(Derek Silveira (R) defeated Michael Clark
QUINCY, Masa. (Agosto 6, 2017) – Former New England welterweight champion Derek “The SurgeonSilveira derrotado ex retador al título mundial Michael “Sangre fria” Clark anoche (Sábado, Agosto. 5) en el “Fight Night at the Bay” evento principal, presentado por Promociones granito Chin, en Marina Bay Sportplex en Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), of Salem MA) used his height and length advantage to out-box the much more experienced Clark (44-16-1, 18 KOs). Due to what appeared to be a broken right hand, Clark was unable to continue after six rounds.

Después de la pelea, Silveira got done on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Ashley Myers. (She accepted).

I want to thank Michael Clark,” Silveria commented. “My buddy Martin passed away and this fight was for him. We’re back and can go as long as needed because I’m in better shape. I’m a smart fighter and I can counter guys. I hope to be back fighting Septiembre 30in Boston.

Alexandra lopez (L) picked up a big win vs, Lisa Garland
En el evento co estelar, retador al título mundial en tres ocasiones Alexandra lopez (18-4-2, 1 KO) likely positioned herself for another world title shot, taking an eight-round decision from former world champion Lisa Garland (15-8, 8 KOs), winning all eight rounds on two judgesscorecards and all but one on the other.

It’s tough to judge,” said the Polish native who lives in nearby Marshfield (Massachusetts) regarding her position for another world title shot opportunity. “Yo espero que sí. I respect her but I felt that I should implement my sharper skills. She fought hard and came at me. I thought she’d go flat in the later rounds but she didn’t.

I’m always tough on myself, Wayne (Lopes, her trainer and husband) was happy. I feel that I should have taken it to her more and I got caught up in clinches too much. The heat was difficult, I felt heated before the fight. I was more tired than usual and I let her come in winging wild punches.
New N. Y. Cruiserweight champion Chris Traietti
Iraq War veteran and Quincy’s favorite son, Chris Traietti (24-4, 19 KOs), who is also co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”, machacado Nick Lavin (5-6, 4 KOs) from the opening bell to capture the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship by way of a decisive eight-round unanimous decision. Traietti teed-off on the over-matched Lavin for most of the fight, but his tough Connecticut opponent lasted to the very end.

U.S. Veterano marino Brandon Montella (8-0, 7 KOs) permanecido invicto, registering three knockdowns against his Floridian opponent, peso semipesado “Dinero” Mike Sawyer (7-9, 5 KOs), en la segunda ronda, como árbitro Mike Ryan called the fight off right before the bell. Montella first put down Sawyer with a body shot, followed that with a straight right to the face, and Sawyer took a knee for his third trip to the canvas,

In an entertaining fight from start to finish, Whitman (Massachusetts) welter Micro “Mal hombre” O’Han, Jr. (1-0) made his retired fighter father proud, derrotar un juego Daniel Amaro(0-2-1) por medio de una decisión unánime de cuatro asaltos. O’Han, Jr. decked Amaro twice in the first round via perfectly placed left hooks but Amaro persevered and went the full distance.

Undefeated Irish junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (4-0, 3 KOs), peleando en casa en quincy, methodically broke-down Demetrius Thomas (0-5), dropping him with a right hand in the second round, and floored him with a flurry of punches en route to a third-round stoppage only moments later by referee Ryan.

Two-time Ecuador Olympian Carlos Góngora (9-0, 8 KOs), peleando desde Brooklyn (Nueva York), thoroughly outclassed Texas journeyman Larry “Camara lenta” Herrero (10-34-1, 7 KOs)by way of a fifth-round technical knockout. Gongora, a powerful southpaw promoted by Murphy’s Boxing, started the fight firing crisp combinations to the head and body of Smith, who took a knee for an eight-count in the opening round. The action slowed through the second and third frames, but Gongora picked up the pace in the fourth, as Smith took a knee again and survived another round. The undefeated Ecuadorian middleweight closed the snow in the fifth as referee Steve Clark halted the one-sided bout.

Aleksandra Lopes fighting on “Fight Night at the Bay” for one more World title shot opportunity

Este sábado night in Quincy, Massachusetts
Alexandra lopez (L) fighting for one more world title shot

QUINCY, Masa. (Julio 31, 2017) – En Sábado noche, Agosto 5, three-time world title challenge Alexandra lopez (17-4-2, 1 KO) is taking on former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 KOs) en el evento co-presentado de ocho rondas en el “Fight Night at the Bay” tarjeta, largely to try and better position herself for one final world title shot.

