Philadelphia (May 27,2015)—This Friday night at the Stadium Holiday

Inn in Philadelphia, King’s Promotions presents a great night of championship boxing that will headlined by 10-round UBF Lightweight championship bout between Frankie De Alba (15-1-2, 5 KO’s) and Bernardo Gomez Uribe (14-3, 10 KO’s).
In one of the 8-round co-features, Steve Upsher Chambers (24-4-1, 6 KO’s) returns to the city where he cut his teeth as a professional to take on Alejandro Rodriguez (24-16-1, 14 KO’s) in a Jr. Welterweight bout.
Chambers, who came originally to Philadelphia with former Heavyweight title challenger, “Fast” Eddie Chambers, fought 23 times and the famed Blue Horizon in Philadelphia and will be making his first start in the City of Brotherly Love in almost 6 years.
“I have been training hard and working on opening my new gym with (Lightweight contender) Rod Salka,” said Upsher.
“I am on weight already and I feel good.  We will be fighting at 142 pounds.”
Upsher is ready to show the fans how far his abilities have grown since he turned pro in Philadelphia in 2003 when he was just 18 years old.
“I am happy to be coming back to Philadelphia.  I want to show people how far I have come and see the improvement that I have made as a fighter.”
Despite losing his three bouts to the likes of former world champions Luis Collazo and Andre Berto as well as then-undefeated prospect Eddie Gomez, Upsher was competitive in all those bouts and grew tremendously from those experiences.
“It showed that I can compete against that level of fighter.  Plus everyone of those guys was bigger than me.  I am a natural 140 pounder and can make 135 if the right opportunity presented itself.”
Chambers went back to his native Pittsburgh to train in neighboring city Coal Center, PA.
“My mind is set on winning a world title at 140 pounds.  After the three losses, I cant afford any missteps.  People see about the losses.  I know I have the ability to be a world champion and on May 29 that will start to show.”
On the veteran opponent, Rodriguez, Upsher said, “I know he is tough and from Mexico.  I will look at a little film before the fight and go from there.  I really don’t worry about what he will do.  He should worry about me.  This fight is redemption for me.  It’s a start  and then I would like to right all of the losses.  But first I am looking for a dominant  performance on Friday then I want to end all doubts.”
An outstanding undercard has been assembled.
In 6-round bouts:
Farah Ennis (21-2, 12 KO’s) of Philadelphia will fight Michael Gbenga (20-19, 20 KO’s) of Accra, Ghana in a Super Middleweight bout.
Former U.S. Olympian, Raynell Williams (7-0, 4 KO’s) of Cleveland, OH will take on an opponent to be named in a Lightweight bout.
Welterweight Miguel Cruz (8-0, 7 KO’s) of Lake Mary, FL battles Juan Rodriguez (6-2-1, 5 KO’s) of Haymarket, VA..
Samuel Figueroa (7-0, 4 KO’s) of Ansco, PR will fight Jose Valderrama (4-9, 3 KO’s) of Arecibo, PR in a Welterweight bout.
Brandon Bennett (18-1, 7 KO’s) of Cincinnati, OH will square off with Rondale Hubbert (10-1-1, 6 KO’s) of Minneapolis, MN in a Lightweight bout.
Demond Nicholson (12-1, 12 KO’s) of Laurel, MD will battle German Perez (11-1, 3 KO’s) in a Middleweight bout.
Leo Hall (5-0, 5 KO’s) of Detroit, MI will risk his perfect mark against Lawrence Blakey (2-3, 1 KO) of Pennsylvania in a Light Heavyweight affair.
Caleb Plant (6-0, 5 KO’s) of Ashland City, TN will fight Jason Zabokrtsky (3-1, 3 KO’s) of Kansas in a Middleweight bout.
Rounding out the card in a 4-round bout will be Christopher Brooker (2-0, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia fighting pro debuting Santario Martin of Gainesville, FL in a Super Middleweight bout.

