New England Tournament of Champions 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship NOVICE CLASS SEMIFINALS RESULTS
LOWELL, Mass. (February 11, 2016) – Team Central had the edge in last night’s novice class semifinals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 70th annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Team Central had five individual winners, followed by Team South and Team West with three victories and Team North had two. The novice class finals of the N.E. Tournament of Champions will be held Thursday, Feb. 18 at Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Fight of the Night was the light heavyweight match of the novice class as Team South’s Henry Ventura (N. Dartmouth, MA) overcame two knockdowns to defeat Team North’s Tyler Jacques (St. Albans, VT) who was dropped once and also had a standing eight count, by way of a unanimous decision (5-0).
Three remaining Central New England (Greater Lowell) open class final matches were also held last night. See all results below, as well as the remaining 2016 schedule.

Proceeds from the Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship go towards sending the New England Golden Gloves champions to the National Golden Gloves Championship (2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah), in addition to supporting local athletes and area gyms, the Boys & Girls Club, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, cancer funds, scholarships and many other great charitable causes.

130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships Hosted by John Ruiz’ Quietman Sports Gym: Finals this Saturday in Plymouth
MEDF0RD, Mass. (November 25, 2015) – The finals of the 130th annual USA Boxing New England Championships, hosted by Quietman Sports Gym, will be held this Saturday night (5 p.m. doors open, 7 p.m. first match) at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts..
Quietman Sports Gym, located in Medford (MA), is owned and operated by two-time world heavyweight boxing champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz, the first and only world heavyweight champion of Latino heritage.
The 2015 USA Boxing N.E. champions in each weight class of the open division will advance to the USA National Championships. Below are the pairings for Saturday night’s championship finals:
