ලොවෙල්, ජනමාධ්ය. (මාර්තු 3, 2017) – Western New England won its fourth consecutive New England Tournament of Champions open class team title last night in the grand finale of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Western NE had seven individual winners to earn the Bill Hoar Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Team. Northern New England finished second with three individual winners and Central New England had two.

We had the biggest crowd of the season turnout for the finals. The draw was done by computer, so the marches were nice and fair. I really liked the way these boxers were matched. The fans here in Lowell have been appreciated for a long time watching good fights and we plan to keep that rich tradition going.”
Western New England bantamweight Nathan Martinez, who defeated Joseph Valdez on points last night, was named the recipient of the Thomas Costello Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Boxer.
Norther New England lightweight Liz Leddy won her sixth All-New England title with a close points win over Kelsay Kaiser, while three-time National Golden Gloves champion Rashidi එලිස් (මධ්යම නව එංගලන්තය), who is the No. 2 rated lightweight in the United States, took a decision against defending N.E. ශූර Lyndsay Kyajohnian.

“New England will be sending a strong team to the National Golden Gloves,” Russo added. “We may only have three female boxers going to The Nationals, but each one of them have won national tournaments. Anyone of the male boxers on Team New England could win at The Nationals. I think Elvis (Figueroa), Yarmarco (ගුස්මාන්) හා Josnieමම (කස්ත්රෝ). ලොවෙල්, ජනමාධ්ය. (පෙබරවාරි 24, 2017) – Twelve novice division champions were crowned last night in the men and women’s finals of the New England Tournament of Champions, part of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
Central New England edged Western New England, 6-4, to win the team title and receive the George McGuane Award. Northern New England had the other two individual winners.
The much-anticipated showdown in the light welterweight bout lived up to its billing as Alejandro Paulino, of New London (සී.ටී.), defeated Tyngsboro’s (එම්.ඒ.) Nathan Balakin, 4-1. Paulino was presented the Louie Ayala Memorial Award as the Outstanding Boxer. Jose Ayala, Louie’s brother, made the presentation.
“We had another big, enthusiastic crowd that enjoyed watching some great matches,” පවසයි බොබී රුසියානු, New England Golden Gloves Executive Director. “The novice division finals had so many good matchups. To the delight of an always enthusiastic crowd, hometown-favorite Team Central had the most individual winners with seven, followed by Team Western (4), Team Southern (3) and Team Northern (1).

71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship Central N.E. semifinals results

The open and novice championship finals will be held next Thursday රාත්රී (පෙබරවාරි. 9) at Lowell Memorial Auditorium with men’s and women’s matches. See the remaining 2017 schedule of events below as well as last night’s complete results.
Last night’s action included nine novice division semifinals matches, eight men’s and one women’s, as well as four open men’s matches. Two of the open matches featured final competitions (not semifinals like the others) as Boston light heavyweight Taylor Mears, representing The Ring gym, stopped Nahua’s (එන් එච්) John Xifaris දෙවන වටයේ දී, and North Chelmsford lightweight බ්රැන්ඩන් හිගින්ස් edged Dorchester’s Jonathan Depina on points, 3-2.

The Gedneys will not fight each other next in next Thursday’schampionship final of the novice super middleweight division. Arguably the most action-packed match last night was between lightweights Jeremiah Perez, of Lowell, හා Edwin Rozon, of Haverhill, in the open division. Perez won on points, 5-0, but the game Rozon kept firing despite being dropped in the second round.