Philadelphia (May 13,2015)-–On Friday night,May 29, boxing comes to the Stadium Holiday Inn (900 Packer Avenue) in Philadelphia where some of the best names in Philadelphia boxing will be featured on a card promoted by King’s Promotions.
In the main event, Frank De Alba will compete for the UBF  Lightweight title against Bernardo Gomez Uribe in a bout scheduled for 10-rounds.
De Alba of Reading, PA has won 13 straight fights to raise his impressive mark to 15-1-2 with five knockouts.
The 27 year-old De Alba has wins over Andrew Bentley (1-0) & Benjamin Burgos (1-0). He won the UBF All Americas Super Featherweight title with 5th round stoppage over Pablo Batres. He has made two defenses of the belt which includes his last outing when he won an 8-round unanimous decision over Jose Bustos on February 21.
Uribe of Guadalajara, Mexico has a record of 14-3 with 10 knockouts.
The 25 year-old has won six in a row with the latest being a 7th round stoppage over Antonio Sanchez on April 19.
In one co-feature, light heavyweight Farah Ennis will be in action in a 8-round bout against Michael Gbenga
Ennis of Philadelphia has a record of 21-2 with 12 knockouts.
This will be the 32 year-old Ennis first bout in 22 months.  He has wins over Scott Sigmon (1-0), Bobby Jordan (6-0-1), Shujaa El Amin (11-2), Richard Pierson (11-2) and Anthony Hanshaw (23-2-2).  Ennis captured the NABF Super Middleweight title with a win over Victor Lares.    Ennis coming off a loss to current WBC Super Middleweight champion Badou Jack on July 19, 2013.
Gbenga of Accra, Ghana has a record of 20-19 with all 20 wins coming via knockouts.
Gbenga has fought top competition such as Dean Francis, Ilunga Makubu, Andre Dirrell, current WBC Super Middleweight champion Badou Jack, Lennox Allen, Issac Chilemba, Travis Peterkin, Joe Smith Jr., Derrick Webster, Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Trevor McCumby, Phillip Jackson Benson and in his last bout when he dropped an 8-round decision to Medzhid Bektemirov on April 18.
In a second co-feature, jr. welterweight Steve Upsher will compete in an 8-round bout against Alejandro Rodriguez.
Upsher of Philadelphia has a record of 24-4-1 with six knockouts.
The 30 year-old, turned professional in 2003 and went 24-1-1 win his first 26 bouts.
He has wins over Michael Weaver (2-0-1), Darrell Crenshaw (1-0) and Bayan Jargal (15-3).  he is trying to break a three-fight losing streak where he took on former world champion Luis Collazo and undefeated prospect Eddie Gomez.  His is coming off a decision loss to former world champion Andre Berto that took place on September 6, 2014.
Rodriguez of Guadalajra, Mexico has a record of 24-16-1 with 14 knockouts.
Rodriguez has solid wins over John Carlo Aparicio (12-1), Ivan Perez (10-2), Daniel Evangelista (11-0-1), Hugo Hernandez (12-3-1).  In his last bout, Rodriguez won a 8-round unanimous decision over Fernando Ayala on May 2.
Also appearing in 8-round bouts will be undefeated welterweight Miguel Cruz (8-0, 7 KO’s) of Lake Mary, FL, Featherweight Brandon Bennett (18-1, 7 KO’s) of Cincinnati, OH, and Middleweight Demond Nicholson (12-1, 12 KO’s) of Laurel, MD.
Taking part in 6-round bouts will former U.S. Olympian Raynell Williams (7-0, 4 KO’s).  Williams will fight in a lightweight bout scheduled for 6-rounds
Rounding out the card in a 4-round bout will be undefeated super middleweight Christopher Brooker (2-0, 2 KO’s) of Philadelphia.

Alyson DeRenzis wins Boxcino Bracket Challenge

Philadelphia, PA (May 6, 2015)— Banner Promotions is pleased to announce that Alyson DeRenzis has taken first place in the Boxcino Bracket Challenge.
Alyson will take home the grand prize of two ringside tickets to the Boxcino finals that will take place on May 22 in Corona, California, a full roundtrip for two to the finals, complete with a hotel stay and meals for two, as well as a guest invitation to the pre-fight weigh in and post fight press conference.  Alyson will also receive two Boxcino t-shirts.

ORANGE, Calif. (May 5, 2015) – Junior middleweight Brandon Adams (16-1, 12 KOs) is returning to a familiar situation. After coming up short in last year’s Boxcino finals and suffering the only loss of his career, the Los Angeles-native dropped down one weight class and fought his way back to the 10-round championship fight.

Adams faces the smooth boxing skills of John Thompson (16-1, 5 KOs) of Newark, New Jersey on Friday, May 22, from the Omega Products Outdoor Arena in Corona, Calif. in the Boxcino 2015 junior middleweight championship.

The Boxcino Finals is televised on ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” (ESPN2 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) and is co-promoted through Arthur Pelullo’s Banner Promotions and Ken Thompson’s Thompson Boxing Promotions.

“Everything is good, training is going well,” Brandon Adams said. “I‘m still in shape from my last fight and I’m coming to get what is mine. I’m going to put on a performance that will make everyone proud.”

“My training camp has been great,” John Thompson said. “I‘ve been working hard, staying hungry. I have one day on my mind and that is May 22nd.”

