50-YEAR CONTENDER “BRONCO” BILLY WRIGHT TALKS ABOUT HIS RECENT FIRST ROUND KNOCKOUT

Heavyweight Contender Bronco Billy Wright Discusses His Future In Boxing

LAS VEGAS (March 19, 2015) – WBC # 16 Heavyweight contender, Bronco Billy Wright (47-4, 38 KOs) talks about his recent first round knockout over Gilberto Domingos.  He’s just three first round knockouts away (29)  from breaking the record  which stands at 31 held by Shannon  Briggs.  He’s currently riding a 14-fight knockout streak which includes a winning streak of 18.

Steve “USS” Cunningham chimes in on controversial decision in Glazkov fight

Philadelphia (March 17, 2015)–In the aftermath of his IBF elimination bout this past Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montreal, former two-time cruiserweight world champion and current heavyweight contender Steve “USS” Cunningham wants to state his case  to what the boxing world saw, and that is the wrong man had his hand raised.
The viewing public saw that Cunningham controlled the bout and out landed Vyacheslav Glazkov in eight of the twelve rounds with jabs being virtually even and Cunningham landing more power shots to the tune of 123-84.
In total, Cunningham out threw Glazkov by 208 punches and out landed him 180-144 over the twelve round battle.
“The numbers, the perception, the video, none of it lies,” said Cunningham.
“Look at the stats. Look at his face.  The man spit out his mouthpiece three times because he really had no answer for what I was doing to him.  I was hurting him to the body.  His corner even pleaded with him that he needed a knockout in the final round to beat me.  Somehow two judges gave him eight rounds and another gave him seven.  Why bother fighting if this stuff is going to happen?  I outworked him, out landed him and beat him every which way possible.  He was considered the puncher coming into the fight but as the fight progressed it was me walking him down trying to make him fight.”
“When will the fans get tired of all these bad decisions?  What can the fighters do about that?  It has to be the fans that pay the money.  Look at my rematch with Tomasz Adamek and now this fight.  Right now, I should be a mandatory challenger to fight for the Heavyweight championship of the world but because of these terrible judges, I have to ponder my next move.”

“BRONCO” BILLY WRIGHT ANNIHILATES GILBERTO DOMINGOS IN 1 ROUND WITH NASTY BODY BLOW

LAS VEGAS (March 14, 2015) – Last night 50-year old WBC #16 heavyweight contender, “Bronco” Billy Wright (47-4, 38 KOs), annihilated Gilberto Matheus Domingos (22-3, 20 KOs), stopping the Brazilian with a devastating body blow at the1:15 mark of round one.  The10-round main event took place on the RJJ Boxing Promotions at the We Ko Pa Casino in Fort McDowell, Arizona.

With the victory, “Bronco” Billy retained his WBC LATIN AMERICAN andFECARBOX titles while extending his winning streak to 18, 14 of which came by way of knockout in consecutive bouts .

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to defend my WBC belts here in the United States as it’s been a long time since I fought here.” said Bronco Billy Wright. “Mauricio Sulaiman has been a man of his word, moving me up the rankings as I continue to win fights.  Right now I’m a #16, looking to crack the top 15 with this victory.  Against Domingos, I wanted to make a statement and end the fight early with a knockout.  The plan was to go in and land as many powerful body shots as possible.  It worked and I came out on top.  I’m going to keep marching up the WBC rankings with the goal getting a big fight against any of top contenders.  The problem is, none of these guys want to fight me.  I’m ready to take on all comers ahead of me.”

In addition, Bronco Billy recorded his 29th first round knockout.  One of his goal is to break the heavyweight record for 1st round knockouts held by Shannon Briggs which stands at 35.

Dawejko sees major opportunities in future but first must get by Umohette this Friday at 2300 Arena in Philadelphia

