Olympic champion Kyle Snyder, Olympic medalist J’den Cox, World medalists James Green and Nick Gwiazdowski lead the USA against Cuba; Jordan Burroughs and Jordan Oliver also in Super Matches

 

NEW YORK– Olympic and World medalists headline the United States lineup against Cuba in men’s freestyle for the Beat the Streets Annual Benefit, dubbed the “Rumble on the River,” set for Mai 17 at Pier 17/Seaport District in lower Manhattan.

 

 

These U.S. stars will face a talented Cuban team of men’s freestyle wrestlers as part of the exciting card of international competition. Cuba also brings a veteran team with past Olympic, World and Pan American medalists.

 

 

2016 Olympic champion and two-time World champion Kyle Snyder will compete in the Beat the Streets Benefit for the fourth time in his career. Snyder was a three-time NCAA champion and four-time finalist for Ohio State, and also boasts a Junior World title. He will face 2013 ja 2014 World silver medalist Reineris Salas Perez juures 97 kg at the Rumble on the River.

 

 

2016 Olympic bronze medalist and 2017 World bronze medalist J’den Cox will enter his second Beat the Streets Benefit, after also competing in 2016. Gwiazdowski won two New York state high school titles, then started his college career at Binghamton, where he was an All-American. “The Gwizz” transferred to NC State, where he was a two-time NCAA champion and three-time finalist. He will battle two-time Pan American Championships silver medalist Yudenny Alapajon Estevez juures 125 kg/275 lbs.

 

 

 

Another native New Yorker on the roster is four-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake, who is in his second Beat the Streets Benefit after competing in the 2013 Rumble on the Rails. Dake was a two-time New York state champion and three-time finalist for Lansing High School, and went to nearby Cornell. Dake became the first wrestler to win four NCAA Div. I titles in four different weight classes. He has been on four U.S. Freestyle National Teams. Dake will wrestle 2012 Olympic bronze medalist and three-time World medalist Livan Lopez Azcuy juures 79 kg.

 

 

 

The other U.S. entry against Cuba is Josh Rodriguez, who will compete in his first Beat the Streets Benefit. Rodriguez was a three-time NCAA qualifier for North Dakota State, and is currently training full-time in freestyle at the Nittany Lion WC at Penn State. Rodriguez was third in the 2017 U23 World Team Trials. He will face 2017 U23 World champion Reineri Andreeu Ortega is competing at 57 kg.

 

 

 

This is the second time a Cuban team has competed in a Beat the Streets Benefit. A team of men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers were included in the 2015 Beat the Streets Benefit “Salsa in the Square,” held in Times Square.

 

 

 

Two other U.S. men’s freestyle stars will compete in Super Matches against opponents who are not from Cuba. 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs will battle two-time World champion and Olympic medalist Frank Chamizo Itaalia, and American standout Jordan Oliver challenges two-time Olympic Medalist Togrul Asgarov Aserbaidžaani.

 

 

 

The Beat the Streets Benefit will have a wonderful variety of competition. NEW YORK–In keeping with this month’s Beat the Streets Benefit as a celebration of the great sport of wrestling, BTS is pleased to announce three new key elements of the blockbuster event, dubbed “Rumble on the River,” set for Mai 17 at Pier 17/Seaport District in lower Manhattan.

  • For the first time, BTS will offer a $25 general admission ticket, good for admission to all of the match action, beginning with youth matchups at 2:30 and including the Team USA men and women’s international event and concluding Super Matches. Fans can find their tickets at http://www.btsny.org/events/annual-benefit/2018-benefit.
  • A Super High School Match has been scheduled, and it’s a real winner, pitting the nation’s top scholastic 126-lb. star in Patrick Glory of Delbarton H.S. (N.J.) against third-ranked Gavin Teasdale of Jefferson Morgan H.S. (Pa.). au, heading to Princeton in the fall, and Teasdale, who will attend Penn State, will wrestle at 130 lbs.

NEW YORK — FloSports, the innovator in live digital sports and original content, today announced an agreement with Beat The Streets Wrestling, to air its annual Beat The Streets New York City event on Thursday, Mai 17, at Pier 17/Seaport District in lower Manhattan. Coverage will be available live and on-demand exclusively on FloWrestling.com for the fourth consecutive year.

 

 

Kicking off the benefit, the top Beat the Streets youth wrestlers will take to the mat showcasing their skills in exhibition matches. Lisaks, several youth matches will be held featuring athletes from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. The Benefit will also feature the PSAL Girls Freestyle Dual Meet Championships finals for the third straight year. The matches will exhibit the top New York City girls freestyle wrestling high school teams from the spring girls freestyle season.

 

 

Directly after, Team USA will then take on an international squad, with video highlights and special guest appearances made throughout the event. Jordan Burroughs of the United States and Frank Chamizo Itaalia, will compete in the headliner super match. Rosters for both American squads and their respective international opponents will be announced at a later date.

 

 

The Benefit Celebration at Pier 17 will directly follow the wrestling competition. This unique and electrifying annual event helps Beat the Streets raise significant funds to further its mission. I did fight in the shadows of (Mike) Tyson and Roy (Jones. Jr.).