In the co-feature, heavyweight talents Donovan Dennis (14-2, 11 KOs) of Cleveland, Ohio and Andrey Fedosov (27-3, 22 KOs) of Russia will meet in a 10-round fight to determine the Boxcino 2015 heavyweight champion.

Dennis and Fedosov have electrified the crowds leading up to the tournament finals. They both showed off their freight train like power by knocking out their respective opponents in the Boxcino quarter and semifinals.

“I’ve been in Los Angeles for training camp, getting good sparring,” Donovan Dennissaid. “I know Andrey will be ready, and so will I.”

“I’m glad that I’ve made it into the finals of this great tournament on ESPN,” Andrey Fedosov said. “I‘m training very hard in Los Angeles and I’m confident that I will win the fight.”

“I’m looking forward to the Boxcino finals,” said Artie Pelullo, president of Banner Promotions. “The finals will be terrific with two exciting and compelling fights.”

Provodnikov popular at Mayweather – Pacquiao

Philadelphia, PA (May 4, 2015)— This past weekend in Las Vegas, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fought in what was the most anticipated bout in a generation.  Several big name fighters were in attendance, but the one who appealed most to the hundreds of thousands of fans who flocked Sin City for the fight was “The Siberian Rocky” Ruslan Provodnikov.
Provodnikov posed for hundreds of pictures and signed countless autographs.  He also participated in “Radio Row” where he talked on a plethora radio stations from around the country.
Provodnikov was also spotted and recognized by “A-List” celebrities who actually asked to take their pictures with the Jr. Welterweight star at the HBO/Showtime pre-fight,red carpet party.

Two-time world champion Steve “USS” Cunningham signs with Al Haymon

Philadelphia (April 21, 2015)–Former two-time world cruiserweight champion and current Heavyweight contender, Steve “USS” Cunningham has signed with adviser Al Haymon.
Cunningham of Philadelphia is excited about the prospects for his future.
“I’m looking forward to working with Al, he’s a genius at what he does.  I’ve been watching him for several years and seeing all that he accomplishes for his fighters but have always been on the outside looking in due to contractual obligations.  It finally lined up to where we can work together and it’s going to great.  I believe my best fights have yet to be seen,”said Cunningham
Cunningham has a record of 28-7 with 13 knockouts.  He won the IBF Cruiserweight championship when he traveled to Poland and defeated Krzysztof Wlodarczyk on May 26, 2007.  He defended the title by stopping Marco Huck via 12th round stoppage in Bielfield, Germany on December 29, 2007.  Cunningham became a two-time champion on June 5, 2010 when he stopped Troy Ross in five rounds.
Cunningham is coming off a controversial split decision defeat to Vyacheslav Glazkov on March 14 in Montreal.
Steve and his wife/manager Livvy will be honored this Friday night at the 90th annual BWAA Awards dinner as they will receive the Bill Crawford Courage Award for their perseverance while their 9-year old daughter Kennedy went through a life saving heart transplant last December.
The awards dinner will take place at Capitale in New York City.

John Thompson reflects on Boxcino semifinal win and looks forward towards the final on May 22

Newark, NJ (April 21, 2015)— John “Apollo Kidd” Thompson has begun preparations for his May 22 Boxcino final bout against Brandon Adams. (17-1, 12 KO’s).
The fight will take place on Friday, May 22 in Corona, California and will live on ESPNFriday Night Fights.
Thompson is in Virginia, training under Kay Koroma and he is looking to win the prestigious tournament against Thompson in the 10-round bout at the Omega Products International Outdoor Arena in Corona, California.
Thompson (16-1, 5 KO’s) is coming off a 8-round split decision over previously undefeated Stanyslav Skorokhod on April 10 in Bethlehem, PA.
“I outboxed the guy,” said Thompson.  I focused on what I needed to focus on and that was using my jab.    I also focused on not to exchange and bang with him and I did a pretty good job of that.”
“As well as I fought, I do not think that was even my best win.”
Now he looks towards Adams.  Adams of Los Angeles has experience in the Boxcino finals as his only loss was to  Willie Monroe Jr. in last year’s Middleweight finals.
“I am happy to be in the finals.  This is an opportunity that will be the uprising of my career,” continued Thompson.
“Brandon is a brawler.  He will have a few weeks to come up with a strategy to beat me.”
Said Thompson’s promoter, Vito Mielnicki of GH3 Promotions, “I believe we are longer, been in tougher and the better boxer.  Brandon is a good fighter but I think he is too green.  I know he had a brief amateur career and he could be too green for John.”

