FOX SIGNS DEVELOPMENTAL DEAL WITH NEW ENGLAND FIGHTS

Lewiston, Maine (Lub yim hli ntuj 27, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, is proud to announce the signing of “Sleepy” Norman Fox (4-2) to an NEF developmental deal. The deal will see Fox make his professional debut with the promotion in the flyweight division in early 2016.

 

“I’ve had a pretty successful run as an amateur with NEF, but it’s time to take things to the next level,” said Fox. “No one has seen what I’m fully capable of, but they will soon enough. The flyweight division is mine.”

 

A member of MMA Athletix in Bath, Maine, Fox debuted with NEF as an amateur in the summer of 2013. He won his first four fights in NEF all via stoppage. Fox is considered a rising star in a very thin, but burgeoning, regional flyweight division.

 

“We couldn’t be happier to have Norman with us as a professional,” said NEF co-owner and matchmaker Matt Peterson. “Norman has developed as an amateur inside the NEF cage and is now ready to tackle the pro flyweight division. Norman is an exciting signing and we’re proud to have him as a part of the NEF roster. There’s a good chance that 2016 will be the year of the Fox.”

The first live event in the Combate Americas series will air on Hnub plaub, September 17 tom 11 p.m. LI/8 p.m. PT. from The D in Las Vegas, Nev., just in time for the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Combate Americas is the groundbreaking, live MMA fight series created specifically for U.S. Hispanics who are passionate about the artistry and action of the sport. Fans can tune into NBC UNIVERSO to watch these modern day gladiators enter the cage to compete for a chance at glory.

The Combate Americas fight series comes one-year after Combate Americas – the competition reality series, made history by becoming the first fight-themed program ever to win a major television award – “Best Variety or Reality Series,” at last year’s 29th Annual Imagen Awards. Tus Combate Americas reality show aired on NBC UNIVERSO (formerly mun2) and was a fan favorite among U.S. Hispanic viewers.

In the main event of the live NBC Universo telecast of the Combate Americas kick-off event on Thur., Sept. 17, two-time UFC veteran and Miletich Fighting Systems prodigy Ramiro “Junior” Hernandez (17-7) of Muscatine, Iowa will square-off with hard-hitting KO artist Max Ceniceros (7-2) of La Mirada, Calif. in a featherweight (145 lbs.) main event showdown. Ceniceros is seeking his seventh consecutive victory, after finishing four of his last six opponents by way of (T)KO or submission.

Also on the fight card that night will be Combate Americas reality series stars J.C. Llamas (5-5) thiab Ricky “El Gallero” Palacios (3-1), who will make their respective second starts in the Combate Americas cage.

The runner-up in the reality series competition, Llamas of Bakersfield, Calif., will square-off against aggressive-minded finisher Ozzie “The Outlaw” Alvarez (6-2) of Brea, Calif. in a welterweight (170 pounds) contest. Palacios of Mission, TX will face Benji “The Brawler” Gomez (4-4) of Ventura, Calif. in a bantamweight (135 pounds) matchup.

In a featured women’s strawweight (115 pounds) bout, Invicta FC veteran Nicdali “The Night Queen” Rivera-Calanoc (8-8) of Tulsa, Okla. will collide with power puncher Katy “Red Dragon” Collins (2-1) of Branson, Mo.

BELLATOR, WSOF & CFFC VETERAN STEPS IN TO FACE HEYLIGER AT NEF XIX

Lewiston, Maine (Lub yim hli ntuj 24, 2015) – New England Fights (NEF), America’s number-one regional fight promotion, will hold its nineteenth mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event, “NEF XIX,” Rau hnub Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine. Earlier today, the promotion announced that Sidney “Da Gun” Outlaw (4-1) had stepped in to replace Brandon Chagnon (5-4) in a professional welterweight bout against Darrius Heyliger (4-2).

 

Outlaw is a veteran of the national stage, having competed for Bellator, Ntiaj teb Series ntawm sib ntaus (WSOF) and Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) in the past. He trains out of Dante Rivera BJJ. Prior to going professional, Outlaw had a stellar amateur career of 7-1 and captured several regional titles across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

 

“This is an elite fight,” said NEF co-owner and promoter Nick DiSalvo. “You have two athletes who are maybe one or two solid wins away from getting the call up permanently to the major leagues of the sport. We always tell our fans to come see these guys now before you can see them on national TV and pay-per-view. This fight definitely falls in that category.”

