BONITO, CALIF. (Septiembre 13, 2016) – Chicago Eddie Ramírez (15-0, 10 KOs) scored a seventh round knockout of Kevin Watts (11-1, 4 KOs) in a battle of unbeaten super lightweight prospects that served as the main event of Liga de Campeones de Boxeo MARTES TOE-TO-TOE en FS1 y BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes Tuesday night from Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, California.
Ramirez was determined to be the busier fighter, but it was Watts who scored the first big blow of the night when he caught Ramirez with a right uppercut that dropped his opponent for the first time in his career.
The Chicago-born prospect stepped up the attack after the knockdown and began to dominate the fight with his work rate and body punching. The jab was another effective weapon for Ramirez and it allowed him to navigate the distance and push Watts against the ropes.
Watts was unable to put his punches together and Ramirez became more emboldened in his attack as the fight went on and Watts began to wear down. Ramirez had a 488 a 348 advantage in punches thrown while connecting on 170 punches to Watts’ 130.
The relentless attack eventually paid dividends as Ramirez trapped Watts with a flurry of body punches and eventually put Watts down to the mat. He was unable to beat the count and the fight was waved off at 1:37 en la séptima ronda.
The co-main event of the night saw super welterweight prospect Marcos “Loco” Hernández (9-0, 2 KOs) earn a unanimous decision over Detroit’s Antonio Urista (7-2, 2 KOs) en su pelea de ocho asaltos.
Hernandez controlled the fight with his length advantage and superior accuracy while Urista attempted to outwork his opponent. The fight was full of exchanges from start to finish as both fighters loaded up on power punches throughout the night.
Round three saw Hernandez begin to break through and land big, clean shots on Urista, who was staggered by a right hand midway through the round. Hernandez’s steady attack had an effect on Urista in the form of his mouthpiece falling out three times. En la quinta ronda, the third instance prompted the referee to deduct a point from Urista.
Sensing the urgency in the fight, Urista pressed forward and initiated an exciting round of back and forth action. Hernandez continued to get the better of the exchanges but was tagged by a hard left hand to the head right before the bell.
Urista enjoyed a 664-507 advantage in punches thrown, but Hernandez was able to land 213 golpes a 193 from his opponent. Hernandez was dominant with his right hooks and he mixed in uppercuts throughout the night as he began to time his opponent.
Hernandez’s 42 por ciento a 29 percent advantage in punches landed proved to be the difference as he took home the decision by scores of 80-71 dos veces y 79-72.

Hernandez is set for his second consecutive fight on FS1 and in Nice and he will look to build on his impressive victory over previously unbeaten Thomas Hill in July. Here is what Hernandez had to say about the fight, his camp and more:
On fighting in his second televised bout on FS1
To be fighting on FS1 for the second time in my career is a dream come true. I’ve worked extremely hard to get these types of opportunities and I want to take full advantage of the situation. Just like my last fight, you can expect me to come out firing hard shots. I’m here to give the fans a great show.
En su reciente campo de entrenamiento…
Training camp has been hard as usual. Just like the last camp, we traveled to many different gyms to get the best possible sparring. Everyone was a top level guy. My conditioning is right where I like it. Most importantly, I feel I’m getting better with each training camp.
On his matchup with Antonio Urista
I really don’t know much about him expect that he only has one loss on his record. I’m sure he’s going to be looking to take advantage of this opportunity, so I’m expecting a very tough fight. The fans are in for a big treat.
En la lucha en el Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino…
I’ve only fought there once and it was a great experience. The venue is very intimate and the fans are on top of you so you can feel the energy when you’re in the ring. Because I’m from California, the fans seem to take a liking to me, so I’m excited to be fighting there again.
On fighting out of his hometown of Fresno, California…
Right now Fresno has a lot of good fighters coming up. I just want to do my best to put Fresno on the map as far as boxing goes. There’s a lot of talent coming out of Fresno and the fans really support their fighters. I know everyone back home will be tuning in. With a great performance, I’m hoping my hometown fan base will continue to grow.

BONITO, CALIF. (Julio 13, 2016) – contendiente de peso welter Levan Ghvamichava (17-2-1, 13 KOs) scored two knockdowns before stopping Breidis Prescott (29-8, 21 KOs) in the seventh round of the main event Martes noche en Liga de Campeones de Boxeo MARTES TOE-TO-TOE en FS1 y BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes from Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino en Niza, California.
Ghvamichava outworked and outslugged Prescott, knocking him down in round four before knocking him down again in round seven and eventually forcing the stoppage. Prescott got off to a fast start, using his length and a strong right hand to dictate action in the first frame.
Prescott couldn’t keep up the work rate however, as Ghvamichava began to close the distance and created more toe-to-toe exchanges. En la cuarta ronda, Ghvamichava connected with a left hook and a right cross that dropped Prescott, who was able to beat the count and get back on his feet.
Después de la caída, Prescott attempted to revert to his round-one form by boxing and using his jab, but the persistent Ghvamichava kept working hard to get inside on the taller fighter. The hard work paid off in round seven when Prescott was severely staggered with a right hand before being sent to the canvas by a left hook.
Prescott was unable to recover as he beat the count narrowly but was on shaky ground. He hit the canvas two more times, both ruled pushes by the referee before a hard combination by Ghvamichava in the corner forced referee Michael Margado to stop the fight at 2:37 of round seven.
En el momento de la detención, Ghvamichava had thrown nearly 100 more punches than Prescott (495-397) and had out landed him 134 a 110.
The co-main event of the night saw Marcos Hernández (8-0, 2 KOs) earn a unanimous decision in a competitive and entertaining eight-round super welterweight brawl against previously unbeaten Thomas Hill (6-1, 1 KO).
Hernandez and Hill went back and forth from start to finish in the first eight round bout of either prospect’s career. Hill looked to dictate the action with his jab and body work, but it was Hernandez who had more success throughout the night with his left hand and various uppercuts.
The sixth round saw Hill lose a point early on in the round for a low blow. The deduction clearly increased the urgency in Hill who pressed forward, delivering the best action of the fight. Hill pushed the pace but Hernandez withstood the strong combinations and repeatedly caught Hill with strong left hands. Outside of staggering Hill once early in the seventh round, both fighters continued to throw hard punches all the way to the final bell.
The punch stats reflected the close nature of the fight as Hernandez out landed Hill 161 a 157 while it was Hill who had the slight edge in accuracy, aterrizaje 33 percent of his punches to 31 percent for Hernandez. Even without the point deduction, the judges still preferred Hernandez, who landed the more significant punches, and gave him the decision by scores of 79-72, 78-73 y 77-74.
The opening bout of the telecast saw middleweight prospect Malcolm McAllister (8-0, 8 KOs) remain unbeaten with a stoppage victory over Gilberto Yoruba (7-3, 4 KOs). Yoruba did not come out for the eighth and final round after McAllister dominated the first seven rounds of the fight.
McAllister controlled the fight by working off of his strong jab with powerful right hands and hooks to the body. Yoruba continued to come forward throughout the fight, wildly throwing numerous overhand rights looking to stun the undefeated prospect.
After staggering Yoruba several times in round four, McAllister really began to do damage when he teed off on Yoruba with multiple unanswered shots to close out the frame. The one-sided action showed in the punch stats as McAllister out landed Yoruba 184 a 76 eventually leading to a frustrated Yoruba being deducted a point in round six for low blows.