“Fight Night at the Bay” tarjeta, presentado por Promociones granito Chin, will be held at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Poland-native Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield (Massachusetts), is a 37-year-old lawyer who practices in Brockton (Massachusetts). She lost a pair of vacant World Boxing Council (CMB) Super Welterweight title fights to a Pole in Poland, Swede in Sweden. Septiembre pasado, Lopes lost a 10-round decision to Ewa Piatkowska (9-1) En Polonia; she dropped a 10-round majority decision in Sweden to Mikaela Lauren (22-3) en 2014. En 2013, Lopes lost a 10-round unanimous decision in Rhode Island to Tori Nelson (6-0-3) for the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) Campeonato Mundial de Peso Welter.
The highlight of Lopes’ 8 ½-year professional career, hasta ahora, is her 10-round complete shutout (100-90 X 3) decision victory, Julio 30, 2016, a Szilvia Szagbados (13-6) en Plymouth (Massachusetts) for the vacant WBC Silver female welterweight crown. Lopes has also defeated world champions Yvonne Reis y Kali Reis.
Lopes vs. Garland has world title fight implications for the winner. “I’d like to position myself for one more world title shot,” Lopes said. “I’m still learning every fight and I haven’t reached my plateau yet. Garland has good experience, she’s been around as long as I’ve been fighting. I can’t afford to lose this fight, but I’ve always had that in the back of my mind. I need an experienced opponent like her to push me, to learn something new, and I always like to fight at home.
It’s tough to fight here (NOSOTROS.) for a world title. You almost always need to travel overseas. We’re limited here because of the required purse (for the defending champion to come to the states) and sanctioning fees for promoters in America. Women’s boxing is more popular in Europe, Mexico and parts of South America. But I have had a very good run and great relationships with New England promoters, who’ve put me on their cards.
I think women’s boxing maybe, just maybe, will start changing if the trend continues as fighters such as Clarissa Escudos y Katie Taylor, women boxers who’ve made names in the Olympics, keep turning pro. Amanda Serrano has gotten some good exposure fighting on television, demasiado. We’ve had to travel for world title fights but, Ojalá, things are changing for the better.
Other top N.E. boxers will also be in action Agosto. 5, including Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 KOs), of Quincy, quien se cuadra contra Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 KOs), de Shelton (Connecticut) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti is also the co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (Massachusetts) welter Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 KOs) vs. Norwalk (Connecticut) Shakha Moore (12-23-3, 2 KOs), Estados Unidos invicto de Quincy. Veterano marino Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 KOs) vs. Florida peso semipesado “Dinero” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 KOs), and Ireland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Filadelfia Demetrius Thomas (0-4). Holbrook, MA welter Mike O'Han, Jr. (1-0) adquiere Dorchester's (Massachusetts) Daniel Amaro (0-2-1) en un partido de cuatro rondas.
Todas las peleas y los luchadores están sujetos a cambio.

Derek Silveira making up for lost time Headlining “Fight Night at the Bay”

PARA PUBLICACION INMEDIATA
Sábado noche, Agosto 5, en Quincy, Massachusetts
QUINCY, Masa. (Julio 18, 2017) – Former New England. campeón de peso welter Derek Silveira Is trying to make up for lost time, 3 ½ years of ring inactivity from the summer of 2013 until this past April, as he prepares to headline the August 5º “Fight Night at the Bay” tarjeta, presentado por Promociones granito Chin, en Marina Bay Sportplex en Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), peleando fuera de Salem (Massachusetts), will face former world title challenger Michael “Sangre fria” Clark (44-16-1, 18 KOs) en el evento principal de ocho asaltos.
The 31-year-old Silveira fought for a long time with bones spurs in his right elbow. He underwent surgery and later went to training camp in Las Vegas for a fight that, desafortunadamente, fell through. Entonces, as a worker for a moving company, he fell through steps, resulting in torn labrum in his left hip. It took a terribly frustrating 1 ½ years for his insurance company to finally approve the operation, which was followed, por supuesto, by a lengthy therapy program.
A long process,” Silveira said. “It was tough watching everybody fight while I was unable. I even had to watch guys fight for the New England title that I never lost in the ring but was unable to keep because I couldn’t fight.
Silveira was a decorated New England amateur boxer with more than 300 partidos, including six consecutive Central Mass (Lowell) Golden Gloves titles and two New England championships (he lost a decision one year to current world junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade), as well as multiple Rocky Marciano Tournament gold medals to go along with those he won at the Silver Mittens and Junior Olympics.
Ahora 31 and having fought the past 20 año, Silveira is hungry to prove himself on a grander scale, comenzando Agosto. 5 with Clark. “He will be a good test for me for a comparison to where I was in the past,” Silveira commented about his veteran opponent. “Clark is a veteran who fights on his toes. I used to watch him when he was on The Contender (televised realty show). My sparring partner back then was (la tarde) Jeff Fraza, who also was on The Contender. It’ll be good to see where I am.
I grew up as a boxer. I had huge legs, strong upper body, and good footwork. I played soccer as a kid. I lacked power. The last few years I’ve worked on my power. Ahora, Soy un boxeador-golpeador. Para esta pelea, I will start out boxingmy endurance will be thereand then I’ll look to take him out in the later rounds. I want to look good and not get hit by his strong right hand.
Silveira has one of the largest fan-bases in New England, largely from North Shore (de Boston) comunidades, and Derek knows that they will be out in force supporting him Agosto. 5. “My fans travel,” he insisted. “Quincy isn’t too far from the North Shore, certainly closer than Foxwoods (Mashantucket, Connecticut), and I had a lot of fans there. My fans are overpowering; so loud and a little crazy.”.
Many of NE’s other best and most popular professional boxers will be in action Agosto. 5. The eight-round fight between three-time world title challenger, welter Alexandra lopez (17-4-2, 1 KO), of Marshfield (Massachusetts), and former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 KOs) has been elevated to co-feature because of its potential world title fight implications for the winner.
Quincy fighter Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 KOs) caras Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 KOs), de Shelton (Connecticut) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti is also the co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”, in addition to being a former World Boxing Council (CMB) Campeón de peso crucero de Estados Unidos, college graduate and Iraq War veteran.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (Massachusetts) welter Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 KOs) vs. Norwalk (Connecticut) Shaka Moore (12-23-3, 2 KOs), Estados Unidos invicto de Quincy. Veterano marino Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 KOs) vs. Florida peso semipesado “Dinero” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 KOs), and Irreland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Filadelfia Demetrius Thomas (0-4). Holbrook, MA welter Mike O'Han, Jr. (1-0) adquiere Dorchester's (Massachusetts) Daniel Amaro (0-2-1) en un partido de cuatro rondas.

I heard Jose was promoting shows in Worcester, so I called to say I’d like to fight for a world title on one of his cards. I think he saw me fight before and he quickly agreed.
This is still a make-dominates sport. I tell young girls to box as a side job. I have two Master’s Degrees and I’m a full-time teacher in New York. Boxing is my hobby. Very few women can make enough money boxing to make a good living. I don’t know if it’s because I was born in Greece and boxing is in my blood, but I love this sport and that’s what keeps me going. I guess I was born to fight. I enjoy getting in the ring. I’ve gotten a lot from boxing and now I’m giving back to amateurs in New York City as president of a youth organization.
Lamonakis; is a former International Boxing Organization World and New York State female heavyweight champion. Her opponent, Ramsey (10-7, KOs), as a two-time world title challenger is hoping the third time is the charm for her. They have history together and this fight nearly happened a few years ago.
I beat her daughter (Alysia Williams-Stevenson) in my second pro fight,” Lamonakis explained. “She said she’s see me and now, seven years later, we’re fighting. She’s a little older than me and I needed more fights before I fought her. We were supposed to fight a few years ago in Aruba but a hurricane cancelled the show.

Budding star Irvin Gonzalez Starting to make waves in Super featherweight division

PARA PUBLICACION INMEDIATA
“El futuro de Nueva Inglaterra 3” 10mo de junio de en Worcester, Massachusetts

WORCESTER, Masa. (Mayo 24, 2017) – New England’s top prospect with 10 pro fights of less, undefeated hometown favorite Irvin González, is on a fast track going into his June 10º headline fight in the third installment of the “Futuro de Nueva Inglaterra” serie, en el DCU Center (Sala de exhibición) en Worcester, Massachusetts.

“El futuro de Nueva Inglaterra 3” es presentado por Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), propiedad y operado por jubilados tres veces, dos divisiones campeón del mundo José Antonio Rivera y su hijo, Anthonee (A. J.) Rivera.
The 21-year-old Gonzalez (6-0, 6 KOs) adquiere Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 KOs), de Bronx (Nueva York), in an eight-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) All-American super featherweight championship.
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time en 11 año, irónicamente, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, por decisión unánime de 12 asaltos, de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB) Título mundial súper welter.
I am excited to watch Irvin’s boxing career flourish,” promoter Jose Rivera remarked. “He has all the tools to become a world champion. Fighting for the UBF championship will be the first of many and I am glad that we are able to give him this opportunity. I see big things for Irvin and I hope fans come out Sábado noche, Junio 10º, to support him and the other local boxers.”.
“Esta es una gran oportunidad para mí,” González dijo. “I’m blessed to be fighting in Worcester for my first title. It’s not a big title but it’s like taking baby steps to a world title. Since I started boxing at the Boys & Girls club, I always wanted to be like Jose, a three-time world champion. Ahora, it’s my turn, and I’m fighting again in my city.
Gonzalez has a perfect pro record: six rights, six wins by knockout. Sin embargo, he’s only had fought a grand total of eight rounds, y junio 10º he’s in a scheduled eight-round match. The well-spoken youngster isn’t concerned with the step up in rounds and opposition.
I’ve been asked about that by a lot of media, trainers and other fighters,” él explicó. “I’ve always trained like it’s for a world title fight, 12 rondas, so I’m not worried about going into deep water. I’m in magnificent shape, three weeks before the fight, and even in the amateurs I’ve always gotten stronger as the fight went along. In sparring, I get stronger, so going eight isn’t a problem for me.
I don’t really know much about my opponent. He won a few national titles but hasn’t fought too often. I’ll see what he brings into the ring and then adjust. I know I’m taller.
Gonzalez learned a lot when he was a sparring partner for Guillermo Rigondeaux in Florida that was supposed to be a six-week training camp that ended after three weeks due to Rigondeauxfight being cancelled.
I learned a lot about different training methods that I now use,” Irvin continued. “His techniques are phenomenal. I was around a world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and I saw his work ethic. After all he’s accomplished, he still has a great work ethic, and I learned from him that a fighter need continue working like he does until the day it’s all over. It’s not all about money, it’s having fun every day, doing what we love.