Philadelphia (March 5, 2015 ) – This Friday night at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia, streaking Heavyweight Joey Dawejko (13-3-2, 6 KO’s) of Philadelphia takes on Enobong Umohette (9-2, 8 KO’s) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin in a bout scheduled for 8-rounds.
Dawejko will be looking for his fourth consecutive first round knockout and he just completed a month long training camp in Easton, PA.
The camp consisted of all members of Mark Cipparone’s Club 1957 Management and provided a good atmosphere that consisted of as many as a dozen boxers.
“Training camp went great.  My whole team was there and I am ready to go forFriday,” said Dawejko.
In Umohette, Dawejko is fighting a guy that he does not know much about other then he has fought mostly in the Midwest and holds a knockout over former U.S. Olympian, Dante Craig.
“There isn’t much tape on him.  He is about 6-feet tall and he must be able to punch a little bit based on his record.”
Should the former world Jr. Amateur champion be victorious, he could be in line for a May 8 showdown with Amir Mansour in a bout that would be part of an ESPN Friday Night Fights card.
“It wasn’t too hard to stay focused on this fight.  I need this fight to put me in position for whatever fight is being talked about.”
Even though Dawejko’s last three bouts have ended before the end of the first round, he never goes in looking for the early stoppage.
“I never go into any fight looking to knock anyone out.  We train for 8 rounds or more and if it comes, it comes.”
Dawejko will be fighting extra hard as he and his fiancee Maria are expecting their 2nd child around April 9.
He did not want to talk too much about Mansour, but Mansour artist will be ringside calling the action on gfl.tv and Comcast and when asked if Dawejko would have anything to say to Mansour, “I think it is great that Amir will be ringside so he can witness what he can look forward to on May 8.”
Said Dawejko’s manager Mark Cipparone of Club 1957 Management,” The reality is that Joey Dawejko “The Tank” has created a well deserved buzz in boxing once again. I am sure that his last 3 fights ending in first round explosive KO’s have something to do with it! And today, I can’t seem to go anywhere without someone asking me when “The Tank” will be fighting again? It’s exciting because Joey has renewed interest to many in boxing ranging from the dedicated fan to the new comer and everyone in between. Everyone wants to see Joey fight!

As a hands on manager I spend a lot of time in the gym measuring boxers and Joey clearly has above average speed, above average power and most important he has an extremely high boxing IQ. As a result of this, Joey has earned both my attention and my full support and I am proud of his accomplishments. Stay tuned because the best is yet to come as great things are ahead for “Team Dawejko”.
Dawejko is promoted by Peltz Boxing.

DOMINIC “TROUBLE” BREAZEALE TAKES STEP UP IN COMPETITION

Las Vegas, Nevada (March 4, 2015) This Saturday evening marks a historic night as the sweet science returns to prime time network television on NBC after over thirty years.  Al Haymon’s “Premier Boxing Champions” series will make its debut in millions of homes across the country and is sure to reach casual fight fans and boxing aficionados. This is great for the sport as it presents a platform for viewers of all ages to become familiar with the sport of boxing and its future stars.

It is also a platform for professional fighters to become household names and have the public familiar with whom they are and their background. One such fighter is top U.S. heavyweight prospect, Dominic “Trouble” Breazeale (13-0, 12 KO’s).  Breazeale, now 29, was introduced to boxing at a relatively late age.  After playing quarterback for the University of Northern Colorado, Breazeale made a decision to leave the grid iron and enter the boxing ring in 2008.

Within three and a half years, Breazeale won numerous tournaments in the amateur ranks eventually landing him a spot on the 2012 United States Olympic Team competing in the Super Heavyweight division.  Several months later, Breazeale would sign with influential advisor Al Haymon and turn pro under the tutelage of former amateur star and professional heavyweight John Bray.

In his first nine bouts, Breazeale plowed through his opposition in four rounds or less including the dismantling of heavyweight veteran Lenroy Thomas.  In his tenth professional bout, Breazeale would go the distancefor the first time in his career against a tough veteran in Nagy Aguilera.  Although the bout would last all eight scheduled rounds, Breazeale showed he could box effectively peppering Aguilera at will with combinations of jabs, straight rights, left hooks and uppercuts.

His next three bouts ended in familiar fashion with his opponents being stopped in three rounds or less.  It has been a great start to Breazeale’s career and he is learning everyday with trainer John Bray.  “I’m satisfied where I am right now in my career, but I know I still have a lot to improve on in order to be ready to become the heavyweight champion of the world.  I trust and believe in John’s ability to take me to that level.  John has been in camps with the likes of Tyson, Lewis and Holyfield and has been trained by legendary trainers as well.”

Breazeale returns to the ring this Saturday evening against his toughest opponent to date, Victor Bisbal (21-2, 15 KO’s), a 2004 Olympian from Puerto Rico.  The opportunity to fight in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Arena on NBC is a dream come true and the 2012 Olympian is ready for this

challenge.  “I am truly excited to be fighting this weekend on such a huge platform and I am looking forward to this challenge and making my name a household name.  I know Victor is coming prepared and I am definitely prepared as well. It’s going to be a great night of boxing for the fans”, said Breazeale.

Trainer John Bray is also excited for this opportunity as he knows this fight can take his pupil from prospect to contender.  “Victor Bisbal is a veteran and a very accomplished fighter as an Olympian with a record of 21-2 with 15 knockouts.  Dominic will have to be on his “A” game to shine and as his trainer I can tell you that he will be that and more.  By out-boxing and beating Bisbal in an impressive fashion, this will make the boxing world take notice that Dominic Breazeale is real and ready for bigger and better things.”