 

 

 

“I fought in the Army with Ray Mercer, stung Evander Holyfield in sparring. My best fight, kuigi, hurt me the most. I was so sharp against a fighter from Kronk Gym, Vincent Boulware, in my third world title defense that year (1993). Boulware had won six of his last seven fights with four knockouts and I was just becoming a decent name, If I beat him, I was supposed to fight Tommy Hearns or Iran Barkley, who were both moving up to cruiserweight. I had the best fight of my career, but I couldn’t get any of the other world cruiserweight champs to fight me. I only had four fights in the next three years. I moved up to heavyweight because the same guys who I beat when they were my mandatory challenger (Uriah Grant & Nate Miller) worked their way back into the mandatory position.”

 

 

 

Cole grew up in Atlantic City, where he fought 18 korda, and he got to know a casino owner, Donald Trump. “We hung out,” Cole remembered. “Trump invited me to some of his private parties. I never thought he’d be president!”.

 

 

 

Mesi (36-0, 29 Kos) was so popular in Buffalo, he was considered the upstate New York city’s third sports franchise (Bills and Sabres). A top American amateur, “Baby Joe” fought professionally between 1997 ja 2007, racking up 36 victories without a defeat, yet he never to a world title shot due to a medical issue. Ranked as high at No. 1 Maailma poks Nõukogu (WBC) Mesi was suspended by the Nevada Commission, after he defeated former world champion Vassily Jirov by way of a 10-round unanimous decision, due to a head injury (brain bleeds).

 

 

 

Mesi was virtually blacklisted in boxing, losing two full years in the ring, while he pursued legal action to get re-licensed, which he eventually was but only by a few commissions. Joe fought seven times after being re-licensed, but he was unfortunately limited in terms of where he could fight, and he never regained the lofty status he had once held. In addition to Jirov, Mesi defeated notables such as Monte Barrett, DeVarryl Williamson and Jorge Luis Gonzalez.

I’d like to do some more TV announcing in boxing and, maybe someday, get into promoting. I’m really looking forward to the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame induction ceremony.”

The 24 year-old is a native of Brooklyn, New York had a stellar amateur career that saw him win 17 National championships beginning at 11 years old when he won the National Silver Gloves championship.

 

 

 

 

Ceballo, who began boxing at 8 years-old won 11 National titles as a junior and 6 National titles as a senior which includes the 2016 Rahvuslik Kuldkinnaste tiitel, 2017 United States National Title.

 

 

 

 

Ceballo also captured the 2014 World Series of Boxing Team Trials, and was a Olympic trials semifinalist.

I would talk to other managers, some who appeared to offer me better deals, but I decided to sign with him because I had a great relationship with him, and I liked him as a person. Ceballo sees himself as a player in the competitive 147-pound division.

Sosa battles Wilmer Rodriguez at The Kings Theatre

Queens, New York (Märts 9, 2018) – Undefeated welterweight Julian Sosa will be featured in his 1st main event homme night when he takes on once-beaten Wilmer Rodriguez at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York.

The eight-round bout will headline a Evander Holyfield Real Deal Boxing event.
Sosa is managed by El Matador Management.
Sosa, who will be fighting in front of his hometown fans in Brooklyn is very enthusiastic to be on the top of the bill.
“Learning that I was the main event gave me some extra motivation as I would down my camp,” said Sosa, who has a record of 10-0-1 koos 3 knockouts.
“Being that this is my 1st fight this year, It means more that I am headlining.”
“This has been my longest camp. I have been working very hard for seven weeks, and I am more than ready for Laupäev.”
Sosa is just starting to round into professional career, and he feels the best is yet to come.
“It has been quite a journey . It took me a few fights to transition from amateurs to the professionals. I had never fought without headgear. It took me about four fights to get used that and some of the other little things that are different. I am now very comfortable and settled in as a professional.”
In Rodriguez, he is facing a tough veteran, who has a record of 9-1, with his only loss coming to world champion Abner Mares.
“I have seen a few videos of him. He is a counter puncher with a “Philly Shell” defense. He stands in place, and he looks to counter.”
Sosa is looking to put on a show for his fans that he has not performed in front of since winning a four-round unanimous decision over Erick Martinez on October 14th Barclays Center.
“I am sorry that it has been five months since my last fight. I need a break, I have been fighting a lot. I am back and I am ready to roll. This is my first eight-round bout, and I am the main event. This is a clean start of the year, and I am ready to open eyes.”

Märts 7, 2018 – New York, NY – Competitors and fans alike braved the elements as Mother Nature’s “bomb cyclone” struck the area, selling out the first two nights of Metro’s The Road to the Garden event. World champion Iran Barkley and five-time Golden Gloves champion David Villar were among the luminaries witnessing the events, along with former New York State Athletic Commissioner Melvina Lathan. Yonkers PAL saw ten exciting bouts in the 152 nael (welterweight) Novice class, with nine going to a decision and one stopped by the referee:
