NEF TO DEBUT IN NEW HAMPSHIRE; WELTERWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT ANNOUNCED

UŽ nedelsiant paleisti: Milford, Naujasis Hampšyras (Birželis 7, 2021) - Naujosios Anglijos Kovų (NEF) announced today that the fight promotion will return with its next event, "NEF 44: Back in Black,” on August 21, 2021.  The show will originate from the Hampshire Dome in Milford, New Hampshire and will feature a mix of both mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and kickboxing fights. It will be NEF’s long-awaited debut in the Granite State, and it will also be the promotion’s first event since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in the spring of 2020.

NEF’s previously-scheduled event, “NEF 43: Siautėti,” which was postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic, is still awaiting a rescheduled date at the Collins Center for the Arts at UMaine Orono. NEF executives hope that date will be sometime later in the fall, but at press time they were still waiting on a decision from the Combat Sports Authority of Maine on re-opening the regulation of MMA and boxing events in the state without restrictions.

“Fighters and fans have waited long enough,” declared NEF promoter and co-owner Nick DiSalvo. “With Maine not fully open for combat sports events yet, the Hampshire Dome and the New Hampshire Boxing Commission presented the perfect opportunity to get fighters back in the cage and active again before summer was over.”

NEF further announced today the first fight confirmed for the “NEF 44” card in Milford would be an amateur welterweight title contest. Duncan “The Highlander” Smith (5-3), who has held the promotion’s 170-pound championship since June 2018, is scheduled to defend against number-one-contender Mike “All Class” Bezanson (5-0).

Reigning champion Duncan Smith is a perfect 3-0 in the NEF cage. His last defense of the title was at “NEF 38” in April 2019 when he defeated John Tefft (2-1) via unanimous decision. Smith represents Evolution Athletix based in Saco, Meino.

“I’ve never felt more complete and confident in all aspects of living,"Sakė Smithas. “I am extremely excited to showcase my skills against a game opponent before I enter the pro ranks. A lot can change in two years.”

Undefeated Mike Bezanson is regarded by many as one of the most exciting competitors on the entire New England scene. He is known for his flashy striking style and explosive finishes. Bezanson represents Team Kaze of Lancaster, Naujasis Hampšyras.

“I’ve been sitting like a caged lion this last year because of COVID,” stated Bezanson when reached for comment. “Waiting eagerly for everything to open up just like everyone else. I’m very excited to be able to get back in there to perform for everyone!  I can assure you this will be the same game plan as all my previous fights. I’m going in there for two reasons, to knock out whoever is in front of me and walk out with a belt over my shoulder.”

“With everything opening up and restrictions being lifted, there is a lot to get excited about,” said Bezanson’s coach and Kaze Dojo owner Greg Williams. “That being said, nothing excites me more than seeing Mike Bezanson bringing his unique brand of violence back to the NEF cage! He is a rare talent and I believe he will eventually realize himself on the highest level. Another amateur belt is just icing on the cake. We all look forward to seeing New England’s best amateur 170 prospect and how he has evolved in the past year!"

LOWELL, Mišios. (Sausis 20, 2018) – The 72nd annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championships continued last night with Central New England (didesnis Lowell) novice and open class action at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Novice quarterfinals and semifinals matches were held last night, as well as preliminary bouts in the open division. The female championship bout in the middleweight class was also held last night, in which Amesbury’s (MA) Jessica McFadden edged Brookline’s Samantha Surface, 3-2.
The Fight of the Night was an open-class welterweight showdown between Salem’s (MA) Čarlis Espinal and Amesbury’s Kenny Lawson, which Espinal won by a score of 5-0.
“It was a good night,” Naujosios Anglijos auksinių pirštinių vykdomasis direktorius bobby Russo sakė. “Good weather helped draw a big crowd, the largest of the season so far. There were a lot of good matches, some open division to go along with the novices. The Espinal-Larson match was the best of the night, a war from start to finish. It was the type fight you didn’t want either fighter to lose. Espinal had a little better boxing and experience that carried him to victory.”

2017 New England Golden Gloves Team Champion – Western New England

LOWELL, Mišios. (Kovas 3, 2017) – Western New England won its fourth consecutive New England Tournament of Champions open class team title last night in the grand finale of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, istorinėje Lowell memorialinėje auditorijoje.
Western NE had seven individual winners to earn the Bill Hoar Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Team. Northern New England finished second with three individual winners and Central New England had two.

Western New England bantamweight Nathan Martinez, who defeated Joseph Valdez on points last night, was named the recipient of the Thomas Costello Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Boxer.
Norther New England lightweight Liz Leddy won her sixth All-New England title with a close points win over Kelsay Kaiser, while three-time National Golden Gloves champion Rashidi Ellis (Centrinė Naujosios Anglijos), who is the No. 2 rated lightweight in the United States, took a decision against defending N.E. čempionas Lyndsay Kyajohnian.

I will offer the Team New England head coaching position to Luis Rosa from the winning Western New England team. We’ll also be brining Carlos Garcia (veteran coach from Worcester), who will be inducted into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.)

LOWELL, Mišios. (Vasaris 24, 2017) – Twelve novice division champions were crowned last night in the men and women’s finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, istorinėje Lowell memorialinėje auditorijoje.
Central New England edged Western New England, 6-4, to win the team title and receive the George McGuane Award. Northern New England had the other two individual winners.
The much-anticipated showdown in the light welterweight bout lived up to its billing as Alejandro Paulino, of New London (KT), defeated Tyngsboro’s (MA) Nathan Balakin, 4-1. Paulino was presented the Louie Ayala Memorial Award as the Outstanding Boxer. Jose Ayala, Louie’s brother, made the presentation.
“We had another big, enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed watching some great matches,” sakė bobby Russo, Naujosios Anglijos auksinių pirštinių vykdomasis direktorius. “The novice division finals had so many good matchups. Paulino versus Balakin was a very good fight. Dabar, we move on to next week’s open division semifinals and finals of the New England Tournament of Champions.”
