LAS VEGAS (September 7, 2017) – The sport of boxing was the center of attention in August with a record-setting mega event that captured the imagination of the public.  A trio of shows presented by Premier Boxing Champions in September will give fans more opportunities to see young boxers on the rise in the sport.
“Premier Boxing Champions will present three shows that will deliver the kind of excitement that fans have come to appreciate. All three shows involve boxers who have a bright future in the sport and are tomorrow’s stars,” said Tim Smith, VP of Communications for Haymon Boxing.
David Benavidez (18-0, 17 KOs) will take on Ronald Gavril(18-1, 14 KOs) for the vacant super middleweight world title in a bout that will have historical implications when the two boxers square off in a 12-round bout that headlines a SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION® on Friday, September 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The 20-year-old Benavidez has the chance to become the youngest super middleweight champion in history and the youngest reigning boxing world champion in the sport today. Gavril is looking to win the title that was once held by his Mayweather Promotions teammate, Badou Jack, who vacated the title to move up to 175 pounds where he claimed a light heavyweight world title with a dominant victory over Nathan Cleverly on Aug. 26.
The undercard will feature two more exciting matches in the super middleweight division. Once-beaten contender J’Leon Love (23-1, 13 KOs) will battle Texas-native Abraham Han(26-3, 16 KOs) in a 10-round bout and unbeaten prospectCaleb Plant (15-0, 10 KOs) takes on Andrew Hernandez (19-6-1, 9 KOs) in 10 rounds of action.
Unbeaten super lightweight contender Mario Barrios (19-0, 11 KOs) will clash with Philadelphia’s Naim Nelson (13-3, 1 KO) in a 10-round battle from Sands Bethlehem Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and FOX Deportes on Tuesday, September 16 at 10 p.m./7 p.m. PT. The 22-year-old Barrios of San Antonio has been on a roll this year, knocking out Yardley Armenta Cruz in March and Jose Luis Rodriguez in June.
In the other televised bouts, Brooklyn light heavyweight prospect Earl Newman (10-0, 7 KOs) takes on Toledo’s Paul Parker (8-2, 4 KOs) in an 8-round bout to open the broadcast and a pair of undefeated featherweight prospects Stephen Fulton (11-0, 5 KOs) and Adam Lopez (8-0, 3 KOs) face off in an eight-round co-main event.
Six boxers with a combined record of 72-1 will do battle onTOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and FOX Deportes on Sept. 26from Cannery Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. ET.  Unbeaten Cuban super featherweight Leduan Barthelemy (13-0, 7 KOs) will meet Eduardo Ramirez (20-0-2, 7 KOs) from Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico in a 10-round main event.
In the co-main event Alejandro Salinas (8-1, 8 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio battles Duarn Vue (12-0-2, 4 KOs) of Madison, Wisconsin in an eight-round super featherweight bout. In the opening TV bout, Bryan Figueroa (12-0, 5 KOs) of Tijuana, Mexico will fight for the first time outside of Mexico when he takes on Ivan Jimenez (7-0-1, 4 KOs), who is from Cuba but now lives in Las Vegas, in an eight-round lightweight match.

The youngest brother of two-division world champion Rances and Olympic gold medalist Yan, Barthelemy picked up four victories in 2016 and started his 2017 campaign with a victory over Jesus Aguinaga and a stoppage of Reynaldo Blanco. The 28-year-old fights out of Las Vegas by way of Cuba and continues to rise under the tutelage of Ismael Salas.
With 22 pro fights under his belt at just 24-years-old, Ramirez will look to make a mark when he makes his U.S. debut on September 26. Fighting out of Sinaloa, Mexico, Ramirez most recently defeated Guillero Soloppi in May and has taken down then unbeaten rivals Edivaldo Ortega, Roman Morales and Miguel Martinez during his pro career that dates back to 2010.
Fighting out of Youngstown, Ohio, Salinas has recorded stoppage victories in all eight of his triumphs as a professional. The 22-year-old is unblemished outside of one narrow split decision defeat in his fourth pro fight. A pro since 2014, Salinas will fight in Las Vegas as a pro for the first time when he enters the ring on September 26.
Originally from Thailand, Vue grew up in Madison, Wisconsin while largely fighting out of the state since turning pro in June 2014. Vue has picked up two victories in 2017 including a stoppage of Lance Williams and a 12-round decision over Miguel Angel Mendoza. The 31-year-old also owns a 12-round decision victory over Jorge Luis Munguia last May.
The 19-year-old Figueroa turned pro in 2014 with a pair of stoppage victories and has continued to build up his resume, including fighting eight rounds for the first time last year on his way to defeating Hector Ambriz. Representing Tijuana, Mexico and fighting out of San Diego, Figueroa makes his U.S. debut after beginning his 2017 campaign with a first round knockout of Marcelino Hernandez in July.
After a majority draw in his pro debut in 2015, Jimenez has racked up seven straight wins including two victories in the U.S. The 21-year-old hails from Cuba but fights out of Las Vegas and will step-up in competition when he enters the ring on September 26.