PBC on NBC is promoted by Goossen Promotions and tickets for this amazing night of boxing can purchased at www.mgmgrand.com and are priced at $400, $300, $100 and $50.

CAMP NOTES: BRONCO BILLY WRIGHT

LAS VEGAS (March 3, 2015) – 50-year old WBC #17 heavyweight contender, “Bronco” Billy Wright (46-4, 37 KOs), is less than two weeks away from his upcoming 10-round main event bout with Gilberto Matheus Domingos (22-2, 20 KOs).  The bout takes place at the We Ko Pa Casino in Fort McDowell, Arizona on the RJJ Boxing Promotions card March 13, 2015.  Bronco Billy Wright gives his thoughts on training camp and defending his WBC LATIN AMERICAN and FECARBOX titles.

Bronco Billy on training camp preparations….

“Training camp has been tough this time around.  I’ve been working really hard to get in the best shape of my life.  My trainer Rafael Garcia Jr. has me doing some out of the box training methods that has been real beneficial to my boxing style.  We are finishing up our last days of sparring this week.  I’ll be ready to bring it next Friday.

Bronco Billy gives his thoughts on his bout with Domingos….

“I know Domingos is going to be looking for the knockout as am I, so we’ll see who lands the first bomb.  Like in all my fights, I’ll be looking to end the fight early.  If I need to go some extra rounds, I’m ok with that, as I’m in good boxing shape. He’s going to taste some my power, that’s for sure.

Bronco Billy comments on defending his WBC titles….

“Defending my WBC LATIN AMERICAN and FECARBOX titles is a pretty big deal for me.  It’s my leverage to compete at the top level as I try to crack the top ten in the WBC.  Right now I’m at #17, but I plan to move up with each fight this year.

Bronco Billy discusses being a 50-year old heavyweight contender….

“At this age I feel stronger then I was when I was younger.  It’s that old man strength I guess you can call it. I’m smarter, wiser and more discipline at this stage in my career.  I have a goal to become the heavyweight champion of the world and motivation is greater than ever.  A lot of these top contenders are shying away from fighting me.  I just want to earn my opportunity and fight the best.

Bronco Billy Wright – The Tale Of A 50-Year Old Contender

The man is 50 years old and has a belly that protrudes in a manner that suggests his blood pressure and cholesterol levels are in code red territory.

Not so, says “Bronco” Billy Wright, the most unlikely of heavyweight contenders I have come across in my decades of covering this red light district of a sport.

“I can hold a lemon meringue pie in one hand and a pumpkin pie in the other and still knock you out!” says the Las Vegas resident (46-4, 37 knockouts) in a recent phoner.

Wright, who debuted as a pro in 1986 after taking to boxing to get back in shape after breaking his back in a workplace accident, told me he’s set to glove up on March 13 at We Ko Pa Casino in Fort McDowell, AZ against Gilberto Matheus Domingos, a 22-2 (20 KOs) Brazilian.

It’s the first fight in the US since 2012 for Wright, who has made Bolivia his ring home away from home of late. “Fighting in America is very important,” said the boxer, rated No. 17 at heavyweight by the WBC. “This comeback is a difficult one to accept for people. I had to go abroad to get fights. Fighting here, I would have just been a club fighter and, nothing against that, but that’s not what I want.”

What he wants, he says, is for you simply to tune in and judge him by his merits, not his age or the fact that he has too much of a fondness for sweets. Roy Jones Jr.’s group is willing to give Wright a shot and put him on this card and he’s hoping you have an open mind as well.

“See for yourself! Yes, I’m 50 but it works to my advantage. I relax; I have my priorities in check. I don’t drink, don’t do the crazy stuff I did in my 20s and 30s, drinking beer, chasing skirts. No, I’m not the bodybuilder, Adonis-type people have come to expect. I’m an old-school fighter. You had, back in the ’80s, Larry Holmes, Tim Witherspoon, Tony Tubbs; I’m more like a lumberjack. If you’re looking to see a body, save your money but otherwise come to see me and an exciting knockout fight. You’re going to see that for sure.”  Continue Reading…

Lippe-Morrison to face Richard Dawson March 7

Miami, OK (February 26, 2015) – Heavyweight knockout king Trey Lippe-Morrison faces his toughest opponent to date when he battles Richard Dawson Saturday, March 7 in the six round main event of “Four State Franchise” at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, OK.

The card is presented by Holden Productions and tickets from $30 are on sale now by calling 918-542-9400 or going to Buffalorun.com.

Hailing from nearby Tulsa, OK, Lippe-Morrison’s a perfect 6-0 with all of his wins coming by knockout. Like his late, great father Tommy Morrison, Trey’s a big draw and has world class punching power. Having stopped each of his last five foes in less than two minutes, Lippe-Morrison is eager to show the world that he can go rounds if needed.

