BOSTON, Misa. (Listopad 14, 2019) – The National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA) will present the “West Point Fall Classic” on Sunday, Studeni 10, kod Ante u Malden, Massachusetts.

Members of the West Point boxing team will compete against amateur boxers from USA Boxing New England, University of Connecticut, Trinity College, Hartford College, and the University of Massachusetts.

WORCESTER, MASS (Svibanj 16, 2019) – Tri puta, Svjetski prvak dva podjela “Gallo” Jose Antonio Rivera is dedicating his 50^th profesionalna borba, the last in his hometown of Worcester, to the Boys & Girls Club in Worcester, Massachusetts. A portion of the proceeds from “Quest For 50,” presented by Shearns Boxing Promotions (SBP) and Rivera Promotions Entertainment, will benefit the Boys & djevojke Klub.

The 46-year-old Rivera (42-6-1, 25 Kos) faces former WFC champion **Travis “Sweet Feet” Scott** (19-5, 5 Kos), of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in the eight-round main event at The Palladium in Worcester.

Rivera, a full-time court officer in Worcester, has had a special relationship for more than 30 years with the Worcester Boys & Girls Club and its director of boxing, **Carlos Garcia**, koji je “The Godfather of Worcester Boxing.”

Rivera moved to Worcester from Springfield 30 years ago at the age of 16 to pursue a boxing career, which included being coached by Garcia. Rivera had siblings and other relatives living in Worcester and after living with an aunt for a month, Jose moved into an apartment with another boxer, four-time national amateur champion **Bobby Harris**.

“The Worcester Boys & Girls Club helped me stay off the streets so I could focus on my dream of becoming world champion,” Rivera remembered. “It was a place for me and so many others to go and be safe. Kids, not just boxers, can be kids there, where they don’t have to worry about what’s happening in the streets.

“Carlos has played a tremendous part of my life and so many others, influencing us not only to become good boxers, but to be good people in the community. That was always so important to him and he emphasized being a good person. Ja sam moje najbolje. He was always fair across the board and gave us all opportunities. He took a liking to me and brags that he never had to throw me out of the Boys & djevojke Klub. I graduated from high school and went after my dream in 1992 when I turned pro. Carlos is big in amateur boxing, but not so much with pros, because he doesn’t have the time to train pros. I made sure that when turned pro, tough, that he was part of my team. And he’s still a big part of my team and life.”

The number of Worcester youths Garcia has had a positive effect on, life-changing in many respects, is countless. One of those many people is Jose’s longtime friend and his current head trainer, **Sean Fitzgerald**, who retired as a boxer in 2001 s 29-2-2 pro zapis. “Fitzy” remembers the fir time he read the sign over the door in the gym at the Boys & djevojke Klub: “Better to seat than bleed.”

Fitzy lived with his father when his parents divorced and at the age of 10, his father sent him to the Boys & Girls Club to attend an after-school program. “Fitzy” said he had to earn his way into Garcia’s good graces.

“Carlos didn’t talk to me for the first 5-6 tjedni,” Fitzgerald explained. “Onda, he put me in the ring as a sparring partner, and I was badly beaten. I had a bloody nose and black eye, but the next day I came back, and the rest is history. Carlos was a great mentor, rough at times, but always there for you. I remember seeing the boxing team jackets. It intrigued me. When I got my jacket and started wearing it, I got respect from everybody, and then I knew that I belonged. I learned a lot about life at the Boys & djevojke Klub, being with there with people from different generations and cultures. I met many friends there who I never would have met.

“The Boys & Girls Club is safe. I was from a tough area in Worcester. My father worked and it was easy to get in trouble with no supervision. Carlos stayed on top of me to graduate from school and if I was home sick, he come buy with chicken soup to make sure I was alright. My father was in my life big-time, but I joke that I had two moms growing up, my father and Carlos. Going to the Boys & Girls Club was something to look forward to every day.

“Carlos always taught us to never make the mistakes he did in life. He wanted us to go to school, stay out of trouble, and be a good person. He’s helped so many people over the years. Look around Worcester and you’ll see them: police and court officers, fire fighters, and so many others. The Boys & Girls Club was a great experience for me and so many other kids from Worcester.”

Garcia has been the director of boxing at the Worcester Boys & Girls Club since 1982. Two year ago, Garcia was inductred into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.

“Never in his life has Jose even raised his voice to me,” Garcia commented. “He treats me like his father and he’s like one of my sons. There aren’t not too many guys like him and he’s so well respected in the community. He came to Worcester from Springfield to train with ne and stayed with me. Jose helps everyone and now he’s promoting to help local boxers.

“We’re at the Boys & Girls Club to and that’s the way it really is here. It’s so good to see so many in this community who’ve gone through our boxing program and are good people, good husbands, good parents. It makes me feel so proud. ‘Fitzy’ was a hyper kid. He’s a real gentleman who now does so much for kids here. I’ve never had a signed contract with any of the pro boxers I’ve worked with because I trust them.”

“I truly feel I am ready to take on anyone in the Top 10.”, explains the confident young fighter who just celebrated his 25th birthday in January.

“I hope to be in position for a mandatory shot at the WBA world title by the end of the year. I am staying focused, having a great training camp and I intend to make a statement to the rest of the division on May 10th.”

