EL PASO, TX. (Abril 25, 2018) – Rugged veteran Josesito López y el invicto Miguel Cruz faced-off Thursday and discussed their upcoming showdown Saturday, Abril 28 as part of Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes from Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

 

 

 

Also squaring-off Thursday and competing in PBC on FOX and FOX Deportes action that begins at 8:30 p.m. Y / 5:30 p.m. PT were former world champion Anthony Dirrell and El Paso’s Abraham Han, who meet in a 10 round super middleweight clash, and featherweight brawlers Jorge Lara y Claudio Marrero, who compete in a 10 lucha redonda.

EL PASO, TX. (Abril 19, 2018) – Exciting 154-pound contender Erickson Lubin will return to the ring to take on Mexico’s Oscar Cortes in a 10-round showdown that highlights undercard action on Saturday, Abril 28 the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

 

 

 

El abril 28 event is headlined by a Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes card that features Josesito López in a welterweight contest against unbeaten Miguel Cruz. La cobertura televisada comienza en 8:30 p.m. Y / 5:30 p.m. PT and will also see former super middleweight world champion Anthony Dirrell take on El Paso’s Abraham Han plus unbeaten Mexican featherweight contender Jorge Lara clashing with Dominican brawler Claudio Marrero.

Rounding out the night of action will be a group of unbeaten prospects as Robert Rodriguez (1-0) competes in a four-round super flyweight matchup, Aaron Morales(1-0, 1 KO) steps in for four rounds of super bantamweight action, Alejandro Guerrero (7-0, 6 KOs) looks to remain unbeaten in a six-round super featherweight showdown and Leon Lawson III (3-0, 2 KOs) fights in a four-round super welterweight attraction.

 

 

 

El de 22 años Lubin (18-1, 13 KOs) will compete in action on April 28 in his first fight back since dropping his first world title challenge to Jermell Charlo last October. The former amateur star defeated Ivan Montero in a PBC on FOX and FOX Deportes fight in 2016 as he climbed up the super welterweight ranks. The Orlando-native will face the 24-year-old Cortes (26-3, 14 KOs), who has won three of his last four fights and lives and trains in Mexico.

EL PASO, TX (Abril 4, 2018) – Luchadores que compiten en una emocionante noche de Liga de Campeones de Boxeo en FOX y FOX Deportes organizó una conferencia de prensa en El Paso, Texas Wednesday antes de sus respectivos enfrentamientos el sábado, 28 de abril desde el Don Haskins Center en El Paso.

 

 

 

 

El miércoles estuvo presente el ex retador al título Josesito López e invicto peso welter Miguel Cruz, que se encuentran en una pelea de 10 asaltos, plus El Paso’s Abraham Han, quien lucha contra el ex campeón Anthony Dirrell en un concurso de peso súper mediano, y peso pluma invicto Jorge Lara, que se enfrenta a un luchador emocionante Claudio Marreroen un enfrentamiento de peso pluma.

López (35-7, 19 KOs) is a battle-tested veteran who has been in the ring with some of the top boxers in the sport, including Marcos Maidana, Saúl “Canelo” Alvarez and Jessie Vargas. The 33-year-old Lopez of Riverside, California scored one of the biggest wins of his career when he stopped Victor Ortiz by TKO in 2012. He has been on a two-fight win streak since losing to Andre Berto and in his last fight he defeated Saul Corral by a unanimous decision on April 9, 2017 live on FS1.

 

 

 

“Miguel Cruz has not faced a fighter on my level,” dijo López. “I’m the most experienced fighter that Cruz will have fought. I’m confident in my abilities and the fact that I will come out with a victory. I’m ready to go straight through Miguel Cruz and prove I’m one of the best welterweights in the world.”

 

 

 

Cruz (17-0, 11 KOs) will be taking a major step forward in his career when he takes on Lopez. The 27-year-old Cruz of Lake Mary, Florida was a member of the Puerto Rican national team as an amateur and picked up four victories in 2017. In his last fight he battled adversity by overcoming two cuts to score a unanimous decision over David Grayton on Nov. 21 on FS1 and also defeated then unbeaten Alex Martin twice in 2017 in a pair of exciting contests on FS1.

Dirrell (31-1-1, 24 KOs), a former super middleweight world champion from Flint, Michigan, is coming off a technical decision victory over Denis Douglin in November on FS1. The 33-year-old Dirrell won the title with a unanimous decision over Sakio Bika in 2015 before dropping a majority decision in 2016 to Badou Jack. Since that loss, Dirrell has won four straight, including a TKO victory over current 168-pound world champion Caleb Truax in 2016.

