Wilfredo 'Bimbito'’ Méndez will fight for the WBA Fedelatin title

After winning the Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) vacant Las Americas title last December, Wilfredo 'Bimbito'’ Mendez (9-0, 4 KO scriptor) from Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico, will seek a top ranking spot in the World Boxing Association (WBA ) when he faces Nicaraguan Leyman Benavides (13-6-1, 2 KO scriptor) for the vacant WBA Minimumweight Fedelatin title.

 

 

 

 

The Méndez-Benavides duel will take place on Saturday, March 17 at the Fiesta Hall of the Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo, Respublica Dominicana.

 

 

 

 

“The Fedelatin title is of upmost importance because it places the boxer in the top 15 of the WBA rankings and in a matter of two or three additional fights, the opportunity to go for the world title is very possible. We trust in ‘Bimbito’s’ skills so that on March 17, Puerto Rico will have another boxer close to a world title opportunity” said Raúl Pastrana, President of management company ‘Spartan Boxing Club’.

In his last fight in Santo Domingo, DR last December, Méndez defeated Dominican Republic’s Juan Guzmán (22-10, 12 KO) by TKO in the second round to capture the UBF belt.

After defending his belt twice, Pedraza lost his belt earlier this year in an upset to Gervonta Davis, and is now looking to rebound. “My lack of activity and struggling to make weight at 130lbs definitely affected my performance in my last fight,” says Pedraza, “but I am working hard and looking forward to coming back soon. I think the Lightweight division is where I will make my mark and am excited to get back in the ring.”

In his last fight on New Year’s Eve of 2015, Flores unsuccessfully challenged then-World Boxing Association (WBA) Super world super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama (23-0-1) in Tokyo, getting stopped in the third round.
Flores’ only other pro loss was in 2012 to current WBC super featherweight world champion Miguel Berchelt, while his two draws were both on the road in Mexico and Costa Rica.
Flores (pictured to right on the scale) is a past WBA Fedebol lightweight title holder, as well as former World Boxing Council (WBC) FECARBOX and International Boxing Federation (IBF) super featherweight champion. He has proven to be a dangerous, upset-minded opponent having defeated previously unbeaten boxers Marcos Mojica (12-0-2), by way of unanimous decision, atque Gabriel Dorado (9-0) via a first-round knockout.

Vallis, who hails from Bayamon, meets unbeaten Diego De La Hoya, 15-0 (9 KO scriptor), Saturday evening over ten rounds in what is expected to be a classic Puerto Rico vs Mexico slugfest. The bout opens an HBO PPV telecast starting at 9 PM headlined by the junior middleweight championship fight between pound for pound superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and reigning WBO champion Liam Smith. The card takes place a short distance from Dallas in Arlington, TX at AT&T Stadium, best known as the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Del Valle on bout with De La Hoya: “Expect fireworks”

Bayamon, PR (August 23, 2016) – Super bantamweight contender Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle is not one to waste time in the squared circle.

Currently the International Boxing Federation’s #8 praeferebantur CONCERTATOR, Del Valle scored 16 eius 22 victories by knockout including nine within the first three rounds. Yomar Alamo grabs gold in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico

Before a euphoric crowd who attended the coliseum Samuel ‘Sammy’ Rodriguez of Aguas Buenas, loci ventus, Yomar ‘The Magic’ Alamo ( 11-0, 8 KO ) scored a impressive second round TKO over Edgardo ‘Indio’ Rivera ( 7-4-2, 5 KO ) to capture the WBC FECARBOX super lightweight title.
This match marks the first WBC fight held in Aguas Buenas.

Del Valle excited for Tri State Area return

Bayamon, Puerto Rico (July 20, 2016) – As a teenager, Luis “Orlandito” Del Valle left his native Puerto Rico for Newburgh, NY where he resided for seven years. During his time in the Empire State amateur ranks, he made great strides in the ring and won multiple highly-competitive tournaments, most notably capturing the 2004 National Golden Gloves title.

As a pro, Del Valle had his first fight in New Jersey, hoisted the WBA-NABA championship in New York and Connecticut was the state that hosted his first appearance on HBO. Altiore, half of his 24 professional fights took place in the tri state area and the bilingual Del Valle built a solid fan following. Autem, he hasn’t fought in the area since 2012.

On August 27, that will change when Del Valle battles an opponent to be announced in a ten round super bantamweight bout at the Bayonne Pavilion in Bayonne, New Jersey.