In dual co-features, two undefeated boxers from the Murphys Boxing stable will see action on the card that will stream live exclusively on UFC Fight Pass, the world’s largest subscription service for combat sports.

**NABF Jr. Featherweight Champion**, **William Foster III** (9-0, 6 Kos), who fought 5 puta 2018, will enter the ring for the second time this year against an opponent to be named in a 6 round junior featherweight bout. Power punching prospect, **Carlos Gongora** (15-0, 12 Kos) will take on Argentina’s **Damien Ezequiel Bonelli** (23-6, 20 Kos) in an 8 round middleweight bout. The 2x Olympian from Ecuador won the **WBC South American Middleweight Title** this past February in his native country against then undefeated **Jesus Aviles** with a highlight reel KO.

Gongora, who is on the cusp of a world ranking, is in talks for his national television debut this summer and is hoping a big win against a fellow power puncher like Bonelli will seal the deal.

In keeping with the event’s international spirit, Murphys Boxing latest signing, **Luis Arcon Diaz** (6-0, 6 Kos), an undefeated **Olimpski** from Venezuela will return to action against Argentina’s **Jose Aubel** (8-3, 7 Kos) u 6 round welterweight bout. Diaz who made his east coast debut last month against Zach Ramsey, looked sensational, dropping the usually durable veteran multiple times before scoring a second round stoppage to continue his KO streak.

Representing the Boston area, **James Perella** (2-0, 2 Kos), who turned professional last month on Murphys Boxing’s **St. Patrick’s Day Clash** and followed up his knockout debut just two weeks later on Murphy’s **Mayhem at Melrose** kartica, will look to make it 3 straight KOs when he takes on an opponent to be named in a 4 round welterweight bout.

Coming off the heels of the sold out **4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Clash** which has amassed over **225,000** online views, **Murphys boks** is proud to announce the creation of the **Warrior’s Code Award** to celebrate the achievements of New England’s most legendary boxers.

The award’s first recipients will be **2019 Međunarodni Boks Hall of Fame** inductee,**Tony DeMarco** and one of Massachusetts’ most decorated amateur boxers, **Mike D’Ampolo**.

Both fighters will be presented with their awards next **Petak, March 29th** at the Murphys Boxing event at **Memorial Hall** u **Melrose, Massachusetts**.

Na **87 godina star**, Tony DeMarco holds the distinction of being **boxing’s oldest living world champion** and has been a beloved figure in the Boston sports world for over half a century.

Known as ‘Nardo’, the Boston fighter of Italian descent, turned pro unbelievably just a few years after the end of World War II. U 14 year career, DeMarco went 52-12-1 while fighting during boxing’s golden age. His legendary battles with Hall of Famers like **Carmen Basilio** a **Kid Gavilin** made DeMarco a star and he won the **welterweight world title** u 1955 protiv **Johnny Saxton** at the original Boston Garden in a fight that was voted one of **Boston’s Top 10 Sports Moments**.

DeMarco, who still can be found ringside at Murphys Boxing events and whose statue resides in Boston’s North End where he still lives, will receive the long overdue honor of joining the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a 2019 inductee this June.

“Murphys Boxing has always been very welcoming to me and my family.”, explains DeMarco.

“They have a true respect for boxing’s history. It’s an honor to be given their first ever award just months before entering the International Boxing Hall of Fame. I am looking forward to the evening.”

Joining DeMarco will be Melrose’s own, Mike D’Ampolo, who is considered one of the most successful amateurs ever to come out of the state of Massachusetts.

D’Ampolo was a New England Golden Gloves Champion, a **3x New England AAU Champ**, a **2x Eastern Regional Champion** and participated in the **1984 Olimpijske Suđenja**barely missing a spot on the legendary **1984 USA Olympic Team** with his weight class ultimately being represented by none other than **Evander Holyfield**.

On advice from his father, D’Ampolo made the decision to not enter the professional ranks and went onto become a successful businessman with his company, M&L Transit Systems based out of his hometown of Melrose, Massachusetts.

“I’m humbled. Back when we were fighting, there wasn’t much recognition or credit given to amateurs.”, says D’Ampolo.

“I used to be in the paper back then but it’s been a long time and I’m just very grateful to Murphys Boxing for remembering and honoring me here in my hometown.”

Murphys Boxing founder, **Ken Casey** explains the promotion’s decision to name Demarco and D’Ampolo as the first two recipients of the award named after one of the Dropkick Murphy’s signature songs, “The Warrior’s Code” which is a tribute to another New England boxing hero, **Micky Ward**.

Kennedy, despite hailing from Gorey, Ireland where he works full time as a policeman, borio 10 njegov 13 professional fights in the New England area and actually considers Boston his boxing home.

In just 5 short years, Murphys Boxing has become the premier boxing promoter in the New England area and one of the hottest young promotions in the country. 2018 was a breakout year for Murphys Boxing as they took their first fighter to a world title. Along with the promotion’s first champion, several Murphys Boxing fighters secured world title opportunities and nationally televised fights in 2018. Murphys Boxing closed out their banner year by co-promoting the WBO Middleweight Championship bout between Demetrius Andrade and Walter Kautondokwa in front of over 10,000 fans at the TD Garden, the legendary home of the Boston Celtics, which was broadcast internationally on DAZN.