 

 

 

“Abraham Han is a good fighter coming off of a tough draw with J’Leon Love, and a guy you can’t look past,” dijo Dirrell. “Caleb Truax proved that by beating James DeGale for the title, so I’m truly focused on this fight right now. Han (26-3-1, 16 KOs) returns to fight in his hometown of El Paso for the ninth time, including a victory he picked up at Don Haskins Center in his fifth pro fight. The 33-year-old is looking to rebound from a technical draw against J’Leon Love last September, in a fight many thought Han was winning before the referee stopped the fight due to a cut caused by an accidental headbutt. He had won three fights in a row heading into that bout against Love.

 

 

 

“Anthony Dirrell probably sees me as someone that he can beat while he waits for a title shot, but I’m looking to mess up his plans,” said Han. “I felt like I won my last fight with J’Leon and would have easily beat him if it wasn’t stopped. This is another great opportunity to fight in my hometown of El Paso. I’ll focus on winning round-by-round and putting on a great show for my fans. I know everyone is going to come out and support me and help carry me to this victory.”

 

 

 

Lara (29-0-1, 21 KOs) has scored two victories, including a knockout against former champion Fernando Montiel, since he had a technical draw against Jesus Rojas in 2015. He knocked down Montiel four times on the way to the first round stoppage in their April 2016 showdown on FOX. The 27-year-old southpaw from Guadalajara, Mexico has shown heavy hands for a featherweight and is coming off a TKO victory over Mario Briones in his last fight on May 20 on FS1.

 

 

 

“I have been training with former champion Alejandro Gonzalez, and four weeks out from the fight, I am already in excellent condition and in tremendous fighting shape,” Said Lara. “I know that this is a very important fight, and that Marrero is a very tough opponent, but I am going to be the winner because I am determined to continue on my road toward winning a world title. Marrero (22-2, 16 KOs) was riding an eight-fight win streak before losing by knockout to Jesus Rojas in his last fight. The only other blemish on Marrero’s record was a unanimous decision loss to former world champion Jesus Cuellar in 2013.

LOS ANGELES (Abril 9, 2017) – Josesito López (35-7, 19 KOs) earned a decisive unanimous decision (100-89, 100-89, 100-89) encima Saul Corral (21-9, 12 KOs) en el Llamar Star Sports promoted main event of Liga de Campeones de Boxeo en FS1 & FOX Deportes desdeThe Novo en L.A. Vivo.
Although Corral was able to finish the fight, Lopez controlled the action throughout, dropping Corral to the canvas in the 10º round to cement the victory.
El co-sierra principal evento Alejandro Luna (22-0, 15 KOs) derrota Andrey Klimov (19-4, 9 KOs) por decisión unánime (97-93, 98-92, 98-92) in a thrilling ten-round lightweight bout. Luna stunned Klimov on a couple of occasions, but the resilient Klimov would not be knocked out, instead going the distance in a fan-friendly battle.
The televised opener featured 2016 U.S. Olímpico Karlos Balderas (1-0, 1 KO) getting a powerful stoppage in his professional debut over Thomas Smith (3-5-1, 2 KOs). Balderas stalked Smith with precision and forced Smith’s corner to throw in the towel following the first round.
The non-televised fights featured a slew of talented fighters making their highly anticipated professional debuts. 2016 Mexican Olympian and Bronze medalist Misael Rodriguez (1-0) secured a unanimous decision (40-36, 40-36, 40-36) encima Brian True (1-7-1, 1 KO) in four-round slugfest.
2016 Lituania olímpico Eimantas Stanionis (1-0, 1 KO) landed punches in bunches againstRasheed Lawal (1-5-1). Stanionis applied pressure with two swarms of punches in the first round, the second barrage proving too much for Lawal and forced the referee to stop the fight in round one (2:35).
Lindolfo Delgado (1-0, 1 KO) detenido Luis Silva (3-10, 2 KOs) en la tercera ronda (:33). Delgado knocked Silva down with a vicious uppercut in the second round and Silva never fully regained himself before his corner stopped the fight in the third frame.

“I dropped him with a left hook, but he’s a gritty guy. He took some punishment. I was a little careful in there, aunque. It’s been a while since I fought some good rounds like that. There were a few times that I tried to go for the kill, but he’s tough guy and stayed alive.