Prize Promotions Tabs Russell Peltz and Brittany “Bam” Rogers for Matchmaking Duties

Danbury, CT (April 16, 2015)- At the beginning of April, newly licensed Connecticut boxing promoter A.J. Galante introduced his company, Prize Promotions. Galante spoke of his goal of bringing “Old School” boxing to Connecticut.

To prove he is serious about his vision, Galante has turned his matchmaking over to Hall of Fame Philadelphia promoter, Russell Peltz along with one of the sports youngest and most promising promoters and matchmakers, Brittany “BAM”

Rogers.

“Russell is the definition of Old School matchmaking, he’s one of the last out there, so it was a no brainer for me to reach out to him, and I am honored that he is willing to work with me.” Galante stated, “His resume speaks for itself, I am extremely confident that working together, we will put on spectacular shows”  Galante was also extremely excited to work with Brittany “BAM” Rogers, who works in conjunction with Russell Peltz,

“I’m often referred to as one of the youngest boxing people on the business side of things, but BAM is actually younger than me, and has been in the sport longer than me. I have a lot of respect for her and have been learning a lot through working with her.”

Ultimately Galante said what cemented his choice on his matchmakers, was a trip to Philladelphia in October, to attend a show promoted by both Peltz and Rogers, “When you think Philly boxing, you think gritty and exciting, and you can’t think Philadelphia boxing without Russell Peltz and Brittany Rogers, and I am looking forward to bringing those types of shows and that environment here to Connecticut.” It won’t be long for Galante to fulfill his promise, as his first show Danbury Fight Night, will take place onMay 30th at the Danbury Arena, in his hometown of Danbury, CT.

Boxcino 2015 Jr. Middleweight and Heavyweight semifinals to be held on Friday, April 10 at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA

Philadelphia (March 31, 2015)–It is less than two weeks away from the semifinals of the Boxcino 2015 heavyweight and jr. middleweight tournaments that will take place on Friday night, April 10th and will be held at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA.

 

The show will be televised live on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights with the Boxcino semifinal fights beginning at 9 PM ET.

 

All semifinal bouts are scheduled for eight rounds.

 

In the heavyweight division, Andrey Fedosov (26-3, 21 KO’s) will take on Lenroy Thomas (19-3, 8 KO’s).  Fedosov is coming off a first round pounding of Nate Heaven while Thomas won a 7-round drawbreaker over former U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada.

 

In the second semifinal, Razvan Cojanu (13-1, 7 KO’s) will take on Donovan Dennis (11-1, 9 KO’s).

 

Cojanu is coming off a 7-round drawbreaker win over Ed Fountain while Dennis stopped Steve Vukosa in 4-rounds.

 

In the jr. middleweight division, Stanyslav Skorokhod (9-0, 7 KO’s) battles John Thompson (15-1, 5 KO’s).

 

Skorokhod was very impressive in taking out Michael Moore in four rounds. Thompson took a six round unanimous decision over Ricardo Pinnel.

 

Brandon Adams (16-1, 11KO’s) battles Vito Gasparyan (15-3-5, 8 KO’s).

 

Adams stopped Alex Perez in five rounds while Gasparyan won a six-round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Simeon Hardy.

Steve “USS” Cunningham chimes in on controversial decision in Glazkov fight

Philadelphia (March 17, 2015)–In the aftermath of his IBF elimination bout this past Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal, former two-time cruiserweight world champion and current heavyweight contender Steve “USS” Cunningham wants to state his case  to what the boxing world saw, and that is the wrong man had his hand raised.
The viewing public saw that Cunningham controlled the bout and out landed Vyacheslav Glazkov in eight of the twelve rounds with jabs being virtually even and Cunningham landing more power shots to the tune of 123-84.
In total, Cunningham out threw Glazkov by 208 punches and out landed him 180-144 over the twelve round battle.
“The numbers, the perception, the video, none of it lies,” said Cunningham.
“Look at the stats. Look at his face.  The man spit out his mouthpiece three times because he really had no answer for what I was doing to him.  I was hurting him to the body.  His corner even pleaded with him that he needed a knockout in the final round to beat me.  Somehow two judges gave him eight rounds and another gave him seven.  Why bother fighting if this stuff is going to happen?  I outworked him, out landed him and beat him every which way possible.  He was considered the puncher coming into the fight but as the fight progressed it was me walking him down trying to make him fight.”
“When will the fans get tired of all these bad decisions?  What can the fighters do about that?  It has to be the fans that pay the money.  Look at my rematch with Tomasz Adamek and now this fight.  Right now, I should be a mandatory challenger to fight for the Heavyweight championship of the world but because of these terrible judges, I have to ponder my next move.”