NICE, CALIF. (March 29, 2017) – Undefeated Cuban prospect Leduan Barthelemy (13-0, 7 KOs) scored a ninth round stoppage of Reynaldo Blanco (14-4, 8 KOs) Tuesday night in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes from Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, California.
“I came here knowing that I had to make a statement and deliver a knockout on FS1 and FOX Deportes,” said Barthelemy. “I controlled the fight from the opening bell and never lost focus.”
The brother of two-division world champion Rances, Barthelemy showed off his boxing skill by using his length and speed to dictate the action against Blanco. After a slow start, Blanco came alive in the third round and began increasing his offensive output, including a looping right hand that landed clean on Barthelemy’s head late in the round.
Blanco again pushed the action in round four and landed a sharp left hook, but Barthelemy took the shot and responded with a right hook of his own to end the round. Barthelemy continued to have success with his jab, and throwing combinations off of it, and eventually opened up a cut over Blanco’s right eye at the end of round eight.
Barthelemy was the fresher fighter as he entered the ninth round for the first time in his career and it showed as he dropped Blanco with a series of hard right hands early in the ninth round. Blanco was able to get to his feet but Barthelemy continued the onslaught, prompting Blanco’s corner to stop the fight at the official time of 1:30 of round nine.
“I feel like I’m the best up-and-coming fighter in the division,” said Barthelemy. “I’m ready to step up to the next level of competition.”
The co-main event of the night saw Delaware’s Kyrone Davis (12-1, 5 KOs) earn a split-decision victory over previously unbeaten Marcos Hernandez (9-1, 2 KOs) in a 10-round showdown of super welterweight prospects.
Davis came out aggressive from the start as he looked to close distance and attack Hernandez from the inside. It nearly backfired early as Hernandez wobbled Davis with a left hook and followed up with a right uppercut that put Davis in some early trouble.
The tide swung back towards Davis after the first two rounds with an increased attack to Hernandez’s body, which slowed down the offense of the Fresno-native. In round seven, a stray body shot from Davis was deemed low by referee Dan Stell, who deducted a point as Hernandez dropped to the canvas.
Despite the deduction, Davis was able to remain effective with his aggressive game plan as both fighters went past eight rounds for the first time in their pro careers. Hernandez appeared to hurt Davis midway through the final round with a left hook, but Davis was able to smother Hernandez as he went for the knockout.
After the end of ten rounds the judges awarded Davis a split decision by scores of 95-94 for Hernandez and 96-93 twice for Davis.
In the televised opener, unbeaten prospect Malcolm McAllister (9-0, 8 KOs) overcame a knockdown in the final round to earn a unanimous decision over Mexico’s Alejandro Torres(9-2-2, 4 KOs) in their six-round super welterweight clash.
McAllister was in control of the fight throughout the first five rounds using his jab to control the distance and beat Torres to the punch consistently. He began landing more strong right hands in the third round and continued to box effectively while building a lead on the scorecards.
The  fight changed drastically early in the sixth and final round as Torres got the better of an exchange of power punches and connected with a massive left hook that stunned McAllister and sent him to the canvas. The Long Beach-native was able to get to his feet but was still shaky as Torres stalked him around the ring.
With a combination of clinches, jabs and movement, McAllister was able to finish the round on his feet despite Torres’ advances. The knockdown was not enough to derail McAllister as he won the decision by the score of 58-55 on all three judges’ cards.