“I felt like my distance was off esta noche. I think I need to spend more time sparring. I didn’t have a lot of sparring partners for this fight and I think that affected me.
“I thought when Lopez landed punches I came back strong, but I didn’t continue with the attacks because he was able to stop me.
“I just need to change some things up in training camp, and then I think I can get back to another big fight.”
ALEJANDRO LUNA
“Klimov is a very tough guy. We’ve seen him go the distance with Terrence Crawford. He’s fought the cream of the crop, so it’s an honor to get a win over him. He’s a top-level fighter, so this victory goes to show that we’re ready for any top-five lightweight.
“Our plan esta noche was to work the body. We noticed he has a pretty high guard, so I wanted to go to the body to break him down little by little.
“I know that I hurt him with a couple body shots, but he recovered fast. Later on, I hit him with an overhand right that got to him, but he’s such a tough guy.
“My thing is always to please the crowd. I think this sport is as much about entertainment as it is skill and the fans want to see a show. That’s why I bring the action and do whatever I can to make it exciting for them.
“The last round wasn’t my best. He was outworking me a little, so as soon as the 10-second bell rang I wanted to close the fight out strong. Desafortunadamente, I opened up and we clashed heads, which caused the cut over my left eye.”
Andrey Klimov
“I got staggered a little bit, but it wasn’t anything that I thought was going to turn my lights out.
“Luna is a very herky jerky fighter. The cut over my left eye came near the end of the fight when we clashed heads.
“Estoy 35 años. We’re going to go home and take some time to think about what’s next. I’ve been fortunate to do a lot of things in this sport. Now it’s time to talk with my family and decide my future.”
KARLOS BALDERAS
“We spent a lot of time sparring with great fighters to get ready for this fight. I think all the practice paid off and my speed was my biggest asset esta noche.
“I think their corner stopped the fight because he was taking so many shots, but I’m not sure.
“I’m happy and excited to be a pro. I have so many people here esta noche supporting me coming in from Oklahoma and Texas, so it’s an honor. I felt like a win wasn’t enough. I needed to make a statement.
“I’m going to try to stay busy. I’d like to fight every two months, so I hope to be back in June fighting again.”
THOMAS SMITH
“I really had a bad headache. After the first two punches, I thought I could take it. I know he has a good body shot, but it didn’t really affect me. But after the fourth and fifth good one, I knew it was too much. I didn’t want to go out there in the second round just to get hurt.”
MISAEL RODRIGUEZ
“I honestly thought it was going to be an easier opponent. I haven’t been active since the Olympics eight months ago, but I trained very hard for this fight and got the win esta noche.
“I don’t think he brought anything to the table that was that different than what I’ve seen before, but it was my first pro fight and maybe there were some first fight jitters.

MONEY POWELL IV
“I did what I wanted to do esta noche. I dominated early. (Templeton) is a tough, old dude, and I want to thank him for taking this fight and allowing me to showcase my skills.
“I was just trying to start the fight out by controlling my distance and using my jab, but I could see he didn’t have much to offer, so I stopped using my jab so much. Once I realized I could land shots on him I went with my power punches because anything I threw was going to get him.
“Becoming a professional fighter is a dream come true for me. I always wanted to be a fighter ever since I was a little kid. Thankfully Richard Schaefer signed me and gave me a chance to realize my dream.
“This is only the beginning for me. I’m trying to be the best fighter that’s ever lived.”

LOS ANGELES (Abril 5, 2017) – Southern California-based fighters Josesito López, Alejandro Luna, Misael Rodriguez y Maricela Cornejo hosted a media workout at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Riverside Miércoles ahead of their bouts this Domingo, Abril 9 from the Novo at L.A. MISAEL RODRIGUEZ
“I’m excited because I have a great team behind me with Richard Schaefer, Abner Mares and Robert Garcia. I feel strong and ready for this fight.
“I’m so happy to be fighting in Los Angeles, because it’s like a second Mexico. I hope the fans all come out to see me because I’m going to work hard to be the next Mexican superstar.
“I’m going to keep working and getting stronger and better. I have to be consistent and have good training camps so I can reach my goals.
“Entrenamiento con Robert García ha sido grande. He has had a lot of champions and I hope that I will be next. Him and his whole family are good people and they’ve treated me like family. I’ve learned a lot already.
“I have to be smart in the ring. I’m a Mexican fighter in my heart and I always will be. But I have to be smart and be ready for anything in the ring.”
MARICELA CORNEJO