Standing across the ring from Lippe-Morrison will be fellow Oklahoman Richard Dawson of Okmulgee. A nine fight veteran, Dawson’s 5-2-2 with three wins by KO.  Known for having an excellent chin, Dawson has never been stopped and scored a huge upset by besting Ty Cobb (16-3) in June 2013.

Interestingly enough, Dawson’s father Anthony Cooks was scheduled to fight Tommy Morrison November 3, 1996 in Japan but was replaced due to out of the ring issues. Dawson however believes that he’ll make up for his father’s missed opportunity.

“I honestly don’t know much about Trey besides that he’s only fought bums,” said the ultra confident Dawson. “I’m coming to bring the fight to him and control the action. I’m extra motivated after my last fight (a loss in a rematch against Cobb). I’ve heard he’s good but I’m going to prove to everybody what I can do!”

The confident and respectful Lippe-Morrison sees it differently.

“This is a big fight for me. I’m moving up to six rounds and Dawson’s been six multiple times. I expect this to be a good fight and will leave the trash talking to him. I’m bringing my A game and I think it will be all he can handle. My talking is done in the ring.”

“Richard Dawson is an excellent test for Trey and he’s extremely confident that he’s going to pull off the upset,” said promoter Tony Holden. “Everybody wants to know if Trey can box and how he’ll do after the first few rounds. I’ve seen Dawson fight multiple times and he’s a tough fighter with an excellent chin. He should be able to test Trey for the first time in his career. At the same time, Trey has the kind of power that can end a fight at any time. That is what makes this fight so interesting!”

Heavyweight hopeful Kenzie Witt-Morrison ofBartlesville, OK risks his 3-0 record in a four round scrap against an opponent to be announced. The popular Witt-Morrison’s won all three of his bouts by knockout and is Morrison’s son and Lippe-Morrison’s half brother.

Unbeaten welterweight Jesse Cook of Seneca, MO risks his 14-0 record against battle-tested Michigan native Patrick Boozer over eight rounds. The talented Cook’s won most of the rounds he’s fought as a pro, scoring a clear-cut decision over 35 fight veteran Larry Smith last December. At 7-3 with 2 knockouts, Boozer’s coming off an impressive victory, upsetting Anthony Young (10-0) in October 2014.

Bartlesville, OK’s Jarrett Rouse will look to improve to 5-0 when he squares off against Steve Kolin, 2-2, ofHarrison, AR. The Rouse-Colin contest is scheduled for four rounds in the welterweight division.

Additional bouts and opponents will be announced shortly.

The show was promoted by Banner Promotions and was broadcasted live on ESPN’sFriday Night Fights.
All Boxcino bouts were scheduled for 6 rounds.

Dennis dominating Vukosa
Dennis was the much quicker fighter from the outset and landed hard shots on Vukosa from early on.  In round three, Dennis dropped Vukosa from a hard combination.  Vukosa was never the same as he was staggered a few more times and even looked like he had no defense as he tried to turn his back several times on Dennis until he was dropped again in the fourth round and the fight was stopped at2:52.
Dennis, 222 lbs of Davenport, Iowa is now 13-2 with 10 knockouts.  Vukosa, 218 lbs of Quincy, Massachusetts is now 10-1.
“He was a patient fighter and early on, I took what I could get,” said Dennis.  “I was working off my jab and started to connect.  I trained very hard and I had a lot more in the tank.  I was a little mad that it was stopped early.  I can’t wait to get back in the gym and work on getting better.”
Andrey Fedosov scored an emphatic 1st round stoppage over Nate Heaven
In round one, Fedosov dropped Heaven with a thudding left hook.  He sent him to the canvas for a 2nd time with a devastating three punch combination that sent Heaven to the deck for a second time and the fight was stopped at 2:53.

Fedosov knocking Heaven Down

Fountain started the 7th with a nice left that split open the right eyelid of of Cojanu.  Cojanu was able to fight back and land a hard combination on the ropes and that proved to be the difference in the fight.

Cojanu and Fountain

Lenroy Thomas opened up the Boxcino quarterfinals with a drawbreaker decision over former U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada.
Each guy traded some good shots over the first two-plus rounds.  Thomas landed a solid three punch combination in round three.  Estrada was effective when he was able to get in the straight right.
In round four, the two clashed heads and it caused a small cut on the forehead of Estrada.  The bout was competitive with each guy taking turns being the boss in short spurts.  After the sixth round, the bout was a even on the scorecards and they went to the seventh and deciding drawbreaker round.
In that extra frame, Thomas boxed well by landing quick combinations to a visibly tired Estrada and he was declared the winner by unanimous decision.