On his current training camp:
“Like always, training camp has been tough. My team and I put in a lot of hard work. I have some great sparring in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, with some top-level guys.  I know all the hard work will pay off on fight night.  There are a couple of more days left before we wrap camp up.  All in all, it’s been a great camp.”
On facing Kyrone Davis:
“Kyrone Davis is a very good fighter with a lot of skill.  He’s never been knocked out so I know he has a good chin.  This is a fight where the winner will get another opportunity to take his career to another level.  We have a nice game plan that we will impose on Davis.  I must take control from the first round and make my adjustments from there.”
On making his third appearance on FS1:

The 27-year-old fights out of Las Vegas by way of Cuba and will return to fight at the same venue where he defeated Ricardo Nunez last September and Pedro Melo last March.

Born in Nagua, Dominican Republic, Blanco lives and trains in Puerto Rico and most recently scored a second-round knockout of Gustavo Rodriguez in December 2016. The 29-year-old has fought professionally since 2012 and picked up a regional lightweight belt last January with a victory over previously unbeaten Angel Luis Ocasio and followed it up by winning the Dominican Republic lightweight title over previously undefeated Mario Beltre.

Unbeaten since turning pro in 2013, Hernandez has been triumphant in his last two appearances, both at the Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino. He defeated previously unbeaten Thomas Hill in an exciting brawl in July of last year and he followed that up with a dominant performance over once-beaten Antonio Urista in September. The 23-year-old fights out of Fresno, California and picked up three victories in 2015.

A two-time amateur National Champion fighting out of Wilmington, Delaware, Davis turned pro in 2014 after a stellar amateur career. Now 22-years-old, he earned wins in his first 10 starts before dropping a competitive contest to then unbeaten Junior Castillo in April. A two-time Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion, Davis bounced back in his last outing with a dominant third-round stoppage of Carlos Gabriel Ozan in November.

Fighting out of Long Beach, California, McCallister turned pro in December 2014 and has knocked out every opponent he’s faced. The 26-year-old stayed busy in 2015 as he earned five victories before winning twice more in 2016. His last bout was also featured on FS1 and FOX Deportes as McCallister beat Gilberto Pereira dos Santos by seventh-round TKO at Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino.

NICE, CALIF. (September 13, 2016) – Chicago’s Eddie Ramirez (15-0, 10 KOs) scored a seventh round knockout of Kevin Watts (11-1, 4 KOs) in a battle of unbeaten super lightweight prospects that served as the main event of Premier Boxing Champions TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes Tuesday night from Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, California.
Ramirez was determined to be the busier fighter, but it was Watts who scored the first big blow of the night when he caught Ramirez with a right uppercut that dropped his opponent for the first time in his career.
The Chicago-born prospect stepped up the attack after the knockdown and began to dominate the fight with his work rate and body punching. The jab was another effective weapon for Ramirez and it allowed him to navigate the distance and push Watts against the ropes.
Watts was unable to put his punches together and Ramirez became more emboldened in his attack as the fight went on and Watts began to wear down. Ramirez had a 488 to 348 advantage in punches thrown while connecting on 170 punches to Watts’ 130.
The relentless attack eventually paid dividends as Ramirez trapped Watts with a flurry of body punches and eventually put Watts down to the mat. He was unable to beat the count and the fight was waved off at 1:37 in the seventh round.
The co-main event of the night saw super welterweight prospect Marcos “Madman” Hernandez (9-0, 2 KOs) earn a unanimous decision over Detroit’s Antonio Urista (7-2, 2 KOs) in their eight-round bout.
Hernandez controlled the fight with his length advantage and superior accuracy while Urista attempted to outwork his opponent. The fight was full of exchanges from start to finish as both fighters loaded up on power punches throughout the night.
Round three saw Hernandez begin to break through and land big, clean shots on Urista, who was staggered by a right hand midway through the round. Hernandez’s steady attack had an effect on Urista in the form of his mouthpiece falling out three times. In the fifth round, the third instance prompted the referee to deduct a point from Urista.
Sensing the urgency in the fight, Urista pressed forward and initiated an exciting round of back and forth action. Hernandez continued to get the better of the exchanges but was tagged by a hard left hand to the head right before the bell.
Urista enjoyed a 664-507 advantage in punches thrown, but Hernandez was able to land 213 punches to 193 from his opponent. Hernandez was dominant with his right hooks and he mixed in uppercuts throughout the night as he began to time his opponent.
Hernandez’s 42 percent to 29 percent advantage in punches landed proved to be the difference as he took home the decision by scores of 80-71 twice and 79-72.

