QUINCY, מאַסע. (ויגוסט 6, 2017) – Former New England welterweight champion דערעק “The Surgeon” Silveira defeated former world title challenger מיכאל “קאַלט בלוט” קלאַרק last night (שבת, אויגוסט. 5) אין די “Fight Night at the Bay” הויפּט געשעעניש, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ.
Silveira (12-1, 6 קאָס), of Salem MA) used his height and length advantage to out-box the much more experienced Clark (44-16-1, 18 קאָס). Due to what appeared to be a broken right hand, Clark was unable to continue after six rounds.
נאָך דעם קאַמף, Silveira got done on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Ashley Myers. (She accepted).
“I want to thank Michael Clark,” Silveria commented. “My buddy Martin passed away and this fight was for him. We’re back and can go as long as needed because I’m in better shape. I’m a smart fighter and I can counter guys. I hope to be back fighting סעפּטעמבער 30in Boston.”

“It’s tough to judge,” said the Polish native who lives in nearby Marshfield (מאַ) regarding her position for another world title shot opportunity. “איך האָפֿן אַזוי. I respect her but I felt that I should implement my sharper skills. She fought hard and came at me. I thought she’d go flat in the later rounds but she didn’t.
“I’m always tough on myself, Wayne (לאָפּעס, her trainer and husband) was happy. I feel that I should have taken it to her more and I got caught up in clinches too much. The heat was difficult, I felt heated before the fight. I was more tired than usual and I let her come in winging wild punches.”

Iraq War veteran and Quincy’s favorite son, Chris Traietti (24-4, 19 קאָס), who is also co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”, pounded Nick Lavin (5-6, 4 קאָס) from the opening bell to capture the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship by way of a decisive eight-round unanimous decision. Traietti teed-off on the over-matched Lavin for most of the fight, but his tough Connecticut opponent lasted to the very end.

O’Han, דזשוניער. decked Amaro twice in the first round via perfectly placed left hooks but Amaro persevered and went the full distance.
Undefeated Irish junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (4-0, 3 קאָס), fighting at home in Quincy, methodically broke-down Demetrius Thomas (0-5), dropping him with a right hand in the second round, and floored him with a flurry of punches en route to a third-round stoppage only moments later by referee Ryan.
Two-time Ecuador Olympian קאַרלאָס גאָנגאָראַ (9-0, 8 קאָס), קאַמף פון ברוקלין (ניו יאָרק), thoroughly outclassed Texas journeyman Larry “Slow Motion” סמיט (10-34-1, 7 קאָס)by way of a fifth-round technical knockout. Gongora, a powerful southpaw promoted by Murphy’s Boxing, started the fight firing crisp combinations to the head and body of Smith, who took a knee for an eight-count in the opening round. The action slowed through the second and third frames, but Gongora picked up the pace in the fourth, as Smith took a knee again and survived another round. The undefeated Ecuadorian middleweight closed the snow in the fifth as referee Steve Clark halted the one-sided bout.

Undefeated prospect Irvin Gonzalez (6-0, 6 קאָס), 21, headlines at home in his first scheduled eight-round bout, קעגן Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 קאָס), פון בראנקס (ניו יאָרק), for the vacant UBF All-American super featherweight championship.
“I am excited to be able to have our first world championship boxing match on our ‘New England’s 3’ באָקסינג געשעעניש,” promoter Jose Rivera commented. “It’s special because it’s a women’s World Heavyweight title fight with veterans like Sonya and Laura, who also have some hostilities towards one another. They’ve both earned this opportunity to fight for the UBF Women’s World Heavyweight Championship. I expect fireworks and know fans will be in for a treat.”
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time אין 11 יאָרן, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro גאַרסיאַ, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, for the World Boxing Association (וובאַ) World super welterweight title.
Born in Greece, Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 קאָ), who grew-up in Turners Falls (מאַ), is a teacher in New York City. She is a Springfield College graduate and has two Master’s Degrees. “I’m honored to be fighting in the first world title fight in Worcester since Jose Rivera,” Lamonakis said. “I’m from Massachusetts and I fought twice at Mechanics Hall (אין Worcester, including her pro debut in 2010). I heard Jose was promoting shows in Worcester, so I called to say I’d like to fight for a world title on one of his cards. I think he saw me fight before and he quickly agreed.
“This is still a make-dominates sport. I tell young girls to box as a side job. I have two Master’s Degrees and I’m a full-time teacher in New York. Boxing is my hobby. Very few women can make enough money boxing to make a good living. I don’t know if it’s because I was born in Greece and boxing is in my blood, but I love this sport and that’s what keeps me going. I guess I was born to fight. I enjoy getting in the ring. I’ve gotten a lot from boxing and now I’m giving back to amateurs in New York City as president of a youth organization.”
Lamonakis; is a former International Boxing Organization World and New York State female heavyweight champion. Her opponent, Ramsey (10-7, קאָס), as a two-time world title challenger is hoping the third time is the charm for her. They have history together and this fight nearly happened a few years ago.
“I beat her daughter (Alysia Williams-Stevenson) in my second pro fight,” Lamonakis explained. “She said she’s see me and now, seven years later, we’re fighting. She’s a little older than me and I needed more fights before I fought her. We were supposed to fight a few years ago in Aruba but a hurricane cancelled the show.”
In an eight-round Special Cruiserweight Attraction, Pembroke (מאַ) fan favorite Vinnie “American Nightmare” Carita (16-1-1, 15 קאָס) meets Brazilian knockout specialist Marcelo Leonardo “Queizada” Da Silva (22-4, 17 קאָס).
