“Collegiate Fight Night” Sábado, Novembro. 11 in Winchester, MA

WINCHESTER, Masa. An entertaining evening of 10 amateur bouts are scheduled as the Cadets of the United States Military Academy at West Point take on a New England all-star caliber team comprised of boxers from the Coast Guard Academy (Novo Londres, CT), University of Massachusetts, University of Connecticut, Trinity College and Harvard University.
“College boxing is not just a sport but also a high-impact leadership development activity,” NCBA president Eric Buller dito. “Come out and support these young men and women who face the highest levels of rigor in the classroom and the boxing gym. They will ultimately be the future leaders of our companies, communities and our nation. Each has worked hard to earn membership in the “Six-Minute Fraternity”.
Two West Points Cadets from Winchester, Luca LoConte Bota e Jack Ward, will headline the event in the homecoming.
Former professional world champions “Irlandés” Micky Ward (Lowell) e Jose Antonio “O Galo” Rivera (Worcester) will be special guests at “Collegiate Fight Night”.

Tickets plus ($2.50 service fee) custa $20.00 for general admission and limited $40.00 ringside reserved. (Agosto 6, 2017) – Former New England welterweight champion Derek “The Surgeon” Silveira defeated former world title challenger Michael “Cold Blood” Clark last night (Sat, Agosto. 5) no “Fight Night at the Bay” evento principal, Presentado por Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 Kos), of Salem MA) used his height and length advantage to out-box the much more experienced Clark (44-16-1, 18 Kos). Due to what appeared to be a broken right hand, Clark was unable to continue after six rounds.

“It’s tough to judge,” said the Polish native who lives in nearby Marshfield (MA) regarding her position for another world title shot opportunity. “Creo que si. I respect her but I felt that I should implement my sharper skills. She fought hard and came at me. I thought she’d go flat in the later rounds but she didn’t.

“I’m always tough on myself, Wayne (Lopes, her trainer and husband) was happy. I feel that I should have taken it to her more and I got caught up in clinches too much. The heat was difficult, I felt heated before the fight. I was more tired than usual and I let her come in winging wild punches.”
New N. E. Cruiserweight champion Chris Traietti
Iraq War veteran and Quincy’s favorite son, Trazos de Chris (24-4, 19 Kos), who is also co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”, pounded Nick Lavin (5-6, 4 Kos) from the opening bell to capture the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship by way of a decisive eight-round unanimous decision. Traietti teed-off on the over-matched Lavin for most of the fight, but his tough Connecticut opponent lasted to the very end.

U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (8-0, 7 Kos) permaneceu invicto, registering three knockdowns against his Floridian opponent, medio-pesados “Diñeiro” Mike Sawyer (7-9, 5 Kos), na segunda rolda, as referee Mike Ryan called the fight off right before the bell. O’Han, JR. decked Amaro twice in the first round via perfectly placed left hooks but Amaro persevered and went the full distance.

Undefeated Irish junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (4-0, 3 Kos), fighting at home in Quincy, methodically broke-down Demetrius Thomas (0-5), dropping him with a right hand in the second round, and floored him with a flurry of punches en route to a third-round stoppage only moments later by referee Ryan.

Women’s boxing is more popular in Europe, Mexico and parts of South America. But I have had a very good run and great relationships with New England promoters, who’ve put me on their cards.
“I think women’s boxing maybe, just maybe, will start changing if the trend continues as fighters such as Clarissa Shields e Katie Taylor, women boxers who’ve made names in the Olympics, keep turning pro. Amanda Serrano has gotten some good exposure fighting on television, moi. We’ve had to travel for world title fights but, hopefully, things are changing for the better.”

Derek Silveira making up for lost time Headlining “Fight Night at the Bay”

Silveira (12-1, 6 Kos), fighting out of Salem (MA), will face former world title challenger Michael “Cold Blood” Clark (44-16-1, 18 Kos) no evento principal de oito asaltos.
The 31-year-old Silveira fought for a long time with bones spurs in his right elbow. He underwent surgery and later went to training camp in Las Vegas for a fight that, desgraciadamente, fell through. It took a terribly frustrating 1 ½ years for his insurance company to finally approve the operation, which was followed, claro, by a lengthy therapy program.
“A long process,” Silveira said. “It was tough watching everybody fight while I was unable. I even had to watch guys fight for the New England title that I never lost in the ring but was unable to keep because I couldn’t fight.”
Silveira was a decorated New England amateur boxer with more than 300 fósforo, including six consecutive Central Mass (Lowell) Golden Gloves titles and two New England championships (he lost a decision one year to current world junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade), as well as multiple Rocky Marciano Tournament gold medals to go along with those he won at the Silver Mittens and Junior Olympics.

Nado en Grecia, Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), que creceu en Turners Falls (MA), é profesor na cidade de Nova York. “Realmente non sei moito do meu rival. Gañou algúns títulos nacionais pero non pelexou con demasiada frecuencia. Verei o que trae ao ring e despois axustarei. Sei que son máis alto.”
González aprendeu moito cando era compañeiro de sparring para Guillermo Rigondeaux en Florida que debía ser un campo de adestramento de seis semanas que rematou despois de tres semanas debido a Rigondeaux’ loita sendo cancelada.
“Aprendín moito sobre os diferentes métodos de adestramento que uso agora,” Irvin continuou. “As súas técnicas son fenomenais. Estiven arredor dun campión do mundo, dúas veces medallista de ouro olímpico e vin a súa ética de traballo. Despois de todo o que conseguiu, aínda ten unha gran ética de traballo, e aprendín del que un loitador necesita seguir traballando coma el ata o día en que remate. Campión Luvas de Ouro, Gonzalez has knocked out all six of his pro opponents, four in the opening round, the other two in the second. Gonzalez will fight Raúl López (10-2-1, 5 Kos), do Bronx (Nova York), in an eight-round match for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) East Regional super featherweight championship.
Former International Boxing Organization (IBO heavyweight world champion, Sonya “O Erudito” Lamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), will face TBA in the eight-round co-feature for the vacant UBF World heavyweight title. Lamonakis is a New York City teacher who lived in Turners Falls (MA) and graduated from Springfield (MA) College. She is a native of Greece and a four-time New York Golden Gloves champion.
“I am excited that we will be having our ‘New England’s Future 3’ boxing event at the DCU Center,” promoter Jose Antonio Rivera said. “The last time there was boxing at the DCU was when I fought for and won the WBA Junior Middleweight world title.