“To be fighting on FS1 for the second time in my career is a dream come true.  I’ve worked extremely hard to get these types of opportunities and I want to take full advantage of the situation.  Just like my last fight, you can expect me to come out firing hard shots.  I’m here to give the fans a great show.”
On his recent training camp…
“Training camp has been hard as usual.  Just like the last camp, we traveled to many different gyms to get the best possible sparring.  Everyone was a top level guy.  My conditioning is right where I like it.  Most importantly, I feel I’m getting better with each training camp.”
On his matchup with Antonio Urista…
“I really don’t know much about him expect that he only has one loss on his record.  I’m sure he’s going to be looking to take advantage of this opportunity, so I’m expecting a very tough fight.  The fans are in for a big treat.”

“I’ve only fought there once and it was a great experience.  The venue is very intimate and the fans are on top of you so you can feel the energy when you’re in the ring.  Because I’m from California, the fans seem to take a liking to me, so I’m excited to be fighting there again.”

Additional undercard action features undefeated featherweight prospect Leduan Barthelemy (10-0, 6 KOs) in an eight-round matchup against San Antonio’s Ricardo Nunez (28-5, 23 KOs).
Rounding out the night is Antonio Santa Cruz (3-2, 2 KOs), cousin of Leo Santa Cruz, against Mexico’s Francisco Muro (3-3) in a four-round bantamweight fight and undefeated Los Angeles-native Flavio Rodriguez (4-0, 3 KOs) in four-rounds of welterweight action.
Unbeaten since turning pro in 2013, Hernandez defeated previously unbeaten Thomas Hill in an entertaining brawl in Nice on July 12. The 23-year-old fights out of Fresno, California and picked up three victories in 2015. He will face the 29-year-old Urista who enters this fight coming off of a win over previously undefeated Miles Delmindo.
The youngest brother of two-division world champion Rances and Olympic gold medalist Yan, Barthelemy has fought three times in 2016 and has picked up three victories by stoppage. The 27-year-old fights out of Las Vegas by way of Cuba and will battle San Antonio’s Nunez on September 13.

