo an ceann is fearr i gcomparáid leis an gceann is fearr agus sin an rud atá tuillte ag dornálaíocht.
“Bhí gach leithscéal agam ar domhan chun éalú ón troid seo tar éis dó an tástáil a theip. Tá go leor maith, meáchain throma atá ag teacht aníos amuigh ansin, ach ní raibh suim agam iontu. Is é an troid seo mar a chruthaím gurb mise an fear is measa ar domhan.
“Ar Márta 3, leis na rudaí pearsanta ar fad curtha ar leataobh, beidh sé ina onóir troid i gcoinne Luis Ortiz, fear go fear agus athair go hathair. I know that family is his motivation, just like it is for me, and that’s why I blessed him with this opportunity.
The exciting thing about Saturday night is for everyone to see what I’m capable of doing. Luis Ortiz is determined to get my WBC belt. This is my seventh defense of my title and I’ve enjoyed every one. It’s a lot of responsibility and I take it seriously. You’ll all see ar an Satharn night why I’ve said the things I’ve said.
Everyone knows what I’m expecting Dé Sathairn oíche. I can’t say it enough. I have knocked every opponent out for a reason. I plan on continuing my knockout streak. That’s what I do and that’s what I’m best at.
This is the best fight right here in boxing that can be made. Ní chuireann sé a fháil ar bith níos fearr ná sin ar an Satharn oíche. You have to be here in person, because you won’t want to miss anything. You never know what you’ll see, ach Dé Sathairn night will be bombs away.
LUIS ORTIZ
I never say anything bad about fighters because inside the ring, Is féidir le rud ar bith a tharlóidh. I respect everyone who steps into the ring. This is my opportunity. Is é seo mo am. Deontay is a great champion but this is my chance.
Like I always say, this is my time and it’s going to be a great triumph. This is big for all of Cuban boxing and I will make my country proud.
This is going to be like two trains on the same track about to collide. I’m going to win and I’m going to take his belt.
This is not a video game. This is not using controllers. You have to actually step into the ring with me ar an Satharn oíche.
Deontay is scared. He’s talking a lot of nonsense. He’s worried about what I’m going to do. Is é seo mo am. I’m going to show everyone.
“Tá mé 100 percent ready to go. Sparring has been amazing and I’m totally prepared for Deontay Wilder. Deontay’s biggest mistake is that he talks too much.
I looked into his eyes and I knew that I’m not going to lose this opportunity. I’m going to be the first Cuban and the first Latino born outside the country to win a title. Dé Sathairn night will be historic.
The public gave me this opportunity to fight for the title and beat you for your belt. I’m going to make the most of my chance and knock Deontay Wilder out.
DIRRELL EILE
It was a rocky start for me in our first fight. He caught me with a good shot in the early rounds, but I was able to fight through it. I started to dominate the second half of the fight but he had definitely thrown my game off. I still weathered the storm and made good things happen. This fight is very deserving of a rematch and I’m looking forward to it.
This fight right here is one of the beautiful moments we have in boxing. There were two wrongs that night in the last fight. I’m really happy with everyone who has made this rematch and gave the sport what it deserves.
Now Jose Uzcategui and myself both have chances to prove ourselves again. This is going to be the worst opportunity of Uzcategui’s life. But it will be the best opportunity for me.
This is my opportunity to prove all of the critics wrong this time. I’m not the favorite, and it’s a beautiful thing. I’m going to change every single mind ar an Satharn oíche. I’m stepping up to the plate, and I’m preparing to hit a home run.
Virgil Hunter has definitely helped me with my mental game. We’ve worked on a masterful game plan. Virgil is tough to work with but we did all of the necessary things we had to in order to accomplish what we have to ar an Satharn.
The next two years or more will be the best years of my career. I’ve been blessed with an illustrious career. This is a new look for me and I feel good. I have a very tough, hungry fighter in front of me and I can’t wait to prove myself.
JOSE UZCATEGUI
We’re not doing anything differently heading into this fight. I’ve put the time in at the gym every day to make sure that the fight ends conclusively this time.
Before I even got to the ring in the first fight I felt some animosity from the referee towards me and it kind of led to what happened in the fight.
Saturday night you’re not just going to see that I’m a boxer-puncher, but you’ll see my full power on display.
I’m happy to be in this rematch. I hope that Dirrell brings action like he’s talking about ar an Satharn. I don’t want to chase him around the ring all night.
I’m ready to accomplish my dreams, and that involves beating Andre Dirrell more decisively than last night and leaving no doubt at all who the better fighter is.
LOU DIBELLA, Uachtarán na DiBella Siamsaíocht
Deontay Wilder put everything aside to face one of the greatest amateur heavyweights in the history of boxing. This fight is happening because Deontay is that good and he’s that proud. Deontay is ready to prove that he’s the baddest man on the planet.
