“My opponent is a good fighter. He has good feet, good speed and great power. This is going to be a fight that can potentially steal the show. I look forward to seeing how our styles matched up.”

Hernández (12-1, 7 KOs) broke onto the scene in 2017 with back-to-back wins over previously undefeated, top-15 ranked fighters onShoBox– a unanimous decision over Glenn Dezurn and a fifth-round TKO of Vladimir Tikhonov. Hernandez followed up those performances with a split-decision over Ernesto Garza in January 2018. The 28-year-old Hernandez, the youngest of 15 niños, fue 73-6 as an amateur and took five years off from boxing between 2009 y 2014 to work construction jobs in his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

“On February 15, fans can expect to see the best performance from Jesse Hernandez yet,”Dijo Hernández, who will be making his fourth appearance onShoBox. “It’s been a long time coming and I won’t let this opportunity pass me. A win over Thomas Ward will definitely boost my career and hopefully lead to a world title shot. I know I will have all eyes on me on national television, I must impress. I believe the bantamweight division is mine for the taking. So I will go head and take what’s rightfully mine.”

Ward hails from County Durham in North East England, donde él compiló un registro amateur de 60 victorias, just four losses. The 24-year-old turned professional in 2012 a la edad de 17 y por 2017, he had won 20 straight fights and the British super bantamweight title. Jesse Angel Hernandez Cements Himself as a Super Bantamweight Contender with Impressive Unanimous Decision Over Glenn Dezurn

The Fort Worth, Texas, super bantamweight express named Jesse Angel Hernandez continued to pick up momentum last Saturday night, as he took his second consecutive undefeated record away, this time from Baltimore’s Glenn Dezurn.
Fighting on the Danny Jacobs vs. Luis Arias y Jarrell Miller vs.. Mariusz Wach undercard at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, Nueva York, Hernández (ahora 10-1, 7 KOs) used his height and reach advantages to maximum effect while scoring an eight-round unanimous decision over Dezurn (ahora 9-1-1, 6 KOs).
Despite a game showing from Dezurn, 26-year-old Hernandez was able to keep Dezurn at bay while landing long power shots. When Dezurn was able to make it inside, Hernandez would simply push him back. At the end of eight entertaining rounds, los jueces’ scorecards read 79-73, 78-74, y 77-75, all for Hernandez.
“Se siente muy bien. I think I looked impressive,” dijo Hernández. “I was winning every round. The game plan worked very well. I was trying to stay on the outside, with me being taller than him. My defense was better than his. He did more running than I thought he would. It was a good experience to fight another undefeated guy.
The win over Dezurn was Hernandez’ “segundo 0 in a row.” Último Agosto 4, at MGM Grand Detroit, and televised live nationally on ShoBox: La Nueva Generación, Hernandez stopped Russia’s then undefeated Vladimir Tikhonov in five.
Taking somebody’s 0 gives me the confidence to keep doing it,” continuó Hernandez. “These are tough guys I’m fighting now. As I pick up fights and rounds, I feel like my experience is making me better and better. I feel like it’s to my advantage to be in tough every time like this.
Hernandez’s promoter, Promociones Dmitriy Word of Word, says he was very impressed by his newest super bantamweight contender.

Boxing fans will hear more and more about him in the near future. The plan is to keep Jesse busy while increasing his exposure, to get him in position for a world title shot next year.
Things are going great. I feel like I’m with the right team,” dijo Hernández. “Salita believed in me like I believe in myself. I will talk to my team and we’re looking forward to fighting again in January or February.

Salita Signs Super Bantamweight Powerhouse Jesse Angel Hernandez to a Promotional Contract

Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions proudly announces the signing of super bantamweight prospect Jesse Angel Hernandez to an exclusive promotional contract.
A 26-year-old southpaw from Fort Worth, Texas, Hernández (9-1, 7 KOs) first came to Salita’s attention last Agosto 4, at a Salita Promotions event at the MGM Grand Detroit, y en vivo por ShoBox: La Nueva Generación, where he sored an impressive TKO 5 over Russia’s formerly undefeated Vladimir Tikhonov (16-0). Tikhonov, a Salita fighter, was overwhelmed by the strength, heavy hands and fearsome body attack of Hernandez.
It was a display of offensive firepower that promoters look for in a prospect.
Hernandez compiled a 68-6 record as an amateur before turning pro in 2009. Hampered by inactivity for five years, due to managerial issues and a shortage of local gyms, he has rededicated his career since returning in 2014.
Hernandez comes from a boxing family and is one of 16 brothers and sisters. Nine of the boys were boxers and six turned professional, including Jose “El Loco” Hernández, who scored a draw against former world champion Mickey Bey, and Rodrigo Hernandez, who fought to the only draw with Leo Santa Cruz.
It’s like a blessing to sign with Salita,” dijo Hernández. “I feel like we are very good fit. A company with great potential to make hardworking fighters into championship level athletes. I plan on making a name for myself and eventually win a world title.
A true force in the ring, Hernandez says as he progresses to bigger fights, his relentless style will become even more effective.
I was made for 12 rounds or more. I have an advantage that will help me reach my plan of dominating the 122-lb. division and eventually move up and hopefully do the same at higher divisions. I would like to fight anybody who holds a title once I get my opportunity. I want to fight whoever is the best when I get to that level. I fear no one. If you have ranking points or a title, I hope to see you in my future.
Jesse has an exciting, aggressive TV-friendly style,” dijo Dmitriy Salita. “I am confident that with more fights and exposure he will be on his way to being a big name in the super bantamweight division.