NICE, CALIF. (March 15, 2016) – Unbeaten junior welterweight Sergey Lipinets (9-0, 7 KOs) of Martuk, Kazakhstan thrilled the packed venue at the Robinson Rancheria Resort & Casino in Nice, California on Tuesday night with a dramatic fifth-round knockout of Levan “The Wolf” Ghvamichava (16-2-1, 12 KOs) in the main event of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and BOXEO DE CAMPEONES on FOX Deportes.
Stalking Ghvamichava from the opening bell, Lipinets found success with a range-finding jab combined with methodical and effective power shots to offset his opponents’ inconsistent attack.
Closing the gaps even narrower between himself and Ghvamichava, Lipinets continued to successfully walk down the Georgian (Russia) native in the fourth round who was unable to avoid the punishing assault.
Lipinets struck gold in the fifth, dropping Ghvamichava with a brutal left hand to the body resulting in a knockout victory at the 1:40 mark of the round.  Scores at the time of the stoppage were 39-37 and 38-38 twice for the scheduled ten-rounder.
About the win, Lipinets said, “I’m really happy with the victory. We worked hard on that shot with my trainer. We knew we could wait and use that right hand at the right time and take it straight to the body.
“He’s a very strong, physical opponent. It was a real challenge to get him to where I wanted him. I wanted to get inside and use my speed. It was hard in the beginning to pick him apart, but we were able to get into a rhythm.
“I want to keep going up from here. I think I proved myself tonight that I belong at this level.”
Said a disappointed Ghvamichava, “Things were going according to my game plan. I ended up getting caught with a shot. I recovered and then he threw that big body shot and it sucked the life out of me.
“The rounds were competitive, but I felt like I was winning. I knew I had to keep my jab on him to keep him at bay. I knew he had a strong right hand, but he started to back up and I had never seen him do that so it threw me off.
“You don’t expect to be knocked out. We were letting the fight come to me and I thought I was going to be able to stun him, but he has explosive power. I should have been more cautious. I am going to learn from this experience.”
Co-featured on the telecast Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko, (8-0 6KO’s), now fighting out of Brooklyn, New York, impressed with with an eighth-round knockout of thetough-as-nails Mike Guy, (8-2-1 4KO’s).
Fighting evenly over the first half of the scheduled eight rounder, Derevyanchenko found his range in the second half utilizing massive left hooks to the body to slow down the Sacramento, California native.
Sensing a finish in the final round, Derevyanchenko drilled Guy to the canvas at the midway point of the stanza and again shortly thereafter. Although Guy beat the count, the ensuing flurry from Derevyanchenko caused a halt to the bout by referee Michael Margado at the 2:24 mark.
Scores at the time of the stoppage were 70-63 and 69-64 twice.
Stated Derevyanchenko, “I wasn’t surprised he was so tough. I’ve never seen any of his fights, but I didn’t think it was going to be an easy fight.
“His style was awkward. It was hard to tell where his punches were going to come from.
“I didn’t pick a specific round that I wanted to knock him out. I just finally picked him apart in the sixth round and then again in the eighth.”
In the opening bout of the Premier Boxing Champions on “FOX and FOX Deportes”, undefeated welterweight, Kevin Watts of nearby Lancaster, California, improved to 11-0 with four knockouts with a dominant fifth round stoppage of Michael Chudecki, (11-3-1 3KO’s), of Pozman, Poland.
Using his superior skills and hand speed, Watts built an early lead sweeping the first four rounds while displaying his full array of punches.
Dropping the valiant Pole early in the fifth stanza, Watts was awarded the stoppage victory as referee Edward Collantes called a halt at the 2:01 mark. Scores at the time of the finish were 39-37 on all three judge’s scorecards.
Said the victorious Watts, “I’m so happy, but I knew I was going to get that win. I train too hard to lose. All I think about is winning. I’ve got too many people rooting for me to fail.
“I knew I was going to get the KO, but I was happy it was in the fifth round. I actually thought he was going to make it to the sixth because I didn’t think I hurt him as bad as I did in the fourth.
“When he went down, I knew it wasn’t a slip. Usually when a drop is ruled a slip, you know it, but that was definitely a knock down. He could barely get back up and after that he just kept backing up and backing up and I took advantage of that.
“Not sure what is exactly next, but I do know I’ll be ready.”

Further action features 23-year-old Los Angeles-native Kevin Watts (10-0, 3 KOs) against Poland’s Michal Chudecki (11-1-1, 3 KOs) in super lightweight action and unbeaten Cuban and brother of world champion Rances Barthelemy, Leduan Barthelemy (8-0, 4 KOs) taking on Mexico’s Pedro Melo (16-11-2, 7 KOs) in a featherweight bout.
A tall featherweight at over six feet, the 20-year-old Barrios picked up seven victories in a jam-packed 2015 in which he stopped five opponents inside the distance, including a and uppercut left hook combo that ended the night of Manuel Vides in December. The San Antonio-native turned pro in 2013 and is on the fast track towards a world title shot as he makes his 2016 debut. He will take on Martinez out of Tijuana, Mexico. The 24-year-old was unbeaten in his first 12 pro fights.
A highly decorated amateur who represented his native Ukraine in the 2008 Olympics, Derevyanchenko now lives and trains in Brooklyn. The unbeaten 30-year-old defeated a slew of experienced contenders in 2015 with wins over Elvin Ayala, Alan Campa, Vladine Biosse and a thrilling third-round stoppage of Jessie Nicklow. He will take on the once-beaten Guy out of Sacramento who enters this bout on a three-fight win streak.