There is a sensational off-television undercard beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Barclays Center that includes a group of top contenders and prospects. It’s really a loaded undercard from top to bottom.
That great undercard includes a woman’s title fight involving Alicia Napoleon. Everyone involved in this fight has made an effort to have women’s boxing represented on our cards and I’m proud to be able to deliver that for fans.
This will be Deontay’s third defense of his title in Brooklyn at Barclays Center. He successfully defended against Artur Szpilka and Bermane Stiverne, with two frightening knockouts. I’m proud to work with Barclays Center and promote boxing in Brooklyn. This is certainly one of the best venues for boxing in the world and certainly a venue that is dedicated to bringing the fans consistently excellent programming inside the arena.
This fight is getting the kind of reception that it deserves. If you want to get tickets for Dé Sathairnoíche, I would call now because they’re moving fast.
STEPHEN Espinoza, President Sports & Events Programming, Showtime Sports Inc.
When we have a fight card like this, the network gets a lot of credit but these fights truly don’t happen unless fighters like Wilder and Ortiz are ready to take the fights.
When we announced our schedule back in January, there was one fight that jumped out to everyone, and it was Wilder vs. Ortiz. They have 67 fights between them, 67 Bhuaigh, 0 losses and 62 knockouts. This is part of what we’re calling ‘March Madness’ ar Showtime. All four heavyweight titles, the top four heavyweights in the world, including Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker on Márta 31, facing each other this month on SHOWTIME. There hasn’t been a lineup like that put together by any network in the history of the sport.
The titles are great but these fights are about something else. They’re about legacy. When people look back and ask, ‘what kind of fighter was Deontay Wilder?’ This is the fight that they will talk about. More important than knockouts and unbeaten records, this is why fighters are remembered.
Dirrell vs. Uzcategui 2 is good enough to be a main event and they deserve to have a great stage for this rematch. These are the kind of cards that people look back and say, were you there that night? If you’re not watching this card, you’re not a boxing fan. Because this is the best that the sport has to offer.
BRETT YORMARK, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Siamsaíocht
I can’t tell you how excited I am for Saturday night. People are starting to realize how viable this sport is and that boxing is a sport on the rise. We’re thrilled to be a part of it
Events like Dé Sathairn in Brooklyn are why this sport is thriving. It features a deep card from top to bottom, 50-50 fights and great fighters with magnetic personalities
“Deontay, even though you weren’t born in Brooklyn, we do consider you our own. We’re excited to have Luis Ortiz as well, don chéad uair, ar an Satharn oíche. This is a card from top to bottom that’s incredible and I’m thrilled to welcome Andre and Jose to Brooklyn.
“Tá na suíocháin ag gluaiseacht i ndáiríre go tapa agus ba cheart go mbeadh sé seo ar cheann de na troideanna is mó a bhí againn in Ionad Barclays. Tá muid ar bís don seó seo agus táimid ag tnúth le gach duine a fheiceáil ann.”

Tá Luis Ortiz ag iarraidh Stair Trommheáchain a Chruthú trí Bheith ar an gCéad Curadh Domhanda Latino nó Hispanic Trommheáchan a Rugadh Lasmuigh de SAM.

Aghaidheanna Cúba gan Ráithe Curadh Trommheáchan WBC Deontay Wilder Dé Sathairn, Márta 3 beo ar SHOWTIME ó Ionad Barclays i Brooklyn & Á chur i láthair ag Premier Seaimpíní Dornálaíochta
BROOKLYN (Feabhra 26, 2018) – Nuair a unbeaten meáchan trom Luis “An Real King Kong” Ortiz aghaidh a thabhairt ar Chraobh Meáchain Trom an Domhain WBC Deontay Wilder Dé Sathairn, Márta 3 beo ar Showtime ó Barclays Center, baile BROOKLYN BoxING™, beidh sé ag iarraidh stair a dhéanamh ní hamháin don dornálaíocht Chúba, ach do gach trodaithe Hispanic nó Laidineach.
Tá seans ag Ortiz a bheith ar an gcéad curadh domhanda trom-mheáchain Laidineach nó Hispanic a rugadh lasmuigh de SAM. agus gan ach an dara trommheáchan de shliocht Laidineach nó Hispanic chun an teideal domhanda trommheáchain a ghabháil. Ba é Massachusetts an chéad cheann’ John Ruiz, arbh iad Pórtó Ríce a thuismitheoirí agus a bhuaigh ar Evander Holyfield do Chraobhchomórtais an Domhain WBA Trommheáchan i mí an Mhárta 2001.