(Lub yim hli ntuj 20, 2015) – Bellator MMA’s Featherweight Championship will be defended in the main event of“Bellator 145: Vengeance,” but another exciting 145-pound tilt will also emanate from Scottrade Center in Saint Louis on November 6, when former champion Pat “Paddy Mike” Curran (21-7) meets Justin “The American Kid” Lawrence (8-2).

 

The contest will take place during the main card of “Bellator 145: ‘Vengeance,” which airs live on Spike at 9 p.m. LI/8 p.m. I, while preliminary bouts will stream on Spike.com at 7 p.m. LI.

LAS VEGAS (Lub yim hli ntuj 19, 2015) –World Series of Fighting (WSOF.com) announced today that it has signed two more marquee athletes – lightweights (155 pounds) Jason High thiab Mike Ricci – to exclusive, multi-year fight agreements. The promotional debut of each fighter will be announced soon.

“We are pleased to welcome Jason High and Mike Ricci, two extremely talented and exciting athletes, to our roster,” said World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo.

“Our lightweight division is expanding at an aggressive pace,” continued Sefo, “and both Jason and Mike will surely add depth to the competitive pool of athletes in this weight class, and provide us with the means to create some highly compelling matchups with potential title fight implications.”

The 33-year-old High (18-6) of Kansas City, Mo. earned the fight world’s attention for the first time six years ago during a stint at welterweight (170 pounds) with the Japan-based promotion Dream, where he notched a first round (:59) submission (rear-naked choke) victory over Yuya Shirai followed by a split decision win over Andre Galvao on April 5, 2009 and July 20, 2009, respectively.

After an impressive, unanimous decision conquest of rival star Jordan Mein on U.S. soil on Aug. 26, 2010, High returned to Japan where he edged out a split decision over all-time great Hayato Sakurai on New Year’s Eve that year.

High’s stock has continued to rise with successful performances in the now-defunct, former number two promotion in the world, Strikeforce, followed by his move to lightweight.

Ricci (10-4) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada is a 29-year-old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt trained by famed Georges St. Pierre-mentor Firas Zahabi. Like High, he has faced and defeated stiff competition under some of the world’s top promotional banners.

When he makes his World Series of Fighting debut, Ricci will hunt for his third straight victory, following a first round (3:57) TKO (punches and elbows) of road warrior Jorge Gurgel on Feb. 28, 2014 and a unanimous decision over George Sotiropoulos on Aug. 22, 2014.

Two lightweight tilts will also emanate from The Lone Star State, when Jose Flores (3-0) meets Guillermo Gonzalez (3-0) thiab Guilherme Farias da Costa (3-0) faces Jared Chaffe (4-1). A black belt in Kyokushin karate, the 33-year-old Teixeira has been racking up titles in striking competitions for more than a decade. Teixeira reached the pinnacle of standup fighting in 2008, when he earned that year’s K-1 World Grand Prix in Fukuoka title and then fought his way to the K-1 World Grand Prix Final’s championship bout. Teixeira turned his attention to MMA in 2012, and has remained undefeated through his first three professional contests in the sport and is now ready to try his hand at MMA’s highest level.

 

Queiroz will be making his fourth appearance under the Bellator MMA banner when he enters the cage on September 25. A veteran of Ultimate Fighting Championship, “Spartan” has never allowed one of his seven professional victories to reach the judges’ scorecards. The Team Nogueira standout was slated to compete against Cheick Kongo tom “Bellator 106: Chandler vs. Alvarez 2” but an injury derailed the tilt. After an inactive 2014, the 31-year-old will look to change the tide in 2015.

 

Further down the preliminary bouts, Jose Flores will make his Bellator MMA debut and look to keep his undefeated record intact in the process. The 27-year-old has finished all three of his fights on the regional circuit via submission. He will be going up against Gonzalez, who shares a perfect record through his first three professional bouts. Both fighters fight out of McAllen, TX, just a short drive from the State Farm Arena.

 

Another pair of talented local prospects will look to wow the home crowd when Guilherme Farias da Costa aims to stay unbeaten against Jared Chaffe, who most recently suffered the first loss of his professional career after the doctor stopped his fight due to a severe cut.

 

In another fight that will see someone’s undefeated record come to an end, San Diego’s Bryce Mejia will meet Abdul Razak Alhassan, who trains out of Arlington, TX.

The preliminary fight card, which will stream live on WSOF.com prior to the five-bout, live NBCSN telecast of the event’s main card, is highlighted by the promotional debut of battle-tested road warrior Isaac Vallie-Flagg, the quick return of streaking Clifford “Big Cat” Starks, the U.S. debut of undefeated finisher Vagab Vagbov and a total of nine of the Phoenix area’s top professional prospects.