“Tá an troid seo tábhachtach ní hamháin do mo theaghlach, ach do stair dornálaíochta Chúba,” Said Ortiz. “Is é an t-aon fhócas atá agam faoi láthair ná ar an straitéis a bheidh de dhíth orm chun Wilder a shárú, ach tá a fhios agam go bhfuil a lán tábhacht ag an troid seo. Tá mé chun stair a dhéanamh dom féin agus do mo thír nuair a bhuailfidh mé Wilder ar Márta 3.”
Bhí triúr trodaithe ag Cúba roimhe seo san iomaíocht don teideal trommheáchain, le Jorge Luis Gonzalez ag cailleadh le Riddick Bowe in 1995 agus Vitali Klitschko an bua ag Juan Carlos Gomez araon i 2009 Odlanier Solis i 2011. Tá súil ag Ortiz a éileamh ar an echelon uachtarach de sheanchas trom-mheáchain Chúba in éineacht le Teofilo Stevenson atá trom., a bhuaigh trí bhonn óir Oilimpeach agus meastar gurb é an Trodaire Cúba is mó riamh é, ainneoin nár throid sé go gairmiúil riamh.
Lean traidisiún láidir dornálaíochta Chúba go dtí an lá inniu, le Ortiz ag iarraidh a bheith ar an 18ú teideal domhanda ón tír. I measc na trodaithe gníomhacha suntasacha as Cúba tá curadh 154-punt WBA Erislandy Lara, a throideann Jarrett Hurd i gcoimhlint aontaithe Aibreán 7 ar Showtime, agus curadh domhanda dhá rannán Rances Barthelemy, atá ag iarraidh a bheith ar an gcéad curadh trí rannán i stair Chúba Márta 10 ar Showtime.
Téann stair na trodaithe Hispanic atá ag dul sa tóir ar an teideal trom-mheáchain ar ais go dtí an comórtas legendary i 1923 idir Jack Dempsey agus Luis Firpo ón Airgintín. Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier and Larry Holmes all defended against Hispanic challengers while Deontay Wilder has beaten three Mexican-American opponents in Chris Arreola, Gerald Washington and Eric Molina.
The fourth heavyweight title fight in Barclays Center history will give Ortiz a chance to make his name not only as a world champion, but a barrier-breaker for Hispanic heavyweights.

BROOKLYN (Feabhra. 23, 2018) – MBoston contender Hugo Centeno Jr. suffered a rib injury while training and his Interim WBC Middleweight World Championship bout with Jermall CHARLO has been rescheduled for a Premier Boxing Champions event on Dé Sathairn, Aibreán 21 beo ar Showtime.
An Márta 3 SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast continues as a doubleheader beginning at 9 p.m. AGUS/6 p.m. PT from Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Sa an imeacht is mó, WBC Heavyweight World Champion Deontay Wilder will make the seventh and most difficult defense of his title against fellow-unbeaten heavyweight Luis Ortiz.
In the opening bout of the Márta 3 doubleheader, Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui will meet for the Interim IBF Super Middleweight World Championship in an immediate rematch of one of 2017’s best and most controversial fights.
Charlo vs. Centeno will now be a featured bout on the previously announced Aibreán 21 SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING telecast presented by Premier Boxing Champions. Four-division world champion Adrien Broner will face undefeated former champion Omar Figueroa and one of boxing’s brightest young stars, Gervonta Davis, returns to the ring as the 23-year-old undefeated former champion looks to regain a title in the 130-pound class.
While the injury to Centeno is unfortunate, we’re pleased to have the flexibility to keep the Charlo-Centeno fight on our 2018 boxing schedule,” Dúirt Stephen Espinoza, Uachtarán, Spóirt & Clárú Imeacht, Líonraí Showtime Inc. “An Márta 3 SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING event remains a can’t-miss night for any fight fan, with Deontay Wilder facing the most dangerous opponent of his career in Luis Ortiz, and Andre Dirrell and Jose Uzcategui settling the score in a rematch of one of 2017’s best fights.
I’m devastated.,said Centeno. “I’ve been in the gym for a long time. Being so close to a fight and accomplishing my dream of a world title it’s devastating.
It happened during sparring. I tried to work through the pain and as the day progressed and the adrenaline subsided I had to go to the ER and get checked out. It’s a good enough injury that it had to be postponed. Nothing was broken, but it was severe enough to keep me from fighting.
I was just about to peak. Now I have to taper off a bit and cut back to let my body recover and then pick it up and get some momentum back.
“Tá mé réidh le dul,” Said CHARLO. “Tá mé 167 punt ceart anois, and this was the best camp I’ve ever had. I’m so disappointed. I’m at a loss for words. When you want something so bad and you don’t get it, you can’t be a kid about it. You just have to deal with it.
I’m hungry and I’m ready to get back in the ring. I’m still coming to the fight though. I’m going be there to support Deontay. I love Barclays Center and all my fans in Brooklyn.
